Battery Park City
Battery Park City is a 92-acre (0.37 km²) planned community at the southwestern tip of lower Manhattan in New York City, United States. The land upon which it stands was created by land reclamation on the Hudson River using 1.2 million cubic yards (917,000 m³) of soil and rocks excavated during the construction of the World Trade Center and certain other construction projects, as well as from sand dredged from New York Harbor off Staten Island. The neighborhood, which is the site of the World Financial Center along with numerous housing, commercial and retail buildings, is named for adjacent Battery Park.
Battery Park City is owned and managed by the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA), a public-benefit corporation created by New York State under the authority of the Urban Development Corporation. Excess revenue from the area was to be contributed to other housing efforts, typically low-income projects in the Bronx and Harlem.
Under the 1989 agreement between the BPCA and the City of New York, $600 million was transferred by the BPCA to the city. Charles J. Urstadt, the first Chairman and CEO of the BPCA, noted in an August 19, 2007 op-ed piece in the New York Post that the aggregate figure of funds transferred to the City of New York is above $1.4 billion, with the BPCA continuing to contribute $200 million a year.

Belo
Belo Corp. ( /ˈbiːloʊ/) NYSE: BLC is a Dallas-based media company that owns 20 commercial broadcasting television stations and two regional 24-hour cable news television channels. The company was previously known as A.H. Belo Corp. after one of the early owners of the company, Alfred Horatio Belo, now the name of the newspaper company spun off from Belo early in 2008. Belo has its headquarters in the Belo Building in Downtown Dallas, designed by Dallas architects Omniplan and constructed between 1983 and 1985.

The company traces its roots back to 1842 with the introduction of The Daily News in Galveston, Texas. Its flagship, The Dallas Morning News, has been publishing since 1885. The name A.H. On October 1, 2007, Belo announced the separation of its newspaper and television businesses by spinning off its newspaper business to shareholders as the A. H. Belo Corporation, officially completed in February 2008. The television business retains the Belo Corp. name (without the "A. Brooklyn

Brooklyn is the most populous of New York City's five boroughs, with approximately 2.5 million residents, and the second-largest in area. Since 1896, Brooklyn has had the same boundaries as Kings County, which is now the most populous county in New York State and the second-most densely populated county in the United States, after New York County (Manhattan). It is also the westernmost county on Long Island.
Brooklyn was an independent city until it was annexed by New York City in 1898. It continues to maintain a distinct culture. Many Brooklyn neighborhoods are ethnic enclaves where particular ethnic groups and cultures predominate.
Brooklyn's official motto is Eendraght Maeckt Maght. Written in the (early modern spelling of the) Dutch language, it is inspired by the motto of the United Dutch Provinces and translated "Unity makes strength". The motto is displayed on the borough seal and flag, which also feature a young robed woman bearing fasces, a traditional emblem of republicanism. Brooklyn's official colors are blue and gold.

Chelsea Market is an enclosed urban food court, shopping mall, office building and television production facility located in the Chelsea neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan, in New York City. Built in the former National Biscuit Company factory complex where the Oreo cookie was invented and produced, the 22-building complex fills two entire blocks bounded by Ninth and Eleventh Avenues and 15th and 16th Streets, with a connecting bridge over Tenth Avenue. In addition to the retail concourse in the structure east of 10th Avenue, it also provides standard office space for tenants, including media and broadcasting companies such as Oxygen Network, Food Network, Mr Youth, MLB.com, EMI Music Publishing and the local New York City cable station NY1. Also, more recently, Google has moved into some of the second and fourth floors.
Retail facilities were introduced into the building by connecting the original back lots of individual buildings to a central, ground-level concourse with entries at 9th and 10th Avenues (completed in April 1997). Anchor stores include the Chelsea Market Baskets, Manhattan Fruit Exchange, Anthropologie, and a restaurant called Buddakan. There is also the Fat Witch Bakery, Amy's Bread, Ruth's Bakery, Chelsea Wine Vault, Eleni's Bakery, The Lobster Place, Dickson's Farmstand, The Green Table, Chelsea Thai and Friedman's Lunch, as well as a variety of smaller stores selling cheese, artisanal salt and olive oil, chocolate and flowers.

