  Nolan County, Texas
  Nolan County is a county located in the west central region of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 15,216. Its seat is Sweetwater. The county is named for Philip Nolan, one of the first American traders to visit Texas.
  According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 914 square miles (2,370 km²), of which 912 square miles (2,360 km²) is land and 2 square miles (5.2 km²) (0.21%) is water.
  As of the census of 2000, there were 15,802 people, 6,170 households, and 4,288 families residing in the county. The population density was 17 people per square mile (7/km²). There were 7,112 housing units at an average density of 8 per square mile (3/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 78.45% White, 4.68% Black or African American, 0.49% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 14.02% from other races, and 2.07% from two or more races. 28.04% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
  There were 6,170 households out of which 32.20% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.00% were married couples living together, 12.60% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.50% were non-families. 27.10% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.   Albert Nolan, O.P. (born 1934) is a Roman Catholic priest and member of the Dominican order in South Africa.
  Nolan was born in Cape Town, South Africa, as a fourth-generation South African of English descent. Reading the works of Thomas Merton, Nolan became attracted to the idea of religious life (i.e. joining a religious order). Eventually he joined the Dominican Order in 1954, and studied in South Africa and Rome, where he received a doctorate.
  In the 1960s, he taught theology at the Dominican training institution in South Africa, associated with the University of Stellenbosch. In the 1970s, he became the national chaplain to the National Catholic Federation of Students.
  From 1976 to 1984, he was Vicar-General of the Dominicans in South Africa. In 1983, he was elected Master of the Order of Preachers. He however declined the office which would have meant transferring to his order's Rome headquarters, preferring to remain in South Africa during this decade of intense political and social transition. During this period he worked for the Institute for Contextual Theology, and was involved in the circle of pastors and theologians who started the process that led to the Kairos Document in 1985.

  Anna Nolan (born 16 October 1970) is an Irish television presenter, producer and former business manager, waitress and Irish international basketball player. She has presented numerous television programmes in Ireland and the UK. She is now a recognisable face in Ireland.
  When she was young Nolan's mother noticed that she always ran away when young males visited and never dated boys. She did eventually date two men. She joined a convent, and has fond memories of her time there: "I loved the nuns and the work they did. They were the coolest group of women". She left after a drunken incident which confirmed for her that "the Catholic church has no place for women really".
  One year after leaving the nunnery, Nolan came out. Her mother asked her if she was gay one 1992 Saturday night about midnight when 22-year-old Nolan arrived home from her first night out in a gay bar. Her father was welcoming of her homosexuality, offering to accompany her on nights out if she wished and giving her the following advice, "Anna, never underestimate that there are people out there who hate gays, would like to hurt gay people and will never accept them. You don't have to mix with them, but they will always be there." These words returned to her when she was filming for the BBC in Australia and was accosted by "an Australian right-wing homophobe living in Melbourne -- a very damaged character".

  Robert Clarence Nobles was born April 13, 1908 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Harry Nobles and Flora Elizabeth Hussey Nobles. The couple separated in 1915, and Flora raised her two little boys in Winnipeg.
  In the summer of 1916, Flora temporarily moved her children to her husband's parents' home in Hatfield Point, New Brunswick. But, due to the machinations of his father, Bob never saw his mother again.
  In the summer of 1919, Bob went to live with his aunt in Boston, Massachusetts.   Clive Nolan (born 30 June 1961) is a British musician, composer and producer who has played a prominent role in the recent development of progressive rock.   Born in Waterford, Nolan began his career with English side Blackburn Rovers, having impressed in his first season at Blackburn Rovers's youth team, he became a regular member of the reserve squad in his second season.   Frederick William Nolan (born 7 March 1931 in Liverpool) is an English editor and writer, mostly known as Frederick Nolan, but also using the pen names Donald Severn, Daniel Rockfern, Christine McGuire and Frederick H. Christian.
  He was educated in Liverpool and Aberaeron, Wales. At the age of twenty one, he began the researches that established him as one of England's leading authorities on the American West. In 1954 he was co-founder of The English Westerners' Society.

The move to London in the early Sixties made it possible for him to pursue the other consuming interest of his life: the American musical theatre. During this time, he also began writing western fiction as Frederick H. Christian, a pseudonym derived from his own, his wife Heidi's, and his oldest son's first names.

