British Railways re-built Merchant Navy Class No: 35028 Clan Line powers the Down Steam Dreams Cathedral's Express past Wandsworth Road. Clan Line and train were heading East along the South London Line. The train started at Cambridge (Eastern England) headed by a diesel and was heading for Canterbury-West. Clan Line will haul the Up train later this evening as far as Battersea Loop. Originally this train was supposed to be hauled by re-built West Country Pacific Braunton but Braunton is still not ready for main-line running. Therefore Steam Dreams got Clan Line to substitute. However, as Clan Line hauled the VSOE yesterday the Merchant Navy Locomotive Association could not get Clan Line to Cambridge so Clan Line took over from the diesel at Battersea Loop. It's Thursday 19th July 2012 at 12:33 hours and Clan Line was right on time. I was standing at the Up end of Platform 1 which is used by Down Southern commuter trains and passed by many freight trains. As Clan Line climbs the hill to Factory Junction the Down South London Line Starter remains road so Clan Line shuts off and drifts past me. As Clan Line gets very close to the signal it turns green and you can Clan Line move off up the steeply graded line with a heavy load. The 2 Up South Eastern trains in the film. The 1st is the 10:55 Orpington-London-Victoria commuter train. The 2nd train is the 09:40 Ramsgate/09:45 Dover-Priory to London-Victoria train. The train' 2 parts join at Faversham. British Railways 7P6F Britannia Class No: 70000 Britannia powers past Wandsworth Town Station at the head of the Steam Dreams Down Cathedral's Express from London-Victoria to Swanage. It was 09:06 on Thursday 14th June 2012 and the weather was bright sunshine and warm. I was standing on Platform 1, next to the Down Windsor Main while Britannia ran through on the Down Relief Line. For the 2nd day running I've captured the sound of an engine working hard. Britannia was 3 minutes late and did not ease off even though it was running down-hill. Just turn your volume up and listen. The sound is amazing. Last night I filmed Clan Line working hard and running late, just like Britannia today. Although Britannia was late Network Rail put it ahead of the 09:05 Weybridge train so, no doubt, the driver was told to get a move on. From Wandsworth Town Britannia will run down-hill to Barnes where it will turn onto the Hounslow Loop. Britannia will re-join the Windsor Main-line at Feltham and will stop to collect passengers at Staines.From Staines Britannia will proceed on the Reading line until Virginia Water where it will take the Weybridge commuter line joining the South-Western main-line at Byfleet and New Haw. Britannia will then call at Woking and Farnborough then, at Worting Junction it will take the West of England main-line stopping at Overton for Water. After Overton it will take the cross-country line from Salisbury to Eastleigh where it will join the Bournemouth main line ...
