Australia (
/əˈstreɪljə/), officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent as well as the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the north-east; and New Zealand to the south-east.
For at least 40,000 years before European settlement in the late 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians, who belonged to one or more of roughly 250 language groups. After discovery by Dutch explorers in 1606, Australia's eastern half was claimed by Great Britain in 1770 and settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. The population grew steadily in subsequent decades; the continent was explored and an additional five self-governing Crown Colonies were established.

Detroit ( /diˈtrɔɪt/) is the largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan, and the seat of Wayne County. New Zealand
New Zealand (Māori: Aotearoa) is an island country located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Vancouver (/vænˈkuːvər/) is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. By 1887, the transcontinental railway was extended to the city to take advantage of its large natural seaport, which soon became a vital link in a trade route between the Orient, Eastern Canada, and London. As of 2009, Port Metro Vancouver is the busiest and largest port in Canada, and the most diversified port in North America. While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Black Stone Cherry
Black Stone Cherry is an American rock band that formed in 2001 in Edmonton, Kentucky. They are signed to Roadrunner Records. The band consists of Chris Robertson (lead vocals, lead guitar), Ben Wells (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Jon Lawhon (bass guitar, backing vocals), and John Fred Young (drums, backing vocals). Black Stone Cherry has released three studio albums and three EPs, and has charted eight singles on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks charts.
The band Black Stone Cherry originated from Edmonton, Kentucky. Chris Robertson and John Fred Young, son of The Kentucky Headhunters's rhythm guitarist Richard Young, started to play music together early in their teens and Wells and Lawhon soon followed. Black Stone Cherry officially formed on June 4, 2001. They then took over the practice house that had been used by The Kentucky Headhunters since 1968 and began to record tracks. They also began holding shows at clubs in the area, and after a short while they gained a large following of people of all ages in the town.

Canadians
Canadians (singular Canadian) are the people who are identified with the country of Canada. This connection may be genetic, residential, legal, historical, cultural or ethnic. Canada has also been strongly influenced by that of its linguistic, geographic and economic neighbour, the United States.

Chad Kroeger
Chad Robert Kroeger (born Chad Robert Turton on (1974-11-15)November 15, 1974) is a Canadian songwriter, singer, and guitarist best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Canadian rock band Nickelback. In addition to his work with Nickelback, Kroeger has been involved with a variety of collaborations, appearing as a guest musician in several songs and has contributed in both production and songwriting. He has co-written several songs for other artists and for films.
Kroeger was born in Hanna, Alberta on 15 November 1974 under the name Chad Robert Turton. He learned to play the guitar at age 13, and in the early 1990s was part of a cover band, which also included future Nickelback members Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake, before it broke up. Soon after the band dissolved, he, Mike Kroeger and Ryan Peake became part of Nickelback, which was formed at that time.
In 2002, Kroeger co-founded 604 Records, and has also produced music for other bands, such as Default, Theory of a Deadman, and Bo Bice.

Chris Martin
Christopher Anthony John "Chris" Martin (2 March 1977) is an English singer-songwriter, who is the lead vocalist, pianist and rhythm guitarist of the band Coldplay. He is well known by fans for his distinctive tenor voice. He is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
Chris Martin was born in Exeter, Devon and is the eldest of five children. His father, Anthony Martin, is a retired accountant, and his mother, Alison Martin, is a music teacher. Martin started his education at the pre-preparatory Hylton School and then went on to preparatory Exeter Cathedral School. It was at the prep school that Martin formed his first band, The Rocking Honkies, with Nick Repton & Iwan Gronow. Their debut performance was met with boos from the crowd. After Exeter Cathedral, Martin boarded at Sherborne School, a boys' independent school in Dorset. He also met future Coldplay manager Phil Harvey at the school. Martin continued his studies at University College London, staying at Ramsay Hall where he read Ancient World Studies and graduated with First Class honours in Greek and Latin. It is here he met future Coldplay bandmates Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Guy Berryman.