  Henry Grattan Nolan, CBE MC (May 5, 1893 – July 8, 1957) was a Canadian lawyer and jurist.
  Born in Calgary, Alberta, the son of Patrick James "Paddy" Nolan, a criminal defence lawyer, and Mary Elizabeth Lee, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1914 and was awarded a Rhodes scholarship for Alberta in 1915. However, he enlisted in the army during World War I and received a Military Cross in 1918 for his service. He was wounded at Cambrai, in France.
  After the war, he received a second Bachelor of Arts in 1921 from University College, Oxford. He was called to the English and Alberta bar. He returned to Calgary to practice law.
  During World War II, he served with the Canadian Army becoming a Vice-Judge Advocate General with the rank of Brigadier. From 1945 to 1948, he was a prosecutor before the International Military Tribunal for the Far East at Tokyo. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1946.
  On March 1, 1956, he was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada and served barely a year until his death in 1957 at the age of 64.

  Born in Los Angeles, California, Nolan was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Los Angeles.
  Nolan began her acting career at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California, and, while a student at Los Angeles City College, made her radio debut in 1932 in Omar Khayyam, the first transcontinental broadcast from station KHJ, and continued acting until the 1990s. She made her film debut as Lady Macbeth in Orson Welles's 1948 film Macbeth, based on Shakespeare's play of the same name. Despite the fact that she and the film received withering reviews at the time, Nolan's film career flourished in largely supporting roles. Viewers of film noir may know her best as the corrupt wife of a dead (and equally corrupt) police officer in Fritz Lang's The Big Heat.   Jerry Nolan (May 7, 1946–January 14, 1992) was an American rock drummer, best known for his work with The New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers.
  A native of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Nolan joined The New York Dolls in the autumn of 1972 to replace Billy Murcia, who had died of asphixiation in a failed attempt to revive him from a drug overdose while on tour in England, early in the band's career. The Dolls got a record deal with Mercury Records in 1973. Nolan also was a childhood friend of Peter Criss (KISS' original drummer) who auditioned for The New York Dolls at the same time. He previously played with Wayne (Jayne) County's "Queen Elizabeth", Billy Squier's "Kicks" and was the only male member of Suzi Quatro's Detroit-based band Cradle. Jerry was drumming for the power trio "Shaker", a New York band that frequently opened for the Dolls, when he was recruited to replace Billy. Nolan played on the Dolls´ first two albums (New York Dolls and Too Much Too Soon).
  After much internal fighting and a short stint under the helm of future Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, Nolan left the Dolls together with Johnny Thunders in the spring of 1975. The two then placed a call to bassist Richard Hell, formerly of the Neon Boys and Television, to form The Heartbreakers. Soon, Walter Lure was brought into the fold and Hell was replaced by Billy Rath. In 1976, The Heartbreakers were invited to tour with the Sex Pistols on their infamous "Anarchy In The U.K." tour which also included support from The Clash and The Damned. Soon after the tour, The Heartbreakers took up permanent residence in London and played many shows throughout 1976-1977. Nolan quit the band soon after they released their only studio album, L.A.M.F. in October 1977 because he felt the album was poorly mixed. Nolan still continued to play with The Heartbreakers, but as a "hired drummer" until the end of 1977.

  Lieutenant-Colonel John Philip Nolan (1838 – 30 January 1912) was an Irish nationalist landowner and Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and as member of the Irish Parliamentary Party represented Galway County (1872–1885) and Galway North (1885–1895), (1900–1906).
  He was the eldest son of John Nolan, Justice of the Peace, of Ballinderry, Tuam, and Mary Anne, Walter Nolan, of Loughboy. He received his education at Clongowes Wood College, Stonyhurst, Trinity College, Dublin, the Staff College and Woolwich. He entered the British Royal Artillery in 1857 and served throughout the 1868 Expedition to Abyssinia. As adjutant to Colonel Milward, he was present at the capture of Amba Mariam (then known as Magdala) and was mentioned in despatches. He was awarded the Abyssinian War Medal and retired from the Army with the rank of lieutenant-colonel in 1881.

