Australia (
/əˈstreɪljə/), officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent as well as the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the north-east; and New Zealand to the south-east.
For at least 40,000 years before European settlement in the late 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians, who belonged to one or more of roughly 250 language groups. After discovery by Dutch explorers in 1606, Australia's eastern half was claimed by Great Britain in 1770 and settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. The population grew steadily in subsequent decades; the continent was explored and an additional five self-governing Crown Colonies were established.

Coronation Street
Coronation Street is an English television soap opera set in Weatherfield, a fictional town in Greater Manchester based on Salford. Created by Tony Warren, Coronation Street was first broadcast on 9 December 1960. The show has been on the air for over 51 years. Coronation Street is produced by ITV Granada Television under ITV Studios and shown in all ITV regions. It has been filmed in Manchester at the Granada Studios since inception, but filming will move to a new set at Media City in Trafford in 2013.
Since first being aired, it has been one of the most financially lucrative programmes on British commercial television, underpinning the success of its broadcaster ITV and its franchise Granada Television. On 17 September 2010, it became the world's longest-running TV soap opera in production, after the United States soap opera As the World Turns ended.
The first episode was aired on 9 December 1960 and was not initially a critical success; Daily Mirror columnist Ken Iriwin claimed the series would only last three weeks. Granada Television commissioned only 13 episodes and some inside the company doubted the show would last its planned production run. Despite the criticism, viewers were immediately drawn to the serial, won over by Coronation Street's 'ordinary' characters. The programme also made use of Northern English language and dialect; affectionate local terms like "eh, chook?", "nowt" (IPA
/ˈnaʊt/, means nothing), and "by heck!" became widely heard on British television for the first time.

Finchley

Finchley ( /ˈfɪntʃli/) is a district in Barnet in north London, England. Finchley is on high ground, about 11 km (6.8 mi) north of Charing Cross. It formed an ancient parish in the county of Middlesex, becoming a municipal borough in 1933, and has formed part of Greater London since 1965. It is predominantly a residential suburb, with three town centres.
Finchley probably means Finch's clearing or finches' clearing in late Anglo-Saxon; the name was first recorded in the early 13th century. Finchley is not recorded in the Domesday book, but by the 11th century its lands were already included in those of the Bishop of London. In early medieval period the area was sparsely populated woodland. During the 12th and 13th century proper farming began, and by the 15th and 16th century the woods on the eastern side of the parish were cleared to form Finchley Common. The medieval Great North Road, which ran through the common, was notorious for Highwaymen until the early 19th century.

Marylebone (
i/ˈmɑrlɨbən/ MAR-li-bən)[citation needed] is an affluent inner-city area of central London, located within the City of Westminster. It is sometimes written as St. Marylebone or Mary-le-bone.
Marylebone is in an area of London that can be roughly defined as bounded by Oxford Street to the south, Marylebone Road to the north, Edgware Road to the west and Great Portland Street to the east. A broader definition designates the historic area as Marylebone Village and encompasses neighbouring Regent's Park, Baker Street and the area immediately north of Marylebone Road, containing Marylebone Station, the original site of the Marylebone Cricket Club at Dorset Square, and the neighbourhood known as Lisson Grove to the border with St John's Wood. The west side of the Fitzrovia area up to Cleveland Street was also previously considered to be part of Marylebone.
Today the area is host to many medical and dental offices, traditionally concentrated in Harley Street. Since the opening of the Jubilee Line at Baker Street station (with its direct links to Canary Wharf), Marylebone – particularly Marylebone Village – has become an even more sought-after area in central London.

North London
North London is the northern part of London, England. It is an imprecise description and the area it covers is defined differently for a range of purposes. Common to these definitions is that it includes districts located north of the River Thames and is used in comparison with South London. However, it is also often used in comparisons with Central London, East London and West London.
The River Thames divides Greater London into two parts. The northern part includes most of the historic central areas including the City, the East End and the West End; and the majority of the London Underground network.
This area is made up of the City of London and the London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Enfield, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Harrow, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, and Westminster. This definition is used by the Boundary Commission for England. The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes sections on both sides of the River Thames. The boundary commission class the entire district as part of South London.

Old Street
Old Street is a street in east London that runs west to east from Goswell Road in Clerkenwell, in the London Borough of Islington, to the crossroads where it intersects with Shoreditch High Street (south), Kingsland Road (north) and Hackney Road (east) in Shoreditch in the London Borough of Hackney.
The nearest London Underground station is Old Street on the Northern Line. It is also on the National Rail Northern City Line.
Old Street was recorded as Ealdestrate c.1200 and le Oldestrete in 1373. As befits its name there are some suggestions that the road is of ancient origin: part of an old Roman road connecting Silchester and Colchester, by-passing the City of London. The western part was widened 1872-7, but it narrows east of Coronet Street and here survive, at Nos. 340-342 on the south side of the street and Nos. 323 and 325-329 on the north side, some domestic buildings from the eighteenth and early nineteenth century, though somewhat battered and altered in function. At the east end of Old Street on the south side is the old Shoreditch Town Hall.

Portland Hospital
The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, usually referred to simply as the Portland Hospital, is a hospital in Great Portland Street, London. It belongs to the Hospital Corporation of America, the largest private operator of health care facilities in the world.
The hospital has been the place of birth for several well known people in Britain, such as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as children of Jennifer Saunders, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Melanie C, Noel Gallagher, Katie Price, Gillian Anderson, Louise Burfitt-Dons, Claudia Schiffer, Boris Becker, Iona Robson and the grandchildren of Muhammad Zia ul Haq. It should also be noted that it is London's only private hospital dedicated entirely to the care of women and children, and their various health conditions.
The hospital occupies 3 buildings on Great Portland Street: The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, The Consulting Suite and The Maternal and Fetal Wellbeing Centre. According to its website, since the establishing of the hospital in 1983, over 32,000 babies have been born in the hospital. The children's unit offers service and conduct children up to 16 years of age from diagnosis, through to surgery and aftercare.[citation needed]

The company was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen as a group of market stalls. The Tesco name first appeared in 1924, after Cohen purchased a shipment of tea from T. E. Woodside Park

Woodside Park is a suburban residential area in London. It is located in the London Borough of Barnet, in postal district N12.
The area to the east of the tube station consists predominantly of large Victorian and Edwardian houses, many of which have been converted into flats. The north-western part of the area, which can also be regarded as the part of Totteridge in N12 rather than N20, is sometimes called Woodside Park Garden Suburb and consists of semi-detached or detached 3 to 4 bedroom houses built in the 1950s. It includes the Woodside Park Club. The eastern boundary of the Garden Suburb is the Dollis Brook and the southern boundary is the Folly Brook. To the south of this Suburb is an area of 1920s and 1930s houses, where many of the roads are named after places in Sussex, such as Sussex Ring and Cissbury Ring.
Between the Garden Suburb and the Northern Line is an area originally of Victorian housing. Many of the houses, including the former residence of Spike Milligan (now marked by a blue plaque placed in 2004 - see picture in this article), have been replaced by modern housing or apartments. The estate where Emma Bunton grew up is also located in the area.

Alesha Dixon
Alesha Anjanette Dixon (born 7 October 1978) is a British rapper, singer-songwriter, dancer, model and television personality. She first found fame in the all-female R&B/garage trio Mis-Teeq, however, the trio separated in 2005 and Dixon continued pursuing her music career as a solo artist, signing to Polydor Records. Dixon began recording her debut solo album, Fired Up, in 2006, but due to poor record sales of her first two singles, "Lipstick" and "Knockdown", she was dropped from Polydor.
In 2007 Dixon became a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and eventually won. Her television exposure led to a successful comeback, which included her signing to Asylum Records, an offshoot of Warner Music Group. Dixon then released a second album, entitled The Alesha Show, in 2008, which received platinum certification from BPI in the UK and spawned four singles including "The Boy Does Nothing" and "Breathe Slow", the latter of which became her highest charting single and earned her a Brit Award nomination.

Anastacia (born Anastacia Lyn Newkirk; September 17, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter. Anastacia has been highly successful in Europe, Australia, Asia, South Africa and South America, but has had only minor success in her native United States. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Baron Lloyd-Webber Kt. (born 22 March 1948) is an English composer and impresario of musical theatre.
Lloyd Webber has achieved great popular success in musical theatre. Several of his musicals have run for more than a decade both in the West End and on Broadway. He has composed 13 musicals, a song cycle, a set of variations, two film scores, and a Latin Requiem Mass. He has also gained a number of honours, including a knighthood in 1992, followed by a peerage from the British Government for services to Music, seven Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, fourteen Ivor Novello Awards, seven Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006.

Andy Abraham
Andrew Abraham (born 16 July 1964 in North London, England)[citation needed] is an English singer. He was the runner-up in the second UK series of TV talent show The X Factor in 2005 to Shayne Ward, and also represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008.
Before applying for The X Factor, Abraham was a refuse collector. Prior to this he worked as a bus driver for Arriva London North based at Palmers Green bus garage. Abraham has two children by his wife Denise, a daughter called Tara and a son called Jacob. He is of Grenadian descent.
Abraham was narrowly beaten to the top spot on The X Factor by Shayne Ward by 1.2% of the national public vote. Abraham was mentored throughout the competition by Sharon Osbourne although fellow judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh also praised the singer highly throughout the competition. Other performers who came to prominence in the same series of The X Factor were finalists Journey South and quarter-finalist Chico Slimani.
On 26 March 2006, Abraham's debut album entered the UK album chart at number two, selling 176,000 copies in its first week and being beaten to the top spot by Journey South.

Angela Rippon
Angela M. Rippon OBE (born 12 October 1944) is an English television journalist, newsreader, writer and presenter. Rippon presented radio and television news programmes in South West England before moving to BBC One's Nine O'Clock News, becoming a regular presenter in 1975. She was the first female journalist to present the BBC national television news on a permanent basis.
Rippon appeared on a Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show in 1976, presented the first two seasons of Top Gear and Come Dancing. She was a presenter on, and co-founder of, breakfast television franchisee TV-am. In the 1990s, she moved to radio, presenting news bulletins for LBC Newstalk between 1990 and 1994, and appeared on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast as a stand-in newsreader.
Rippon has written fourteen books, toured with a production of Anything Goes and presented a segment of BBC One's The One Show. She was awarded an Order of the British Empire in 2004 and currently co-presents Rip-off Britain with Gloria Hunniford.

Arlene Phillips
Arlene Phillips OBE (born 22 May 1943) is an English choreographer, theatre director, talent scout, TV presenter, TV judge and former dancer, who has worked in many fields of entertainment. For many years she was most noted as the choreographer of numerous West End and Broadway musicals, films and television shows, but she has since achieved mainstream fame as a judge on television talent shows including Strictly Come Dancing and So You Think You Can Dance. On 15 April 2010, she made her first appearance as a panellist for the ITV1 television series Loose Women.
Phillips was born in 1943 and grew up in Prestwich, Lancashire, England. She is Jewish and has a brother, Ian and a sister, Karen. When Phillips was 15, her mother, who had been suffering from leukaemia, died aged 43. Her father died of Alzheimer's at age 89.
Phillips originally wanted to be a ballet dancer and began dance classes at the age of three, studying ballet and tap dance at the Muriel Tweedy School in Manchester. Her mother had always expressed a desire to dance, which inspired Phillips into pursuing dance professionally.

Brian Harvey
Brian Lee Harvey (born 8 August 1974) is an English musician and former lead singer of pop band East 17.
Harvey was born in Walthamstow, London, and attended Sir George Monoux School from 1988-90.
Harvey was initially slated to be a backup singer and dancer for East 17, but during the initial recording session he was heard singing along by the recording staff and was promptly instated as the lead singer of the band.
Harvey's vocal style emulated R&B and new jack swing vocalists from the U.S. His vocals put him into a position of the band's frontman, or main member, which was shared with the band's creator, songwriter, instrumentalist, rapper and singer Tony Mortimer.
Throughout the course of the band's career the two leads had many disagreements, from how to vocalise songs to their behaviour in public. This tore the band between spiritual pop/hip-hop (Mortimer's writing influence) and R&B (the other band members) which would eventually lead to Mortimer leaving the band and Harvey becoming the only lead singer.

