Marc Morano: Climate Change Misinformer Of The Year
ClimateDepot.com founder Marc Morano has been called "the Matt Drudge of climate denial," the "king of the skeptics," and "a central cell of the climate-denial machine," and he revels in these descriptions. Although he has no scientific expertise, he is adamant that manmade global warming is a "con job" based on "subprime science." Due to his history of smears and lies, Morano's media influence is usually confined to Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. But in December, CNN invited him to "debate" Bill Nye on climate science, and in doing so elevated his marginal views to the mainstream press for the first time all year. For all this, Marc Morano has earned the distinction of Media Matters' second annual Climate Change Misinformer of the Year. For more information, please visit:

Obama Ignores Climate, EPA Head Leaves
"Lisa P. Jackson is stepping down as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency after a four-year tenure that began with high hopes of sweeping action to address climate change and other environmental ills but ended with a series of rear-guard actions to defend the agency against challenges from industry, Republicans in Congress and, at times, the Obama White House."* After being ignored and having her policies mostly tossed out in favor of conservative initiatives, Lisa Jackson is stepping down as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. How long will climate change be a low priority, and can anyone change that? Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more from John M. Broder/ New York Times: www.nytimes.com

Bought Climate Change Denier Heads Science Committee?!?
"Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), a skeptic of man-made global warming, is set to take over the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology in the 113th Congress. On Tuesday afternoon, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced that the Republican Steering Committee had recommended Smith as the new chairman. The full House GOP caucus will vote on all chairmanships Wednesday and is expected to ratify the steering panel's choices." We thought Ralph Hall would be the end of laughably inappropriate leaders chairing the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Wrong. Lamar Smith, a climate change denier is taking over. Do you think he's influenced by the money he received from Koch Industries and the oil and gas industries? *Read more from Amanda Terkel/ Huffington Post: www.huffingtonpost.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

Climate Change Data - CO2 Emmisions Worse Than Thought
"Global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2011 rose 2.5 percent to 34 billion metric tons (37.48 billion tons) , a new record, Germany's renewable energy institute said on Tuesday. The IWR, which advises German ministries, cited recovered industrial activity after the end of the global economic crisis of recent years. "If the current trend is sustained, worldwide CO2 emissions will go up by another 20 percent to over 40 billion metric tons by 2020," IWR director Norbert Allnoch said. China led the table of emitters in 2011 with 8.9 billion metric tons, up from 8.3 billion a year earlier. Its CO2 output was 50 percent more than the 6 billion metric tons in the United States."* Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola (Host, TYT University), and Mark Thompson discuss the recent data on global warming. No More Pasta!? Climate Change Endangers Wheat
"A world without pasta seems inconceivable. Mac-and-cheese-loving children across the United States would howl in protest. Italy might suffer a cultural heart attack. Social unrest could explode in northern China, where noodles are the main staple. But if humans want to keep eating pasta, we will have to take much more aggressive action against global warming. Pasta is made from wheat, and a large, growing body of scientific studies and real-world observations suggest that wheat will be hit especially hard as temperatures rise and storms and drought intensify in the years ahead."* Durum wheat, the high-protein wheat used to make pasta, may go extinct due to global warming. What will it take for people to realize that climate change is real and is a danger to us? Ana Kasparian and John Iadarola break it down. *Read more from Mark Hertsgaard/ The Daily Beast and Newsweek: www.thedailybeast.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

The End of the World? Climate Change and Disaster Progressivism (The Point)
December 21st, 2012 is rapidly approaching, which has us thinking about...the end of the world! What impact does population control have on the environment, and what effect do women's rights have on positive social change on population and the environment? How do progressives mitigate disasters, man made or natural? And lastly, with the predicted Mayan apocalypse less than two weeks away, what is general thought on this "event" in terms of climate change and the tendency toward apocalyptic thinking among the US populace? Ana Kasparian (Host, The Point and Co-host of The Young Turks) lead this weeks panel to discuss these issues and more with Desi Doyen (Co-host of the Green News Report radio show), Lee Camp (Comedian, Moment of Clarity Podcast) and Mark Thompson (Emmy-winning TV personality). Climate Change Studies: Less than 1% Reject Global Warming
"I was thinking of writing a lengthy post about climate change denial being completely unscientific nonsense, but then geochemist and National Science Board member James Lawrence Powell wrote a post that is basically a slam-dunk of debunking. His premise was simple: If global warming isn't real and there's an actual scientific debate about it, that should be reflected in the scientific journals. He looked up how many peer-reviewed scientific papers were published in professional journals about global warming, and compared the ones supporting the idea that we're heating up compared to those that don't. What did he find?"* Climate change deniers don't have any real scientific footing. A study of peer-reviewed climate articles published for a span longer than a decade revealed that fewer than 1% rejected the idea of global warming on a scientific basis. Then why are both sides given equal media coverage? Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, and Ben Mankiewicz break it down. *www.slate.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