On 8 February 1872 Nolan was elected MP for Galway County in a by-election, defeating by a large majority the Conservative William Le Poer Trench.   Jonathan Nolan (born June 6, 1976) is a British-American author and screenwriter. His short story "Memento Mori" was used by his brother, director Christopher Nolan, as the basis for the screenplay for the critically acclaimed film Memento.   Joseph Nolan (1846 - 14 September 1928) was an Irish nationalist politician and Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. As a member of the Irish Parliamentary Party, he represented North Louth from 1885–92, and South Louth from 1900-18. The Irish Times (15 September 1928) said he was "One of the Fenians whom Parnellism conquered."
  Nolan was born at Castleblayney, County Monaghan. He married Mary Flinn, who had been born in County Down, in 1884. She was 12–14 years his junior. Together they had nine children, of whom two died young, leaving by 1911 three sons and four daughters. Nolan was originally a schoolteacher, in Ireland and then at a reformatory school in Liverpool. He later became manager of the Aquarium and Casino in New Brighton on the Wirral Peninsula near Liverpool, and this was his job at the time of his first election to Parliament for the new seat of North Louth in the Nationalist landslide of 1885. In this election, as the official Irish National League candidate supported by Charles Stewart Parnell, he defeated Philip Callan, who had previously sat for Co. Louth as a Home Ruler but had fallen out with Parnell and now stood as an Independent Nationalist. Nolan was then returned unopposed in 1886.

  Kevin Anthony Jance Nolan (born 24 June 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays for and is the current club captain of West Ham United F.C. in the English Premier League. An attacking midfielder, he has represented England at under-21 level.
  After growing up in Toxteth, Liverpool, Nolan signed for Bolton Wanderers at the age of 16. Part of the team that beat Preston North End in the 2001 Football League Championship play-offs to gain promotion to the Premier League, he soon became a regular first-team player for the club. He scored as Bolton beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in both of his first two seasons in the top tier of English football, as well as important goals that helped Bolton regularly finish in the top half of the Premier League table. Nolan was also a first team regular as Bolton qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time in the club's history—where they reached the knockout stages. Following the departure of Jay-Jay Okocha in 2006, Nolan was appointed as the team captain, and he led the team once again to UEFA Cup qualification and, once again, eventual progression to the knockout round of the competition.

  Leo Nolan (born August 18, 1972 Detroit, Michigan) is a United States heavyweight boxer.
  Nolan was born and raised in Detroit. As a junior he boxed for Kronk Gym for three years. He turned professional in 1992, winning his first five pro fights before his career was interrupted in 1996 after he was convicted of being an accomplice in a robbery of an off-duty police officer and sentenced to five years in prison. He was also shot five times in the incident. He was released in 2000, and after being out of boxing for almost eight years, returned to the ring in 2001. By 2007, Nolan had won all of his 26 professional fights. Past opponents include Lou Savarese, Jeremy Bates, and Andy Sample, and he has won the IBU intercontinental Heavyweight title and the IBA Americas Heavyweight Title. He suffered his first defeat to unheralded heavyweight Hector Ferreyro in 2007.
  His career was interrupted again in June 2009 when he was shot in the neck during an attempted car-jacking.

  Louis Edward Nolan
  Louis Edward Nolan (January 4, 1818 – October 25, 1854), was a British Army officer of the Victorian era, an authority on cavalry tactics best known for his controversial role in launching the disastrous Charge of the Light Brigade during the Battle of Balaclava. He was the first casualty of that engagement.
  Louis Edward Nolan (also known as Lewis or Ludwig) was born in Upper Canada, now Ontario, the third, but second surviving son of Captain John Babington Nolan, 70th Regiment of Foot, and his wife Eliza Harleston Hartley. They had met and married in Perth, Scotland in 1813. It was Eliza's third marriage, and she already had two sons living from her previous marriages to Andrew Macfarlane and Charles Macfarlane.
  The family returned to Edinburgh, Scotland in 1819, to an apartment in 79 Queen Street. Babington Nolan left the 70th Foot in 1820 and retired on half-pay. Little is known of the years which followed, but by 1829, when Louis was eleven, the family was living in Piacenza, Italy, and shortly after moved on to Milan, then within the Austrian Empire. In 1832 his father obtained an unsalaried position as British Consular Agent and Vice-Consul there.