Bruce Welch
Bruce Welch OBE, (born Bruce Cripps, 2 November 1941, Bognor Regis, Sussex, England) is an English guitarist, songwriter, producer and singer, best known as a member of The Shadows.
His parents (Stan Cripps and Grace Welch) never married but his mother relocated him to 15 Broadwood View, Chester-le-Street: she died when Welch was aged 6. Welch grew up with his Aunt Sadie in Chester le Street, County Durham. After learning to play the guitar, he formed a Tyneside skiffle band called The Railroaders when he was fourteen. His Rutherford Grammar School friend Brian Rankin (later to be known as Hank Marvin), joined the group and they travelled to London in 1958 for the final of a talent competition. Although they did not win, they joined with members of other entrant bands and formed The Five Chesternuts with Pete Chester (born 1942), son of comedian Charlie Chester on drums.
On moving to London Bruce and Hank Marvin briefly operated as the Geordie Boys before enlisting in an outfit called The Drifters.

Bruno Tonioli
Bruno Tonioli (born 25 November 1955) is an Italian choreographer and TV personality who appears as a judge on the television dance competition Strictly Come Dancing for BBC TV in the UK, and its American adaptation Dancing with the Stars on ABC TV in the US, Tonioli co-created and appeared on the BBC talent show DanceX and its American adaptation, Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.
In the early 1970s, Tonioli was a member of the Paris-based company La Grande Eugène and later joined the Lindsay Kemp Company. He worked extensively as a freelance dancer, including an appearance in Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" video.
Tonioli has worked in the music business as a choreographer for music videos, stage shows, and tours for artists such as Tina Turner, Sting, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Freddie Mercury, Sinitta, Boy George, and Duran Duran. His close association with Bananarama produced many videos, from "Venus" to "Movin' On". Tonioli choreographed the band Arcadia's music video for their song "Election Day" as documented in a 1980s documentary entitled The Making of Election Day.

Carl Davis
Carl Davis CBE (born October 28, 1936, New York City, United States) is an American born conductor and composer who has made his home in the UK since 1961. In 1970 he married the English actress Jean Boht.
Carl is a conductor with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and regularly conducts the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He has written music for more than 100 television programs, but is best known for creating music to accompany silent films. Davis has assisted in the orchestration of the symphonic works of Paul McCartney.
Davis achieved early prominence with the title music for the BBC anthology play series The Wednesday Play and later for Play for Today. Additional television scores include Up Pompeii! Carol Smillie
Carol Patricia Smillie (born 23 December 1961) is a Scottish television personality, model and actress. Smillie is well known for presenting the award winning BBC series Changing Rooms, which won her a National Television Award for Most Popular Factual Programme in 1998.
She became the hostess of the British version of the international television game show Wheel of Fortune in 1989. Smillie achieved further recognition a few years later when she appeared on the BBC television channel, firstly as a reporter on The Travel Show, and then Holiday, often as the programme's presenter. However, it was the DIY programme Changing Rooms that really established her name, and led to her presenting other primetime shows for the BBC, such as the National Lottery and her own morning chat show Smillie's People.
Smillie continues to present television shows, mainly on the STV channel, but in recent years has moved into other areas of entertainment. Smillie has appeared on the stage in theatre productions of The Vagina Monologues, (2006 and 2007), and Hormonal Housewives (2010 and 2012), touring both plays around Scotland.

Carrie Grant
Carrie Grant (born Caroline Vanessa Gray, 17 August 1965) is a British vocal coach and session singer. She is best known for her work on the television talent contests Fame Academy,Comic Relief does Fame Academy and Pop Idol, together with her husband and colleague David Grant. She is also personal voice coach to many successful pop stars. She first came to fame as a singer in her own right with the pop group Sweet Dreams in 1983, when they represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest that year with the song I'm Never Giving Up.
Since 2010 she has been a regular reporter on BBC One's magazine programme The One Show.
She and husband David have three daughters: Olivia, Talia and Imogen. Olivia played Alice in the fifth series of The Story of Tracy Beaker and went on to a small role in EastEnders. She then went on to play the part of Mia Stone in the CBBC show Half Moon Investigations.
Grant has suffered from Crohn's disease since the age of 18 and has been praised by science education charity Sense About Science for her efforts in raising the profile of the disease without making any scientifically unsound claims about available therapies.

Cathy Dennis
Cathy Dennis (born Catherine Roseanne Dennis, 25 March 1969) is a British singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. After a moderately successful international solo career, Dennis later received great success as a writer of pop songs, scoring 8 UK number ones and winning five Ivor Novello Awards.
In 2004, Dennis was listed 66th in the Q Magazine list of the top 100 most influential people in music and in 2006 she won the UK music industry's Woman of the Year Award.
Educated at Taverham high school, as a teenager she was spotted recording Stevie Wonder-influenced demos at The Kitchen in Norwich with her father (himself an experienced musician and local restaurateur) on piano. At the time she was working for Norwich Union. Simon Fuller signed her to his 19 Management company (with whom she is still signed) and to label Polydor at aged 17, and this began a career-long association with the impresario that has seen Dennis provide songs for many Fuller-related artists and projects.
Dennis achieved her first success as a vocalist with D Mob, when their single "C'mon and Get My Love" reached #15 in the UK Singles Chart and #10 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. It is regarded as an underground classic in the dance music field, and a second collaboration with D Mob, "That's the Way of the World" (not to be confused with the hit song by Earth, Wind & Fire of the same name), was also a major dance hit. It was followed by Dennis' debut album, Move to This.

Cathy McGowan
Cathy McGowan (born 1943) is a British broadcaster and journalist, presenter from 1964-6 of Rediffusion television’s rock music show, Ready Steady Go!
Ready Steady Go! (RSG) was first broadcast in August 1963, coinciding with the rise of The Beatles in Britain and internationally. As one historian of television reflected in the 1970s, "the revolution had the greatest possible effect on television ... and hindsight commentators were to see the year [1963] as a line of demarcation drawn between one kind of Britain and another".
With its slogan ,"the weekend starts here",RSG was shown on Fridays from 6-7pm. Its original presenter Keith Fordyce (1928-2011), a stalwart of the BBC Light Programme and Radio Luxembourg, was joined in 1964 by Cathy McGowan. McGowan, recruited as an advisor from 600 applicants, had been in the fashion department of Woman’s Own. She is said to have secured the role in a "run off" with journalist Anne Nightingale, later a disc jockey on Radio 1, by answering "fashion" to a question from Elkan Allan (1922–2006), RSG's executive producer and head of entertainment at Rediffusion, as to whether sex, music or fashion were more important to teenagers.

Charles Klapow
Charles "Chucky" Klapow (born July 5, 1980) is an American choreographer and dance instructor who has performed and choreographed for various performers and several television and stage productions. He is also known for his teachings of the mental approach to dance. Klapow's mother is Filipino and his father is Russian American.
Charles began his dancing career at age 12, dancing for Patti LaBelle, Celine Dion, Sheila E., Salt-N-Pepa, Melissa Etheridge, and others in an all-star concert for the Pediatric AIDS Foundation. This included a dancing spot in the Paula Abdul music video "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah". By the time he was 15, Charles was an assistant to choreographer and mentor Marguerite Derricks. He assisted Marguerite and danced in Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery (1997), 3rd Rock from the Sun, Fame L.A., among others. Charles created a dance company with partner Wade Robson in the mid-1990s called L.A. Images.
In the fall of 2000, Charles Klapow started choreographing for the Swedish pop group the A*Teens. He was their choreographer for music videos including "Floorfiller", "Halfway Around The World", "Sugar Rush", "Can't Help Falling In Love", and "I Promised Myself" as well as their tour director and choreographer from 2001-2003. These tours took Charles to Germany, Sweden and all over the United States, with additional spot dates in Mexico, Spain, Russia, and Denmark.

Cheryl Baker
Cheryl Baker (born Rita Maria Crudgington, 8 March 1954, Bethnal Green, London) is an English television presenter and singer. She is most famous for being a member of 1980s pop group Bucks Fizz, and has performed for the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, winning it the second time.
After leaving school and a series of secretarial jobs, Cheryl Baker began her professional singing career with the band Co-Co. The group entered A Song for Europe in 1976 with the song "Wake Up". They came second, being beaten by (eventual Eurovision winners) Brotherhood of Man by two points.
The group continued to perform together and in 1978, they entered A Song for Europe again with "The Bad Old Days". This time they won and went on to perform for the UK in Paris. The song managed 11th place - the lowest placing by a UK entry up to that point. The song became a hit single, reaching 13 in the UK Singles Chart. On the back of this, the group released their first (and only) album as well as further singles. None of these found any success.

Chris Fountain
Christopher Ryan Fountain (born 3 September 1987 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England) is an English actor best known for his role as Justin Burton on the Channel 4 teen soap Hollyoaks, a role he played from 2003 until his departure in June 2009. Fountain had minor roles in Blood Strangers (2002) and Bob and Rose (2001), and has appeared in the dramas Where the Heart Is (2002), The Royal (2003) and Burn It (2003).
In February 2006, Fountain came third in the BBC show Just the Two of Us, a singing competition in which celebrities are paired up with professional singers and are voted off, day by day. His singing partner was the former S Club 7 member Jo O'Meara.
On 7 June 2006, Fountain injured himself on location whilst filming for Hollyoaks when he touched an electric fence.

Christine Bleakley
Christine Louise Bleakley (born 2 February 1979) is a television presenter from Northern Ireland. She joined Daybreak on ITV as co-presenter with Adrian Chiles in September 2010. She is a former co-presenter of BBC One's The One Show, and a former contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
On 18 November 2011 it was announced that Bleakley is to co-host Dancing On Ice alongside Phillip Schofield after Holly Willoughby left because of other commitments. She departed her role as Daybreak presenter on Monday 5 December 2011 following the appointment of a new editor.
Christine Bleakley was born on 2 February 1979 in Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland, to mother Mina and father Frederick, a musician, and grew up in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland. She has a younger sister, Nicola.
Bleakley started her television career as a runner and then trained to become a floor manager whilst studying for her A-Levels at Bloomfield Collegiate School in Ballyhackamore, Belfast. She continued to work at BBC NI whilst studying for a politics degree at Queen's University, Belfast. She did not complete her degree course, however, instead moving into television work full time.

Christopher Dean
Christopher Colin Dean, OBE (born 27 July 1958 in Calverton, Nottinghamshire, England) is a famous British ice dancer who won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics with his skating partner Jayne Torvill. They also won a bronze medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Christopher Dean began to skate at the age of 10 after he received a pair of skates as a Christmas present. His parents were keen ballroom dancers. At school he was captain of the football team and he saw ice skating as a sport that was athletic and graceful. Dean's first ice partner was Sandra Elson. They began skating together when he was 14 and competed as ice dancers for a few years. However, despite becoming British Junior Dance champions, the team parted, as Dean and Elson did not get along well. Dean then agreed to try out Jayne Torvill, another skater at the Nottingham rink. The pair were first coached by Janet Sawbridge but in 1978 Betty Callaway became their coach.

Claire King
Claire King (born Claire Seed on 10 January 1963) is a popular English actress, best known for playing the roles of Kim Tate in the ITV Soap Opera Emmerdale from 1989 to 1999 and Karen Betts in Bad Girls from 2000 to 2004.
King attended Harrogate Ladies College, and as a punk chose a career in the music business, as a disc jockey in a Leeds nightclub. She then joined the pop groups Fidea and later To Be Continued as lead singer.
Her career moved her to London, where she lived with Geoff Bird, alias guitarist Cobalt Stargazer of the group Zodiac Mindwarp. After making her acting debut dancing in one of their videos, the relationship broke down and she became a Rock n Roll Groupie. After a series of short term relationships, she decided to become an actress, but when she tried to register with actors union Equity, she found there was already another Claire Seed, so changed her name to King in light of her love of horse racing (the sport of kings) and her favourite singer Elvis Presley.