CablePulse24 (CP24) is a Canadian English language Category A specialty news channel owned and operated by Bell Media. Based in Toronto, it focuses on local news from the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario, although it also covers national and international news. It is distributed through cable in Southern Ontario and direct broadcast satellite nationally.
The channel was licensed by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) in 1996 as Pulse 24, and launched on March 30, 1998 as CablePulse 24 (CP24) on March 30, 1998, under the ownership of CHUM Limited and minority partner Sun Media, owner of the Toronto Sun daily newspaper. The network was named as an extension of CITY-TV's newscasts, which were then known as CityPulse.
On December 1, 2004 CHUM Limited acquired the remaining interest in CP24 (giving it 100% of its shares), when the Sun's owners sold their 29.9% share in CP24 after acquiring its independent broadcast station Toronto 1 (now Sun News Network), the same day when CHUM Limited took control of Craig Media and its assets.

Florida

Much of Florida is situated on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. Florida has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, encompassing approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state to border both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and its terrain is characterized by sedimentary soils. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south. Its symbolic animals like the American alligator, Florida panther and the manatee, can be found in the Everglades, one of the most famous national parks in the world.

Gramercy Theatre

Gramercy Theatre is a music venue in Manhattan.
Built in 1937 and designed by architect Charles A. Sandblom in the Streamline Moderne style, the theatre is located at 127 E. 23rd St in the historic Gramercy neighborhood.
It was originally known as the Gramercy Park Theatre to avoid confusion with the already existing Gramercy Theatre, which had 521 seats and was situated at 310 First Avenue. After the old Gramercy Theatre succumbed to TV competition in the early 1950s, the newer theatre dropped "Park" from its name.
In the 1950s, the theatre was purchased by Cinema V, an art-film presentation and distribution company. The theatre was considered an "art house" due to eclectic programming, no admittance near the end of a film (unheard of back then), and coffee served in the waiting area.
Cinema V, grew from Rugoff and Becker theaters, a chain started in 1921 by Don Rugoff's father. Rugoff gained control of the company in 1957 and began a quick expansion in the burgeoning world of art-house exhibition. The Gramercy Theatre was part of this expansion.

Manhattan
Manhattan (/mænˈhætən/) is the most densely populated and the oldest of the five boroughs of New York City. Located primarily on the island of Manhattan at the mouth of the Hudson River, the boundaries of the borough are identical to those of New York County, an original county of the U.S. state of New York. The New York County is the most densely populated county in the United States, and one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with a 2010 population of 1,585,873 living in a land area of 22.96 square miles (59.5 km²), or 69,464 residents per square mile (26,924/km²), more dense than any individual American city. It is also one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, with a 2005 per capita income above $100,000. Manhattan is the third-largest of New York's five boroughs in population, and its smallest borough in land area.

New Jersey Network
The New Jersey Network, or NJN, was a network of public television and radio stations serving the U.S. state of New Jersey. NJN was a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) for television and the National Public Radio (NPR) for radio, broadcasting their programming as well as producing and broadcasting their own programming, mostly relating to issues in New Jersey. With studios in both Trenton and Newark, NJN's television network covered all of New Jersey, plus parts of Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and Delaware. The state radio network primarily serves several areas of New Jersey that were not covered by the Philadelphia and New York City public radio stations.
New Jersey Network ended operations on June 30, 2011. The television network was succeeded by NJTV, and the radio stations were split through two separate outright sales to different public broadcasting entities.
The system was founded in 1968 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature establishing the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority (NJPBA). New Jersey already had a public television station licensed within the state—WNET, licensed to Newark. However, for all practical purposes, WNET was a New York City station, effectively leaving New Jersey without a public station of its own. With state funding and four UHF licenses assigned years earlier by the Federal Communications Commission, the NJPBA went to work building the state's public television stations. The first station, WNJT in Trenton, went on the air April 5, 1971, with the other three stations signing on over the next two years. The system was known on-air as New Jersey Public Television (NJPTV) until 1981, when it adopted the New Jersey Network identity.

