Classical Japanese Koto Music - Izumi-Kai Original Instrumental Group - Rokudan
Classical Japanese Koto Music - Izumi-Kai Original Instrumental Group - Rokudan
From the liner notes: "Japan owes its music, as its culture in general, to the Chinese. Not only, however, have the Japanese actively developed this heritage, but they have also preserved many elements of older Chinese music which have been lost in its home country. The music of the Japanese can be divided into main categories which correspond to the sacred and secular fields of Western music. In the former category we find: (a) Gagaku. This is the ancient Chinese temple music which was introduced into Japan around AD 600 and which marks the beginning of Japanese musical history. It is orchestral music, performed by small shawms (hichiriki), flutes (shakuhachi), mouth organs (sho), lutes (biwa), drums, and gongs. - (b) Ka(n)gura. This is the indigenous Japanese temple (Shinto) music which is used today for the most solemn worship. It originated in the 13th century when Japan became conscious of its aboriginal culture, and may well contain elements of a tradition prior to the Chinese influence. Today it is played on the koto and flutes. It is a recitative confined to a few tones. To the same category belongs the Saibara songs, autochthonous songs used at the Emperor's court and executed by a soloist, a small group of singers, together with sho, hichiriki, and fuye (flute). - (c) Halfway between sacred and secular is Nogaku, or No. This is a musical play which may be compared to the liturgical drama of the Middle Ages with which it was coincidental in rise (c. 1000-1200 ...

Tegan talks about the first show where the girl she wrote most of the songs on "The Con" for was there... Augusten: "I love that little quivery thing you do with your voice." Tegan: "Oh that was fear." Tegan: "Sara's like, she's like the rough one... you wanna fight someone, don't fight Sara. And she's all like, 'Who fucking threw... you threw gum?? Are you serious??' and had them bring the lights up and singled the person out.... Sara LOOOVES to fight with the audience, and sometimes I have to be like, 'Enough!'" Augusten: "That's great!" Tegan: "Yeah, it's sooo great." Augusten: "She says she's like totally into punishing." Tegan: "Yeah..." Augusten: "She's alpha." Tegan: "She's very aggressive. Oh she is alpha. She's little though! She's weeny... you know? I hold back. I'd like to take her to school sometime." Augusten: "Well you will someday." Tegan: "I would." Augusten: "You'll get your chance." Tegan: "Well thank you. The Lord of the Rings - The One Ring
The Lord of the Rings - The One Ring
THE PROPHECY, This is heard on the FOTR Soundtrack CDs (regular and special edition). It is not in the FOTR movie, however, and only a very short portion is heard on the CR-FOTR. The name, "The Prophecy", is found in the liner notes of the FOTR-OST and on the sheet music from musicnotes.com. The AS-FOTR does not include it in its songs listing. THE HISTORY OF THE RING THEME, a theme for The One Ring, is used "whenever the One Ring changes hands or marks significant progress in its journey". (Doug Adams, CR-FOTR liner notes, page 7) The music is light, almost lyrical, throughout FOTR and TTT. But in ROTK, the History of the Ring combines with the Evil of the Ring (Mordor/Sauron). The minor key and reedy rhaita of Sauron's theme give a more menacing tone to the History of the Ring. MORDER/SAURON aka THE EVIL OF THE RING THEME, has two names and is assigned to two categories: Mordor and The One Ring. The theme represents "the Ring's "character... (and its) effect on the world." (Doug Adams, CR--FOTR liner notes, page 29) and "the most villainous inclinations of the Ring and for Mordor itself." (Doug Adams, CR--FOTR liner notes, page 9) Since this music has been identified as Sauron's Theme from the inception of the site, I will continue to use that as the primary name. www.youtube.com THE SEDUCTION OF THE RING, a theme for The One Ring, "represents the One Ring's overwhelming allure." (Doug Adams, CR-FOTR liner notes, page 8) The theme often uses boy's voices singing lyrics ...

