The celebrations kicked off with a symposium, debate and interactive question and answer session which hosted entertainment mogul, Mr Ben Bruce, erstwhile politician and past governor of Cross River state, Mr Donald Duke, spokesperson for the Kuti family and debate moderator, Mrs Yemisi Ransome Kuti. The session also included Mr Idowu Mabinuori and renowned poet and writer, Mr Odia Ofeimun.Also present was the Boss of the NDLEA, Mr Iweajunwa. Each speaker on relevant societal issues which Fela had adressed.

Ake production is releasing a series of sneak previews from the range of nearly completed scenes already in post production.
Ake is based on the childhood memoir by Nigerian Nobel Prize winner in literature, Wole Soyinka. It is mainly a tale of upgrowing memories in the writer's family home in Ake, Abeokuta, Nigeria. His father was the headmaster of the Christian missionary school, Ake. The home was situated within the Ake parsonage compound but childhood recapitulations extend to other locations in Abeokuta and beyond. They include the Abeokuta Grammar School where he would later have a half-year stint; the Alake (paramount ruler's) palace and environs, later transformed into the staging ground of one of the most significant events in Nigerian history, The Egba Women's Riot, organized by the Egba Women's Movement led by Funmilayo Ransome--Kuti (the writer's aunt and mother of the musician Fela) as well as the writer's own mother, Eniola, dubbed in the book as "The Wild Christian." The women would clash not only with the traditional authority but also with the colonial establishment. The production of the feature film on Ake in recent months has been concentrated on the HM's home and household. Young Wole is the object of household intrigue and conspiracies aimed at bringing him out of his reclusive shell. He also steals hand--scoops of Lactogen baby milk belonging to his younger sister Folashade.

In 1978 she married jazz musician Tunde Kuboye and together in Lagos they opened Jazz 38. By night Jazz 38 functioned as a music club for live musicians, mostly headlined by Kuboye's own band, The Extended Family Band. By day Jazz 38 functioned as the city's Centre For The Arts, "promoting internationalism through musical and youth development programmes" with a focus on the rights and welfare of the city's youth. During the 80s and early 90s Kuboye did several tours around the world with husband Tunde, their music described in the Wall Street Journal as "being more inventive than most other musicians anywhere". Sadly, Kuboye died suddenly in 1997, leaving behind three children.

Sunday 18 October was the final day of Felabration; a weeklong annual musical jamboree to celebrate the life, times, music, and ideology of the phenomenon called Fela. Born Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Ransome-Kuti on 15 October 1938, this scion of the popular Ransome-Kuti family of Abeokuta was a singer/songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. They gained worldwide popularity as a foremost Nigerian family. The family has put the country on the world map, being as popular for their musical heritage, as they are for their political activism. Fela’s musical genius was never in doubt, and even in death, eighteen years on; his great body of work is still being studied, enjoyed, and reworked, finding a presence in every corner of the globe. An off Broadway production of Fela Anikulapo- Kuti’s life titled Fela, and a full length documentary titled Finding Fela have even been produced.

His father was the headmaster of the Christian missionary school, Ake. The home was situated within the Ake parsonage compound but childhood recapitulations extend to other locations in Abeokuta and beyond. They include the Abeokuta Grammar School where he would later have a half-year stint; the Alake (paramount ruler's) palace and environs, later transformed into the staging ground of one of the most significant events in Nigerian history, The Egba Women's Riot, organized by the Egba Women's Movement led by Funmilayo Ransome--Kuti (the writer's aunt and mother of the musician Fela) as well as the writer's own mother, Eniola, dubbed in the book as "The Wild Christian." The women would clash not only with the traditional authority but also with the colonial establishment. The production of the feature film on Ake in recent months has been concentrated on the HM's home and household. Young Wole is the object of household intrigue and conspiracies aimed at bringing him out of his reclusive shell. He also steals hand--scoops of Lactogen baby milk belonging to his younger sister Folashade.

They gained worldwide popularity as a foremost Nigerian family. The family has put the country on the world map, being as popular for their musical heritage, as they are for their political activism. Fela’s musical genius was never in doubt, and even in death, eighteen years on; his great body of work is still being studied, enjoyed, and reworked, finding a presence in every corner of the globe. An off Broadway production of Fela Anikulapo- Kuti’s life titled Fela, and a full length documentary titled Finding Fela have even been produced.

Après le succès de la tournée "Les Enfants du Siècle Tour 2009-2011" Assassin reprend la route pour "La Tournée 2012"
Pour la première fois, le mythique combo parisien passe en 100% live band. Rockin' Squat, artiste libre depuis plus de 20 ans dans le Hip Hop, s'entoure à partir du 5 octobre 2012 pour 13 dates d'un groupe de dinosaures de la musique internationale.
Cheick Tidiane Seck, légende vivante des notes en tous genres l'accompagnera sur scène. Depuis trente-cinq ans, l'organiste malien est de toutes les aventures musicales, du jazz aux musiques d'Afrique, d'Inde, en passant par le groove international ou le hip hop. Vétéran du légendaire Rail Band du Buffet Hôtel de la Gare de Bamako, pionnier du Moog en Afrique de l'Ouest, membre fondateur des Asselars, il devient un pilier de la fertile scène ivoirienne de la fin des années 1970. Il a partagé des scènes et collaboré avec Stevie Wonder, Hank Jones, Joe Zawinul, Amadou & Mariam, Livin Colour, Dee Dee Bridgewater ou Carlos Santana pour ne citer qu'eux.
Il y aura aussi Marque Gilmore dans cette aventure, autre légende de la musique, inventeur de la drum & bass, sa notoriété est mondiale. Il a collaboré avec des artistes comme Roy Ayers, Parliament / Funkadelic, MeShell N'Degeocello ou le pianiste cubain Omar Sosa.
Autour de ces deux piliers, il y a aussi 4 autres musiciens de talent : Madou Koné, Momo Hafsi, Ahmed Fofana et le griot mandingue Kaabi Kouyaté.
Rockin' Squat adapte les titres d'Assassin dans une dimension jazz, soul, africaine, expérimental qui va en surprendre plus d'un. Une rencontre qui reflète une liberté musicale insolente. Le Hip Hop n'a pas de limite et cette tournée qui se clôture par la date du Casino de Paris le 2 décembre 2012 est là pour nous le prouver une bonne fois pour toute ! Le rendez-vous est pris.