New York

NJTV

NJTV is a public television network serving the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is operated by WNET.org, the parent company of New York City's flagship public television stations, WNET and WLIW, through a subsidiary nonprofit organization, Public Media NJ. NJTV is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service, broadcasting their programming as well as producing and broadcasting their own programming, mostly relating to issues in New Jersey.
NJTV is the successor to New Jersey Network (NJN), the state-controlled public television and radio service. NJN ended operations on June 30, 2011, with Public Media NJ taking control of the former NJN television stations the following day. The first program to air on NJTV was a broadcast of The Charlie Rose Show, a WNET production, at midnight on July 1.
The seeds which led to the eventual formation of NJTV were planted in 2008, when NJN officials asked the New Jersey Legislature for permission to explore the possibility of making NJN a community licensee owned by the NJN Foundation, its fundraising arm. However, on June 6, 2011, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who vowed to end state-funded public broadcasting upon taking office in 2010, announced an agreement to turn control of the NJN television network to WNET. As part of the deal, WNET.org created Public Media NJ as a separate New Jersey-based nonprofit to operate the stations.

North Carolina

North Carolina has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet (2,037 m) at Mount Mitchell, the highest point in the Eastern US. The climate of the coastal plains is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the state falls in the humid subtropical climate zone. More than 300 miles (500 km) from the coast, the western, mountainous part of the state has a subtropical highland climate.

Queens is the easternmost of the five boroughs of New York City and the largest in area and the second-largest in population. September 11 attacks
The September 11 attacks (also referred to as September 11, September 11th or 9/11) were a series of four suicide attacks that were committed in the United States on September 11, 2001, coordinated to strike the areas of New York City and Washington, D.C. On that Tuesday morning, 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets. The hijackers intentionally piloted two of those planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City; both towers collapsed within two hours. The hijackers also intentionally crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and intended to pilot the fourth hijacked jet, United Airlines Flight 93, into a target in Washington, D.C.; however, the plane crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania after its passengers attempted to take control of the jet from the hijackers. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks including the 227 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes, none of whom survived.

Staten Island
Staten Island /ˌstætən ˈaɪlənd/ is a borough of New York City, United States, located in the southwest part of the city. Staten Island is separated from New Jersey by the Arthur Kill and the Kill Van Kull, and from the rest of New York by New York Bay. With a population of 468,730, Staten Island is the least populated of the five boroughs but is the third-largest in area at 59 sq mi (153 km²). The Borough of Staten Island is coextensive with Richmond County, the southernmost county in the state of New York. Until 1975, the borough was officially named the Borough of Richmond. Staten Island has been sometimes called "the forgotten borough" by inhabitants who feel neglected by the city government.
Staten Island is overall the most suburban of the five boroughs of New York City. The North Shore — especially the neighborhoods of St. George, Tompkinsville, Clifton, and Stapleton — is the most urban part of the island; it contains the officially designated St. George Historic District and the St. Paul’s Avenue-Stapleton Heights Historic District, which feature large Victorian homes. The South Shore has more suburban-style residential neighborhoods. The East Shore (South Beach) is home to the 2.5-mile F.D.R. Boardwalk, the fourth-longest in the world. Historically, the central and southern sections of the island were dominated by dairy and poultry farms, almost all of which disappeared in the 20th century. Staten Island used to claim the largest landfill in the world. It was closed in 2001, then shortly afterward temporarily reopened to accept the debris from the September 11th attacks. The landfill is being made into what will be New York City's largest public park.

Texas
Texas (ⁱ/ˈtɛksəs/) (Alibamu: Teksi ) is the second most populous and the second most extensive of the 50 United States, and the most extensive state of the 48 contiguous United States. The name, based on the Caddo word "Tejas" meaning "friends" or "allies", was applied by the Spanish to the Caddo themselves and to the region of their settlement in East Texas. Located in the South Central United States, Texas shares an international border with the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas to the south, and borders the US states of New Mexico to the west, Oklahoma to the north, Arkansas to the northeast, and Louisiana to the east. Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles (696,200 km²), and a growing population of 25.7 million residents.
During the Spanish colonial rule, the area was officially known as the Nuevo Reino de Filipinas: La Provincia de Texas. Antonio Margil de Jesús was known to be the first person to use the name in a letter to the Viceroy of Mexico in July 20, 1716. The name was not popularly used in daily speech but often appeared in legal documents until the end of the 1800s.