  M. J. Nolan (born 25 January 1951) is a former Irish Fianna Fáil politician. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Carlow–Kilkenny constituency from 1982–97 and 2002–11.
  Nolan was born in Muine Bheag, County Carlow and educated at De La Salle school, Muine Bheag and Mount St. Joseph's in Roscrea, County Tipperary. He first held political office in 1973 when he became a Muine Bheag Town Council, a position which he held until 1985. He also served on Carlow County Council from 1979–2003, and in May 1982 he was nominated by the Taoiseach, Charles Haughey to the 16th Seanad.
  Nolan, the son of the former cabinet minister Tom Nolan, was first elected as a Fianna Fáil TD for the Carlow–Kilkenny constituency at the November 1982 general election. In 1991 he was one of a "gang of four" including Noel Dempsey, Liam Fitzgerald and Seán Power who tabled a motion of no confidence against Charles Haughey as Taoiseach and party leader. Nolan lost his seat at the 1997 general election to constituency colleague John J. McGuinness. He was elected to the 21st Seanad on the Agricultural Panel at a by-election in December 2001.

  Mae Ella Nolan (September 20, 1886 – July 9, 1973) was an American politician who became the fourth woman to serve in the United States Congress, the first woman elected to Congress from California, the first woman to chair a Congressional committee, the first women to win a special election for the United States Congress, and the first to fill the seat left vacant by her husband's death. She took her seat in the United States House of Representatives in 1923.
  Mae Nolan was born in San Francisco, California, and attended public schools, St. Vincent's Convent, and Ayres Business College of San Francisco.
  Nolan was elected as a Republican to the 67th Congress by special election to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband, John Ignatius Nolan, on November 18, 1922. She served in the 67th and 68th Congresses, from January 23, 1923 to March 3, 1925.
  Nolan was the fourth woman elected to Congress, after Jeannette Rankin, Alice Mary Robertson, and Winnifred Sprague Mason Huck. All four were elected as Republicans to the House of Representatives.

  Nolan graduated from Boston College and became a reporter for The Boston Globe in 1961. While with the Globe's Washington bureau, he was on the investigative team cited in the Globe's 1966 Pulitzer Prize for meritorious and disinterested public service. He covered Congress, the White House and every presidential campaign since 1968. Nolan was named Washington bureau chief in 1969. His writing earned him a spot on the master list of Nixon political opponents.
  In 1981, he became editor of the Globe's editorial page. In 1991, he resumed reporting and in 1995 moved to San Francisco to cover California and the West. In 2001, he retired from the Globe.

  Mary Nolan
  Mary Nolan (December 18, 1905 – October 31, 1948) was an American actress and dancer.
  Born Mary Imogene Robertson in Kentucky, Robertson's childhood was beset with hardship that included the death of her mother in 1908 and an absent father. As a child, she worked as a farm laborer, before moving to New York City in 1919 where she worked as a model. She was discovered by Florenz Ziegfeld, who hired her under the name Imogene Wilson (the first of three name changes she was to have) as a dancer in his follies. As a showgirl in New York she was called Bubbles. Her impact as a dancer was so profound that columnist Mark Hellinger once said of her in 1922: "Only two people in America would bring every reporter in New York to the docks to see them off. One is the President. The other is Imogene "Bubbles" Wilson."
  It was at this point that she began a long and abusive relationship with comedian Frank Tinney, which would culminate in being hospitalised for injuries he inflicted on her during an argument. Because Tinney was married to another woman, the affair caused a scandal. Nolan was fired from the Ziegfeld Follies and subsequently moved to Germany for two years. While in Germany, she made a large number of films, including Das Panzergewölbe and Verborgene Gluten.

  Michael Nicholas Nolan (May 4, 1833 – May 31, 1905) was a U.S. Representative from New York State as well as mayor of Albany, New York's capital. He was born in County Carlow, Ireland.
  Nolan immigrated to the United States at the age of ten; attended the public schools in Albany; and later went to California during the gold rush without finishing a law degree. In California, he was employed on the street railway system of San Francisco and soon became manager. He returned to Albany where he worked as a brewer, became director of the National Savings Bank of Albany, and served as fire commissioner of Albany 1869-1878. He was mayor of Albany from May 1878 to June 24, 1883 and served in the Forty-seventh Congress (March 4, 1881 - March 3, 1883). He was reelected mayor and continued his business activities. Nolan died in Albany on May 31, 1905 and is interned at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, New York.

