Hans Rosling's 200 Countries, 200 Years, 4 Minutes - The Joy of Stats - BBC Four
More about this programme: www.bbc.co.uk Hans Rosling's famous lectures combine enormous quantities of public data with a sport's commentator's style to reveal the story of the world's past, present and future development. Now he explores stats in a way he has never done before - using augmented reality animation. In this spectacular section of 'The Joy of Stats' he tells the story of the world in 200 countries over 200 years using 120000 numbers - in just four minutes. Plotting life expectancy against income for every country since 1810, Hans shows how the world we live in is radically different from the world most of us imagine.

Castration Increases Life Expectancy - Would You Do It?
"It's a life-extending strategy most men probably won't want to pursue, but new research suggests eunuchs live longer than non-castrated guys. Historical Korean eunuchs — men who had their testicles removed in order to secure high positions in the palace hierarchy — outlived their non-castrated counterparts by as much as 20 years, the study finds. The results will be published tomorrow...in the journal Current Biology. In animals, castration tends to lengthen life span, likely because male sex hormones aren't great for the health. Testosterone is an immune-system suppressor, for example, and can also increase the risk for cardiovascular disease...".* Would you get castrated for the chance of a longer life? Ana Kasparian, Cenk Uygur, Jesus Godoy, Dave Koller, and Steve Oh break it down on The Young Turks. *Read more here from Stephanie Pappas / LiveScience / The Huffington Post: www.huffingtonpost.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

Kenya's Life Expectancy
Did you know that the average life expectancy for a Kenyan is 57 years? Well this is the challenge that took close to 100 members of parliament to Mombasa under the auspices of the national coordinating agency for population and development in efforts of seeking ways of increasing the life expectancy for a Kenyan to 60. How can that be done? Citizen television's Evelyn Wambui travelled the opposite direction... To Yata to answer that question through the lifestyle of a man now celebrating his 128thbirthday.

Study Says AIDS Drugs Can Raise Life Expectancy in Africa
This is the VOA Special English Health Report, from voaspecialenglish.com | http Scientists say a study in Africa shows that AIDS drugs can increase life expectancy in patients to nearly normal levels. One of the authors was Dr. Jean Nachega of South Africa's Stellenbosch University and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland. He says the major finding is that patients in Africa receiving antiretroviral therapy for HIV "can expect to live a near-normal lifespan." The findings appear in the Annals of Internal Medicine.Over the last thirty years, the HIV/AIDS epidemic cut fifteen to twenty years or more from life expectancy rates in Africa. Dr. Nachega says those rates had gained sharply in many countries in the past because of access to clean water and expanded immunization programs. The study took place in Uganda, where life expectancy at birth is an average of about fifty-five years. The study involved twenty-two thousand patients being treated for HIV. The results were promising but were different for men and women. At age twenty, life expectancy for men was another nineteen years. Women could expect to live thirty more years. At age thirty-five, men could expect to live to fifty-seven. Women could expect to live to sixty-seven. Dr. Nachega says men generally start treatment later than women. By then the disease is less treatable. He says one reason men wait may be because they "spend more time looking for a job and ... a way to ...

THE LIFE EXPECTANCY MYTH: Are We Really Living Longer??
A very common argument used to dispute criticism of chemical farming systems, Iatrogenic pharmaceutical deaths and the general western approach of using chemicals instead of nurture it so say that people are living nearly twice as long these say so the problems we face must not be that bad. This line of thinking is very flawed so Sean from Underground Wellness bravely goes where few dare to tread..... into the concept of average life span vs actual life span. If you lived to be 35 in 1800 you chance of making it ripe old age was very similar as it is today and that is without the benefit of modern medicine to save us from old age complications... Hmmm. This video has been rebroadcast with permission from Sean at www.undergroundwellness.com http disease longevity anti-aging pesticides pollution cure western medicine allopathic holistic alternative healing old age lifestyle quality of life