Daniel Adair
Daniel Patrick Adair (born February 19, 1975 Vancouver) is a Canadian drummer. He is best known for his work with Nickelback and his previous work with 3 Doors Down. He also works with the Canadian band Suspect and the instrumental fusion band Martone.
Daniel often uses the quote "The harder you work, the luckier you get." coined by Gary Player, to describe his career.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Daniel Adair began playing drums at the age of 13. His father was also a drummer and had a set of 1967 Ludwigs in storage, which Daniel decided to set up one day. Later that day after watching some drummers in music videos and listening to Hemispheres by Rush, he heard music differently for the first time and decided that he had to learn how to drum like that. He soon became obsessed with drums, air drumming in his room all night and playing along to albums all day. He continued to self teach himself until the age of 22 influenced by Neil Peart, John Bonham, Tim 'Herb' Alexander, Lars Ulrich, and Vinnie Paul Abbott, among many others. Contrary to popular belief he was not self taught, included in the thank you's on the first album are the Hodgsons, who are Norm Hodgson from Brisbane, Australia who actually taught him to play the drums. Through his late teenage years he regrettably did not play much but was soon hired by a music store in Vancouver. Not long after this he started to put his heart and soul into his renewed passion for drumming. Soon his musical taste began to change and was newly influenced by Jazz drummers such as Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati. He also began playing with many local original bands and cover bands, basically playing with anyone, anytime and anyplace. At this time he also began to play the bass guitar and learn new drumming styles and techniques from different teachers, most notably John Fisher, becoming very disciplined with his practice routine.

Daniel Powter
Daniel Richard Powter (born February 25, 1971) is a Canadian recording artist. He is known for his hit "Bad Day" (2006), which spent five weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. Powter was the only act to register a #1 hit in that year without previously having had another song chart in the Hot 100.
Powter grew up in Vernon, in the Okanagan-Shuswap region of British Columbia. As a child, Powter played the violin. He changed to piano after a group of children bullied him and destroyed his violin. A dyslexic, Powter had trouble in university studying music, and later dropped out in order to pursue his own musical career, learning all songs by ear and recording new melodies that he created. Daniel Powter released his debut album, I'm Your Betty, in 2000. The album, limited to a very small print, contains ten songs, two of which—"More Than I" and "Negative Fashion"—were featured on the television show Higher Ground..
Powter's first single, "Bad Day", was first released in Europe in mid 2005, in advance of his second album, Daniel Powter. Warner Bros. Records submitted the single for commercial production, and it was subsequently chosen by Coca-Cola as the theme song for an ad campaign in Europe. The song achieved heavy airplay in most European countries, peaking at number three on the overall European airplay chart. It reached number one on national airplay in Germany, number one on the singles charts in the Republic of Ireland and Italy, number two in the United Kingdom,—where it stayed in the top ten for thirteen weeks—and number three in Australia.

Dimebag Darrell

Darrell Lance Abbott (August 20, 1966 – December 8, 2004), also known as Diamond Darrell and Dimebag Darrell, was an American guitarist. He was best known as a founding member of the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan. Abbott also contributed to the album Rebel Meets Rebel, a collaboration between Pantera and David Allan Coe. Darrell is considered to be one of the driving forces behind groove metal. Abbott was shot and killed while on stage during a Damageplan performance on December 8, 2004, at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. He ranked 92 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Guitarists.
Darrell Abbott was born to Carolyn and Jerry Abbott, a country musician and producer. He took up guitar when he was 12, and his first guitar was a Hondo Les Paul he got with a small amp. Winning a series of local guitar competitions, most notably held at The Agora Ballroom in Dallas, where he was awarded a Dean ML which he sold to Buddy Blaze who put a Floyd Rose bridge on it and gave it Dimebag's signature lighting bolt paint job and then gave it back to him years later.[citation needed] Coincidentally, his father had bought him a cherryburst finish Dean ML standard the morning before the competition.[citation needed]

Faith Hill (born Audrey Faith Perry; September 21, 1967) is an American country singer. She is known both for her commercial success and her marriage to fellow country star Tim McGraw. Hill was ranked the 39th best artist of the 2000-10 decade by Billboard.
Hill was born in Ridgeland, Mississippi, north of Jackson, Mississippi. She was adopted as an infant, and named Audrey Faith Perry. She was raised in the nearby town of Star, 25 miles outside of Jackson, Mississippi. Her adoptive parents raised their two biological sons along with Hill in a devout Christian environment.