The Bronx
The Bronx is the northernmost of the five boroughs of New York City. It is also known as Bronx County, the last of the 62 counties of New York State to be incorporated. Located north of Manhattan and Queens, and south of Westchester County, the Bronx is the only borough that is located primarily on the mainland (a very small portion of Manhattan, the Marble Hill neighborhood, is physically located on the mainland, due to the rerouting of the Harlem River in 1897). The Bronx's population is 1,400,761 according to the 2010 United States Census. The borough has a land area of 42 square miles (109 km²), making it the fourth-largest in land area of the five boroughs, the fourth most populated, and the third-highest in density of population.
The Bronx is divided by the Bronx River into a hillier section in the west, closer to Manhattan, and the flatter East Bronx, closer to Long Island. The West Bronx was annexed to New York City (then largely confined to Manhattan) in 1874, and the areas east of the Bronx River in 1895. The Bronx first assumed a distinct legal identity when it became a borough of Greater New York in 1898. Bronx County, with the same boundaries as the borough, was separated from New York County (afterwards coextensive with the Borough of Manhattan) as of January 1, 1914. Although the Bronx is the third-most-densely-populated county in the U.S., about a quarter of its area is open space, including Woodlawn Cemetery, Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park, the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo in the borough's north and center, on land deliberately reserved in the late 19th century as urban development progressed northwards and eastwards from Manhattan with the building of roads, bridges and railways.

World Trade Center
The original World Trade Center was a complex with seven buildings featuring landmark twin towers in Lower Manhattan, New York City, United States. The complex opened on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed in 2001 in the September 11 attacks. The site is being rebuilt with five new skyscrapers and a memorial to the casualties of the attacks. As of November 2011^[update], only one skyscraper has been completed; the other four are expected to be completed before 2020. One World Trade Center will be the lead building for the new complex, reaching more than 100 stories at its completion. It became the tallest building in New York City on April 30, 2012, and is expected to be finished by 2013. A sixth tower is awaiting confirmation.
At the time of their completion, the original 1 World Trade Center (the North Tower) and 2 World Trade Center (the South Tower), known collectively as the Twin Towers, were the tallest buildings in the world. The other buildings included 3 WTC (the Marriott World Trade Center), 4 WTC, 5 WTC, 6 WTC (which housed United States Customs), and 7 WTC. All of these buildings were built between 1975 and 1985.

Andrew Kirtzman
Andrew Kirtzman (born c. 1962) was a political reporter and anchor for six years at WCBS-TV (CBS 2) in New York City until April 2008. He is the author of Betrayal: The Life and Lies of Bernie Madoff about Bernard Madoff's $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
Kirtzman was born and raised in Manhattan's Lower East Side. He graduated from Saint Ann's School in 1978. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he was the Executive Editor of The Daily Pennsylvanian, the student newspaper, and the Sphinx Senior Society and received his B.A. in journalism from New York University.
At WCBS-TV he hosted the Sunday morning political program Kirtzman & Co., which featured interviews with politicians and reporters. Prior to WCBS-TV, he worked for seven years at NY1 as a senior political reporter, where he also co-hosted Inside City Hall. He also worked for four years at the New York Daily News as a political reporter covering City Hall. He served as a contributing editor for New York Magazine and authored its biweekly Field Memo column during the city's 1997 mayoral race and the state's 1998 U.S. Senate race. He previously had been an investigative reporter for the Houston Post and the city editor of the Hudson Dispatch in New Jersey.

Asa Aarons
Asa Aarons (born October 20, 1956), co-creator of "Just Ask Asa!", is an Emmy award-winning consumer reporter and photojournalist. His reports focus on the problems, concerns and realities of everyday life, ranging from false advertising claims to credit card rip-offs and business swindles. Aarons has appeared on television stations in cities including New York City, Detroit and Pittsburgh. He appeared on WNBC in NYC from 1993 until the NBC 2.0 budget cuts in 2007.
He established the proprietary "Ask Asa" brand and developed the expression into a catchphrase for consumers seeking assistance. His work was simultaneously featured on television and the station's mobile Internet-based platform. Following WNBC, he was hired by local cable station NY1 News as its employment reporter.
In 1998, he began writing a newspaper column for the New York Daily News which appeared four times a week. He has made numerous guest appearances on The Today Show, nationally televised talk shows such as Maury Povich and Sally Jesse Raphael, and on programs on MSNBC and CNBC. The writers live in New York City where they publish books independently and together. Alice was the ghost writer for Hidden Passions, ISBN 0-06-107605-8, a novel based on the off-beat, then-NBC soap opera Passions. Rangel. In 2006 Carter made national news as the moderator of a series of state-wide debates in New York State, which included Senator Hillary Clinton. Douglas Steven "Doug" Benson (born July 2, 1962) is an American stand-up comedian and actor who has appeared on Comedy Central Presents, Best Week Ever and was a contestant on Last Comic Standing in the show's fifth season.

