Leicester Tigers 11-3 Northampton Saints | Aviva Premiership Rugby Semi Final | 14-05-11
Northampton boss Jim Mallinder claimed Leicester's England midfield prospect Manu Tuilagi should have been sent off as Saints' Aviva Premiership Rugby title dream died at Welford Road. Tigers centre Tuilagi escaped with a yellow card after punching Northampton's England wing Chris Ashton eight minutes before half-time. Ashton, who required treatment as a result, was also sin-binned after an incident that reflected a game that rarely dipped below boiling point. Tigers wing Alesana Tuilagi's late try confirmed a seventh successive Aviva Premiership Rugby final appearance for Leicester. They will meet Saracens or Gloucester at Twickenham on May 28th. But the 11-3 defeat left Mallinder questioning the decision not to send off 19-year-old Tuilagi junior. He said: "First of all, you can't have players taking players out, and you can't be hitting players directly to the head, punching. Chris Ashton did go over and give him a push, but you cannot react with three punches to the head without a red card. "It would have had an effect on the game, because they would have been down to 14 men. But Leicester played well in the second half - it is fine lines. "I think the referee did go to his assistant. All I know is I have seen it, and to me, it is a clear red card. "It's a big game, live on television and it should be one of the highlights of the Premiership season. I guess the referees and referees' assessors will have a real good look at it and work as hard as they can to make sure ...

Quins came to the party by refusing to abandon their free-flowing style, and such adventure was rewarded as skipper Chris Robshaw lifted the Aviva Premiership Rugby trophy. Tries in each half by wing Tom Williams and Robshaw - accompanied by 20 points from fly-half Nick Evans' trusty right boot - saw Quins become the sixth different club to be crowned Aviva Premiership Rugby champions after Newcastle, Leicester, Wasps, Sale and Saracens. Evans kicked six penalties and a conversion, eclipsing his 19-year-old opposite number George Ford, whose 13-point haul included conversions of both Leicester tries by flanker Steve Mafi and centre Anthony Allen. Leicester scored 10 unanswered points during the final quarter, but Quins had already done enough to consign the Tigers to their fifth defeat in eight successive Aviva Premiership Rugby Final appearances. It was the perfect send-off for England captain Robshaw and many of his Quins colleagues, who will depart next week on a three-Test tour to South Africa ...

Owen Farrell - Saracens | Aviva Premiership Player of the Month
Owen Farrell - Aviva Premiership Player of the Month Owen Farrell is a rugby union player (born 21 September 1991) currently playing for Aviva PremierShip Rugby side Saracens. He is Andy Farrell's son. His primary position is centre, but he often plays flyhalf/centre. He held the record of youngest ever player to appear in English professional rugby union after playing for Saracens 11 days after his 17th birthday, in a 26--17 home defeat against Llanelli Scarlets in the EDF Energy Cup on 5 October 2008,[2] until this record was broken in November 2009 by Leicester's George Ford, the son of another former Rugby League international (Mike Ford). In the 2010--11 season, Farrell signed for Bedford Blues on loan. However, he returned to Saracens and was pivotal in the 2010-11 Aviva Premiership Final kicking five penalties and converting James Short's try for a personal haul of 17 points in the 22-18 victory over reigning champions Leicester Tigers. Leicester Tigers 30-25 Northampton Saints - Aviva Premiership Rugby Highlights Round 10 | 03-12-11
Late try gives Tigers the derby points Leicester Tigers snatched a dramatic bonus-point win over Northampton Saints in a pulsating East Midlands showdown at Welford Road. The match was contested by two teams of 14 for over an hour after Chris Ashton's clash with Alesana Tuilagi resulted in red cards for the Tigers winger and Northampton flanker Tom Wood. Leicester led after tries from Matt Smith, Steve Mafi and Ben Youngs, Ashton with Northampton's only reply at that stage. Tom May cut the deficit and Ashton set up Phil Dowson to put the Saints ahead for the first time since the opening 10 minutes, but Horacio Agulla edged the Tigers back in front late on. After a spell of Northampton pressure which saw referee Wayne Barnes knocked off his feet by a runner, an offside infringement allowed Ryan Lamb to boot the Saints in front. Toby Flood equalised in the 11th minute before the game burst into life. Ashton had barged into a couple of physical challenges early on. And it spilled over as Ashton tackled Tuilagi's elder brother Alesana out of play by his hair, sparking a fracas against the front of the stand which engulfed a dozen players and an unfortunate ball-boy. Despite not connecting with a punch, Alesana Tuilagi was red-carded along with Wood, who was spotted by the far-side touch judge throwing two punches. Agulla and team-mate Geordan Murphy were, like Ashton, fortunate to escape punishment. A lightning Saints break led by Ben Foden was stopped by Smith's tackle on ...

