Had so many near misses with nutters overtaking dangerously on the A44 and A470 that I always run the little hd camera from www.7dayshop.com Unfortunately there's no way of seeing the output and it's easy to knock, and the battery had gone flat so the date and time reset. It was a straight bit of road, and this car suddenly overtook so stupidly I had to break really hard to avoid a collision, there was nowhere to go. You can see the front of my car dip. Twats like this ruin lives. You can hear my commentary on the situation in the background! So, S38 LCF, whoever you are, let's hope it's just yourself you wipe out.

Aran Fawddwy from Cwm Cywarch
This route to the summit of Aran Fawddwy is one of the great walks of Snowdonia. Starting in dramatic Cwm Cywarch, this walk gets away from the crowds and nearly reaches 3000 ft. The scenery is superb with deep valleys and rolling hills the main characteristic of the area.the length of the walk is 7.5 miles / 12.2 km and graded as moderate/hard and a accent from Cywarch is 2635 feet / 798 metres, ran Fawddwy (2500ft+) , the highest peak in the south of Snowdonia National Park (Wales) is the central point on the 8 km rocky ridge which runs from Llanuwchllyn (on the B4403) S over Aran Benllyn (885m) to Aran Fawddwy then SW to Glasgwm (qv) and Pen y Brynnfforchog (685m) finishing at Ochr y Bwlch and the A470 road. The W slopes of this escarpment are relatively gentle, but the E side contains several deep cwms (corries) with crags. The summit of Aran Fawddwy is itself close to crags overlooking the Llaethnant valley. Being much the highest point of land for a long way in all directions, it commands very extensive views on a clear day. The Arans may be climbed together from Llanuwchllyn by a path on the long north ridge, with a return the same route. Alternatively Aran Fawddwy may be combined with Glasgwm (2500ft+) in a circular walk from Cwm Cywarch.

48151 on 1Z45 'The Welsh Mountaineer' 23/08/11
Ex-LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 no.48151 'Gauge O Guild' hauled the Preston - Blaenau Ffestiniog - Preston tour 'The Welsh Mountaineer' (1Z43 & 1Z45) We start off at Blaenau Ffestiniog where we see relics of the towns industrial past, In the distance Linda can be seen on the Ffestiniog Railway running into Blaenau. 48151 is then seen departing and start the climb whilst having to negotiate the tight corners on her approach to the tunnel then disappears in a cloud of steam. A hand-held shot now as we see her run over the viaduct which runs over the A470 road, was pretty much a case of just getting out of the car and pressing record so had no time to set up. Next we come to Tal-Y-Cafn where unlike our morning shot, we are situated down by the riverside. Sneaking up on us 48151 is seen blasting away from her "stop" at the station giving a nice reflection as she runs along the riverside. Our final shot brings us to the road bridge outside Abergele & Pensarn station (a favouite spot of mine now) where once again 48151 sneaks up on us (nearly missed it due to traffic in Llandudno) running along the coast then passes us at speed.