Benson claimed that "I went in anyway and did my three minutes of whatever I could come with and people actually laughed." At the age of 22, Benson began performing regularly as a stand-up comedian. He made his earliest television appearances as a stand-up in the late 1980s and early 1990s on programs such as Comedy Central's The A-List and Two Drink Minimum and was one of the featured comedians in the cast of Joel Hodgson's sketch-comedy pilot The TV Wheel which aired on Comedy Central in 1995. One of Benson's earliest jobs in television was writing for the MTV game-show Trashed in 1994.

Baghdad Bob, was shown at one of his press conferences saying that Coalition forces were not in Baghdad, Fox News was showing, in split screen, reporter Kelly riding a tank through the city. Two days later, Kelly captured another exclusive during the storming of Saddam Hussein's presidential palace.

Gaffigan is also known for routines or skits relating to being lazy and eating food, especially popular routines regarding Hot Pockets, cake, and bacon. In 2004 Gaffigan's stand up material was featured in Comedy Central's animated series Shorties Watchin' Shorties. His 2006 album, Beyond the Pale, consisted primarily of material regarding food and American eating habits. The album was accompanied by an hour-long special on Comedy Central of the same name, which was released on his DVD. His 2009 album, King Baby, was also a television special filmed in Austin, Texas at the end of his "The Sexy Tour". Comedy Central released King Baby on DVD. In a March 2009 interview on Anytime with Bob Kushell, Gaffigan defended his naming of the tour, stating that he thought it would be funny that parents would be unsure about whether to bring their teenage children to the show.

Patrick "Pat" Kiernan (born November 20, 1968) is a Canadian-born television host, appearing as the morning news anchor of NY1 since 1997. He is widely known in New York City for his "In the Papers" feature, in which he summarizes the colorful content in New York City's daily newspapers, replete with his deadpan humor. Kiernan has also hosted game shows and appeared in films and on television either as himself or as a reporter.
Kiernan began his news career in 1988 at CKRA-FM in Edmonton while a business student at the University of Alberta. He later made a transition from radio to television at Edmonton's CFRN News. In 1993, he moved to another Edmonton television station, CITV, where he produced the weekday primetime newscast. Kiernan is usually on air from 5 AM until 10 AM, weekdays, sometimes being replaced by Kristen Shaughnessy. He was on air on the morning of the September 11th terrorist attacks, and remained on air for nearly 15 hours that day. In addition to his morning anchor position, Kiernan also serves as a correspondent for Business News Network in Canada.

There was also a failed attempt at a variety show co-starring with Thicke. Sparkles also appeared on the Canadian educational children's show Space Teens with Thicke where two teen girls traveling through space in a curling stone–shaped spaceship "solve mysteries using math" featuring the song “Two Beavers Are Better Than One” further parodying Canadians (It was also implied that the aforementioned show had some 'sexual' hints, in particular a multiplication segment that challenged the girls to multiply 23 X 3 by using a "Joystick," but Robin says it was just a children's program).

NY1, New York One, is a 24-hour cable-news television channel focusing on the five boroughs of New York City. In addition to news and weather forecasts, the channel also features human-interest segments such as the "New Yorker of the Week" and the "Scholar Athlete of the Week", and specialty programs such as Inside City Hall (which is renamed Road to City Hall during New York City mayoral elections).

NY1 is owned and operated by Time Warner Cable (TWC).

On the TWC-New York City service, NY1 appears on channel 1, formerly in standard definition (with a 4:3 aspect ratio), and is now shown on both channel 1 and channel 701 in high definition (with a 16:9 aspect ratio). The channel appears on channel 8 on Cablevision's New York City service (in mid December 2010 it was moved to Channel 8 with Channel 1 stricken from the Cablevision program guide) in letterboxed standard definition (using the HD feed). It is available to over two million cable-television customers within the five boroughs of New York City; nearby Bergen County, New Jersey; Mount Vernon in Westchester County, New York. Outside of the New York City metro area, NY1 is seen on Time Warner Cable systems throughout New York State, and to HDTV subscribers on Bright House Networks systems in the Orlando and Tampa Bay areas.^[1] Verizon FiOS does not carry the station.^[2]

