Nenagh Eire Og Bob O Brien Speech North Tipperary minor hurling champions 2012
Saturday, November 3rd North Tipperary Minor A Hurling Final Nenagh Éire Óg 1-14 Kildangan 1-9 Éire Óg collected their sixth successive North Tipperary Minor A Hurling title following a tough battle with Kildangan at Moneygall this afternoon - while Éire Óg had never won six in-a-row before both Roscrea (1958-63) and Toomevara (1993-98) previously managed this unique feat. Kildangan had beaten Éire Óg (3-15 to 2-16) during the group stage of this year's championship and entered this final as marginal favourites to win a first-ever North Tipperary minor A hurling title. Éire Óg played with the wind in the opening half, but trailed 0-2 to 1-2 following a Tadhg Gallagher goal in the 13th minute. Nenagh responded brilliantly however with points from Bob O'Brien, Donnacha Quinn ('65) and Gary Howard reeling Kildangan in before points from Andrew Coffey and Philip Hickey helped Éire Óg into a 0-7 to 1-2 lead. Kildangan closed out the half with a point of their own to leave just one between them at the break - Nenagh Éire Óg 0-7 Kildangan 1-3. Kildangan, considering the fact that they were now playing with an absolute gale of a wind, now found themselves in a very strong position. Indeed, Kildangan's prospects improved significantly with two points helping them into a 1-5 to 0-7 lead by the 34th minute. Éire Óg fought back however with points from Bob O'Brien and a Donnacha Quinn free helping the defending champions into a 0-9 to 1-5 lead. Kildangan managed a response, but Éire ...

Nenagh Eire Og V Kilruane U21 Semi 2012
Saturday, December 1st North Tipperary Under-21A Hurling Semi-Final Nenagh Éire Óg 1-8 Kilruane MacDonagh's 1-15 Kilruane MacDonagh's progressed to the final of the under-21A hurling championship at the expense of Éire Óg in Toomevara this afternoon - while Éire Óg won the second half on a 1-4 to 0-5 scoreline Kilruane were very good value for their win. A poor first half display saw the Blues tr ail 0-4 to 1-10 at the break. Indeed, Éire Óg could have found themselves further adrift - 'keeper Kevin Flynn made a fine save in the opening half while Kilruane also fired nine wides (Éire Óg one). A David Hickey point in the 11th minute left just one point between them (0-2 to 0-3), but a Kilruane goal in the 12th and three further points helped the MacDonagh's into an ultimately significant 1-6 to 0-3 lead. Éire Óg improved in the second half, but wides (nine in all, Kilruane five) frustrated their efforts somewhat and Kilruane always seemed capable of responding to the Éire Óg challenge. Kilruane led 1-15 to 0-8 in the 57th minute when Éire Óg pieced together a great move which culminated when Mark Tuite buried a rasping right-hand shot. Although this performance was disappointing following wins over Borris-Ileigh and Lorrha-Dorrha it is encouraging to note that the vast majority of the panel are underage again next year. This experience (although bitter) will stand to the lads. The club would like to thank the players and the management team (John Heffernan, Noel Maloney ...

Nenagh Eire Og V St Marys Clonmel Tipperary minor hurling 2012
Saturday, November 24th County Minor A Hurling Final Nenagh Éire Óg 2-16 St Mary's Clonmel 1-6 Éire Óg won their seventh county minor A hurling title thanks a devastating first half display which saw the north champions race into a 2-10 to 0-2 interval lead. Éire Óg, having previously claimed county minor A hurling titles in 1969, 1977, 1978, 1991, 1992 and 2008, travelled to the Mid Tipperary venue on Saturday as hot favourites to see off south champions St Mary's Clonmel who were chasing a first-ever minor A title having previously lost the decider in 1954 and 1985. The sides were locked at a point apiece in the eighth minute, but Éire Óg then exploded into devastating life. Indeed, Éire Óg fired 1-7 without reply before a second three-pointer helped Nenagh into a 2-10 to 0-2 interval advantage. Éire Óg's opening goal arrived in the 20th minute when James Mackey beat his man with a clever flick. The ball then broke to Donnacha Quinn who raced through before firing home a rasping left-handed shot - 1-6 to 0-1. Éire Óg were good value for a second goal which materialised in the 29th minute. This time the full-forward line worked tirelessly to deny St Mary's an opportunity to clear their lines. Ultimately, the ball broke to a lurking Donnacha Quinn who lashed home his shot from a tight angle. Captain Bob O'Brien accepted the cup from County Board chairman Seán Nugent. Nenagh Eire Og Holycross Tipperary Minor hurling semi 2012
Saturday, November 17th County Minor A Hurling Semi-Final Nenagh Éire Óg 2-10 Holycross-Ballycahill 0-13 Nenagh Éire Óg got the better of Holycross-Ballycahill in a superb county minor A hurling semi-final hosted at Dolla this afternoon. There was little to choose between the sides following a terrific open half of hurling (1-5 to 0-8) with Luke Kennedy flicking home an Éire Óg goal following ab ooming Barry Heffernan clearance in the 11th minute. Despite now playing against the wind Holycross-Ballycahill made a determined effort early in the second half and led 0-12 to 1-7 by the 41st minute. Éire Óg were superb in the final third of the game however and out-scored the Mid Tipperary champions 1-3 to 0-1 when it mattered most. Éire Óg's second goal materialised in the 44th minute when Donnacha Quinn passed to Bob O'Brien and the team captain fired a left-handed shot into the roof of the net. Following a win over Cashel King Cormacs in their respective semi-final Nenagh Éire Óg will now face St Mary's, Clonmel in the decider. Nenagh Éire Óg: Darragh Gleeson, Niall Kennedy, Michael Collins, Conor Ryan, Adam Grattan, Barry Heffernan, Aodhán Geaney, Andrew Coffey (0-1), Killian Gleeson, Bob O'Brien (captain, 1-0), Donnacha Quinn (0-6, 0-3 frees), Shane Hennessy (0-1), Gary Howard, Luke Kennedy (1-0), James Mackey (0-1). Subs: (35th) Philip Hickey (0-1) for Gary Howard, (58th) Gavin O'Connor for Luke Kennedy. Holycross-Ballycahill: Liam Moloney, Jack Skehan, Kieran O'Dwyer ...