Claire Sweeney
Claire Jane Sweeney (born 17 April 1971) is an English actress, singer and television personality, best known for playing the role of Lindsey Corkhill in the Channel 4 soap opera Brookside and her appearance on the first series of the reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother.
Born in Walton, Liverpool, she is the daughter of a butcher who had a shop in Toxteth. She trained at the Elliott-Clarke Theatre School in Liverpool, and worked on the weekends in her fathers shop.
Her first singing gig, at the age of 14, was in the Montrose Club in Liverpool. She was then educated fulltime at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. In 1987, she was a member of the Southport Summer Youth Theatre Workshop's production of the musical Hair. Following this production, she auditioned for a part in the Southport Arts Centre's Centre Stage Company production of Chicago but was turned down because she was considered too young; she later went on to star in a West End version of the same show.
After leaving stage school, Sweeney had many singing engagements before landing the role of Lindsey Corkhill in Brookside in 1991. She entertained cruise ships for P&O as a singer for four years before returning to England. On her return, Sweeney reprised her role of Lindsey and remained on the show as a leading character until its demise in 2003.

Clare Buckfield
Clare Buckfield (born 10 April 1976) is an English actress, best known for playing the role of Jenny Porter in the BBC sitcom 2point4 children for most of the nineties and Natasha Stevens in the CBBC series Grange Hill.
From an early age both she and her identical twin sister Julie harboured ambitions to be actresses, leading their mother to hire her daughters an agent. As a result Clare and Julie appeared in local productions and were offered modelling work.
A graduate of the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, Buckfield originally auditioned for the part of Natalie Stevens in BBC 1 teenage soap "Grange Hill". She lost out to her twin sister Julie who was auditioning for the part of Chrissy Mainwaring, but Clare eventually won the role of Natasha Stevens in 1992. She appeared in "Grange Hill" for two years.
Clare and Julie competed again to replace Clare Woodgate as character Jenny Porter in 2point4children, but this time Clare got the part over Julie. Clare appeared in the series up until the year 1999, when the premature death of actor Gary Olsen in 2000 ensured this special millennium episode would be the last.

Claudia Winkleman
Claudia Anne I. Winkleman (born 15 January 1972) is an English television presenter, film critic, radio personality and journalist.
Winkleman was born in Westminster, London, to a Jewish family, the daughter of Eve Pollard, former editor of the Sunday Express, and Barry Winkleman (born 1939), former publisher of The Times Atlas of the World. Her parents divorced when she was three; both remarried in 1979. Her stepfather is Sir Nicholas Lloyd, former editor of the Daily Express, and her half-sister, from her father's second marriage, to children's author Cindy Black, is actress Sophie Winkleman, wife of Lord Frederick Windsor. Clodagh Rodgers
Clodagh Rodgers (English pronunciation: Clo-da) (born 5 March 1947) is a singer and actress from Northern Ireland, best known for her hit singles including, "Come Back and Shake Me" and "Jack in the Box".
Born in Ballymena, Rodgers began her professional singing career when she opened for Michael Holliday at 13. Her father, a dancehall tour promoter helped her to sign with Decca in 1962. She made four singles before moving to EMI's Columbia label in 1965, where she was known as 'Cloda Rogers', the name under which she made the 1966 single "Stormy Weather"/"Lonely Room". Although none of the singles she released for Decca or Columbia made the UK Singles Chart, Rodgers did succeed in becoming a regular face on British television and appeared in the musical films Just for Fun and It's All Over Town. She also appeared in various song festivals, finishing third in the European Song Cup competition in Greece, singing "Powder Your Face With Sunshine". In November 1963 Rodgers flew to Nashville, Tennessee, at the invitation of the American singer Jim Reeves, and performed at the Grand Ole Opry. She had been one of the acts Reeves had known from his Irish tour earlier that year. Reeves had spotted that Rodgers was a promising artist, who had a bright future in front of her.

Coleen Nolan
Coleen Patricia Nolan (born 12 March 1965) is an English television presenter, author and singer of Irish descent. She was the youngest member of the girl group, The Nolans, in which she sang alongside her sisters. She has since then appeared on various television shows both as a presenter and panellist (most prominently on ITV's daytime show, Loose Women) as well as appearing on reality television programmes. In 2009 she toured again with the Nolans.
Nolan joined her sisters in The Nolans in 1980 when she was fifteen years old, though her first television appearance with her sisters though was on 5 February 1974 when she was almost nine years old, as The Nolans appeared on the It's Cliff Richard! television series, and she had appeared with them in the video for their 1979 single, "I'm In The Mood For Dancing", though she was not actually a part of the group at this point and did not actually perform on the song. Dale Winton
Dale Winton (born 22 May 1955) is an English radio DJ and television presenter.
Winton's father, Gary, died when Winton was 13, on the day of Winton's bar mitzvah.[citation needed] Winton was brought up by his mother, actress Sheree Winton. Sheree was often referred to as 'the English Jayne Mansfield'. She committed suicide by drug overdose in 1976, after a lifelong battle with clinical depression.
Winton started DJ'ing in clubs in Richmond in 1972, where he met Steve Allen. The two have remained best friends since. From there he had a selection of menial jobs including selling time shares abroad. In 1982, Winton moved to London and began his entertainment career on the London club circuit, where he DJ'd at weekends. This led him to United Biscuits Industrial Radio where he did a variety of jobs, before getting his own morning show. From here he joined Radio Trent in Nottingham, where he presented a weekend show, moving to the weekday mid-morning show, before leaving in 1985, and going on to work at a number of other local radio stations.

Daniel Whiston
Daniel Whiston (born 21 November 1976 in Blackpool) is an English ice skater. He appeared in Strictly Ice Dancing on BBC One and all series of ITV show Dancing on Ice. He won the first series of Dancing on Ice while partnering actress Gaynor Faye, and the fifth series with former Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon.
Whiston started ice skating at the age of seven at the Pleasure Beach Ice Arena in Blackpool. He worked in the Arena and took part in his first show there when he was 18 years old. He also appeared in a tour of Grease on Ice in North America, and appeared in the Hot Ice show at the Arena until 2006. He appears in the DVDs of the Hot Ice shows Quixotic, Xylatomia, H2O, Amarin and Chill.[citation needed]
Whiston appeared in the one-off Strictly Ice Dancing broadcast on BBC 1 on 26 December 2004. He won the first series of Dancing on Ice in 2006 with partner, actress Gaynor Faye. He was also a presenter at the British Soap Awards on 24 May 2006. In the second series of Dancing on Ice in 2007 he reached the semi-finals, finishing fourth, with actress Emily Symons, before being eliminated in a skate-off against singer Duncan James and his partner, Maria Filippov. With Symons also appearing in the soap opera, Emmerdale set in and filmed in West Yorkshire, they initially trained at Bradford Ice Arena in Bradford each week before travelling down to London for dress rehearsals.

Danielle Jane Minogue also known as "Dannii" Minogue (born 20 October 1971) is an Australian singer-songwriter, actress, television personality, radio personality, fashion designer and model. Deke Arlon
Deke Arlon (born Anthony Howard Wilson) is a British music publisher and music manager whose clients included Kenny Young, Sheena Easton, Ron Grainer, Elaine Paige, Dennis Waterman, Helen Watson, and Marti Pellow.
Arlon began his own band Deke Arlon and the Tremors in 1959 where the band established itself in the south coast England rock scene. In 1964, Deke Arlon and his then group The Offbeats recorded a session with 1960s pop producer Joe Meek. This resulted in one single, "I'm Just A Boy/Can't Make Up Mind" released on Columbia. He went on to record another single for HMV in 1964, and three more singles for Columbia during 1965 and 1966, all solo recordings. Arlon eventually went on to do theatre and television shows, such as Dad You're a Square, Thank Your Lucky Stars and Crossroads where he met his future wife, Jill. It was the prospect of securing a mortgage, with its demand of a ‘proper’ job with proof of a regular income that forced Arlon into what was to have been a temporary career move from performing to music publishing.

Diane Eve Warren (born September 7, 1956), is an American songwriter. Her songs have received six Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe nominations, including one win, and seven Grammy Award nominations, including one win. Warren was born in Van Nuys, California, where she said she felt misunderstood and "alien" as a Jewish kid growing up. She says she was rebellious as a child and told NPR's Scott Simon that she got into trouble and ran away as a teen but returned because she missed her cat. She began writing music when she was 14. "Music saved me", she said. Warren also has said that her mother asked her to give up her dream of a songwriting career and take a secretarial job. However, her father continued to believe in her and encouraged her. She wrote the song "Because You Loved Me" as a tribute to her father for his encouragement.

DJ Spoony is the stage name of Johnathan Joseph (born 25 June 1970, Hackney, London) who is a British DJ, and former BBC Radio 1 presenter.
Spoony's career started on London Underground (a leading pirate radio station in the mid-nineties). He then joined Kiss 100, where he became a member of the Dreem Teem with Mikee B and Timmi Magic. The Dreem Team then via a groundbreaking show on Galaxy brought UK garage to Radio 1 in January 2000. They guys went on to win a prestigious Sony award in their first year.
He went on to host the Weekend Breakfast show on Radio 1 between October 2003 - Sept 2006. Listeners could join the Early Doors Club, play Judge Fudge, and become a Local Legend. On 31 July 2006 the BBC announced that Spoony was to leave Radio 1 after six years with the station to concentrate on Five Live work. Donal MacIntyre
Donal MacIntyre (born 25 January 1966, Dublin) is an Irish investigative journalist, specialising in investigations, undercover operations and television exposés. Frances Ruffelle
Frances Ruffelle (born 29 August 1965, London, England, UK) is an English musical theatre actress and recording artist. Her mother is Sylvia Young, the founder of the famous theatre school at which Frances trained, and her daughter is recording artist Eliza Doolittle. Her younger sister is actress Alison Ruffelle. Ruffelle originated the role of Éponine in the English language version of Les Misérables for which she won a Tony Award. She has appeared in Starlight Express, Children of Eden and Chicago.
Ruffelle's first West End appearance was as Louisa in Terence Rattigan's The Sleeping Prince. In 1984, she took on the principal role of Dinah in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express in the original London cast. A year later, she had left Starlight and joined the original London cast of Les Misérables as Éponine. Though virtually an unknown outside of the West End, she and Colm Wilkinson were invited to reprise their roles for the Broadway launch.[citation needed] Ruffelle was nominated for and won multiple awards (including the Tony) for her role. Gaby Roslin
Gaby Roslin (born July 12, 1964) is an English television presenter and actress. She rose to fame while co-presenting The Big Breakfast on Channel 4 between 1992 and 1996, and also presented the BBC's Children in Need charity appeal from 1994 to 2004.
Roslin is the daughter of the former BBC radio announcer Clive Roslin, who was born and raised in London. Her family is Jewish, originating from Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia). At the end of that show she was approached by Planet 24 to present their new early-morning programme The Big Breakfast alongside Chris Evans on Channel 4. Evans left the show in 1994 and Roslin continued with his replacement, former Neighbours star Mark Little, until 1996. Gary Davies
Gary Davies (born in Manchester on 13 December 1957) is a British broadcaster. During the 1980s and 1990s he was a BBC Radio 1 disc jockey and also a regular presenter of Top of the Pops.
After working in marketing for a mail order company and managing a Manchester disco, Davies began his broadcasting career at Manchester's Piccadilly Radio in 1979 before joining BBC Radio 1 in 1982 to present a Saturday late night show. Within weeks he was on the roster to present Top Of The Pops on BBC television alongside his Radio 1 colleagues. He initially spoke with strong hints of a Mancunian accent, but by the mid-1980s he had adopted an exaggerated mid-Atlantic twang, which would become the object of much parody by the early 1990s .
In 1984 Davies was given the slot for which he became one of radio's biggest stars when he took over the Radio 1 lunchtime show. He called it The Bit In The Middle and it consisted of humorous features, such as The Day-To-Day Challenge, in which the same person would go on air each weekday to answer quiz questions and try to upgrade their prize, and Willy On The Plonker, which involved a crazed piano-playing of a well-known hit for listeners to identify.