Tramar Dillard (born December 16, 1979) better known by his stage name Flo Rida (pronounced /floʊ ˈraɪdə/), is an American rapper. He released his debut album, Mail on Sunday, in March 2008. His debut single "Low", featuring T-Pain, was a No. 1 hit for ten weeks in United States in early 2008. Two other singles resulted from Mail on Sunday: "Elevator" and "In the Ayer". Jeremy Taggart
Jeremy Ronald John Taggart (born April 7, 1975) is a Canadian drummer, best known for playing with Our Lady Peace since 1993.
Taggart was born in Toronto, Ontario and has two brothers and one sister. Music was a central part of his youth, as his parents were also musicians, and Taggart learned to play drums at an early age. He auditioned for the then up-and-coming Our Lady Peace in April 1993.
In 1993, Jim Newell, Our Lady Peace's previous drummer, left the band due to commitment issues. The remaining members and their management held open auditions for his replacement. They auditioned over a hundred drummers, and none of them thought a seventeen-year-old high school senior could possibly come out on top.

The band offered him the drumming position which Taggart accepted. Our Lady Peace had also recently been given a record deal with Sony Music Canada and were playing some small club shows. Taggart's age created a legal issue for the band; he was only seventeen and performers have to be legal drinking age, nineteen in Ontario, to perform in bars and clubs.

Jimmy Kimmel
James Christian "Jimmy" Kimmel (born November 13, 1967) is an American comedian, actor, voice artist and television host. He is the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show that airs on ABC. Prior to that, Kimmel was best known as the co-host of Comedy Central's The Man Show and Win Ben Stein's Money. Kimmel is also a television producer, having produced shows such as Crank Yankers, Sports Show with Norm Macdonald, and The Andy Milonakis Show.
Kimmel was born in the Mill Basin neighborhood of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, the eldest of three children of Joann (née Iacono), a homemaker, and James Kimmel, an IBM executive. He is Roman Catholic and, as a child, served as an altar boy. Kimmel is of German and Irish descent on his father’s side and Italian descent on his mother’s side. His uncle, Frank Potenza, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a regular from 2003 until his death in 2011.
The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, when he was nine years old. He graduated from Ed W. Clark High School and then attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas for one year before attending Arizona State University for two years without completing a degree.

Josey Scott
Josey Scott (born Joseph Scott Sappington May 3, 1972) is the former lead vocalist of Post-grunge/hard rock band Saliva. In addition to Saliva, Scott co-wrote and performed "Hero" (which was used as one of the theme songs to the 2002 film Spider-Man) with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback.
Prior to Saliva, Scott fronted a Memphis-area heavy metal band called BlackBone in the early 1990s. He also plays drums and guitar.
Scott made a cameo appearance on Jay-Z's "Takeover" from his 2001 album The Blueprint. He has also recorded with Lil Wyte ("Homicidal, Suicidal" and "Crazy"), Three 6 Mafia ("Getting Fucked Up" and "Mosh Pit"), and The (Even) More Human Than Human").
Scott has had minor roles in television and film. He played Rodney Gronbeck, a LAPD computer expert, in the TNT crime drama Wanted. He also has a cameo appearance in the film Hustle & Flow as Elroy, the corner-store employee who sells marijuana to D-Jay, the main character played by Terrance Howard.
Josey Scott sang the song "If You Wanna Get To Heaven" in the straight-to-DVD feature film The Dukes Of Hazzard: The Beginning, the song features when the General Lee is pulled from the water.

Justin Drew Bieber ( /ˈbiːbər/ BEE-bər, born March 1, 1994) is a Canadian Pop/R&B singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. Bieber was discovered in 2008 by Scooter Braun, who came across Bieber's videos on YouTube and later became his manager. Braun arranged for him to meet with Usher in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher, and then to a recording contract with Island Records offered by L.A. Reid. Bieber's debut single, "One Time", was released in 2009 and peaked in the top twenty in Canada and charted in the top thirty in several international markets. His debut album, the seven-track EP My World, followed in November 2009, and was soon certified platinum in the United States. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