C'est le sentiment d'un énorme gâchis qui anime les observateurs avertis qui sort de cette soirée organisée dans un cafouillage total ce Vendredi 2 Mai 2014 à l'Espace Venise de Sarcelles, des musiciens mécontents de ne pouvoir s'exprimer à leur aise à cause de l'amateurisme de ceux qui sont censés s'occuper avec minutie du branchement du matériel, le public qui n'a pas été associé à l'organisation de cet évènement qui devait réunir le plus grand Monde et qui l'a boudé alors qu'on a annoncé plus de cinquante artistes de divers pays.
Nous ne remercierons jamais assez les artistes étrangers comme Cheick Tidiane Seick du Mali ou l'ivoirien Meiway qui ont redoré le blason cette soirée que les organisateurs ont voulu réduire à la dimension familiale, comme si c'est seulement cette famille de Ndinga Man qui achetait ses œuvres.

We met Cheick Tidiane on the festival charter flight from Bamako to Timbuktu. A towering figure on the Malian music scene; keyboardist, composer, and performer and arranger of popular and traditional Malian music. He is a prolific and experienced traditional musician with many international musical collaborations under his belt. He arrived at the festival accompanied by a clutch of home-grown, African and international musical talents to perform at the grande finale of the festival on Saturday night with The Cheick Tidiane Seck jam session. We met Cheick Tidiane on the festival charter flight from Bamako to Timbuktu.
A towering figure on the Malian music scene; keyboardist, composer, and performer and arranger of popular and traditional Malian music. He is a prolific and experienced traditional musician with many international musical collaborations under his belt.
He arrived at the festival accompanied by a clutch of home-grown, African and international musical talents to perform at the grande finale of the festival on Saturday night with The Cheick Tidiane Seck jam session.
The small BBC team visited the guest house where he and the musicians were staying in order to record an interview he had agreed to do with BBC Network Africa in London.
As we tried to get a link with London, he happily chatted away on his mobile phone to his friend and former collaborator, Salif Keita - Cheick Tidiane knows eveyone who's anyone here.

We met Cheick Tidiane on the festival charter flight from Bamako to Timbuktu.
A towering figure on the Malian music scene; keyboardist, composer, and performer and arranger of popular and traditional Malian music. He is a prolific and experienced traditional musician with many international musical collaborations under his belt.
He arrived at the festival accompanied by a clutch of home-grown, African and international musical talents to perform at the grande finale of the festival on Saturday night with The Cheick Tidiane Seck jam session.
The small BBC team visited the guest house where he and the musicians were staying in order to record an interview he had agreed to do with BBC Network Africa in London.
As we tried to get a link with London, he happily chatted away on his mobile phone to his friend and former collaborator, Salif Keita - Cheick Tidiane knows eveyone who's anyone here.

The celebrations kicked off with a symposium, debate and interactive question and answer session which hosted entertainment mogul, Mr Ben Bruce, erstwhile politician and past governor of Cross River state, Mr Donald Duke, spokesperson for the Kuti family and debate moderator, Mrs Yemisi Ransome Kuti. The session also included Mr Idowu Mabinuori and renowned poet and writer, Mr Odia Ofeimun.Also present was the Boss of the NDLEA, Mr Iweajunwa. Each speaker on relevant societal issues which Fela had adressed.

Ake production is releasing a series of sneak previews from the range of nearly completed scenes already in post production. Ake is based on the childhood memoir by Nigerian Nobel Prize winner in literature, Wole Soyinka. It is mainly a tale of upgrowing memories in the writer's family home in Ake, Abeokuta, Nigeria. His father was the headmaster of the Christian missionary school, Ake. The home was situated within the Ake parsonage compound but childhood recapitulations extend to other locations in Abeokuta and beyond. In 1978 she married jazz musician Tunde Kuboye and together in Lagos they opened Jazz 38. By night Jazz 38 functioned as a music club for live musicians, mostly headlined by Kuboye's own band, The Extended Family Band. Memorial Ceremony in honor of Kingsley Nwabuisi
Kingsley Nwabuisi was scheduled to graduate as a Medical Doctor on 22nd June 2013, but in March 2013 he was diagnosed with liver cancer. After a tough battle with the illness, he died on 5th May 2013. The Nigerian Students Association of Lugansk State Medical University (NSA-LSMU) in conjunction with the foreign Students council of LSMU, and several other groups organized this memorial ceremony in his honor on 17th May 2013 (the same day he was buried in Nigeria). May the soul of this gentle, humble and diligent man rest in peace. Amen
