Chroma Key Techniques | Digital Compositing | Blue Screen
For motion-pictures, a complex and time consuming process once known as "travelling matte" was used prior to the introduction of digital compositing. The blue screen and traveling matte method were developed in the 1930s at RKO Radio Pictures and other studios, and were used to create special effects for The Thief of Bagdad (1940). At RKO, Linwood Dunn used travelling matte to create "wipes" -- where there were transitions like a windshield wiper in films such as Flying Down to Rio (1933).

Photorealistic Architectural Rendering - Compositing in Adobe Photoshop
This is an overview of my photorealistic rendering technique with 3dsMax and Adobe Photoshop. www.cmistudio.com Welcome to another tutorial brought to you by Creative Media Illustration. My name is Les Chylinski and in this tutorial I am doing an overview of my production process of this rendering. This was an interesting rendering assignment because I had a chance to do my own photography. The site of the condominium project is located across the Mississippi from downtown Minneapolis. To take the photos of downtown I had to clime up to the top of exiting part of the mill that will be torn down to make room for this project. In this slide I marked my location from which I was taking the photos and I also sketched in the shape of the existing mill that would be torn down. The roof of this existing mill was too low for the required vantage point so I had to create an illusion in Photoshop that we were positioned about 50 feet higher. All of my photos were taken on an overcast day and that's another thing that I had to modify in Photoshop. I positioned the sun behind the building on the left -- which makes it this an early morning shot with long shadows. For this rendering the client provided me with the SketchUp model which was a little out of date and more accurate Revit model. I decided to use the SketchUp model to set the camera and use it as a place holder for the final render of the building. After I set up my shot I find the vanishing points that I will need for ...

StarGazer II: Extreme Compositing/Star Trails 720p HD
Enjoy in full screen HD with headphones and the lights out for full effect! Take a spectacular trip into space watching these real time-lapse images of the night sky! The video sequences are created using a recently-developed compositing technique, which adds individual still frames together, making residual light from previous frames continue on into subsequent frames, resulting in trails left by bright objects in the sky. Many aircraft navigation lights and even a few meteors are captured in the 8000+ frames used to make this movie. Cameras: Canon SX10-is, Canon S5-is The soundtrack is "Lunar Seas" (Alt-Rev Mix) from the StarSpin EP/CD byTechnician (yours truly). Full artist discography, MP3 downloads and CDs are available at the Technician website: technician.jcmdi.com Individual clips now available on the JCMDIstockfootage channel for use in commercial projects as well as in your own non-commercial YouTube videos (see below). Note This is copyrighted material, however, you may download this footage directly from YouTube and use it free of charge in your own non-profit/non-commercial YouTube videos. Digital Rendering & Compositing Workflow Montage | Maya, Photoshop, Mari, Nuke
READ: This project was mostly a short rendering stress test for my new computer build. The set was modeled in Maya, textures were done in Photoshop & Mari, and the final images were rendered with Mental Ray and composited with Nuke. I spent a little over a week and a half on it including rendering. THE SYSTEM: CoolerMaster HAF 922 w/ Asus M4A88TD-V motherboard. AMD 1090T @ Stock 3.2Ghz on 6 physical cores. 16GB of DDR3 G.Skill RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 w/ 2GB of video memory. WD 640GB main drive. 1500, 2000 (3.5 Terabytes) of storage/backup drives. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I may run a dual boot with Linux (Fedora) later. Benchmark Scores after OS install and drivers: Maxon's CINEBENCH v11.5 CPU: 5.64 OpenGL: 38.94 FPS Unigine's Heaven - DirectX11 video card test: 1280x720 windowed. Everything on highest settings, anti-aliasing disabled. Tessellation on the "extreme" preset. (About half of maxed) Average FPS: 33.1 Scores: 829 MODELING: As you can see in the video the overall modeling is basic at best- I didn't even open up zBrush or Mudbox for sculpting detail or really do any kind of UV layouts. This is because I wanted to get to the rendering stage as quickly as possible. I payed little if no attention to scaling, units or generating any kind of reasonable detail here because I'm saving such intensive workloads for the much bigger, full-scale kind of projects. There's four kinds of trees in the final shot and each one was created by Maya's built-in Paint Effects L ...

Photoshop Tutorial - Compositing Images
Bestselling apps now free: bit.ly In this video, Mahalo's Photoshop expert Justin Zagri demonstrates how to composite an image for added effect. Photoshop Tutorial - Compositing Images --------------------------------------------------------------------- The cityscape that you have been destroying is coming along, but you still need to add some other quick elements to increase the effects of old age and dilapidation. Conduct a Google image search for "stained paper." Pick an image that contains elements of old rust and dirt. If you need to, adjust the Saturation by navigating to the top menu bar and clicking Image -- Adjustments -- Hue/Saturation. When it's ready, move the stained paper image over to the cityscape and place it behind the buildings. Try placing it behind two buildings next to each other. Grab the Eraser Tool and get rid of any extraneous area of the stained paper you don't want in the image. Once you've erased the extra area of the stained paper you don't want, place its layer in front of the cityscape. Move the stained paper back over on top of the area you just erased from. It should rest directly on top of the two buildings that it previously sat behind. In the drop down menu in the Layers panel, there are many compositing options. Try Color Burn to composite the stained paper over the buildings. Also, try reducing the Opacity to 50%. You may want to copy elements of this to paste over the rest of the buildings, but you basically achieve the effect of ...