Gary Edward Lucy (born 27 November 1981, Chigwell, Essex) is an English television actor and model, best known for his roles as DC Will Fletcher on ITV police drama The Bill, Kyle Pascoe on Footballers' Wives and on Channel Four teen soap Hollyoaks, as Luke Morgan.

Sir George Henry Martin CBE (born 3 January 1926) is an English record producer, arranger, composer, conductor, audio engineer and musician. Georgina Bouzova
Georgina Bouzová (born 1 June 1976) is an English television actress best known for her former role as Ellen Zitek in the BBC One medical drama Casualty. Previously, Bouzová had a number of minor television roles including in Doctors, Mile High, The Bill and Murder in Suburbia.

Gloria Hunniford
Gloria Hunniford (born Mary Winifred Gloria Hunniford on 10 April 1940)[citation needed] is a Northern Irish TV and radio presenter, and formerly a singer.
Hunniford was born in Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, into a Protestant family; her father was a member of the Orange Order. Harriet Marie Scott (born 23 January 1972) is a British radio presenter, and current co-host of the Breakfast show on London's Heart along with Jamie Theakston.
After studying History at Hull University, she got her first break in radio when she became a production assistant for BBC Radio Humberside. A move to GWR followed, after which she worked at a number of other stations. These include Viking FM, 2-Ten FM, and BRMB in Birmingham.

Harry Hill (born Matthew Keith Hall on 1 October 1964),[citation needed] is a Perrier Award–winning English comedian, author and television presenter. A former medical doctor (who remains on the General Medical Council's List of Registered Medical Practitioners), Hill began his career in comedy with the popular radio show Harry Hill's Fruit Corner.
Hill was born in Woking, Surrey and spent part of his childhood living in Hong Kong where he attended Island School. The family then moved to Staplehurst, Kent where Hill attended the local primary school. He was educated at Angley School and then Cranbrook School in Kent and St George's Hospital Medical School before training in neurosurgery at the University of London. Herbert "Herb" Alpert (born March 31, 1935) is an American musician most associated with the group variously known as Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, or TJB. Holly Marie Willoughby (born February 10, 1981), is an English television presenter and model, known for her work in presenting children's TV and entertainment shows. In her early career she modelled underwear and went on to present CD:UK. Ian Robins Dury (12 May 1942 – 27 March 2000) was an English rock and roll singer, lyricist, bandleader, artist, and actor who initially rose to fame during the late 1970s, during the punk and New Wave era of rock music. He is best known as founder and lead singer of the British band Ian Dury and the Blockheads, who were one of the groups of the New Wave era in the UK.
Dury was born in north-west London at his parents' home at 43 Weald Rise, Harrow Weald, Harrow (although he often pretended that he had been born in Upminster, Havering and indeed all but one of his obituaries in the national press stated this). His father, William George Dury (born 23 September 1905, Southborough, Kent; died 25 February 1968), was a bus driver and former boxer, while his mother Margaret (known as "Peggy", born Margaret Cuthbertson Walker, 17 April 1910, Rochdale, Lancashire) was a health visitor, the daughter of a Cornish doctor, and granddaughter of an Irish landowner.
William Dury trained with Rolls-Royce to be a chauffeur, and was then absent for long periods, so Peggy Dury took Ian to stay with her parents in Cornwall. After the Second World War, the family moved to Switzerland, where his father chauffeured for a millionaire and the Western European Union. In 1946 Peggy brought Ian back to England and they stayed with her sister, Mary, a physician in Cranham, a small village bordering Upminster. Although he saw his father on visits, they never lived together again.

Imaani Saleem (born Melanie Crosdale, 1972, Nottingham, England) is an English singer.
In 1998 she entered the A Song For Europe competition to find the UK's song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her track "Where Are You" was a runaway winner with the British public and was selected to represent the UK. Imaani finished six points behind the winner Dana International, in second place in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998.
After its success in the contest, "Where Are You" entered the UK Singles Chart in May 1998, peaking at #15. The track spent more than two months in the chart. Despite this success her record label EMI decided to cancel the release of her follow-up single "You Got A Way" and parted company with Saleem.
In 2000, she supplied the lead vocals on Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy's cover version of Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me". "Freak Like Me" reached #12 in the UK Singles Chart. Saleem went on to record with the jazz-funk band, Incognito.
In 2006, she sang on a house track, "Bring Me Love", by the Copyright Project on Defected Records. The track received a limited release in the UK, but reached the Top 3 in the club chart.

Jade Ewen
Jade Almarie Louise Ewen (born 24 January 1988) is an English singer, songwriter, actress and member of the Sugababes. Ewen began her singing career in a girl group named Trinity Stone signed to Sony BMG in 2005, but they disbanded in 2007 with no album released. In 2009, she represented the UK at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest performing the Andrew Lloyd Webber penned "It's My Time" after winning the UK national selection. Ewen was born and brought up in Plaistow, London, to a Jamaican mother, Carol and a Scottish-Sicilian father, Trevor. Trevor is blind and partially deaf, while Carol is partially blind. Because of her parents' disabilities, Ewen is a carer to both her parents and two younger siblings, Shereen and Kiel. She received a scholarship to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. As a student at Sylvia, she appeared in The Bill, Casualty and Mr. Harvey Lights a Candle. Ewen also auditioned for and won the part of Nala in The Lion King at the West End at the age of twelve. Ewen appeared in the children's dance DVD, entitled How To Dance. She also featured briefly in the video for pop rock band Busted's "What I Go to School For".

Jamie Theakston
Jamie Theakston (born 21 December 1970 in Ditchling, East Sussex) is an English television and radio presenter, producer and actor.
Theakston was educated at two independent schools: the preparatory school of Hurstpierpoint College near the village of Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex, followed by Lancing College in the village of Lancing,[citation needed] also in West Sussex. He then attended BHASVIC in Hove, followed by the University of North London, where he studied for a degree in business studies.[citation needed] Whilst at university, he read traffic bulletins on BBC GLR as he wanted to get into sports reporting.
Before embarking on a broadcasting career, he worked for auctioneers Christies, and was going to study art history at the Courtauld Institute. After undertaking football and cricket reports for both GLR and Radio 5 Live, he was spotted by the BBC's head of sport and presented GLR's Saturday Sport Show at the age of 23. He then presented numerous shows for Radio 5 Live including Sportscall, The Jamie Theakston Cricket Show and Sport on Wednesday. Theakston joined Radio 1 in April 1999 to present the Sunday Lunch show. He fronted the 'One Big Sunday' events during 2000. He moved to a Saturday morning slot in 2002.

Janet "Jan" Ravens (born 14 May 1958) is an English actress and impressionist, famous for her voices on Spitting Image and Dead Ringers.
She grew up in Hoylake, then in Cheshire, on the west side of the Wirral with her father a local government clerk and her mother a nurse. She attended the West Kirby Grammar School for Girls. She was educated at Homerton College, Cambridge where she studied Education Studies and Drama and was the first female President of Cambridge University Footlights Club in 1979-80.
After Cambridge she became a radio comedy producer. She joined the cast of Jasper Carrott's comedy Carrott's Lib in 1983, and made her name very popular with the BBC. In 1986, she played the heavily pregnant Vanessa Plowright in the Tourists episode of Farrington of the F.O. (broadcast 13 March). In 1994, she spent a year with the RSC. She has done much voice-over work, being the Cadbury's Caramel bunny for several years, and as the seductive voice of a can of apple Tango. She has also appeared on Just A Minute on Radio 4, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Have I Got News for You, Alexei Sayle's Stuff and in Dictionary Corner on Channel 4's Countdown (one of the shows that Dead Ringers parodied). She was producer of the Radio 4 comedy Elephants to Catch Eels.

Jason Gardiner (born 6 November 1971)[citation needed] is an Australian choreographer, singer, and theatre producer best known for his former role as a caustic and controversial judge on the ITV show, Dancing On Ice. He was previously a judge on the first series of the BBC's Strictly Dance Fever. In 2006, he was also one of the judges invited to take part in Torvill and Dean's Dancing on Ice, an Australian version of Dancing on Ice, screened on the Nine Network.
Adopted at the age of 6 months, Gardiner was born in Melbourne, Australia and grew up in rural Victoria. He was bullied at school for being homosexual and suffered from anorexia for two years until he came to terms with his sexuality at the age of 16.

Javine Hylton
Javine Dionne Hylton (born 27 December 1981,London), often known simply as Javine, is an English singer. She is most notable for representing the UK at Eurovision Song Contest 2005; beating competition favourite, model Katie Price, for the ticket to Kiev. Hylton has had a number of Top 20 single hits in the UK, Javine's cover version of "You've Got a Friend" was the theme music to Garfield: The Movie in 2004.
Hylton was born to a white mother and black father and grew up in Ladbroke Grove, London. For a spell of two years, Hylton played Nala in a production of The Lion King in London's West End. In a potentially risky move, she opted to channel this experience of live singing into an audition for ITV's Popstars: The Rivals, a reality television talent show in which young hopefuls sought to be picked for a place in a new manufactured group.
Her gamble paid off as she was one of the last six contenders for a place in the girlgroup, but she missed out on a spot in what later became the chart-topping group Girls Aloud, and instead embarked on a solo singing career.

Jayne Torvill
Jayne Torvill, OBE (born 7 October 1957) is a British ice dancer. With Christopher Dean, she won a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics and a bronze medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Torvill was born in Clifton, Nottingham, England, and grew up in Nottingham, attending Clifton Hall Girls' Grammar School and worked in the city as an insurance clerk.
She became hooked on ice skating at the age of 8 following an after-school trip to the local ice rink. In 1971 at age 14 Torvill became the British National Pairs Champion with her then partner Michael Hutchenson. After parting with Hutchenson, Torvill continued to skate on her own for a while before teaming up with Dean in 1975. After placing 5th in the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York, Dean gave up his job as a policeman and Torvill gave up hers as an insurance clerk to skate together full-time.
Torvill and Dean's free program at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, performed to the music of Maurice Ravel's Boléro, became world famous. They received twelve perfect 6.0 marks, one of five occasions they were awarded all perfect scores for artistic impression. This is one of the most popular achievements in the history of British sport, watched by a British television audience of twenty four million.

Jessica Garlick
Jessica Julie Anne Garlick (born 1981, Derby, Derbyshire, England) is a Welsh pop singer.
Garlick made her first steps into showbusiness when she was 16. At that age she won the Welsh final of the TV talent show Star For A Night. The same year she also featured in Michael Barrymore's My Kind of Music. She was the highest placed British entrant at the Eurovision Song Contest of the 2000s, coming joint third in the 2002 contest.

Later in 2002 Garlick was involved in a campaign to help children stop smoking. She made a guest appearance in the 2003 Song for Europe, during which she was charged with announcing the results of the Welsh televote, which handed top marks to the ill-fated Jemini. Jimmy Savile
Sir James Wilson Vincent Savile OBE KCSG (31 October 1926 – 29 October 2011) was an English disc jockey, television presenter and media personality, best known for his BBC television show Jim'll Fix It, and for being the first and last presenter of the long-running BBC music chart show Top of the Pops. He was also known for his fundraising and support of various charities, particularly Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He was widely described as a philanthropist and was honoured for his efforts.
Savile was born in Leeds, the youngest of seven children (Mary, Marjory, Vincent, John, Joan, Christina and James) born to Agnes Monica (née Kelly) and Vincent Joseph Marie Savile, a bookmaker's clerk and insurance agent. Savile almost died of pneumonia at the age of five months.
He was a Bevin Boy, conscripted during World War II to work as a coal miner at South Kirkby Colliery, West Yorkshire, England. He suffered serious spinal injuries in a mine explosion and spent a long period in recuperation. Having started playing records in dance halls in the early 1940s, Savile claimed to be the first ever disc jockey. According to his autobiography, he was the first person to use two turntables and a microphone, at the Grand Records Ball at the Guardbridge Hotel in 1947. Savile is acknowledged as one of the pioneers of twin turntables for continuous play of music, though his claim has been disputed. (Twin turntables had been illustrated in the BBC Handbook in 1929 and were advertised for sale in Gramophone magazine in 1931.)