After embarking on the The Fame Ball Tour, she followed the album with The Fame Monster (2009), which spawned the worldwide hit singles "Bad Romance", "Telephone" and "Alejandro". The album's success allowed her to embark on the eighteen-month long Monster Ball Tour, which later became one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time. Jonathan Smith (born January 27, 1971), better known by his stage name Lil Jon, is an American rapper, music producer, entrepreneur, and international DJ who was a member of the group Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz. Lil Jon formed the group in 1997, and the group released several albums between then and 2004. He then went solo and released a new album in 2010 called Crunk Rock.
Lil' Jon was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Frederick Douglass High School.
After working as a DJ for Atlanta night clubs, he started working for So So Def Recordings between 1993 and 2000. The group signed to the Atlanta-based Mirror Image Records and were distributed by Ichiban Records. In 1997, Lil' Jon & the East Side Boyz debuted with Get Crunk, Who U Wit: Da Album. It included singles "Who U Wit?" and "Shawty Freak a Lil' Sumthin'", the latter of which came out in 1998. Both singles charted on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 70 and No. 62 respectively. In 2000 Jon took part in starting up his own label BME Recordings and signed a distribution agreement with Norcross, Georgia based Southern Music Distribution. There he released his break through album titled We Still Crunk. Among the tracks on that project was the hit single "I Like Dem Girlz", which reached No. 55 on the R&B chart and No. 3 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart.

In 2001, he released Word of Mouf, followed by Chicken-n-Beer in 2003. He took a more serious approach with his next three albums, The Red Light District (2004), Release Therapy (2006), and Theater of the Mind (2008). His latest record, Battle of the Sexes, was released in 2010.

Matt Cameron
Matthew David "Matt" Cameron (born November 28, 1962) is an American musician who serves as the drummer for the American rock bands Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. After getting his start with the Seattle, Washington-based rock bands Bam Bam and Skin Yard, he first gained fame as the drummer for the grunge rock band Soundgarden, which he joined in 1986 and remained in until the band's break-up in 1997, triggered by creative friction. In 2010 Soundgarden reunited for new tour and have been recording new album. Cameron has been deputising for both bands.

Matt Cameron was born and raised in San Diego, California. Cameron began playing drums at an early age. At the age of thirteen, he and some friends played in a cover band called "Kiss" (with the word imitation written underneath the name, in small print). During this stint, he met Paul Stanley. However, after a letter from the management of the band Kiss threatened the boys with legal action if they did not cease their infringement, the band melted away.

Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California. Their first major-label release was the triple-platinum album Infest (2000). The group's success continued with their gold album Lovehatetragedy (2002), their platinum album Getting Away with Murder (2004), The Paramour Sessions (2006), and Metamorphosis (2009). The band's seventh album, Time for Annihilation, was released on August 31, 2010. The formation of Papa Roach began in January 1993, when lead singer Jacoby Shaddix and drummer Dave Buckner met on the Vacaville High School football field during an intense match, where the two ended up talking about music. They were later joined by trombonist Ben Luther and bass guitarist Will James. They decided to enter the school's talent show, where they performed a cover version of Jimi Hendrix's song "Fire", but they ultimately did not win the contest. In March 1993, trombonist Ben Luther was replaced by lead guitarist Jerry Horton from nearby Vanden High School. Horton was introduced to the band through his girlfriend, who was a fan. However, Jerry was at first apprehensive about joining the band because Jacoby, Buckner, and Will all went to different high schools. At this point, Papa Roach were practicing every day and touring on every gig they could get. Their first tour van was called Moby Dick, where Jacoby was inspired to come up with his first stage name "Coby Dick". The band's name comes from Shaddix's step-grandfather, Howard William Roatch, who was nicknamed Papa Roach. Roatch committed suicide in 2006 because he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The band pay homage to him with The Paramour Sessions and during live performances of the song "Roses On My Grave".

Timothy Zachery Mosley was born on March 10, 1972 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he was raised. He graduated from Salem High School. During his time as a DJ, he was known as "DJ Tim" or "DJ Timmy Tim". His brother, Sebastian, is nine years younger. Timbaland began making hip hop backing tracks on a Casio keyboard. While attending high school, he began a long-term collaboration with rapper Melvin Barcliff, who performed under the name of Magoo. The teenaged Mosley also joined the production ensemble S.B.I. (which stood for surrounded by idiots) which also featured Neptunes producer Pharrell. Mosley was also high school friends with Terrence and Gene Thorton, who would go on to be known as Pusha T and Malice of the rap group Clipse. In 1986, when Timbaland was 15 years old, he was shot while working a part time job at his local Red Lobster and was partially paralyzed for nine months. During this time, he began to learn how to DJ using his left hand.

