A presenter, or host (sometimes hostess, in feminine form), is a person or organization responsible for running an event. A museum or university, for example, may be the presenter or host of an exhibit. Likewise, a master of ceremonies (also MC, emcee, or host) is a person that hosts or presents a show.^[1] In films, a presenter (but not a host) is a usually well-known executive producer credited with introducing a film or filmmaker to a larger audience. In broadcast media, especially British, a presenter is the person who hosts, narrates, presents, or takes the main role in the program.

A television presenter is a person who introduces or hosts television programmes. Nowadays it is common for minor celebrities in other fields to take on this role, but there are also a number of people who have made their name solely within the field of presenting, particularly within children's television series to become a television personality.

Some presenters may double as an actor, model, singer, comedian etc. Others may be subject matter experts, such as scientists or politicians, serving as presenters for a programme about their field of expertise (for instance, David Attenborough). Some are celebrities who have made their name in one area, then leverage their fame to get involved in other areas. Examples of this latter group include British comedian Michael Palin who now presents programmes about travel (such as Around the World in 80 Days), and Alan Alda, who has presented Scientific American Frontiers for over a decade.

The term is also used in other countries, such as Ireland. In the USA, such a person is typically called a host or an MC (Master of Ceremonies). There are many most popular television personalities in Nepal. For example: Bikash Thapa Chhetri, Bijay Kumar Pandey and Bhusan Dahal are the most popular.

Broadly speaking, a radio presenter (often radio personality) is the same as a television presenter, except that they present radio programs instead of television programs. Big name presenters include Scott Mills, Tony Blackburn, Dale Winton, Steve Wright, Chris Moyles, Howard Stern, and Hamish and Andy.

Stuart Cosgrove (born 12 November 1952) is a Scottish journalist, broadcaster and television executive. As a journalist Cosgrove served on the NME (Media Editor) and The Face during the 1980s, before joining Channel 4 in April 1994, serving for eight years as Controller of Arts and Entertainment and currently as Head of Programmes (Nations and Regions).

Cosgrove graduated in Drama and English from the University of Hull and has studied at George Mason University, Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Wharton Business School. He has a Ph.D. in Media (the thesis published as part of the book Theatres of the Left, 1880-1935) and a Doctorate in English and American Studies. He has been awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts by the University of Abertay Dundee and honorary professorships by the University of Stirling and Liverpool John Moores University.^[1][2][3][4]

In Scotland, Cosgrove is probably best known as the co-host of BBC Radio Scotland's popular comedy football phone-in Off The Ball which he presents twice a week with Tam Cowan, and as the co-host of BBC Scotland's Saturday football results show Sportscene Results. Born and brought up in Perth, he is an avid fan of the town's football club St Johnstone. He also wrote a book, Hampden Babylon, revealing the seedier side of the Scottish football scene.

In 2007 and 2008 he presented "Stuart Cosgrove's Floorfillers" on BBC Radio Scotland, dedicated to Northern and Rare Soul music, of which he is a fan.

His "Haha, Fantastic, ye cannae beat it" quote is used by satirist and impressionist Jonathan Watson.

Fiona Kennedy is a Scottish singer, actress and broadcaster, and the daughter of Scottish and Gaelic singers Calum Kennedy and Anne Gillies. As a child she appeared with her parents as they performed as a family, and this developed into a successful solo career.

Kennedy has moved on to other areas of entertainment, including film and theatre acting and TV and radio broadcasting. Her TV appearances include the 1971 series The Witch's Daughter, Sutherland's Law and Mauro the Gypsy, Sunday Special for Grampian TV in 1979/80, four series of Record Breakers on BBC1 and the New Year Show with Sir Trevor MacDonald. She also presented Behind the Scenes at Monarch of the Glen. She has also appeared on BBC TV's Songs of Praise as a singer.^[1]

She had a role in the 1973 film The Wicker Man where she played Holly.^[2]

Kennedy now presents television programmes about Scotland, Scottish life and history for American and Canadian consumption. Her daughter Sophie Kennedy Clark is a model and actress.^[3]

Suzi Perry (born 3 May 1970) is an English television presenter, best known for covering MotoGP for the BBC for 13 years and The Gadget Show until 2011.