Jimmy Tarbuck
Jimmy Tarbuck OBE or Tarby (born 6 February 1940) is an English comedian. Growing up he was a schoolmate of John Lennon.
His first television show was It's Tarbuck 65! on ITV in 1964. He has also hosted numerous quiz shows, including Winner Takes All, Full Swing, and Tarby's Frame Game. He was the last original host of Sunday Night at the London Palladium, from 1965.
In the 1980s, he hosted similar Sunday night variety shows, Live From Her Majesty's, Live from the Piccadilly and finally Live from the Palladium, which were produced by London Weekend Television for ITV.
Nicknamed Tarby, he is a Conservative Party supporter, and at the height of his celebrity was a prominent supporter of Margaret Thatcher and her policies, once baking her a cake for her 60th birthday in October 1985.
He was appearing on the fourth series of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing in 2006, but he was forced to pull out on medical advice.
In 2008, he returned to a variety format on television screens when he co-hosted, alongside Emma Bunton, an edition of ITV1's new variety show, For One Night Only.

John Barrowman

Jonathan King (born Kenneth George King, 6 December 1944) is an English singer, songwriter, impresario and record producer. Jonathan Stephen Ross, OBE (born 17 November 1960) is an English television and radio presenter, best known for presenting the BBC One chat show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross from 2001 until he left the BBC in 2010. Ross began hosting a new chat show on ITV1 starting 3 September 2011. Ross also hosted his own radio show on BBC Radio 2, and acted as a film critic and presenter of the Film programme. For the chat show, Ross won three British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards for Best Entertainment Performance, in 2004, 2006 and 2007. By 2006 Ross was believed to be the BBC's highest paid star. In 2005, Ross was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to broadcasting. Ross has been involved in controversies throughout his broadcasting career. Jorgina Alexandra "Jorgie" Porter, (born 25 December 1987, in Trafford, Greater Manchester) is an English actress, notable for her role as Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks.
Porter grew up with her mother and grandmother and has only met her father once. She is quoted as saying: "I don't speak to my dad. I haven't missed him. Josh Dubovie
Josh James Dubovie (pronounced /dʊˈbəʊvi/; born 27 November 1990) is a British singer. Dubovie won all the heats of BBC1's 'Your Country Needs You' presented by Graham Norton. Judith "Judy" Finnigan (born 16 May 1948) is a British television presenter and columnist. She has usually co-presented with her husband, Richard Madeley, and the two are collectively known, informally, as Richard and Judy. Karen Barber (born 21 June 1961 in Manchester) is a British ice dancer.
With partner Kim Spreyer, she is the 1977 World Junior silver medalist. With partner Nicky Slater, she is the 1983 European bronze medalist. They represented Great Britain at the 1980 Winter Olympics, placing 12th, and at the 1984 Winter Olympics, where they placed 6th.

Karen Kresge
Karen Kresge (born 1957) is a British choreographer. She has choreographed many West End productions as well as "Seattle Symphony on Ice" in 1991. Katarina Witt (born 3 December 1965) is a German figure skater and model. In Germany she was commonly called "Kati" in the past, but today her full name is used more often.
She won two Olympic gold medals for East Germany, first in the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics and the second in 1988 at the Calgary Olympics. She won the World Championships four times (in 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1988), and six consecutive European Championships (1983–1988). She won silver medals at both the 1982 and 1986 World Figure Skating Championships. Her competitive record makes her one of the most successful figure skaters of all time.
Witt was born in Staaken in East Germany, just outside of West Berlin, which is today part of Berlin. Her mother worked in a hospital as a physiotherapist and her father was a farmer. She went to school in Karl-Marx-Stadt (which today has reverted to its pre-war name of Chemnitz). There she attended Kinder- und Jugendsportschule, a special school for athletically talented children. She represented the club SC Karl-Marx-Stadt for the GDR (East Germany). Jutta Müller began coaching her in 1977. Witt trained six days a week, sometimes for seven hours a day with three hours spent on compulsory figures.

Kathy Kirby (born Kathleen O'Rourke; 20 October 1938 – 19 May 2011) was an English singer who was reportedly the highest-paid female singer of her generation. She is best known for her cover version of Doris Day's "Secret Love" and for representing the United Kingdom in the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest, where she came in second place. Her physical appearance often drew comparisons with Marilyn Monroe. She peaked in popularity in the 1960s.
Kirby was born in Ilford, Essex. She was the eldest of three children of Irish parents. Her mother Eileen brought them up alone after their father left early in their childhood. Kirby grew up in Tomswood Hill, Barkingside, near Ilford and attended the Ursuline Convent School in Ilford where she sang in the choir.
Kirby's voice became apparent early in life, and she took singing lessons with a view to becoming an opera singer. She became a professional singer after meeting bandleader Bert Ambrose at the Ilford Palais in 1956. She remained with Ambrose's band for three years and he remained her manager, mentor and lover until his death on stage in Leeds in 1971.

Katy Hill (born 15 April 1971) is an English television presenter, who worked on the BBC children's magazine programme Blue Peter for five years.
Born in Poole, Dorset, her father, Chris Hill, was the local vicar and he now takes biblical tours to Israel - and will complete his 81st tour in October 2011. Hill has two siblings, an elder brother Simon and a younger sister Naomi. Kelly Michelle Lee Osbourne (born 27 October 1984) is an English media personality, television personality, host, fashion designer, singer and actress, best known for being the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Kristina Lenko
Kristina Lenko (born October 4, 1980), is a Canadian professional ice dancer. She competed internationally for Canada with Danny Moir before turning professional.
Lenko was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, on the family grain farm with her three sisters - her sister Joanna is also an ice dancer, and sisters Katherine and Sarah are also former skaters.

The result was an asymmetric Bob cut, which has been heavily copied, even by Victoria Beckham, as pointed out by Jayne Torvill on the Australian series of Dancing on Ice.

Kyran Bracken
Kyran Paul Patrick Bracken MBE (born 22 November 1974 in Dublin, Ireland) is a former English rugby union footballer who played at scrum-half for Saracens, Bristol and Waterloo R.F.C.
He won a total of 51 England caps and captained the team on three occasions, retiring from international rugby in 2004.
His father was a dentist and his mother had played hockey for Ireland. They originally lived in Skerries in north County Dublin but moved to England when Kyran was four.
He was brought up in Liverpool and was educated by the Irish Christian Brothers at St. Edward's College, and later by the Jesuits at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire, where he was coached by former England Rugby Union Head Coach, Brian Ashton. He attended a trial for Liverpool F.C. and scored three goals. He also flirted with the idea of playing rugby league for St Helens RLFC.
After school he read Law at the University of Bristol whom he represented at rugby union and later qualified as a solicitor. He was turned down by Ireland as 'not good enough' but signed up by Bristol.

Laura Hamilton
Laura Hamilton (born 24 April 1982) is a British television presenter who participated in Dancing on Ice 2011, finishing in second place.
After gaining A-Levels at Dartford Grammar School for Girls, she turned down an offer to study Law and Psychology at university, for a one-year contract at Channel 4 television as a runner making tea for Dermot O'Leary. She gained enough experience to leave and left Channel 4 after her contract ended.
She then began working as a freelance Assistant Floor Manager, in doing so, she worked on a variety of productions including Top of the Pops, The Buckingham Palace Jubilee Celebrations, The Games, T4, Party in the Park, Robbie Williams at Knebworth and Big Brother. Hamilton then went on to work as a 2nd/3rd Assistant Director on TV shows such as Family Affairs, The Bill, and films including Harry Potter and Stardust with the skills she acquired previously. Overall, she worked 'behind the camera' for 4 years in assistant roles before her first on-screen TV debut.

Leslie Bricusse (born 29 January 1931) is an English composer, lyricist, and playwright.
Although best known for his partnership with Anthony Newley, Bricusse has worked with many other composers. He was educated at University College School in London and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge University, he was Secretary of Footlights between 1952 and 1953 and Footlights President during the following year. He currently lives in California in the United States, and he is married to the actress Yvonne Romain.
Sammy Davis, Jr. had hits with two of Bricusse's songs - "What Kind of Fool Am I?" (from Stop the World - I Want to Get Off) and the #1 hit "The Candy Man" (from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory). Lindsay Dracass
Lindsay Dracass (born 1984, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England) is an English pop music singer.
Dracass was discovered at 13 years old by Alan Wood. She was directed to Alan Kirk's recording studio, and the demos she recorded were then played to Peter Van Hooke, who signed Dracass to his production company who then, in turn, signed her to a recording contract with Universal Records.
As a 15 year old schoolgirl, she was selected through the BBC Television programme, Eurovision: Your Country Needs You, to be the UK's entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001, which was held at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark. With the song "No Dream Impossible", Dracass was the sixteenth act to sing on the night (out of twenty three countries), and came fifteenth overall with 28 points - Ireland being the country to give her the most points (four). The track reached #32 in the UK Singles Chart in May that year.
Dracass later toured Europe, with Paul Carrack and his band.

Lorraine Kelly
Lorraine Kelly, OBE (born 30 November 1959, Gorbals, Glasgow) is a Scottish television presenter, journalist and actress, best known as a presenter for TV-am, and later GMTV and ITV Breakfast, on Lorraine. Previously, a reporter and main presenter of TVam's "Good Morning Britain" (1983), one of the UK's original breakfast television news programmes.
Kelly has also made appearances in other television shows. She has served as guest presenters for shows such as Have I Got News for You and This Morning, despite during this period, being the presenter of her talk show, LK Today, which ran between 1993 until 2010, when it was replaced by the re-vamped Lorraine. Kelly's father, John, worked as a television repairman. She spent the first few years of her life in Glasgow before the family moved to East Kilbride where she attended Claremont High School. She turned down a university place to read English and Russian in favour of a job on the East Kilbride News, her local newspaper, and then joined BBC Scotland as a researcher in 1983. She moved to TV-am as an on-screen reporter covering Scottish news in 1984.

Louie Spence
Louie Spence (born 6 April 1969) is an English dance expert, choreographer and television personality who is currently the artistic director at the London Pineapple Dance Studios. He was a professional dancer in his youth, performing in West End musicals such as Cats and Closer to Heaven, and has more recently become known from his appearances in the Sky1 docusoap Pineapple Dance Studios. Louisa Lytton (born 7 February 1989) is an English actress born in Camden and living in Islington. She rose to fame in 2005 when joining EastEnders as Ruby Allen. Lytton made her first appearance in EastEnders on 18 March 2005, playing Johnny Allen's daughter Ruby Allen. Weeks after winning the "Sexiest Female" award at the British Soap Awards where she cut a figure wearing a stunning thigh revealing white dress. In May 2006 it was announced that Lytton would be leaving EastEnders in November 2006. On the exit of her character, Lytton had commented: "I've really enjoyed my time at EastEnders. It has been a great experience which I will never forget but I am now looking forward to trying new things and not getting typecast."

Lucie Silvas (born Lucie Joanne Silverman, 4 September 1977, Kingston-Upon-Thames, England) is a British singer-songwriter.
Silvas was born to a Liberal Jewish family. Her father is of New Zealand descent and her mother, Isobel, is Scottish. Silvas has two sisters, Mia (who has performed backing vocals for her), and Nikki. Her parents were also big music lovers and Silvas has stated this inspired her career, besides the fact that her mother was an opera singer and wanted to pursue a career in music herself.
Silvas learned to play piano at the age of 5, and had written her first song by age 10. She relocated many times between her parents' native countries as well as England. Her family moved to Thames Ditton, Kingston-Upon-Thames, England, when she was 13. She entered a Jewish Care Young Performer competition and came third when she was 14. She attended Surbiton High School for Girls and left at 16 before going to Brooklands College, in Weybridge, Surrey.
After leaving college at the age of 18, Silvas became a backing singer for Judie Tzuke, who helped her write much of her first album, entitled Breathe In.