  The son of former San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints head coach, Dick Nolan, he signed with the 49ers in 2005 to be head coach, following in his father's footsteps. Nolan joined San Francisco after establishing himself as the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, a position he held with three other teams: New York Jets (2000), Washington Redskins (1997–99), and New York Giants (1993–96).
  Nolan and the 49ers selected Alex Smith with the first overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Nolan thought Smith to be cerebral, introspective, and non-confrontational. Nolan also evaluated Aaron Rodgers but did not believe that Rodgers' attitude could co-exist with him. Nolan finished the 2005 season with a 4–12 record. Nolan led a late season run and the 49ers improved in 2006 to 7–9. That led to expectations for the 2007 season, which included at least 9 wins and a playoff appearance. The season started well at 2–0, but an 8-game losing streak ended all hope of a playoff run. During the season, he publicly disagreed with Smith over the severity of the quarterback's shoulder injury. Nolan had been under intense scrutiny in the Bay Area. After the season, Nolan lost his general manager position and on October 20, 2008, Nolan was fired and replaced by his assistant head coach Mike Singletary.

  Mike Nolan (born Michael Nolan, 7 December 1954) is a singer and was one of the four original members of the British pop group, Bucks Fizz. He was born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, but raised in the UK, where he still resides.
  After a series of dead end jobs, Mike Nolan began performing in the mid-1970s in pubs around London, playing the guitar and singing mostly old Irish ballads. He was also auditioning for a variety of groups as a vocalist.
  It was in 1976 that he successfully auditioned for his first serious band. This group went under the name Brooks and were put together by Freya Miller, who went on to manage Shakin' Stevens. The group was a four piece boyband, consisting of Nolan, Ben Ellison (who replaced Ricky Gallahad), John Humphreys and Peter Pereira. They were designed to be a 1970s version of The Monkees. Originally the group also included Chris Hamill, who went on to become famous as Limahl. Despite multiple TV appearances, magazine interviews and several singles, the group never had a hit and eventually disbanded three years later. As Nolan later reasoned, the idea of the group was 'dated'.

  Nolan made six finals appearances at the Cincinnati Masters. She won the doubles title in 1939 with Catherine Wolf, was a three-time doubles finalist (1942, 1938 and 1937), and was a two-time singles finalist (1942 & 1937).
  Nolan also won the 1939 Ohio Singles Championship and was a finalist in that tournament in 1938. At the Kentucky State Championship, she won singles titles in 1938 & 1939. She also won the Northern Kentucky tennis championship in 1931.

  Nicholas Merritt Nolan (March 10, 1835 – October 24, 1883) was a United States Army major. He began his military career on December 9, 1852 as an artilleryman then served in the 2nd Dragoons. He started as a private and rose through the ranks becoming a First Sergeant. He was commissioned an officer in late 1862 in the Regular Army while serving with the 6th U.S. Cavalry Regiment during the American Civil War. He participated in sixteen campaigns with the 6th and most of its battles. He was slightly wounded at the Battle of Fairfield and seriously wounded at the Battle of Dinwiddie Court House. He was brevetted twice and noted at least twice for gallantry during combat. He was slightly wounded when captured at the end of March 1865 and was later paroled. After the Civil War he served with the 10th U.S. Cavalry known as the Buffalo Soldiers for fourteen years. Nolan is also noted for his pluses and minuses during the Buffalo Soldier tragedy of 1877 that made headlines in the Eastern United States of America. He was the commanding officer of Henry O. Flipper in 1878, the first Negro officer who graduated from United States Military Academy at West Point. He commanded several frontier forts before his untimely death in 1883.