NY1 was conceived by Richard Aurelio, the president of Time Warner Cable's New York City cable group. The station launched September 8, 1992, from its newsroom in the National Video Center at 460 West 42nd Street in the Manhattan borough of New York City under the guidance of Paul Sagan, NY1's vice president of news, and Steve Paulus, NY1's news director. Construction of the 42nd Street facility was completed on July 15, but the channel's newly hired reporters actually began work a month earlier by attending a videojournalism "boot camp".^[3] While some of the reporters had used their own cameras in other markets, most had had no exposure to the technical side of journalism. Following their training, the reporters and the rest of the staff took part in an additional two-month training period that included four weeks of real-time rehearsal. A watershed event came in the final weeks of training, with the collapse of a former post-office building on Manhattan's West Side. Although the channel was not yet on the air, NY1 reporters covered the story as if the channel was fully operational, interviewing survivors and witnesses and reporting the story more fully^{[citation needed]} than competing television outlets.^[4]

Following the September 11, 2001, attacks of the World Trade Center in New York City, NY1's signal was temporarily broadcast internationally to all subscribers of the Oxygen cable-television channel after Oxygen could not broadcast from its studios in the Battery Park City Manhattan neighborhood near the World Trade Center.^[5]

In 2001, TWC began offering NY1 to digital-cable subscribers in the Albany, New York, market,^{[clarification needed]} with other markets following soon thereafter.

In January 2002, the station moved to a new, all-digital facility on the sixth foor at Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Avenue (between West 15th-16th Streets) in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

On June 30, 2003, NY1 Noticias, a Spanish-language version of the channel, began operating for digital-cable subscribers.

In late 2005, NY1 launched a video-on-demand service for its TWC customers. NY1 on Demand is on Channel 1110 in the TWC-New York City system.

In 2008, NY1 launched a high-definition channel on Channel 701, although it was aired only in a pillarbox format (i.e., 4:3 aspect ratio picture with side pillars of NY1 logo) until migrating to a full 16:9 aspect ratio in October 2009.^{[citation needed]}

NY1 was the first TWC local-news channel, and TWC has since added twenty-four-hour local news networks in several other markets modeled after NY1, including:

The most-common "program" on NY1 is a half-hour block beginning at the top and middle of every hour. The first minute contains top headlines followed by "Weather On The 1s", a brief one-minute weather summary. The remainder of the half-hour is filled with pre-recorded news segments heavily focusing on stories from the New York metropolitan area. Nearly all stories are pre-recorded, even segments made to look like they are happening live; instead of a "live" indicator while reporters speak, most NY1 stories have a graphic saying merely that the reporter is (or, rather, was) "on scene". This is because when the report first aired, it may have been live but is usually not once re-aired, unless it updates breaking news. Moreover, reporters generally shoot their own stories with video-camera, and take them back to the newsroom to be edited into the broadcast rotation.^{[clarification needed]}

Sports reports are featured throughout the day, while a one-hour call-in sports show, Sports on 1: The Last Word, is featured every night at 11:35 p.m.

In an effort to compete with local late-night newscasts, on January 22, 2007, NY1 introduced its own 11 p.m. newscast, News At 11.^{[clarification needed]} The newscast is anchored by Lewis Dodley and former CBS news correspondent Elizabeth Kaledin, an original member of the NY1 News team.

Launched in July 2005, The Call is a live, one hour call-in and write-in news show hosted by John Schiumo. Throughout the day, viewers are encouraged to vote on the top news stories of the day, and after receiving an e-mail alert as to the top story, asked to write or call in to discuss the topic with Schiumo. The program was expanded to one hour in January 2012 in response to viewer requests. Previously, the show was extended on days of major news events.

Very often at the beginning of the show, Schiumo will have a short interaction with Danielle Rondinone, the program's senior producer, during which they will both offer their opinions of the days news.

On Stage is a half-hour program reporting on theater. Its focus is primarily on the New York City theater scene but the show also reports on performances in the wider region. It is hosted by Donna Karger, with Patrick Pacheco conducting interviews. NY1 anchor Roma Torre, who has a background in theater, is the critic for the show. Outside critics David Cote of Time Out New York and David Sheward of Back Stage also contribute reviews. Frank DiLella conducts on-scene reporting.

Jennifer Mascia (born 1977 in Miami, USA) is the author of "Never Tell Our Business to Strangers" and a news assistant on the Metropolitan Desk of The New York Times.