Luis Fonsi
Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero, more commonly known by his stage name Luis Fonsi, (born April 15, 1978 in Puerto Rico) is a Latin Grammy winning Puerto Rican singer and composer.
Born in Puerto Rico, Fonsi and his family later moved to Orlando, Florida, during Fonsi's early childhood. Around the time he was ten years old, Fonsi began to dream about becoming a member of Menudo, a Latin American boy band. While not being able to pursue that dream, he did, however, participate in many local boy bands, including one, Big Guys, where he met, and befriended, future *NSYNC member Joey Fatone.
In 1995, Fonsi enrolled at Florida State University to study music. He also joined the school's choir and sang with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
In April 2005, Fonsi had a brief return to the singing stage, when former Menudo member Ray Reyes invited him and another Puerto Rican, Adamari López, to a concert which was held at San Juan's Roberto Clemente coliseum. The press widely covered what El Vocero titled as Fonsi's moment as a Menudo, when he took the stage and joined the members of El Reencuentro to sing some of their old hits.

Lynsey de Paul (born 11 June 1950) is an English singer-songwriter. Allmusic journalist Craig Harris stated that "one of the first successful female singer-songwriters in England, de Paul has had an illustrious career".
Born Lynsey Monckton Rubin in Cricklewood, London to Meta and Herbert Rubin, a property developer. She grew up in a Jewish family in Cricklewood, North London, and attended South Hampstead High School followed by Hornsey College of Art, now part of Middlesex University.
de Paul took an unusual route to becoming the UK's first commercially successful female singer-songwriter. While attending Hornsey College of Art, and wanting to leave home, she started to design album sleeves for artists which required her to listen to the tracks. From income earned from album sleeve design, she got her first flat, where she turned to songwriting. Three of her earliest songs were co-written with Ed Adamberry and recorded by Jack Wild: "E.O.I.O." from the album A Beautiful World (and also released as a single by The Beads) plus "Takin' It Easy" and "Bring It on Back to Me" from the album Everything's Coming Up Roses.

Maria Filippov
Maria Filippov (born 20 June 1973 as Maria Hadjiiska) is a Bulgarian ice skater.
As Maria Hadjiiska, she was a member of the Bulgarian national ice dancing team from 1988 to 1992 and her country's national ice dance champion in 1990-1991. She represented Bulgaria with her partner Hristo Nikolov at the 1991 European Championships from which they withdrew, and the 1991 World Championships, where they were unable to reach the final.
In 2007 Filippov appeared on the British television programme Dancing on Ice as the partner of singer Duncan James. They came third.
In 2008 Filippov appeared on Dancing on Ice partnered by singer Gareth Gates. They were voted out in week nine (the semi-finals).
In 2009 Filippov was partnered with X Factor runner-up Ray Quinn, and in week one they were at the top of the leaderboard with 23.5 (out of a possible 30) points. In week five of the competition the couple scored 26.5 points out of a possible 30. In week six of the competition Filippov and Quinn scored 30 points, the first highest score of the series and the earliest perfect score to be awarded in any series. Filippov and Quinn were announced as the winners in the final on 22 March in which they gained a maximum score of 30 for both of their performances.

Mark Ramprakash
Mark Ravin Ramprakash (born 5 September 1969) is an English cricketer, playing for Surrey and England. A right-handed batsman, he initially made his name playing for Middlesex, and was selected for England aged 21. Despite being among the most gifted and heavily scoring English batsman of his generation at county level, he rarely performed well during a long but intermittent international career. He has been a particularly prolific run scorer since his move to Surrey in 2001, averaging over 100 runs per innings in successive seasons (2006 & 2007). He is one of only 25 players in the history of the sport to have scored 100 first-class centuries.
Mark Ramprakash was born in Bushey, Hertfordshire, and is of Indian and English descent. His father, born in the Caribbean, was an Indian from Guyana and his mother was English. He attended Gayton High School (now Harrow High School), and then Harrow Weald Sixth Form College. His first local club was Bessborough Cricket Club in Headstone Lane where he showed early promise as a fast bowler before concentrating on his batting. He played his first match for Middlesex aged just 17, scoring 63 not out against Yorkshire, and top-scoring with 71 in his second match against Essex at Chelmsford (he was still a sixth-form student at the time). He scored his maiden first-class century at Headingley against Yorkshire in 1989, and captained the England U-19 team. He came to national prominence when, at the age of only 18, he won the man-of-the match award in the 1988 NatWest Trophy Final after his innings of 56 helped Middlesex beat Worcestershire.

Mary Hopkin
Mary Hopkin (born 3 May 1950), credited on some recordings as Mary Visconti, is a Welsh folk singer best known for her 1968 UK number one single "Those Were The Days". She was one of the first musicians to sign to The Beatles' Apple label.
Hopkin was born in Pontardawe, Wales into a Welsh-speaking family; her father worked as a housing officer. She took weekly singing lessons as a child and began her musical career as a folk singer with a local group called the Selby Set and Mary. She released an EP of Welsh-language songs for a local record label called Cambrian, based in her home town, before signing to The Beatles' Apple Records. The model Twiggy saw her winning the British ITV television talent show, Opportunity Knocks and recommended her to Paul McCartney. She became one of the first artists to record on the Beatles' Apple record label.
Her debut single, "Those Were the Days", produced by McCartney, was released in the UK on 30 August 1968 (catalogue number APPLE 2). Despite competition from a well-established star, Sandie Shaw, who released her version of the same song as a single that same year, Hopkin's version became a number one hit on the UK Singles Chart, and reached Number 2 in the US Billboard Hot 100. It sold over a million and a half copies in the United States alone, and was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A.. Global sales topped the eight million mark.

Matt Dawson
Matthew James Sutherland "Matt" Dawson, MBE (born 31 October 1972) is a retired English rugby union player who played scrum half for Wasps and Northampton Saints. During his international career he toured with the British and Irish Lions three times and was part of England's 2003 Rugby World Cup winning side. He won 77 caps for his country in total, including nine as captain. He is England’s most capped scrum half.
He was best known for his trademark 'sniping runs' and played the whistle well, often scoring tries from 'tap and go' penalties. When called upon, he could also demonstrate his versatility by kicking goals.
He was educated at RGS High Wycombe and played his early club rugby with Marlow Rugby club. Dawson joined Northampton in 1991.
In 1993, Dawson was a member of the England Sevens team which won the first Sevens World Cup in Scotland alongside Andy Harriman, Adedayo Adebayo, Nick Beal, who is also an RGS old boy, Justyn Cassell, Lawrence Dallaglio, Damien Hopley, Tim Rodber, Dave Scully and Chris Sheasby. Dawson and Dallaglio are therefore the only players to have won World Cup Winners medals at both the 15 and 7 a side games.

Matt Evers
Matt Evers (born 16 March 1976) is an American pair skater, model and TV personality. He is the 1998 U.S. Junior champion.
With his partner Heather Allebach, Evers won the Junior pairs title at the 1998 U.S. Championships. The following season, they competed at three senior international events, 1998 Skate Canada International, 1998 Cup of Russia and 1998 Nebelhorn Trophy. He quit competing and moved to Los Angeles where he worked for a number of years before receiving an invitation to join Dancing on Ice. Evers is currently training as a professional actor, model and spokesperson for U.S. and European manufacturers at trade shows, in commercials and print media.

In the final, both of their performances scored the perfect 30 out of 30 which was a Dancing on Ice first and judge Nicky Slater said 'they were his champions and they deserved to win on the night'. During previous weeks the couple had received controversial comments from Nicky himself. In 2009 he partnered Zöe Salmon and they were popular with the public and judges but they were eliminated in the Skate-off against Jessica Taylor and Pavel Aubrecht. In the 5th series of Dancing on Ice, Matt's partner was Heather Mills. They were eliminated on the 5th week, losing out to Kieron Richardson. For the 6th series of the show, Matt was partnered with Denise Welch and finished in 6th place. In series 7 he is partnered with Jorgie Porter. Evers was cut on the forehead by Porter's blade in training in February 2012. He was not expected to miss a show. He and Jorgie Porter finished second place on the show.

Matt Monro
Matt Monro (1 December 1930 – 7 February 1985) was an English singer who became one of the most popular entertainers on the international music scene during the 1960s. Throughout his 30-year career, he filled cabarets, nightclubs, music halls, and stadiums in Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and Hong Kong to Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.
He was born Terence Edward Parsons in Shoreditch, London and attended Duncombe School in Islington, and Elliott School in Putney. Affectionately nicknamed "the singing bus driver" (because one of his many occupations prior to achieving fame was driving the Number 27 bus from Highgate to Teddington),[citation needed] he got his first break in 1956 when he became a featured vocalist with the BBC Show Band. An important influence on his early career was the pianist Winifred Atwell, who became his mentor, provided him with his stage name, and helped him sign with Decca Records.
In 1957 Monro released Blue and Sentimental, a collection of standards. Despite the album's critical acclaim, Monro languished among the young male singers trying to break through at the end of the 1950s, many of them emulating Frankie Vaughan by recording cover versions of American hits. (Monro even recorded a version of Vaughan's "Garden of Eden" during this period.) A short recording contract with Fontana Records followed.

Mel Giedroyc
Mel Giedroyc ( /ˈɡiːdrɔɪtʃ/ or /ˈɡjɛdrɔɪ̯t͡ɕ/; born Melanie Clare Sophie Giedroyc on 5 June 1968 in Epsom, Surrey) is an English television presenter, actress, and writer.
Giedroyc is best known for presenting comedy items alongside Sue Perkins. The two women met whilst students at Cambridge and both were members of the famous Footlights comedy club.
As Mel and Sue, the duo were short-listed for the Daily Express Best Newcomers Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1993. After a few years writing for French & Saunders, they hosted a lunchtime show on Channel 4 called Light Lunch (and the early evening version, Late Lunch). They were reunited in 2010 to host the cookery competition The Great British Bake Off, on BBC Two from 16th August 2010. The two returned for the second series on 27th September 2011.
Giedroyc has also been a presenter on Channel 4's RI:SE. She narrated Celebrity Driving School in 2003. Some other ventures include being a contestant on the 2005 series of The Games, co-starring in the 2005 BBC One sitcom Blessed and co-presenting Richard Hammond's 5 O'Clock Show on ITV1. She was in one episode of The Vicar of Dibley.

Mica Paris ( /ˈmiːʃə/ MEE-shə; born Michelle Wallen, 27 April 1969, South London) is an English soul singer, presenter on radio and television, and occasional actress.
Paris' roots are in soul and gospel music. She grew up singing in her grandparents' church and by her mid teens was making regular appearances with 'The Spirit of Watts' gospel choir (with whom she featured on the 1985 EP Gospel Joy). She abbreviated her forename to Micha, before adopting a "phonetic version". At the age of seventeen, she got her first break as a backing vocalist with the UK band Hollywood Beyond. Paris appeared on their album, If (1985).
In 1988, she released her debut, platinum-selling album So Good with 4th & Broadway when she was 19 years old. "My One Temptation" was the lead single. This led to a collaboration with American soul singer Will Downing on a cover version of a classic "Where Is the Love", made famous by Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack in the early 1970s.

Michael Terence Aspel,OBE, (born 12 January 1933) is an English television presenter on programmes such as Crackerjack, Aspel and Company, This is Your Life, Strange but True? and Antiques Roadshow.
Aspel was born in Battersea, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. During the Second World War he was evacuated and spent nearly five years in Chard, Somerset. He attended Emanuel School after passing his eleven-plus in 1944. He served as a conscript of the National Service, in the ranks of the King's Royal Rifle Corps, from 1951 to 1953.
He worked as a drainpipe-layer and gardener, and sold advertising space for Western Mail newspaper in Cardiff. According to Aspel "National Service was the catalyst that got me to Wales. Before that I was a teaboy in William Collins publishers, in London, serving tea" to famous authors. He took up a job at the David Morgan department store in Cardiff, before working as newsreader for the BBC in Cardiff in 1957. By the early sixties, he had become one of four regular newsreaders on BBC national television, along with Richard Baker, Corbet Woodall and Robert Dougall.

