GAME 42: at Orlando, Feb. 9, 1992
MVP: Earvin Johnson
His return to the court, if only for one game, was the talk of the basketball world. And, by the time the final buzzer had sounded, Magic Johnson ended up disappointing no one with his performance in the 1992 NBA All-Star Game at Orlando Arena.
Playing in his first game of the 1991-92 season since announcing his retirement from the NBA on November 7, Johnson, looking like the vintage player who had made such an impact on professional basketball in the 1980s, recorded game highs of 25 points and 9 assists to win his second All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award. His performance led the West to a convincing 153-113 win over the East in front of 14,272 fans and a worldwide TV audience.
While Johnson was the leader of the West team, he got tremendous support from some of his teammates. Guard Clyde Drexler put up MVP-type numbers, with 22 points and 9 rebounds; center David Robinson scored 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds; and guard Tim Hardaway, who allowed Johnson to replace him in the starting lineup, contributed 14 points and 7 assists.

NBA All-Star Weekend 2012 Highlights
Here is a highlight reel I made of all the best plays from NBA All-Star Weekend 2012.
It includes highlights from every official NBA All-Star Weekend event: the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, Haier Shooting Stars, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot Locker 3 Point Contest, Sprite Slam Dunk contest, and the 2012 NBA All-Star game.
Some of the best highlight from the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge I've included are:
Blake Griffin's alley oop dunk off the backboard from himself, John Wall's crazy block on Norris Cole, Wall's one-handed alley oop dunk from Marshon Brooks, and his crazy behind-the-back dunk at the end of the game.
There are also plenty of other fast break dunks and alley oops by Markieff Morris, Paul George, Blake Griffin, DeMarcus Cousins, and Derrick Williams. There are a handful of crafty fakes and moves by Ricky Rubio, several three pointers by the game's MVP, Kyrie Irving, plus extra footage of Jeremy Lin and Blake Griffin fooling around on the bench.
From All-Star Saturday night, I've included the Haier Shooting Stars performance of the winning team - Team New York, which comprised New York Knick Landry Fields, former Knick legend Allan Houston, and Cappie Pondexter of the WNBA's New York Liberty.
From the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, I've included a few highlights of winner Tony Parker.
From the Foot Locker Three Point Contest, I included performances of both Kevin Durant and Kevin Love. The two needed a tie-breaking round to decide this year's three point champion, and Love came out on top.
Also from All-Star Saturday night, I included every dunk from the Sprite Slam Dunk contest. Here is a list of the players and their dunks.
Chase Budinger:
1) White Men Can't Jump dunk over P. Diddy
2) regular windmill
3) blindfolded reverse tribute to Cedric Ceballos dunk
Derrick Williams:
1) windmill dunk over motorcycle
2) 360 alley oop dunk off the side of the backboard from Ricky Rubio
3) regular alley oop dunk off the backboard from himself
Paul George:
1) dunk over Roy Hibbert and Dahntay Jones
2) backlight 360 windmill dunk
3) backboard Larry Bird sticker dunk
Jeremy Evans (winner):
1) regular reverse alley oop dunk with camera headset
2) two ball alley oop dunk over Gordon Hayward
3) tribute to Karl Malone dunk over Kevin Hart
The highlights from the All-Star game are full of impressive passes, ferocious dunks, and emphatic alley oops. Some of the best plays from this portion of the video are:
sick windmill dunks by LeBron James and Andre Iguodala, Kevin Durant's alley oop dunk off the backboard from Chris Paul, Paul's drop off in between the legs pass followed by a crazy dunk by Blake Griffin, and LeBron's reverse dunk from Rajon Rondo.
Other players displayed are Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, and Kobe Bryant, who passed by Michael Jordan as the all-time leading scorer in NBA All-Star history.
The songs I used for this video are:
Levels by Avicii
Rocketeer by Far East Movement featuring Ryan Tedder
Over by Drake

ALL Dunks from NBA All Star 2013 Game HD
The 2013 NBA All-Star Game was an exhibition basketball game that was played on February 17, 2013 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, the current home of the Houston Rockets. This game was the 62nd edition of the National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Game and was played during the 2012--13 NBA season. The Houston Rockets were awarded the All-Star Game in an announcement by commissioner David Stern on February 8, 2012. This was the third time that Houston had hosted the All-Star Game; the city had previously hosted the event in 1989 at the Astrodome and 2006 at the Toyota Center.[2] The West won the game 143--138, and Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers was named the game's most valuable player (MVP).
Starters for the game were selected by the fans, who could select three frontcourt players and two guards from each conference. Previously, fans selected two forwards and one center instead of generic frontcourt players.[3] Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers received the most overall votes at 1,591,437.
Starting on this year, NBA All-Star Saturday Night will become contests between Eastern and Western Conferences.
The coaches for the All-Star game were the head coaches who led the teams with the best winning percentages in their conference through the games of February 3, 2013.[4] Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs clinched the West position after a win on January 30. Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat clinched the East position after a win over the Toronto Raptors on February 3, 2013.[5] The head coaches from the previous year, Tom Thibodeau and Scott Brooks, were not eligible for selection.
Players
The rosters for the All-Star Game were chosen in two ways. The starters were chosen via a fan ballot. Two guards and three frontcourt players who received the highest vote were named the All-Star starters. NBA head coaches voted for the reserves for their respective conferences, none of which could be players on their own team. Each coach selected two guards, three frontcourt players and two wild cards, with each selected player ranked in order of preference within each category. If a multi-position player was to be selected, coaches were encouraged to vote for the player at the position that was "most advantageous for the All-Star team," regardless of where the player was listed on the All-Star ballot or the position he was listed in box scores.[6] If a player is unable to participate due to injury, the commissioner will select a replacement.
Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers topped the ballots with 1,591,437 votes, which earned him a starting position as a guard in the Western Conference team. Bryant earned a record 15th consecutive All-Star selection. Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, and Dwight Howard completed the Western Conference starting position.[4] The lone first-time All-Star in the Western Conference is the Houston Rockets' James Harden.[7] All of the players from the West started in last year's All-Star Game, save for Howard who started for the East, and similar to last year, both Los Angeles teams, the Lakers and the Clippers, are represented by two players each, all of whom are starters. Also sending a pair of players to the All-Star Game will be the Oklahoma City Thunder, represented by Durant and Russell Westbrook, and the San Antonio Spurs, represented by Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. The Golden State Warriors will have an All-Star representative for the first time since Latrell Sprewell was selected in 1997, with David Lee.
The Eastern Conference's leading vote-getter was LeBron James, who finished with 1,583,646 votes. Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Garnett completed the Eastern Conference starting positions.[4] Anthony, James and Wade were starters for the previous year's Eastern Conference team. The Eastern Conference reserves include six first-time selections: Tyson Chandler, Paul George, Jrue Holiday, Kyrie Irving, Brook Lopez, and Joakim Noah.[7] The Boston Celtics sent two players to start in the All-Star Game for the first time since 1984, when Larry Bird and Robert Parish started for the East. The New York Knicks will send two players to the All-Star Game for the first time since 2001.
The West led at the end of each quarter and won 143--138 behind Chris Paul, who won MVP honors with 20 points and 15 assists. The West never led by more than eight points through the first three quarters, but they pushed the lead to double figures early in the fourth. Kobe Bryant blocked two shots by LeBron James late in the game, part of a late run to secure the game for the West. Kevin Durant led all scorers with 30 points, while Bryant has nine points and eight assists. Carmelo Anthony led the East with 26 points and 12 rebounds. James, who shot well during the latter part of the season's first half, shot only 7-for-18 while scoring 19 points.
