Sexual Assault Reports Spike At Military Academies
"Reported sexual assaults at the nation's three military academies jumped by 23 percent overall this year, but the data signaled a continued reluctance by victims to seek criminal investigations."* More and more people are reporting sexual abuse in military academies. Is it becoming more prevalent, or are more people breaking an unspoken rule to keep quiet? Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, and Ben Mankiewicz (Host, Turner Classic Movies) break it down. *Read more from Lolita C Baldor/ AP via Huffington Post: www.huffingtonpost.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Support The Young Turks by Shopping bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

Pakistan Military Academy - PMA Kakul - Part 1
Documentary: The Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) was established at Kakul in October 1947 soon after the creation of Pakistan. On 25th January 1948, "The First Pakistan Battalion" was instituted. Its companies were named after the luminaries of Muslim military history ie, Khalid, Tariq, Qasim and Salahuddin. Two months later in March 1948, the Battalion was bestowed with Quaid-e-Azam's patronage as Colonel-in-Chief and the most coveted claim "The Quaid-e-Azam's Own' While the Quaid's failing health prevented him from visiting PMA, Khawaja Nazim-ud-din, the then, Governor General inaugurated it on behalf of the Quaid-e-Azam and presented the Quaid-e-Azam banner. Ever since, at every passing out parade, it is held aloft with splendid honour by champion company. Regimental colours presented in 1950 by Liaqat Ali Khan, the first Prime Minister of Pakistan and the National Standard in 1961 by General Muhammad Musa, the then, Commander-in-Chief of Pakistan Army, have been some of the honours showered on the Academy, which it has always jealously guarded and kept high in letter and spirit. The Indo-Pak War of 1965 necessitated Academy's expansion and Second Pakistan Battalion was raised in December 1965. Its four companies were named after some renowned Muslim military leaders from the subcontinent ie Ghaznavi, Babur, Aurangzeb and Tipu. In early 1989, Third Pakistan Battalion was added to its fold. Its constituent companies were named after some very inspiring military generals ...

Azadi Parade At Pakistan Military Academy Kakul - Part 1
To mark the 61st Independence Day in a befitting manner, a spectacular Army parade was held at the elegantly lit drill square of Pakistan Military Academy at midnight on 13-14 August. The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, was the chief guest on this occasion. He unfurled the national flag on the dawn of 61st Independence Day. In his address, The Chief of Army Staff said that Independence Day reminds us that Azadi is a precious gift that we must honour and preserve. This we not only owe to our future generations but to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah himself. He said it is a moment to uphold Quaids principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline. Azadi is not a short-lived feeling. It is indeed a strategy of existence for all times to come; an essence to our national security, he said. COAS said that the new tradition of Azadi Parade today carried both a sense of history and a vision for future. He said that this occasion reminds us of the indomitable will of the Muslims of Sub-continent to establish a homeland. I have full faith that the dream of Pakistan and its vision is as valid for today and tomorrow, as it was in 1947, he added. COAS reiterated the resolve that Pakistan Army will always rise to call of the nation and will make Pakistan proud amongst the comity of nation. He said I have no doubt, that as a nation, we have the capability and capacity to surmount all the challenges confronting us today. General Kayani said that Pakistan desires to coexist in ...