Michelle Stephenson (born 3 January 1977, Abingdon, Oxfordshire) is a British singer and TV presenter. At the age of 17 she was briefly a member of the English vocal girl group that would go on to become the Spice Girls . Stephenson worked briefly as a TV presenter for LWT, ITV, Friendly TV and Sky. She also filmed a TV show in Malta called "Wild Games" before forming a songwriting partnership with Ben Hackett and Mike Edwards (under the name SHEsongs). She has also worked as a session singer for various record companies. She performed backing vocals for singers like Ricky Martin and Julio Iglesias, while working on her own songs as well. Michael David Kenneth Read (born 1 March 1947, Manchester) is an English radio disc jockey, writer, journalist and television presenter.
Read is the only child of a publican, but the family moved from Manchester to Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, when he was still an infant. He attended Woking Grammar School followed by a sixth-form college. He was an estate agent for a while and recorded under various names including Mickey Manchester.
Read's professional broadcasting career began in March 1976 at Reading's Radio 210, where he co-hosted a show with Steve Wright, before joining Radio Luxembourg late in 1977.
He joined BBC Radio One at the end of 1978 and was soon presenting the night time programme before John Peel's show, where he championed new groups and featured live sessions. Bestemianova was coached by Tatiana Tarasova. In 1984 she became the Honoured Master of Sports of the USSR. She competed in ice dance with Andrei Bukin. The duo capped their lengthy career by winning the gold medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics and that year's World Figure Skating Championships. The Besti Squat was her signature move and is unofficially named for her.
In 1983, Bestemianova married Igor Bobrin. After she finished her career she performed in the Ice Miniature Theater, led by her husband.
In 2006-2008 acted as a coach and show-host in Russian version of the British show Dancing on Ice, shown on Russian RTR.

Nicholas Mark "Nicky" Slater (born 6 April 1958 in Liverpool) is a former competitive British ice dancer.
Slater attended North Cestrian Grammar School in Altrincham.
With partner Kathryn Winter, he is the 1976 World Junior Champion. Following that partnership, he teamed up with Karen Barber. They are the 1983 European bronze medalists. Nina Ulanova
Ninka Ulanova (Russian: Нина Уланова; occasionally romanised Oulanova; born 31 May 1978) is a Russian ice dancer. With former partner Michail Stifunin, she is the 1997 World Junior champion and 1998 Nebelhorn Trophy champion.
Nina Ulanova was born in 1978 and began skating in 1982. She and partner Michail Stifunin won the silver medal at the 1995 Russian Junior Championships. In 1996, they became the Russian Junior champions and the World Junior champions. They skated together until 1999, placing as high as 5th at the senior Russian Championships. For the 1999–2000 season, Ulanova teamed up with Alexander Pavlov, with whom she placed 4th at the 2000 Russian Championships.
In 2011, Ulanova appeared on series 6 of ITV's Dancing on Ice, partnered with Steven Arnold. They were voted off in episode 4. She took part in the 2011 Dancing on Ice Tour and partnered with professional skater Matt Evers. In 2012, she appeared on series 7 partnered with Matthew Wolfenden and won the series.

Patricia Bredin
Patricia Bredin (born 1934) is a British actress and one-time singer from Hull, England, who was best known as the very first United Kingdom representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. She took part in the 1957 contest, held in Frankfurt, and finished in seventh place out of ten entries with the song All, the first ever song sung in English at the Eurovision. Peter Alan Waterman OBE (born 15 January 1947) is an English record producer, occasional songwriter, radio and club DJ, television presenter, president of Coventry Bears rugby league club and a keen railway enthusiast. As a member of the Stock Aitken Waterman songwriting team he wrote and produced many hit singles. He is the owner of significant collections of both historic and commercial railway locomotives and rolling stock, a passion and expensive hobby made possible by the commercial success of the acts he signed.
Born in Stoke Heath, Coventry, Warwickshire, Waterman had left Whitley Abbey Comprehensive School (now rebuilt and called Whitley Abbey Community School) to work at a railway depot. After closure of the depot, Waterman chose to follow a career in music, being inspired by The Beatles. To supplement his income as a DJ, Waterman became a gravedigger and then an apprentice at General Electric Company, becoming a trade union official.
Building a record collection through rare US imports, his DJ work began to take him across the UK, entertaining bigger crowds with a blend of rhythm and blues and soul music tunes he had sourced. Given a residency with the Mecca Leisure Group, he developed new initiatives including matinée discos for under 18s at Coventry’s Locarno club, which gave him a valuable insight into what music interested a younger audience. Waterman noticed that the younger dancers preferred records with high beats per minutes and this influenced his later work. It was at the Locarno that Waterman first met Neville Staple, later to be a vocalist for The Specials - a band that Waterman would manage for a brief period. In early 2009, Waterman wrote the foreword to Neville's biography "Original Rude Boy", which was published by Aurum Press in May 2009.

Peter Bolesław Schmeichel MBE (Danish pronunciation: [ped̥ɐ ˈsmɑɪ̯ˀɡ̊l̩]; born 18 November 1963) is a retired Danish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and was voted the "World's Best Goalkeeper" in 1992 and 1993. He wore specially made size XXXL football shirts. Unusual for a goalkeeper, Schmeichel scored 11 goals during his career, including one for the national team. He is also the most capped player for the Denmark national team, with 129 games between 1987 and 2001. Her father Leslie coined her first name, jokingly alleging it was a combination of the names of two former girlfriends, Pet and Ulla. As a child, she sang in the chapel choir and showed a talent for mimicry, frequently impersonating Vera Lynn, Carmen Miranda and Sophie Tucker for the amusement of family and friends. Phillip Bryan Schofield (born 1 April 1962) is an English broadcaster and television personality best known for presenting shows such as This Morning, Dancing on Ice, and various game shows including The Cube and All Star Mr & Mrs.
Schofield was born in the Lancashire town of Oldham. He grew up and was educated in Newquay, Cornwall. When he was 15, his first foray into media was a Sunday show on Hospital Radio Plymouth. Richard Peebles
Richard Peebles (born 1956), working under the stage name Rikki, is a Glaswegian singer who won the BBC's A Song for Europe contest in 1987 with his own composition, "Only the light". Although he had been writing and performing with the group Marmalade,[citation needed] at the time he was picked to represent the UK, he was a mini-cab driver in Glasgow. At the Eurovision Song Contest in Brussels the song fared poorly and was placed 13th out of the 22 entries. This was the worst result for a UK entry in the history of the contest, outstripping the 11th place achieved by Co-Co which had held the record to this point. It wouldn't be until 2000 that any British song fared worse, when Nicki French placed 16th. There was further disappointment for Rikki when his single of "Only the Light" failed to reach the UK singles chart Top 75. This is one of only three occasions this has happened. But he did release an album, similarly titled, in 1987, which also failed. He has not released any material since.

Robin Cousins
Robert "Robin" Cousins (born 17 August 1957 in Bristol) is a British retired competitive figure skater. He is the 1980 Olympic Champion, the 1980 European champion, a three-time (1978, 1979 & 1980) World medalist and four-time (1977, 1978, 1979 & 1980) British national champion. From a sporting family (his father was a goalkeeper for Millwall) of Bristol, England, Robin Cousins took to figure skating very early after skating for the first time at Westover Road Ice Rink in Bournemouth. He won his first national title in 1969 at the age of twelve on the novice level. By age fourteen, he was Britain's junior champion, and he made his international debut that same year.
As a young skater, Cousins also did ice dancing at the same time as singles, his first coach being a dancer. He was later coached by Carlo Fassi. Cousins is able to spin in both directions.

Rolf Harris
Rolf Harris, CBE, AM (born 30 March 1930) is an Australian musician, singer-songwriter, composer, painter and television personality.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, Harris was a champion swimmer before studying art. He moved to England in 1952, where he started to appear on television programmes on which he drew the characters. He also began a musical career initially with the piano accordion. He wrote the famous song "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", and when performing in Canada he introduced his popular routine around his song "Jake the Peg". He often uses unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the didgeridoo, has been credited with the invention of the wobble board, a rhythmic percussion instrument, and was associated with the Stylophone, a small electronic keyboard instrument.
From the 1960s he has become a popular television personality, presenting shows including Rolf's Cartoon Club, Animal Hospital and various programmes about serious art. In late 2005 he painted an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was the subject of a special episode of Rolf on Art.

Ronnie Carroll
Ronnie Carroll (born Ronald Cleghorn, 18 August 1934, Roslyn Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a Northern Irish singer and entertainer.
Through work in variety theatre he met his first wife, Millicent Martin. He scored his first hit in 1956 with "Walk Hand in Hand" on the Philips label. Having taken part in the 1960 UK Eurovision selection contest with the song "Girl With A Curl", he returned to win the selection and be Britain's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1962, and with the song "Ring-A-Ding Girl" shared fourth place, the same placing he reached in 1963 with another British Eurovision Song Contest entry, "Say Wonderful Things". Carroll is the only singer to have represented the UK in the competition two years in succession. This success was followed by two Top 10 hits during 1962 and 1963, but a lack of good material meant that he could not sustain a chart presence.
Although somehow never quite breaking through into the very top flight of British singers, Ronnie Carroll's output on disc was well enough received.

Ruthie Henshall
Valentine Ruth Henshall (born 7 March 1967), better known as Ruthie Henshall, is an English singer, dancer, and actress best known for her work in musical theatre. Henshall attended the Laine Theatre Arts school in Epsom, Surrey before making her first professional appearance on stage in 1986. Her appearance in the 1987 production of Cats marked her West End debut.
Henshall was born in Bromley, South East London, England. Her father David was a journalist, later the editor of the East Anglian Daily Times, a Suffolk morning newspaper. Ruthie Henshall's early ambition was to be a ballet dancer, but she lacked the necessary physique. Her sister, Noel, died in 2007 of a drugs overdose while living in San Francisco, California.
Henshall dated Prince Edward "solidly" for two years, but "on and off for five years", before becoming engaged to actor John Gordon Sinclair. After she took the role of Velma Kelly in Chicago on Broadway, New York, they broke up, after which Henshall admitted going through a process of excessive drinking and considering suicide.

Sam Attwater
Samuel "Sam" Attwater (born 10 April 1986) is an English actor and singer best known for playing Leon Small in the British soap opera EastEnders and its online spin-off EastEnders: E20. He won the sixth series of Dancing on Ice in March 2011.
Attwater trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and went on to star in musicals such as Tonight's the Night, 12 Tenors, 20th Century Boy, and Our Benny. He appeared as a dancer in Bollywood film Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and featured in four episodes of Hollyoaks in 2009, playing Ricky. In January 2010 he starred in the EastEnders spin-off EastEnders: E20 as Leon Small and went on to become a regular cast member in EastEnders, but was axed in May 2010, making his last on-screen appearance on 30 September 2010.
Attwater's debut EP, Breaking Boundaries, was released on 24 January 2011.
In December 2010 it was announced that Attwater would be competing in the sixth series of Dancing on Ice in 2011. Attwater was partnered by professional figure skater Brianne Delcourt. Attwater won the series on 27 March 2011, beating Laura Hamilton in the final. He then went on to perform along side gold medal winning skaters Torvill and Dean, on the Dancing On Ice Live Tour 2011, touring around the UK performing at arenas such as the Birmingham NIA and Wembley Stadium, amazing crowds with his high skating ability.