  Nolan Key Bushnell (born February 5, 1943) is an American engineer and entrepreneur who founded both Atari, Inc and the Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza-Time Theaters chain. Bushnell has been inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame and the Consumer Electronics Association Hall of Fame, received the BAFTA Fellowship and the Nations Restaurant News “Innovator of the Year” award, and was named one of Newsweek's "50 Men Who Changed America." Bushnell has started more than twenty companies and is one of the founding fathers of the video game industry. He is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Game Designer of Anti-Aging Games, a website of games designed to stimulate the brain and created by Bushnell and two doctorate scientists.
  Bushnell graduated from the University of Utah College of Engineering with a degree in electrical engineering in 1968 after transferring from Utah State University, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.   Nolan Neil Cromwell (born January 30, 1955) is an American football player and coach. He was an All-Pro safety for the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL and played for the University of Kansas in college where he earned All-American honors. Cromwell played for the Rams from 1977 through 1987 and was named to the Pro Bowl in four consecutive years, 1980 through 1983. He played on the Rams' 1979 Super Bowl XIV team. He was the Rams' wide receivers coach from 2010 to 2011.
  Cromwell played at Logan High School as a freshman, helping the basketball team win a state championship. When his family moved to Ransom, Cromwell earned the nickname the "Ransom Rambler" while attending Ransom High School as a standout in football, basketball and track. He was a national AAU junior champion in the decathlon, a three-time state champion in track and earned consensus All-State honors in football and basketball. He was named the Wichita Eagle’s high school football player of the decade for the 1970s.
  Cromwell, nicknamed "The Ransom Rambler", was an honorable mention All-America quarterback for the University of Kansas Jayhawks. He started at quarterback for two seasons, throwing 92 passes and completing 33 for 606 yards. He is one of KU's ten 1,000-yard rushers in school history.

  Christopher Schemering notes in his The Soap Opera Encyclopedia that "The Nolan Miller creations became so popular that Dynasty spawned its own line of women's apparel" (and later a men's fashion line). "The Dynasty Collection" was a series of haute couture designs based on costumes worn by Joan Collins, Linda Evans and Diahann Carroll.
  From 1983 to 1987, Miller was nominated six times for an Emmy Award and won an Emmy in 1984 for his work on Dynasty.   North attended the University of North Carolina with a baseball scholarship and majored in journalism. He worked as a reporter for almost a year in New Jersey before moving to New York City to pursue stand-up comedy and acting. North eventually relocated to Hollywood and was cast in the General Hospital spin-off series, Port Charles, playing Dr. Chris Ramsey during the show's run from 1997 to 2003. He married fellow Port Charles actress Jill Murray in 1999 and has two children. During Port Charles' run he worked on a few video games as a voice actor and began to focus on voice acting following Port Charles' cancelation.
  One of his most notable roles came in 2007 when he voiced and motion capped the character Nathan Drake for the video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Since then, he has continued to portray the character Drake in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (released in 2009) and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (released in 2011). In an interview with The Guardian, North reflects on his time as Drake as requiring "a lot of imagination. Motion capture is basically theatre in Spandex; there's minimal props, and you need a willingness to make an ass of yourself." North as Drake has been twice nominated at the Spike Video Game Awards in the "Best Performance by a Human Male" category.