Monstrosity - Ceremonial Void
Death metal old school Ceremonial Void [Lyrics: L. Harrison; music: Monstrosity] Deranged thoughts, a twisted mind I've imagined a vision of burning Christ Arranged, pre-ordained Wisdom of the insane Infliction inherent, Life deemed estranged Reality transparent, normalcy in vain Memory converted, A ministry ingrained Tribulation for your sins, your mind is now enslaved Hateful lies known as promises brainwashed minds scarred as evidence incoherent, to realities [misspelled as "realitys" in CD liner notes] denied Frenzied thinking, delusions soon confied Fallacy enraged, by the ways of law This dominance controls with time ! Calculated doom of your impurities [misspelled as "impuritys" in CD liner notes] Saturation of this sickness A Vicious Mental Thirst ! Craving such insanity You yearn to quell this hunger Hateful lies known as promises brainwashed minds scarred as evidence Disciples, yet their minds cannot decide Inbred [misprinted as "Imbredded" in CD liner notes] by a faith that soon divides Addiction, your [=you're] engulfed, by the ways of God His dominance controls your mind ! American Football - I'll See You when We're Both Not so Emotional
American Football - I'll See You when We're Both Not so Emotional
Alright this was a request and this song I thought was on youtube, but last time I looked a few days ago I didn't see it. I'm sure it'll pop up again because things are like that sometimes, but this is from the American Football full length. It's such a great album! It should be mandatory listening ;) This video may seem a little odd because I mixed in a few different things/thoughts I had going here. There are a couple old pictues I used in the 'Stay Home' video, some new pics I found on the internet. I found some drawings of Mike Kinsella that I thought were cool. I did NOT draw these but whoever did you are really good! :) I also threw in a couple left over shots from my 'Five Silent Miles' shoot. Lastly, I put in a really good pic I got of the inner liner notes. Or at least I thought. I'm convinced there is no way to get a great picture of that (in a video anyway). But I just think the inner liner notes are so cool. I wish I could do them justice better. I also should get a better cd case for my cd since it is obviously cracked. Btw those weird spots on the liner notes are hard to explain, but some uhh shower gel spilled on it and since the cd was cracked it infected the liner notes lol. I should buy another cd off on interpunk while it is avail. Totally worth the money! Well that's it. Enjoy the song! Thanks for watching all my American Football videos. Mike Kinsella would be proud of ya I think. Oh yeah 'Letters and Packages' will be next probably.

The Lord of the Rings - Mordor
MORDER/SAURON aka THE EVIL OF THE RING THEME, has two names and is assigned to two categories: Mordor and The One Ring. The theme represents "the Ring's "character... (and its) effect on the world." (Doug Adams, CR--FOTR liner notes, page 29) and "the most villainous inclinations of the Ring and for Mordor itself." (Doug Adams, CR--FOTR liner notes, page 9) Since this music has been identified as Sauron's Theme from the inception of the site, I will continue to use that as the primary name. THE THREAT OF MORDOR , a theme for Mordor, is a danger motif used alone or as an ostinato under other music. The Threat of Mordor is blending with the rhythm of the Isengard theme to produce the Witch King of Angmar / Orcs of Mordor theme. Additionally, if one overlooks that first low note, the rhythm structure is the same as the Mordor Skip Beat. In fact, one iteration is identified in the AS-ROTK as being 'somewhere between an inverted Threat of Mordor and the Mordor Skip Beat.' The Descending Third Motif, a theme for Middle-earth in the subcategory of the Ring Quest, signals "impending doom." Like the Mordor Skip-beat and the Threat of Mordor, it is sometimes used as an ostinato, sometimes alone. It is a sequence of descending thirds that bears some resemblance to the Dies Irae. The Skip Beat Ostinato, an accompaniment for Mordor, is a three note pattern that is "used for more kinetic moments". It has multiple variations: each note pitched differently - ABC each note pitched the ...

Carpenters - Eve
Carpenters - Eve
In the liner notes for "From The Top," Richard explains how he and John Bettis wrote "Eve." "Eve" written in 1968, was inspired by an episode of a suspense anthology that was on TV at the time. Different stories were featured each week with a variety of guest stars. One starred Carol Lynley and was entitled "Eve." This triggered in me the opening lines both lyrically and musically, after which I completed the melody and John did likewise with the lyrics. Karen was just 19 years old when she recorded "Eve." ======================================== "Eve" was the first episode of a British suspense anthology television series called "Journey to the Unknown. The story occupies the half-world between reality and madness. It involves a department store window dresser named Albert Baker, who has fallen in love with a store-window mannequin. To Albert, "Eve" is a real person, but his love is threatened when she is doomed to be destroyed with other discarded mannequins. Was "Eve" ever anything but a store mannequin? Or did she really come to life for Albert? I used to have the entire episode which I posted on YouTube. Unfortunately, my computer crashed and I lost everything. I think I may have saved it to compact disc, but I've search stacks and stacks of CDs here, and haven't found it yet, but I'm still hoping it'll turn up one day.