Chad played guitar and sang, Mike played bass, Brandon played drums, and Peake was on guitar. The band is commonly referred to as playing post-grunge rock, in reference to its roots in and influences from Seattle grunge in the early 1990s. However the jagged rawness of early Nirvana and Pearl Jam is missing in this band's later pop-accented offerings. The band is now based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Chad Kroeger was born Chad Robert Turton, to parents Wendall 'Windy' Turton and Debbie Kroeger. Windy Turton was a "badass", according to Chad, who was a 6-foot-3 260-pounder and enjoyed getting into fights and punch-ups. He left the home when Chad was two, leaving Debbie to raise Chad and his half-brother, Mike Kroeger. Chad later adopted his mother's maiden name. Nickelback is a Canadian rock band from Hanna, Alberta. Since 1995 the band has included guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist and back-up vocalist Ryan Peake and bassist Mike Kroeger. The band's current drummer and percussionist is Daniel Adair who has been with the band since 2005, replacing drummer Ryan Vikedal who was with the band between 1998-2005. Nickelback's music is classed as hard rock,[2] post-grunge, and alternative rock.[1] Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide,[3] ranking as the 11th best selling music act of the 2000s, and is the 2nd best selling foreign act in the U.S. behind The Beatles for the 2000s.[4][5] Billboard ranks them the top Rock group of the decade and their hit song "How You Remind Me" was listed as the top Rock song of the decade as well as the 4th song of the decade. They were listed number 7 on the Billboard top artist of the decade list and they have 4 albums that were listed on the Billboard top albums of the decade.[6]
The band signed with Roadrunner Records in 1999 and re-released their once-independent album The State.[7] The band achieved commercial success with the release of their 2000 album The State and then they achieved mainstream success with the release of their 2001 album Silver Side Up.[8] Following the release of Silver Side Up the band released their biggest and most known hit today, "How You Remind Me" which peaked number 1 on the American and Canadian charts at the same time.[9] Then, the band's 4th album The Long Road spawned 5 singles and continued the band's mainstream success with their hit single "Someday" which peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 at the Canadian Singles Chart.[10] Afterwards, the band put out their biggest album to date, All The Right Reasons which produced 3 top 10 singles and 5 top 20 singles, on the Billboard Hot 100 example of songs like "Photograph", "Far Away", and "Rockstar".[9] The band's Dark Horse album was a success which produced eight singles, one of which peaked on the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and two of which peaked on the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band recently released their 2011 album, Here and Now which again topped the charts.[11] The band has won numerous awards and they've won 12 Juno Awards among 28 nominations.[12]
The band is based in Vancouver, Canada. The band's original domestic signing was with EMI Canada. They subsequently obtained an American deal with global distribution via Roadrunner Records. For the release of their seventh album, the band parted from EMI Canada and signed a new Canadian domestic distribution deal with Universal Music Canada.[13]

[edit] Curb and The State (1995–2000)
The band was formed in the early 1990s as a cover band called the "Village Idiots" by Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and Brandon Kroeger. The band performed covers of songs from Led Zeppelin and Metallica. Chad Kroeger then told his step-father to give him $4,000 so that the band can record their first demo, which was Hesher (EP).[14] Its name originates from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his job at Starbucks; he would frequently say, "Here's your nickel back."[15][16] Nickelback's first release was a seven-track EP called Hesher in 1996.[16] In the same year, they also recorded their first full-length album Curb. "Fly" was included on both Hesher and Curb and was the first single produced by Nickelback. In 1997, Brandon Kroeger left the band and the band searched for a new drummer.[citation needed] Later that year Mitch Guindon join the band, but he decided to leave in 1998 because he started working in a car company.[citation needed] In Summer 1998, Ryan Vikedal joined the band.
Roadrunner A&R Ron Burman told HitQuarters that one of his West Coast scouts sent him the self-released album and, suitably impressed, he travelled to Vancouver to see them perform live. Although an unknown property in the industry at the time, the venue was packed out. In Burman's words: "I immediately got the chills! I thought their song "Leader of Men" was a smash hit."[17] Off the stage he was impressed by their industry and initiative in managing their career: Despite this, it still took Burman three months for him to convince his label bosses' to approve the signing, a decision that would mark Roadrunner's first move into mainstream rock.[17] Nickelback signed a record deal with EMI and Roadrunner Records in 1999.
The State, was released by Nickelback in 2000 by Roadrunner Records and EMI Canada. The State, was released in Europe in 2001. It spawned 4 singles: "Old Enough", "Worthy To Say", "Leader of Men" and "Breathe", the last two being Top 10 rock hits. The album was certified platinum status in 2008, after the success of their later albums.[18] The album entered the Billboard 200 albums charts in position number 130 and peaked at number 3 in the Billboard Top Heatseekers albums chart and peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Top Independent albums chart.[19]
[edit] Silver Side Up and The Long Road (2001–04)
Around 2001 Chad Kroeger started "studying every piece, everything sonically, everything lyrically, everything musically, chord structure. I would dissect every single song that I would hear on the radio or every song that had ever done well on a chart and I would say, 'Why did this do well?'" Nickelback's single How You Remind Me, Kroeger told Bliss, sold so well because it was about romantic relationships, a universal subject, and contained memorable hooks.[20]