  Nolan Richardson (born December 27, 1941) is an American basketball head coach, who was elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. He has coached teams to winning a Division I Basketball National Championship, an NIT championship, and a Junior College National Championship. Richardson is the only coach to win all three championships. He previously coached college basketball at the University of Tulsa and the University of Arkansas where he led the Razorbacks to the NCAA title in 1994. Richardson coached the Arkansas team to a second-place finish in the NCAA Tournament in 1995. Nolan Richardson's teams during his 22 seasons of coaching in NCAA Division I, made a post season tournament appearance 20 times (16 NCAA, 4 NIT).
  On October 20, 2009, Richardson was named head coach of Women's National Basketball Association's Tulsa Shock, formerly known as the Detroit Shock, a position he held until July 8, 2011. Most recently he coached the Mexican National Team.
  Richardson was born in El Segundo Barrio in El Paso, Texas, United States to Nolan Richardson Sr. and Clareast Richardson. Clareast died from a mysterious disease in 1944, leaving behind three children: Shirley, age 5, Nolan Jr., three, and Helen, six months. Eventually they moved in with the children's grandmother, Rose Richardson or Ol' Mama. Ol' Mama had a profound impact on Nolan by helping instill the drive and determination to succeed.   Lynn Nolan Ryan, Jr. (born on January 31, 1947), nicknamed "The Ryan Express", is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He is currently principal owner, president and CEO of the Texas Rangers.
  During a major league record 27-year baseball career, he pitched in 1966 and from 1968 to 1993 for four different teams: the New York Mets, California Angels, Houston Astros, and Texas Rangers. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
  Ryan, a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher, threw pitches that were regularly recorded above 100 miles per hour (160.93 km/h). The high velocity remained throughout his career, even into his 40s. Ryan was also known to throw a devastating 12–6 curveball at exceptional velocity for a breaking ball.
  While his lifetime winning percentage was a relatively pedestrian .526, Ryan was an eight-time MLB All-Star, and his 5,714 career strikeouts rank first in baseball history by a significant margin. He leads the runner-up, Randy Johnson, by 839 strikeouts. Similarly, Ryan's 2,795 bases on balls lead second-place Steve Carlton by 962—walking over 50% more hitters than any other pitcher in Major League history.   Smith is the son of the late Derek Smith, a former swingman of nine-year NBA and University of Louisville fame. The elder Smith was a starting forward on Louisville's 1980 NCAA championship team. He also played for the Cardinals in the 1982 Final Four. He was a second-round draft choice of the Golden State Warriors in 1982 and went on to play for the San Diego and Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics before retiring in 1991. His career ended prematurely due to knee problems.
  Derek battled Michael Jordan in a famous 1984 game at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, outscoring Jordan 66-20, and throwing down a huge dunk over him that is still famous on YouTube. Derek suffered a serious knee injury in the 11th game of the 1985-86 season. At the time he was the third-leading scorer in the NBA at 27.3 points per game.

  Norma Nolan (born Norma Beatriz Nolan, approx. 1938 ), is an Argentine who became, in 1962, the first woman from that country to obtain the Miss Universe title. She won the title in Miami Beach, Florida. Nolan is of Irish and Italian descent. She was born in Argentina.
  Not much is known about her after winning the Miss Universe title; Nolan kept a largely private life after her victory.   Patrick J. Nolan (born 1950) is an American lawyer, politician and conservative activist.
  Nolan began his career as a conservative activist at the age of 14 in the Goldwater for President campaign. Pat was a leader in the Youth for Reagan for Governor in 1966 and in each of Reagan's subsequent campaigns, working as a volunteer for Reagan at the 1968 (vs. Nixon), 1976 (vs. Ford)and 1980 and 1988. He joined Young Americans for Freedom after the Goldwater campaign and was active at the local state and national levels. He founded USC YAF and was elected to the National Board of Directors.
  Nolan attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Ca. He went to USC, majoring in Political Science, and received his BA in 1972. He attended USC Law School and received his JD in 1975. He rode as USC's mascot, Tommy Trojan, in the 1974 Rose Parasde. He practiced law at Kinkle, Rodiger and Spriggs in Los Angeles.

  Philip Nolan (1771 – 21 March 1801) was a horse-trader and freebooter in Natchez, on the Mississippi River, and the Spanish province of Texas.
  He is not to be confused with the fictional Philip Nolan of "The Man Without a Country" by Edward Everett Hale whose background was only loosely based on the real Philip Nolan's exploits. Hale had intended to make his fictional character Philip Nolan's brother, but, misremembering the real Nolan's name as "Nathaniel", named his character "Philip" (the apostles Philip and Nathaniel being frequently mentioned together in the New Testament). In editions printed after Hale discovered his mistake, the word "brother" was therefore changed to "cousin", and Hale wrote The Real Philip Nolan by way of atonement.
  Nolan was born to Peter Nolan and the former Elizabeth Cassidy in Belfast, Ireland, in 1771 . He was apparently well-educated. At the age of fifteen, he went to work for the Kentucky and Louisiana entrepreneur James Wilkinson as his business secretary and bookkeeper (1788–1791). He handled much of Wilkinson's New Orleans trade and became conversant in Spanish. During this time, he became acquainted with Manuel Luis Gayoso de Lemos Amorín y Magallanes, the district governor for Natchez.