Early life[link]

Suzi Perry is a British television presenter and model. She was born in an RAF hospital in Cosford, Shropshire, England; the daughter of a music promoter – her godfather was guitarist Mel Galley.^[1] Raised in Finchfield,^[1] she attended Smestow school in Wolverhampton, and had a school job as a lighting technician at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.^[1] She went on to study business studies and finance at Wolverhampton Polytechnic^[2] (now the University of Wolverhampton).

After college she had a break in modelling and spent 15 months in Japan and 18 months in London.

Perry's television career is most known for 15 years spent as a presenter for BBC coverage of MotoGP motorcycle racing. She was a co-host of The Gadget Show until 2011.

Perry is now known as a motor sports correspondent, reporting on motorcycle racing for BBC News and also appears in other sports-related programmes, including Wimbledon, The Boat Race, The London Marathon, Royal Ascot and The Great North Run.

She also helped to present the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Perry presented coverage of MotoGP for BBC Sport, although in February 2010, she announced that she was stepping down from Moto GP coverage due to the other commitments and the excessive travelling involved.^{[citation needed]}

She was also part of the BBC presenting team at the 2010 Epsom Derby^[3] and Royal Ascot^[4] and was due to be part of the 2011 Grand National presenting team but was replaced at the last moment by Dan Walker who happened to be at Aintree presenting Football Focus on the same day. No explanation was offered by the BBC as to the need for the change.

Perry appeared on the 2002-03 revival of Treasure Hunt, where she took the 'skyrunner' role made famous by Anneka Rice.

Since 2004 she had been a co-presenter for Channel 5's The Gadget Show, a hi-tech weekly programme, alongside Jason Bradbury, Jon Bentley, Ortis Deley and Pollyanna Woodward. She was temporarily replaced by Gail Porter whilst she recovered from an ectopic pregnancy, and returned to The Gadget Show in August 2009. She also created the current theme music for the Gadget Show in 2011 as part of a Gadget Show challenge. In February 2012 it was announced that the show's format was changing, it is now known as The Gadget Show: World Tour and features only two of the previous presenting team Jason Bradbury and Pollyanna Woodward. ^[5]

On 15 May 2008, she appeared on Through the Keyhole on BBC Two, allowing Lisa Snowdon to look around her property before being identified by the panel. In 2010 she appeared on ITV's All Star Mr and Mrs with husband Bastien.^[6]

Her other shows include Housecall, Superstars, City Hospital, How to take Stunning Pictures and Holiday.

She was a panelist on Channel 5 magazine show The Wright Stuff, alongside comedian Lee Hurst, for the week of 19th March - 23rd March 2012.

Perry was married to Steve Bullock, a model from Sheffield, for four years.^[1] On 6 August 2009 Perry married her Dutch boyfriend, Bastien Boosten (whom she met whilst filming The Gadget Show). Perry was the first celebrity bride to post her wedding pictures on Twitter.^[7] Perry had an Elvis impersonator conducting the 30 minute ceremony. The pair appeared together on All Star Mr and Mrs in 2010.^[6] She currently lives in the South of France and has a home in Birmingham used for when she is filming.^[1][8]

In February 2009, Perry suffered a ruptured ectopic pregnancy two and a half months into her pregnancy. She was taken to West Middlesex Hospital from a London film studio, where after losing four pints of blood she underwent surgery.^[1][9]

She is a supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers.^[1]

In 2006 Perry appeared as a celebrity showjumper in the BBC's Sport Relief event Only Fools on Horses. On 12 July, after being voted off the show, she revealed that she had fallen off her horse a total of 12 times.^[10][11]

Perry is a patron of Promise Dreams, a charity based in her home town of Wolverhampton that was launched in 2001. Promise Dreams raise money for children who are seriously or terminally ill and provide treatment, help and support for both them and their families.^[12] Perry is also a patron of the National Association for Bikers with a Disability.^[13]

Alex Dolan is a journalist, weather presenter and science teacher who went undercover for six months in British schools as a supply teacher for the filming of a Channel 4 documentary, Undercover Teacher, exposing the poor behaviour of children in some areas of the education system. She secretly filmed her classes for the Channel 4 documentary.^[1]

She was suspended from teaching for one year by the General Teaching Council because she 'breached student trust'.^[2] and the decision has received criticism from both teachers and commentators.^[3]

More recently, Dolan has been employed as a presenter on Sky's Ocean TV programme Ocean Rescue .^[4] She is now presenting lunchtime weather and evening forecasts for BBC Look East.