TEDxOrangeCoast - Jean de Kervasdoue - Another look at life expectancy
How the study of life expectancy across the globe, reveals a new meaning of life's responsibility and history. How measuring the innovation index of a nation through the health of their population is a new perspective offered to us by Jean de Kervasdoue. Jean de Kervasdoué is professor of health economics and management (Conservatoire national des arts et métiers -- CNAM) and the dean of the "Ecole Pasteur/CNAM de santé publique" in Paris. A member of the French "Académie des technologies" (French Academy of Technology), he studied in France as well in the United States where he earned a Ph.D. and MBA at Cornell University. About TEDx. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.

"Cystic Fibrosis Life Expectancy: 30, 50, 70...." CF Cure from Russian Doctors (Book)
www.normalbreathing.com Cystic Fibrosis Life Expectancy: 30, 50, 70... - Amazon Kindle and PDF book. Cystic fibrosis life expectancy has been growing for several decades since 1930s, when most babies with CF died before their first birthday. Later, in the 1950s, cystic fibrosis life expectancy was less than 10 years. Soon after, due to use of various therapies, it increased from about 14 years (in the 1980s) up to about current 35-37 years. Some researchers predict that cystic fibrosis life expectancy for contemporary babies can be up to 50 or more years. Cystic fibrosis major symptoms can be eliminated by any person who achieves normal breathing parameters. Therefore cystic fibrosis treatment should target one main goal: to increase body O2 content. This is exactly the key problem in adults and children with cystic fibrosis that limits their cystic fibrosis life expectancy. O2 in cells is the crucial factor in cystic fibrosis since the tiny pumps that transport sodium and chloride ions to create mucus in the respiratory tract and digestive system require oxygen to do the job correctly. Low O2 level in cells makes these pumps malfunction. And this is effect is established even in ordinary people without the CFTR gene. People with CF (cystic fibrosis) experience the same effect (poor work of tiny pumps causing more viscous mucus), but this effect is amplified by their CFTR gene making mucus, in conditions of tissue hypoxia, even thicker and dryer. That causes opportunistic ...

Leeds Gypsy and Travellers; Documentary - Shocking Life Expectancy
Back in 2005 a community based study of Gypsies and Travellers who live in Leeds found that they have a life expectancy of just 50 years of age. This short video was created by Susan Radcliffe of Sheffield University, although now a little dated, it interviews Gypsies and Travellers themselves along with professions who work with them. It explores the possible reasons behind these findings. For more info visit www.leedsgate.co.uk

Economic Freedom and a Better Life
Economics professor Josh Hall explains that economic freedom leads to greater human well-being. If we look at average income, life expectancy, income of the poorest 10%, and other factors, we see that when governments let citizens make economic decisions for themselves, this leads to greater human flourishing. A History of Hebrew Part 2: The original language
A History of Hebrew DVD available through Amazon.Com - www.amazon.com --------------------------- This is a segment of a much larger video production that I am working on and am looking for feedback (positive and negative) on the layout and content. --------------------------- Many theological discussions, teachings and debates use phrases like "The Bible says," or "God says." From a technical point of view, the problem with these statements is that it assumes the Bible was written in English, which of course we all know is not true. The Bible does not say "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." The more accurate statement would be, "The Bible says, 'bereshiyt bara elohiym et hashamayim v'et ha'arets,' which is often translated and interpreted as 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.'" (use paleo script for the Hebrew). While this may sound trivial, it is in fact a very important issue as many theological differences, divisions and arguments are based on faulty interpretations of the text that could easily be resolved by examining the original language. Once the Hebrew text is recognized, its meanings and interpretations can then be discussed properly. As an example, the Hebrew word reshiyt, often translated as "beginning" in Genesis 1:1, can be used for the beginning of an event, but it can also be used for the "best" of something such as we see in Numbers 18:12 - "All the fat of the oil and all the fat of the wine and wheat, the ...