To record their third album Silver Side Up, Nickelback collaborated with producer Rick Parashar. The album was written before the release The State and was recorded at the same studio.[21] The disc was released on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The album peaked number 2 on the Billboard 200 with over 177,000 copies sold in its first week and peaked number 1 at the Canadian albums chart making the band's first album to do so.[22] The single "How You Remind Me" was a number one single on the Mainstream and Modern rock charts, as well as the pop chart.[citation needed] It also peaked at number two on Adult Top 40 and became the Billboard Hot 100 number one single of the year for 2001. The next single was "Too Bad", which also reached number one on the Mainstream Rock Chart.[citation needed] The final single from the album was "Never Again", which also one hit on Mainstream Rock.[citation needed]
In 2002, Chad Kroeger collaborated with Josey Scott on the Spider-Man theme song, "Hero". This recording also featured Tyler Connolly, Mike Kroeger, Matt Cameron, and Jeremy Taggart. In 2002, Nickelback released their first DVD Live at Home.
In 2003, Nickelback released The Long Road. The album was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA in March 2005 and it had sold 3,591,000 copies as of April 2011.[23] It has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and in 2003 only the album sold 2 million copies worldwide.[24] It debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200.
It was ranked #157 on Billboard's 200 Albums of the Decade.[25] It spawned five singles. The lead single was "Someday" .[26] The band also released "Feelin' Way Too Damn Good" as a single, which peaked at number 3 on the Mainstream Rock Charts. "Figured You Out" was also released as a single and topped the Mainstream Rock Charts for 13 consecutive weeks.
[edit] All the Right Reasons (2005–07)
In 2005, the band confirmed that their drummer Ryan Vikedal has left the band.[27] In November 2005, the band asked that Vikedal and his production company Ladekiv Music, Inc., give all financial interest in future royalties for the songs, featuring Vikedal as drummer and return any public performance royalties earned since January 2005. Chad Kroeger sued him from collecting royalties from the band's well known hits like How You Remind Me.[28] 3 Doors Down's drummer Daniel Adair joined the band. "We are totally thrilled to have Daniel in the band," Chad said. "The creativity that went on with him in the studio was really inspiring. He’s a totally amazing player." [29] The album peaked number 1 on the Billboard 200 with 323,350 copies in its first week in the United States.[30] Also, the album peaked number 1 at the Canadian albums chart. Nickelback's fifth studio album, All the Right Reasons (2005), produced five U.S. Hot 100 top 20 singles: "Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared" and "Rockstar". Three of these became U.S. Hot 100 top 10 singles. The album sold more than 12 million singles and over 9 million ringtones. The album also made the band he first band in Nielsen BDS history to have 5 singles on the CHR charts. In 2006, the band played at Sturgis, South Dakota to over 35,000 people at the Sturgis Bike Rally. The performance was filmed with 15 high-definition cameras. They released the DVD and Blu-Ray for it on 2009 several years after the performance.[31]
Also, the band spent much time of 2006 and 2007 touring across the globe. The band open up for Bon Jovi on their European leg of the tour.[32] The album's tour was very successful and the band sold over 2 million tickets over the album's tour.[33]
Chad Kroeger was arrested in the Surrey, British Columbia in June and charged with drunken driving. His attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf at a court hearing in August. In November 2006, the band won an American Music Award for best pop/rock album, surprising the band itself. "We just kinda showed up because we were supposed to give one of these away tonight," Chad Kroeger said after receiving the award. Chad Kroeger added he had thought the Red Hot Chili Peppers would win the award.[34]
It included appearances by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, who played a guitar solo on the song "Follow You Home" and sang backing vocals on "Rock Star"—and a posthumously sampled appearance by Chad Kroeger's friend Dimebag Darrell from Pantera, culled from guitar outtakes. The band also used more acoustic sound on some songs. "Savin' Me," for instance, included strings and piano as well as guitars. "We were a little scared of using piano," Chad Kroeger said in a biography on the band's website.[20] "We just didn't think it was very rock and roll." But once they heard the result, he added, they liked it. All the Right Reasons had sold over 7 million copies in the US to June 19, 2010.[35] Aside from all the success of All the Right Reasons, lead singer Kroeger began his own label named 604 Records in 2005 and holds the position of executive producer.[36] The group was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2007.[37]
[edit] Dark Horse (2008–10)
After taking much of 2007 off, the band started recording new album in earnest. In July 2008, the band signed with Live Nation for three touring and album cycles, with an option for a fourth.[38]