Hurricane Sandy and Climate Change
74 people are dead and the stock market was closed for 2 days from a storm that is probably because of climate change meaning it could have been prevented. The economic recovery may actually slow down because of this storm and oil companies and Republicans don't want to do anything about it. Investing money in renewable energy can actually save our economy one day and the planet instead of buying oil from the Middle East but no, it would be too much hard work for the oil companies and Republicans.

"If not us, then who? If not now, then when?"
The lead negotiator for the Philippines at the Climate Conference in Doha, Naderev Saño, could not keep back the tears as he made a passionate appeal for real action on climate change. "I appeal to all, please, no more delays, no more excuses. Please, let Doha be remembered as the place where we found the political will to turn things around... The outcome of our work is not about what our political masters want. It is about what is demanded of us by 7 billion people... I ask of all of us here, if not us, then who? If not now, then when? If not here, then where?"

Lord Monckton Exposes Globalist Masquerading as Earth Savers at UN Climate Summit
Alex also talks with global warming skeptic Lord Christopher Monckton about his eviction from a United Nations climate change summit taking place in Qatar on Thursday. After the news conference, and as diplomats gathered for the climate conference president's assessment of how close countries are to agreement, Monckton quietly slipped into the seat reserved for the delegation of Myanmar and clicked the button to speak. A dvertisement "In the 16 years we have been coming to these conferences, there has been no global warming," Monckton said as confused murmurs filled the hall and then turned into a chorus of boos. The stunt infuriated negotiators and activists here who gather every year to address what they believe is one of the world's top threats, the steady rise of man-made global warming. As Monckton was escorted from the hall and security officers stripped him of his UN credentials, several people noted that just a few hours earlier a group of young activists had been thrown out of the convention center and deported. Their crime: unfurling an unauthorized banner calling for the Qatari hosts to lead the negotiations to a strong conclusion. By late today, several activists attending the conference had posted calls to "deport Monckton" on their Twitter feeds. www.infowars.com CHECK OUT [INFOWARS THE MAGAZINE] Buy it as a Gift or Order one for Yourself. www.infowarsshop.com ProPur Water Filtration Receive 15% off with promo code WATER15 - Good Until Dec 10th www ...

euronews I talk - Europe's climate boss answers I-talk's questions
www.euronews.com Everyone agrees that these days we have to do something about the climate, but what? Connie Hedegaard is the European Commissioner for Climate Action, which cannot be an easy job seeing that different countries on our continent seem to have very different ideas on how to go about things on such important issues such as nuclear energy, for example. *I-talk presenter Alex Taylor:* "Lets go for a first question for Mrs Hedegaard." *"Hello, my name is Cristina Piffer, I'm Italian and in the name of all Italians I'd like to ask you what are the EU's concrete measures to fight global warming and daily pollution. Thank you." * *Alex Taylor:* "I told you basic questions. Quick answer." *Connie Hedegaard:* "I think what Europe can do is to prove to the world that you can have growth but at the same time you can have less energy consumption. We have done that with our cars, we have done that with energy efficiency in our houses, in the way we live our lives. We are actually one of the most energy-efficient economies in the world. So I think that we are setting an example, but we should do even more to continue to set a good example." *Alex Taylor:* "Ok let's go into more details now with another question." *"Hello, my name is Mohamed Agar and I'm from Belgium. I just have a question on carbon dioxide quotas. In just the last few days both China and America have refused to apply them. Are you going to bow to their wills or force their airlines to pay CO2 quotas ...
