Life in Afghan refugee camps
CLICK TO WATCH FULL DOCUMENTARY ONLINE: docsonline.tv If you've read khaled Hosseini bestsellers A thousand splendid suns or Kite Runner, than the documentary film THE RETURN by Joost Verhey is a must see. THE RETURN takes you back to the Afghan refugee camps in 1989/1990. At the time, the extend of the refugee problem was simply staggering; yet, hardly noticed by the western world. As a one-off situation director and anthropologist Verhey visited several Afghan refugees camps, including Jalozai, in 1989, sketching the problems of those living in these camps.

Afghan refugees at risk in cold winter
More than two million Afghans are at risk from cold and malnutrition this winter. The worst off are those who have fled violence and poverty and are living in temporary camps across the country. Last year thirty refugees, mainly children, froze to death in makeshift camps scattered around Kabul. The UN has appealed for help but has only managed to raise less than half of the $448m it asked for. Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports from Kabul, Afghanistan.

Pakistan's Afghan refugees await decision on status
Al Jazeera's Imtiaz Tyab, reporting from Peshawar, addresses the December 2012 expiration of refugee status for Afghans in neighbouring Pakistan. Tyab says Islamabad has found itself in a "very sticky situation" since 2009, when the expiration date was first established. Our correspondent says the Pakistani government "have been dragging their heels" due to a combination of international pressure against any possible repatriation of up to three million refugees and Pakistan's own internal troubles - terrorism, increased violence, a suffering economy, and natural disasters.

Pakistani citizenship for Afghan refugees
Support the innocent Afghan refugees. If they have settled in Pakistan with their children being born in Pakistan -- then they are Pakistanis and should be accepted as Pakistani citizens with all the rights and privileges as a Pakistani citizen. They should be rehabilitated and provided educational benefits and brought into the fold.