On September 4, 2008, Roadrunner Records announced that the first single from the upcoming album would be "If Today Was Your Last Day", released on September 30, 2008. However, the song was replaced by "Gotta Be Somebody".[39] The new album, produced by Mutt Lange and titled Dark Horse, was released on November 18, 2008.[40] "Something in Your Mouth" was released as the second single to rock radio only on December 15, where it reached number one. "If Today Was Your Last Day" was later released as the third single. Four more singles were released, "I'd Come for You", "Burn It to the Ground" and "Never Gonna Be Alone" released in September and "Shakin' Hands" as the seventh single on November 16.[41] Its eighth single, "This Afternoon", was released on March 23, 2010. Dark Horse was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on December 9, 2008, only three weeks after its North American release.[citation needed]
On November 26, 2008, the band announce the tour for the support of the album. Livenation produced the tour and the band kicked off on Nashville, Tennessee, with Seether, and Saving Abel as their opening acts.[42] The band then announced that they're about to tour on the UK with Black Stone Cherry as their opening act.[43] The band then announce the second leg of the tour on North America this time the opening acts were Hinder, Papa Roach, and once again Saving Abel.[43] The band then went on tour on Australia and New Zealand this time around with Sick Puppies as their supporting act.[43] For the second leg of Europe the band played with their opening act Daughtry.[44] The 3rd leg of the North America tour kicked of with Breaking Benjamin, Sick Puppies and Shinedown opening up for the band.[45] Lastly, the band ended their tour with the 4th leg of North America which included Buckcherry and Three Days Grace.[46] The tour was very successful and the band sold over 1.6 million tickets of the band's tour with 146 shows.[47]
The album also remained in the top 20 on the Billboard 200 for weeks after its release.[48][49] The album was certified two times platinum in April 2009, and had by April 2010 sold over 3 million copies in the U.S.[49] However, critical reception of the album has been mostly mixed to negative.[50] In 2009, the band won three Juno Awards for Juno Fan Choice Award, group of the year, and album of the year; the band performed their single "Something In Your Mouth" at the ceremony.[51] In 2010, Billboard year end charts listed Dark Horse as the top-selling rock and metal album of the year.[52] The band was also listed at the top selling hard rock artist.[53] On January 29, 2010 they released a Tap-Tap rhythm game for on the App Store, contrary to the band's prior comments against other music related video games such as Guitar Hero.[54] On February 28, 2010, Nickelback gave a performance at the beginning of the concert portion of the 2010 Winter Olympics closing ceremony, performing "Burn It to the Ground". On October 2010 Nickelback finished their Dark Horse Tour.[55]
[edit] Here and Now (2011-present)
Chad Kroeger said in an interview with Billboard.com in September 2010 that songwriting for the next Nickelback album was planned to commence as early as February 2011 with "about four tunes" already in mind.[56] Adair mentioned that the band wanted to go back to the musical style of All The Right Reasons, which he described as "more organic."[57]
Nickelback announced their new album, Here and Now, on September 8, 2011, along with its two lead singles, "Bottoms Up" and "When We Stand Together". Kroeger said “We’re four people who love making music, the way we like to make it. We entered the studio this year with a vision, and it all came together. We’re extremely happy with the results, and can’t wait to share them with our fans.” The album was released on November 21, 2011, with the band calling it "Nickelblack Monday", a play on Nickelback and Black Monday.[58] Two singles were released to radio stations on September 26, and September 27 for purchase on iTunes.[59]
Here and Now peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, selling 226,714 copies in its first week of release, with Christmas by Michael Bublé taking number one by a margin of only 419 copies.[60]
As part of promotion for the album, Nickelback was booked to perform at the halftime shows for both an NFL Thanksgiving Day game at Ford Field in Detroit on November 24, and the 99th Grey Cup in the band's hometown of Vancouver on November 27.[61] However, the announcement that Nickelback would perform at halftime in Detroit was met with heavy opposition by fans — who believed that a Canadian band should not be playing a halftime show for an American football game relating to an American holiday, and that Detroit's musical heritage would be damaged by an association with the band. An online petition proposing that Nickelback be removed from the festivities at the game received over 55,000 signatures from fans.[62][63] Nickelback responded to this on a video on Funny or Die as a joke.[64] Despite the objections, the band performed "When We Stand Together" during the halftime show. USA Today reporter noted however that the Detroit Lions' 7-point deficit going into halftime had received a more negative response than the performance.[65] On November 13, 2011 Nickelback preformed on the WWE Tribute to The Troops. Also, Nickelback donated $50,000 to BC Children's Hospital.[66] Also, as a promotion the band played to Jimmy Kimmel upon the album's release.[67] The band is nominated for 4 Juno Awards in 2012, and scheduled to perform at the ceremony.[68]
Nickelback announced their Here and Now Tour on January 11, 2012, they are going to tour with Seether, Bush and My Darkest Days.[36] The band released a music video for their third single of the album Lullaby.[69] In March, Nickelback announced a Europe Leg for their Here and Now Tour.