Mascia is a graduate of City University of New York's Hunter College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. ^[1]

In February 2010 Mascia published "Never Tell Our Business to Strangers," a memoir about her parents that centers around the discovery of her father's murder conviction.^[2]

The memoir is an expansion of a Modern Love column published in The New York Times in April 2007.^[3]

Early life and career [link]

Dancy was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, the son of British philosopher Jonathan Dancy, a professor at the University of Reading and at the University of Texas at Austin. His mother, Sarah, is a publisher. His brother, Jack, is a co-director of the travel company, Trufflepig Travel,^[1] and his sister, Kate Redman^[2], works for Save the Children. Dancy was educated at Dragon School in Oxford and Winchester College, then went on to study at St Peter's College, Oxford. At the age of 18, he acted in the Winchester College Players production of Twelfth Night which was performed in both Winchester and at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall.

In 1999, Dancy played the role of Danny, who had a fleeting romance with Rachel, one of the shows main characters, in the second series of Cold Feet.

In 2007, Dancy had a starring role on Broadway as Captain Dennis Stanhope in Journey's End (Belasco Theatre). He also played Aiden in the 2007 film Blood and Chocolate. He portrayed the character of Adam,^[3] a man with Asperger syndrome, spending time during pre-production with Aspergers groups and clinical specialists for the 2009 independent film Adam. Dancy also appeared in the film adaptation of the novel Savage Grace by Natalie Robins and Steven M.L. Aronson.

Hugh Dancy appeared in MCC Theater's The Pride, written by Alexi Kaye Campbell, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York City. The off-Broadway production was directed by Joe Mantello and co-starred Ben Whishaw and Andrea Riseborough. In 2009 Dancy appeared in Confessions of a Shopaholic. In 2010-11, Dancy co-starred alongside Nina Arianda in Venus in Fur on Broadway to great critical acclaim.^[4]

In March 2012, NBC announced that Dancy had been cast as Will Graham in Hannibal, an upcoming television adaptation of Thomas Harris' 1981 novel Red Dragon. ^[5]

BuddyTV ranked him No.83 on its list of "TV's Sexiest Men of 2011".^[6]

Dancy met actress Claire Danes on the set of Evening and they began dating after filming concluded. In February 2009, they announced their engagement. It was reported that the couple were secretly married in France in early September 2009.^[7]^[8]

Benjamin John "Ben" Whishaw^[1] (born 14 October 1980) is an English actor who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Whishaw is known for his breakthrough stage role as Hamlet, his roles in the television series Criminal Justice and The Hour and film roles including Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, I'm Not There and Brideshead Revisited. It has been announced that he will play the role of Q in the James Bond film Skyfall.

Early life [link]

Whishaw was born and brought up in Clifton, Bedfordshire, the son of Linda (née Hope), who works in cosmetics, and Jose Whishaw, who works in information technology.^[2] He has a twin brother, James, and was a member of the Bancroft Players Youth Theatre at Hitchin's Queen Mother Theatre. He attended Henlow Middle School and then Samuel Whitbread Community College in Clifton, Bedfordshire. During his time with the group, he first rose to prominence during collaborations with their offshoot theatre company, Big Spirit. He was involved in many productions – perhaps most notably, If This Is A Man (also performed as The Drowned & The Saved). This was a piece devised by the company based on the book of the same name by Primo Levi, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. This harrowing and moving book was adapted into a physical theatre piece by the group and taken to the 1995 Edinburgh Festival where it garnered five-star reviews and great critical acclaim. Whishaw played the character of Levi in this and subsequent productions of the show.

Career [link]

As the lead in Trevor Nunn's 2004 young-cast production of Hamlet at the Old Vic, he received highly favourable reviews. The role was shared with Al Weaver in an unusual arrangement that saw Whishaw playing all nights except for Mondays and matinées. Whishaw was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Actor and the Ian Charleson Award. Nunn is reported to have made this arrangement due to the youth of the two actors playing the lead, to relieve some of the pressure on each. It was Whishaw, however, who featured most prominently in the marketing materials and in the majority of reviews.

Whishaw's film and TV credits include Layer Cake and Chris Morris's 2005 sitcom Nathan Barley, in which he played a character called Pingu. He was named 'Most Promising Newcomer' at the 2001 British Independent Film Awards (for My Brother Tom) and, in 2005, nominated as best actor in four award ceremonies for his Hamlet. He also played Keith Richards in the Brian Jones biopic Stoned. In the spring of 2005, Whishaw received lots of press for his turn as a drug dealer, acting alongside Robert Boulter and Fraser Ayres in Philip Ridley's highly controversial stage play Mercury Fur.