Samantha Zoe Womack (née Janus; born 2 November 1972) is an English actress, singer and director, both on television and stage. Sandie Shaw
Sandie Shaw (born 26 February 1947) is an English pop singer, who was one of the most successful British female singers of the 1960s. In 1967 she was the first UK act to win the Eurovision Song Contest. She has been described as "the barefoot pop princess of the 1960s".
Sandra Ann Goodrich was born and brought up in Dagenham, Essex, England. On leaving school, she worked at the nearby Ford Dagenham factory, and did some part-time modelling before coming second as a singer in a local talent contest. As a prize, she appeared at a charity concert in London, where her potential was spotted by singer Adam Faith. He introduced her to his manager, Eve Taylor, who won her a contract with Pye Records in 1964 and gave her the stage name of "Sandie Shaw".
Taylor teamed Shaw with songwriter Chris Andrews, who wrote her first single, "As Long as You're Happy Baby", which failed to make the charts. However, for her second single Taylor gave her the Bacharach and David song "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me", which had been a #49 US pop hit for singer Lou Johnson. Shaw's version rose quickly to #1 in the UK Singles Chart in the autumn of 1964, and also charted in the United States at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100 early the following year. "I’d Be Far Better Off Without You" was issued as the follow-up, but DJs preferred its B-side, "Girl Don't Come", also written by Andrews, and the sides were switched. "Girl Don't Come" reached #3 in the UK and became her biggest US hit, reaching #42. It was followed by further hits in the UK including "I'll Stop at Nothing", "Long Live Love", her second UK #1 in 1965, and "Message Understood". The singles were produced by Taylor, Andrews and Shaw herself (though she was never credited), with help from Pye Records arranger Ken Woodman.[citation needed]

Simon Fuller
Simon Fuller (born 17 May 1960) is a British entrepreneur, artist manager and television producer. He is the creator of the Idol franchise, first seen as Pop Idol in the UK, which has been sold to more than 100 countries around the world. Stefan Booth
Stefan Booth (born 4 October 1979) is an English actor and singer who starred in the BBC soap opera EastEnders as Greg Jessop. He left the series in August 2011 and returned to the show for a single episode.

Suzanne Shaw (born Suzanne Crowshaw on 29 September 1981 in Bury, Greater Manchester)[citation needed] is an English actress, singer and television personality. Originally famous for winning the talent contest Popstars and subsequently being a member of the band Hear'Say, she is now an established musical theatre and West End performer, actress, model and television presenter in her own right. Shaw started ballet lessons at the age of two and by the age of three was attending the Lupino and Freelance Dance school, where she trained in all forms of dance. She joined an amateur dramatics society and did various productions, including The Sound of Music, and a West End production of Showboat at the age of nine. She was a member of an ABBA tribute band, The Right Stuff, and appeared in television roles including an Esso advertisement, Holby City, and a BBC production, Elidor. She also tried for the part of Maria Sutherland in Coronation Street, and made it to the final three along with Girls Aloud member Kimberley Walsh, but lost out to Samia Smith.

The daughter of Anna (née Santi) and Colin Frank Outhwaite, Tamzin has two younger brothers, Kes and Jake Outhwaite. On leaving school in 1987, she studied at Sylvia Young Theatre School and she joined the London Studio Centre to study drama and dance, where one of her friends was television presenter Lucy Alexander. She went on to many stage roles including Grease, Oliver! and work at the Stephen Joseph Theatre before landing bit parts in The Bill and Men Behaving Badly.
She found fame in 1998 when she was cast as Melanie Healy in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. Her first appearance was aired in October 1998 and her final one was in March 2002. During nearly four years in Walford, Outhwaite's feisty character was central to many explosive storylines. Outhwaite left EastEnders in 2002, shortly after the departure from the soap of co-star Martin Kemp, who had played her on-screen husband Steve Owen. She stated in 2006 that she wouldn't rule out returning to EastEnders.

Emma Lee Bunton (born 21 January 1976) is a British pop singer/songwriter and TV and radio presenter. She was a member of the 1990s girl group, the Spice Girls, in which she was known as Baby Spice as she was the youngest member. In 2010, she joined the judging panel on ITV's Dancing on Ice. She is also the host of Heart FM Saturday afternoon drive-time slot.
Her debut solo album A Girl Like Me was released in the United Kingdom on 16 April 2001 by Virgin Records. The album debuted and peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart. On 7 September 2001, A Girl Like Me was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry for sales in excess of 100,000 copies,[1] ultimately becoming the 147th best-selling album in the UK for 2001.[2] The album brought the UK number-one "What Took You So Long?" as well as top five hits "What I Am" (a cover of a 1988 song by Edie Brickell & New Bohemians) and "Take My Breath Away" and the top 20 hit "We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight". 1976–92: Early life and career beginnings[link]
Bunton was born in Finchley, North London, brought up as a Catholic, and grew up in Woodside Park.[3] Her parents, Pauline, a karate instructor, and Trevor, a milkman, split up when she was 11, after which she stayed with her mother. She has a younger brother, Paul James.[4] Bunton went to St. Theresa's Primary School in Finchley, then to Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone.[citation needed] She appeared briefly in the BBC series EastEnders in 1992 as a mugger.[5] In 1993, she appeared in the ITV1 police series, The Bill, and also made a brief appearance as a prostitute in the BBC drama series To Play the King. After appearing on the show she was offered a temporary role as a troubled prostitute trying to kick her drug habit, but she turned it down because she wanted to maintain a wholesome image.[citation needed] Bunton also appeared in a public information film for the British government concerning fire safety.[6]
1993–2000: Spice Girls[link]

She joined the Spice Girls (then called Touch) in 1993 after Michelle Stephenson left.[citation needed] Bunton was called Baby Spice because she was the youngest, had long blonde pigtails, wore babydoll dresses and had a girly girl personality.[citation needed]
The debut single Wannabe was the first of nine number ones in the United Kingdom for the Spice Girls, and reached the top in 37 countries.[citation needed] As a songwriter, Bunton set the shortest time to achieve six No.1 UK singles, one year and five months from Wannabe to Too Much.[citation needed] In 1999, she presented Emma on VH1. She recorded "(Hey You) Free Up Your Mind" for the film Pokémon: The First Movie.

The album was widely acclaimed by critics as being the "one of best solo Spice records ever" due to its catchy and fun use of sounds from the Motown and the 1960s era. The album was largely produced by Mike Peden and Yak Bondy, who have produced tracks for S Club 7 and Lucie Silvas, to name a few. Other contributions on the album courtesy of Cathy Dennis, Henry Binns and Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. "One Thing I Know", an unreleased track co-written by Bunton for Free Me, was recorded by another 19 Management act, S Club 8, for their album Sundown. Bunton's original vocals can clearly be heard on S Club 8's version.
The lead single, "Free Me", was released in the spring of 2003. The song immediately picked up airplay, and the single sold well in the UK, peaking at number five on the UK Singles Chart. "Maybe" was released as the second single in the autumn of 2003, and also gained extensive airplay throughout the UK, peaking at number six, one position lower than its predecessor.
In the spring of 2004, the album and its third single, "I'll Be There", were released. The single, like its two predecessors, performed well on the charts, peaking at number seven, one position below "Maybe", and two positions below "Free Me". The album sold more copies in its first week then her debut solo record had, and would ultimately go on to outsell it by 25,000 copies. With this, Bunton became the only Spice Girls member to have sold more copies of her second album than her first in UK. Later in the year, the fourth single, "Crickets Sing for Anamaria", was released. Despite its harder beat and grittier sound, by now the impact of Free Me was beginning to wear off, and the song only came in at number fifteen on the UK Singles Chart, totalling 25,000 copies, and becoming Bunton's lowest-selling single.
In the U.S., both "Free Me" and "Maybe" were dance club regulars, reaching number four and number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play respectively. In 2005, Bunton filmed guest roles in two Bollywood films: Pyaar Mein Twist and Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets.[citation needed]
[edit] 2006–08: Life in Mono and return of the Spice Girls
In October 2006, Bunton was a contestant in the BBC programme Strictly Come Dancing, partnered by Darren Bennett. She finished third place in the final.[citation needed]
In November 2006, Bunton released the charity single for the BBC Children in Need appeal, recording Petula Clark's 1960s song "Downtown". It reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and was followed by her third studio album, Life in Mono on 4 December.[citation needed] The album was originally set for a November release in the UK, however it was later pushed back to 4 December 2006. Life In Mono, much like her previous album, Free Me, experimented with elements of 1960s pop music. For this particular album the musical arrangement was more directed towards the '60s French pop music, with some elements of British '60s pop and Motown. The first single taken from the album was a cover of Petula Clark's 1964 hit single "Downtown", released on 13 November. "Downtown" is the 2006 BBC Children in Need official charity single and reached No.3 in the UK singles chart. "All I Need to Know" was released as second single.
Bunton had been working on her third release since winter 2004. The album's title track is a cover version of the hit "Life in Mono" by 1990s trip hop band Mono, best known through its usage in the 1998 film Great Expectations. The track "Take Me to Another Town" contains a sample from Herb Alpert's 1965 "Green Peppers". Due to Emma’s pregnancy all forms of promotion were cancelled after a few months. Rumours of a third single surfaced through sites after Emma stated she was thinking of releasing a third single, however this never came. The songs I Wasn’t Looking (When I Found Love), Perfect Strangers and Take Me To Another Town were rumoured.
Although it sold almost 13,000 copies in its first week, the album was Emma's first not to reach the UK Top 10. It debuted on the UK Albums Chart at No.65 on 10 December 2006 falling to No.75 in its second week and dropped out of the chart the following week. On the whole, the album sold around 60,000 copies in the UK. The album entered the UK Albums Chart at 65, selling 13,000 copies in its first week.[citation needed] The second single from it was "All I Need to Know", on 12 February 2007, intended for Valentine's Day. Bunton shot the video around Old Street in East London, in the week before Christmas 2006.[8] Entering the UK Singles Chart at 60, "All I Need to Know" became the lowest-charting single of Bunton's solo career.[citation needed]
Bunton has been seen in a television commercial for the supermarket chain Tesco. She also had a cameo role on the Australian soap opera Neighbours on the episode titled "What's a Spice Girl Like You...?", aired on 19 March 2007 in Australia, and on 25 May 2007 in the UK.[citation needed] Bunton returned to US screens with a nationwide commercial for Prego in May 2007.[citation needed]
In July 2008, Bunton stood in as co-presenter alongside Richard Madeley on the UK television show Richard & Judy while Judy Finnigan was recovering from a knee operation. In October 2008, Bunton appeared on the UK series of The X Factor to assist judge Dannii Minogue in choosing the three best over-25s acts to take to the live X Factor finals. In December 2008, Bunton debuted as a member of the panel on Loose Women on ITV.[citation needed]
2009–present: Television and radio work[link]
In February, and again between May and June 2009, she starred as guest presenter on Heart London's Heart Breakfast alongside Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott.[9] Bunton began hosting her own pre-recorded Saturday drive time [10] radio show on Heart in the Saturday afternoon slot 4pm – 7pm starting on Saturday 13 June 2009.[11]
In January 2010, Emma joined the "Ice Panel" on ITV dancing show Dancing on Ice replacing former judge Ruthie Henshall. She stepped down from this role on 2 December 2011 in order to pursue new projects.[citation needed] In February 2010, Bunton appeared in a UK National Television campaign first aired during Coronation Street,[12] showing her in the Heart Radio studios at the start and the end of the advert. In summer 2010, she presented the Five program Don't Stop Believing.
In August 2010 she guest presented GMTV with Lorraine on GMTV. On 8 October 2010,[13] 19 November 2010 and 7 January 2011,[14] she guest presented Lorraine on ITV Breakfast. Bunton is providing maternity leave cover for Heart Breakfast co-presenter Harriet Scott from 3 October until 23 December 2011 on Heart London.[15] On January 2012, Bunton reprised her role as one of fictional PR manager Edina Monsoon's disgruntled clients in a revival of the BBC's Absolutely Fabulous.

Bunton's long-term partner since 2000 is former Damage and CherryBlackStone lead singer Jade Jones. Bunton – after being proposed to on 21 January 2011, the day of her 35th birthday – announced her engagement to Jones during an episode of Dancing on Ice on 23 January 2011.[16] The couple have two sons: Beau Lee Jones born on 10 August 2007 at the Portland Hospital in London,[17] and Tate Lee Jones born on 6 May 2011.[18]
