Waverley Greens (Heil PT1000) Pt 1
Waverley Greens (Heil PT1000) Pt 1
On one Tuesday of the 08/09 summer holidays, I made an early visit to Waverley Council, found on the coastal side of Sydney. This council is also known for it's tight streets and laneways, so you can guess rear loaders are used for all the collections. You'll also notice this council uses wheelie bins for all their collections, which were introduced around mid-way in 2008. In this video we have the fortnightly green-waste collection, featuring one of the many old Heil PT1000s which used to operate in the council, operated by a friendly crew who I'd like to give a massive thanks to. Also notice how all the bins are presented in the back lanes? For this area at least, when I went into the actual streets I was lucky to spot even one bin sometimes... it can be deceiving to know whether or not it is garbage day. Anyway fellas, hope you enjoy the footage of another Heil you can find down here in Oz. It would be awesome if you rated and commented, and make sure you take a look at the second video of the greens collection, as well as the recycling and garbage videos. Locals not happy with Waverley Council's half finished seating without roofs in Bronte Beach Reserve .Ratepayers have been shocked to see previously shaded seating & tables now without roofs. They seem half-finished. Residents visiting Bronte Beach are really disappointed to be sitting on seats without sun protecting roofs. The seats and tables, under the roof provide protection from the sun. In Australia there is a high risk of skin cancer. An internet search of Council documents failed to provide a satisfactory answer why the roofs are missing

Waverley Paper Recycling (Truck #502)
Waverley Paper Recycling (Truck #502)
This was the truck I was lucky enough to catch on the initial Tuesday visit, also in the familiar laneways of Queens Park where I videoed the PT1000s. I got the bottles on video last time, so on this occasion I stopped by during paper week for the quieter collection. This truck is also clearly loaded up with the blade at the front and the packer struggling - unless the hydraulics have failed :PA thanks to the team, hope you enjoy the action featuring truck 502. Also you've gotta love the sound of this engine right at the start of the video; sounded much better being there in person though. Revs smoothly at the start, then as the packer hydraulics overpressure, she begins to roar deeper. After that you get the pressure changes when the lifter valves are opened, which has another effect... IMO the combination of engine sounds are priceless =]

Waverley Garbage (Truck #320)
Waverley Garbage (Truck #320)
The last couple of Waverley videos I have to upload, with truck 502 on paper in the other video and truck 320 on garbage in this video. You'll also notice this truck is a MacDonald Johnston / Hino, which were also in use when the PT1000s were around. Not entirely sure on how many of these are found in Waverley, but I know there are at least three of them; two without signage like shown and there's one with some livery on the side. I am pretty sure I saw another one of these, except it was a UD instead of a Hino, haven't seen it around for a while though. Anyway here are the guys servicing a number of houses and apartments along a single street on a Friday morning in Bronte - a bit of a slow start, but then they get into it. I took a short video of the bottles truck on this same street, but unfortunately the footage didn't turn out the best due to the low early morning sun. Big thanks to the team and hope you enjoy the action. I've just been thinking the last week too, I might drop by Waverley again in the future to get some more footage of the trucks. Also happy new year to everyone, all the best in the year to come.

Waverley Garbage (Truck #501) Pt 1
Waverley Garbage (Truck #501) Pt 1
A couple of weeks over two years ago I made a return visit to Waverley for the new machinery they are using over there. I don't know how many of you saw my original Waverley videos from ages ago with the old PT1000 / Hinos, but those trucks have now been replaced with brand new Formula 4000 / Ivecos. Not sure exactly what the situation was, but apparently the dimensions of the existing trucks weren't right. A while ago I posted some Binksie Services videos which showed a couple of the first trucks getting fixed up. Now you get a look at them in their bright yellow paint scheme with the unique "canopy" on top of the tailgate which covers the hopper. The trucks look pretty much the same these days, just not as sparkling + clean and they also have some signage on the body. It was actually an effort getting some footage of the trucks too - took three frustrating visits until I was satisfied. On two Tuesdays I visited Queens Park just like last time, but I was very late on both occasions, only managing to video a recycling team running a little late. Then I set back out early enough on a Friday morning to catch a few trucks around the Friday service area of Bronte. In total I caught #501 on garbage, #502 on paper, #209 on bottles and #320 on garbage. I came across a PT1000 on green-waste again, but unfortunately I didn't end up filming the truck for the last time. So for Waverley upload 1 of 2, I bring two videos of new truck 501 on the Bronte garbage run during a Friday mid ...

Waverley Garbage (Truck #501) Pt 2
I saw this elevated section of road coming up and took the opportunity for a different angle. Turned out pretty well, just would've been better with a cleaner camera lense again and there was some wind which cut the audio out a little bit. Engine sounded awesome in person from this point, being basically right above the exhaust where the best soundwaves are released... also loved those short bursts of throttle he gives as he crawls forward. Pretty tight spot to get through, but it can definitely get worse than this - good fun manoeuvring a truck through this kind of street =]