Gloucester Rugby 29-23 Harlequins - Aviva Premiership Rugby Highlights Round 16 | 25-02-12
Gloucester run goes on with win over Quins Two tries from full-back Ross Chisholm were not enough to help stuttering Harlequins as the Aviva Premiership Rugby leaders slumped to defeat at Gloucester. Quins will be kicking themselves back down the motorway after they had Gloucester in trouble a few times in the second half but could not get the tries to recover from an early setback. Wing Charlie Sharples, full-back Jonny May and flanker Akapusi Qera grabbed Gloucester's tries, with fly-half Freddie Burns booting four penalties and a conversion. As well as Chisholm's tries, Quins' other points came from fly-half Nick Evans' boot with three penalties and two conversions. After Saracens' surprise loss to Worcester on Friday night, Harlequins were left kicking themselves with the knowledge before kick-off that victory at Kingsholm would open up a nine-point gap on their London rivals. But they started the match in the worst possible way to go 10 points down after as many minutes. It was former England winger James Simpson-Daniel who became a real thorn in the Quins' side during those early stages. Just moments after Burns had booted a monster 49-metre penalty to give the home team the lead, Simpson-Daniel almost got a try when he dashed downfield only for an excellent tackle to bring him down just short. However, set free on the right, the flyer superbly dummied the Quins defence to put Sharples in for a converted try. Evans added to the 159 points he has scored this season ...

Saracens 19 v 20 Leicester Tigers - Aviva Premiership Rugby Highlights Round 15 | 19-02-12
The official Youtube channel of Premiership Rugby with exclusive news, match highlights, player profiles and more. Leicester skipper Geordan Murphy ended Saracens' unbeaten home record with a sensational drop-goal with the last kick of a gripping Aviva Premiership Rugby game. Sarries were heading for victory at Vicarage Road when Tigers launched an astonishing 26-phase attack that ended with the Ireland full-back's goal. Saracens' last home defeat was to Exeter - in October 2010, and their overall record over 52 weeks is 32 wins from 36 games. The first set-piece after 58 seconds left Leicester down to 14 players. Lock Ed Slater was sin-binned following a mid-air clash that saw Saracens number eight Jackson Wray fall heavily to the ground. But Alex Goode's penalty attempt drifted just wide of the right hand post. Inspired by Schalk Brits, Saracens took their game to a Leicester side armed with more of their regular Test stars than their hosts. And the pressure told in the 10th minute with Thomas Waldrom penalised for not releasing. It was a simpler kick than his first, but Goode's second penalty attempt rebounded off the upright. Leicester showed how it was done with their first shot at goal, awarded when Goode was tackled and failed to release. Toby Flood made no mistake with a spot-on kick after 12 minutes. Saracens repeated attempts at counter-attacking failed, but then so did Flood's second attempt on goal, a long-range effort after Carlos Nieto blocked Thomas ...

London Wasps 35 - 29 Leicester Tigers - Aviva Premiership Rugby Highlights Round 2 | 11-09-11
Wonderful Wade inflicts woe on Tigers Christian Wade scored a hat-trick of tries as Wasps beat Leicester 35-29 to condemn the Tigers to back-to-back defeats to start the new Aviva Premiership Rugby season. 5 Share Billy Twelvetrees scored all of Leicester's points with a pair of tries, two conversions and five penalties to at least secure a losing bonus point. But having beaten reigning champions Saracens at Twickenham last weekend, Wasps made it a dream start for new rugby director Dai Young by beating the 2010 champions. Wasps fielded five home debutants in Hugo Southwell, Chris Bell, Nicky Robinson, Marco Wentzel and Jonathan Poff. But scrum-half Charlie Davies failed a fitness-test an hour before kick-off and was replaced by Nic Berry. Leicester, beaten at home by Exeter last weekend, continue to function under the handicap of being without 11 players who are on World Cup duty, and five out injured including Jordan Crane, Craig Newby and Julian White. But they put Wasps under pressure from the kick-off, and when flanker Poff went off his feet at the breakdown, Twelvetrees opened the scoring with a penalty. Former Wales fly-half Robinson had the opportunity to equalise on nine minutes, but shanked his shot. Robinson made amends on 12 minutes, his penalty soaring high and turning in late to equalise. Twelvetrees struck again on on 15 minutes after Wasps were penalised at a scrum. The centre's penalty virtually corkscrewed in flight so it swung out wide then turned in ...