  Sidney Nolan
  Sir Sidney Robert Nolan OM, AC (22 April 1917 – 28 November 1992) was one of Australia's best-known painters and printmakers.
  Nolan was born in Carlton, a suburb of Melbourne, on 22 April 1917. He was the eldest of four children. His family later moved to St Kilda. Nolan attended the Brighton Road State School and then Brighton Technical School and left school aged 14. He enrolled at the Prahran Technical College (now part of Swinburne University), Department of Design and Crafts, in a course which he had already begun part-time by correspondence. From 1933, at the age of 16, he began almost six years of work for Fayrefield Hats, Abbotsford, producing advertising and display stands with spray paints and dyes. From 1934 he attended night classes sporadically at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School.
  Nolan was a close friend of the arts patrons John and Sunday Reed, and is regarded as one of the leading figures of the so-called "Heide Circle" that also included Albert Tucker, Joy Hester, Arthur Boyd and John Perceval.

  Stephen Nolan, born Belfast in 1973, is a radio and television presenter for BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Radio Five Live. He was educated at Royal Belfast Academical Institution, and Queen's University Belfast where he studied French and Business Studies.
  Following the launch of his talk radio career on the commercial station Belfast CityBeat, Nolan's success at the Sony Awards persuaded BBC Northern Ireland to poach him for their output. Since 2003, he has presented The Stephen Nolan Show on BBC Radio Ulster. In the handover from the Gerry Anderson show at half past ten each morning Nolan is usually on the end of a putdown or witticism from Mr Anderson.
  Since July 2005, he has presented his own weekend phone-in show for BBC Radio Five Live, airing from 10pm to 1am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as one of the few Northern Irish presenters on mainstream UK radio. In doing so he spends his weekends in Manchester, from where the programmes are broadcast.
  In 2006 he was involved in a charity "boxing" match with Gerry Anderson in aid of Children in Need. Stephen Nolan was knocked down from a stray uppercut from Gerry Anderson.^{[citation needed]}

  Thomas (Tom) Nolan (27 July 1921 – 17 August 1992) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.
  Tom Nolan was born in Cappawater, Myshall, County Carlow in 1921. He was educated at the De La Salle College in Muine Bheag and joined the Irish Defence Forces shortly after his education. He first held political office in 1960 when he was elected to Carlow County Council. The following year he was nominated by the Taoiseach, Seán Lemass, to the 10th Seanad Éireann.
  Nolan was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1965 general election as a Fianna Fáil TD for Carlow–Kilkenny. He was re-elected at the next four general elections, but was defeated in the February 1982 general election, and did not stand again. Nolan had also served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in the period when MEPs were appointed by national parliaments rather than directly elected, serving from 1973 until the first direct elections in 1979.
  In the Dáil, Nolan was Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Welfare in early 1980 and held one brief Cabinet position during his career, joining the Cabinet under Charles Haughey as Minister for Labour from December 1980 to June 1981.

  William Francis Nolan (born March 6, 1928) is an American author, who writes stories in the science fiction, fantasy and horror genres. He is best known for coauthoring the novel Logan's Run, with George Clayton Johnson. He co-wrote the screenplay for the 1976 horror film Burnt Offerings which starred Karen Black and Bette Davis.
  Nolan was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute. He worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. before becoming an author.
  Among his many awards, he was voted a Living Legend in Dark Fantasy by the International Horror Guild in 2002. During 2006, he was bestowed the honorary title of Author Emeritus by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. In 2010, he received the Lifetime Achievement Stoker award from the Horror Writers Association (HWA).

  William Ignatius Nolan (May 14, 1874 - August 3, 1943) was a politician from the U.S. State of Minnesota. He represented the state in the U.S. House of Representatives.
  Nolan was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota and served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1891 to 1896.
  He was member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 1903–1907, 1911–1913, and 1917–1923, serving as speaker from 1919 - 1923. He was Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota from 1925 - 1929. Nolan was the chairman of the Minnesota Reforestation Commission in 1927.
  Nolan was elected as a Republican to the 71st congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Walter Newton. Nolan was reelected to the and 72nd congress and served from June 17, 1929, to March 3, 1933. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1932 to the 73rd congress and continued to be an unsuccessful candidate for nomination in 1934, 1936, and 1938. Nolan resumed his profession as a lecturer. He was elected State railroad and warehouse commissioner in 1942 and served until his death in Winona, Minnesota.