Review aggregator Metacritic reports that three of their six most recent studio albums since becoming a mainstream act, The Long Road, All the Right Reasons and Dark Horse, have scores of 62%, 41% and 49% respectively.[70][71][72]
The band has been criticised over their over-use of themes involving "strippers, sex, prostitutes, drugs, sex, drinking and sex",[73] for being derivative in the music they create, too often sticking to formula instead of innovating, and repetitive.[74][75][76] In November 2011, users of the music-oriented dating site, Tastebuds.fm voted Nickelback as the number one musical turnoff, edging out Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.[77]
Allmusic reviewer Liana Jones complimented Nickelback after their commercial breakthrough, Silver Side Up; "what gives the group an upper hand over its peers is intensity and raw passion... Nickelback ups the ante by offering realistic storytelling that listeners can relate to."[78] Following their 2008 album, Dark Horse, ChartAttack credited the band's success to knowing their target audience: "Chad Kroeger is a genius because he knows exactly what people want and precisely how far he can go. He turned out an extremely racy album that's loaded with songs about gettin' drunk and doin' it all without breaking any taboos, and with enough love and moral authority to grease its passage into the mainstream. Rejoice, North America. This is your world."[79] Billboard gave praise to the band: "The bulletproof Nickelback provides affordable fun that promises good returns in hard times."[80] Also various fellow musicians like Chris Martin of Coldplay[81] as well as R&B singer Timbaland[82] support the band.

Nickelback is a Canadian rock band from Hanna, Alberta. Since 1995 the band has included guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist and back-up vocalist Ryan Peake and bassist Mike Kroeger. The band's current drummer and percussionist is Daniel Adair who has been with the band since 2005, replacing drummer Ryan Vikedal who was with the band between 1998-2005. Nickelback's music is classed as hard rock,post-grunge, and alternative rock. Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, ranking as the 11th best selling music act of the 2000s, and is the 2nd best selling foreign act in the U.S. behind The Beatles for the 2000s.Billboard ranks them the top Rock group of the decade and their hit song "How You Remind Me" was listed as the top Rock song of the decade as well as the 4th song of the decade.