In Perfume, Whishaw plays Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, a perfume maker whose craft turns deadly. The film was released in Germany in September 2006 and in the U.S. in December 2006. In the same year Whishaw worked on Pawel Pawlikowski's abandoned The Restraint of Beasts.^[3]

Whishaw appeared in I'm Not There in 2007 as one of the Bob Dylan reincarnations; in Criminal Justice, a Tiger Aspect series for the BBC, in 2008; a new adaptation of Brideshead Revisited; and ...some trace of her, an adaptation of The Idiot at the National Theatre.^[4]

At the end of 2009 he starred in Cock, a new play by Mike Bartlett at the Royal Court Theatre.^[5] In 2009 he also starred as the poet John Keats in the film Bright Star, which was written and directed by Jane Campion.

In February, 2010 Whishaw made a very successful off-broadway debut at MCC Theater in the US premiere of the awarding winning play The Pride by Alexi Kaye Campbell. The performance co-starred Hugh Dancy and Andrea Riseborough and was directed by Joe Mantello.

He played Ariel in Julie Taymor's recent film adaptation of The Tempest and is attached to work on the film Kill Your Darlings^[6] (in which he plays Lucien Carr)

Ben Whishaw's most recent project is The Hour a BBC Two drama series, written and created by award-winning screenwriter Abi Morgan.^[7]

Whishaw will appear in the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall, in the role of Q ^[8]. He will be portraying a younger 'Q' than in previous films. Peter Burton and Desmond Llewelyn both received the role when they were in their forties, while Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese played the role into their eighties and sixties, respectively. Coincidentally, the script for Whishaw's previous project, The Hour, has his character jokingly referring to a female colleague as Moneypenny on several occasions.

Whishaw guards his personal life, saying, "as an actor you have total rights to privacy and mystery, whatever your sexuality, whatever you do. I don't see why that has to be something you discuss openly because you do something in the public eye. I have no understanding of why we turn actors into celebrities."^[9]

Early life [link]

Riseborough grew up in Whitley Bay. In reference to The Long Walk To Finchley, she has described her parents as "working class Thatcherites".^[1]

At an early age, she appeared at the People's Theatre, Newcastle upon Tyne, where she appeared in the play Riding England Sidesaddle by Christopher Goulding, playing Celia Fiennes. Riseborough spent her schooldays at the independent school, Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School on Tankerville Terrace in Jesmond. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2005.

Her sister Laura studies acting at the East 15 Acting School.

She appeared in the 2010 films Made in Dagenham and Mark Romanek's adaptation of Never Let Me Go. She starred in the US premiere of Alexi Kaye Campbell's award-winning The Pride at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in January 2010.^[2] The production was directed by Joe Mantello and co-starred Hugh Dancy and Ben Whishaw.

She appears in Rowan Joffe's new film adaptation of Brighton Rock alongside Helen Mirren and John Hurt. She worked with The Devil's Whore author Peter Flannery in his screenplay based on the life of James Miranda Barry with Michael Fassbender.^[3]

Riseborough played the role of Wallis Simpson in W.E., a film directed by Madonna. She will star alongside Michael Sheen and Iwan Rheon in Resistance, an adaptation of an Owen Sheers novel. The film is due for UK release on 25 November 2011.^[4]

She writes with her creative partner, the actor Tom Burke, and with Mike Leigh. Riseborough will star on the side of Alexander Skarsgård in the upcoming Thriller film Hidden^[5], the Low-budget film is directed by Matt and Ross Duffer. ^[6]

In 2009 she was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for playing the title character in Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Finchley. She won the Royal Television Society Award and The Broadcasting Press Guild for her role in The Devil's Whore. In 2007 she won the Ian Charleson Award for her performances as Isabella in Measure For Measure and as the title character in Miss Julie both directed by Sir Peter Hall. She was nominated as London Newcomer of the year at the 2005 Theatre Goers Choice Awards for A Brief History of Helen of Troy at the Soho Theatre. In 2007 she was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in The Pride. Riseborough was a recipient of the Shooting Stars Award from the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival. For her performance in W.E she was honored with the Hollywood Film Festival Spotlight award. ^[7]
