2300 Jackson Street is the eighteenth and final studio album by American Pop/R&B group The Jacksons, and their final album for record label Epic, released in the United States on May 28, 1989 (see 1989 in music). This is the group's first album without lead singer Michael Jackson, who had left the group along with older brother, Marlon Jackson. Their final album debuted at #59 on the Billboard 200 and at #14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and would sell over half a million copies worldwide.
For most of this album, The Jacksons consisted of Jermaine, Jackie, Randy, and Tito Jackson. Despite having left the group after the Victory Tour, Michael Jackson and Marlon Jackson made appearances on 2300 Jackson Street. Rebbie and Janet also sang on the title track; middle sister La Toya was, at the time of this album, estranged from the family and did not appear on the song.
The Jacksons decided to enter new territory by working with new jack swing producers Teddy Riley and Gene Griffin on "She" and the title track (first collaboration with Michael, before the album Dangerous) and the team Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds on the single "Nothin' (That Compares 2 U)". The Jacksons co-produced four tracks with Attala Zane Giles, three songs were produced by Michael Omartian (one co-produced by The Jacksons), while "Maria" was produced by Jermaine Jackson. It features the harmonica solo by Lee Oskar from War.
The Jackson 5 or Jackson Five; later known as The Jacksons is an American popular music family group from Gary, Indiana. Formed in 1964 under the name the Jackson Brothers, the founding members were Jackie, Tito and Jermaine. Marlon and Michael would later join, and the band's name would be changed to The Jackson 5. After participating in talent shows and the chitlin' circuit, they entered the professional music scene in 1967 as The Jackson Five, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing two singles. In 1969, they left Steeltown Records in order to sign with Motown.
The Jackson 5 is one of the first groups of black American performers to attain a crossover following, preceded by the Supremes, the Four Tops and the Temptations. Scoring 17 top forty singles on the Hot 100, after continuing with further hits such as "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Dancing Machine", most of the group with the exception of Jermaine, left Motown for Epic Records in 1975, where, with brother Randy taking Jermaine's place, they released five albums between 1976 and 1981, including the hit albums, Destiny (1978) and Triumph (1980) and the hit singles, "Enjoy Yourself", "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" and "Can You Feel It." In 1983, Jermaine reunited with the band to perform on Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever and subsequently released the Victory album the following year. After the end of their tour to promote the album, Michael Jackson and Marlon Jackson promptly left the group. The remaining four released the poorly received 2300 Jackson Street album in 1989 before being dropped from their label.

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor. Called the King of Pop, his contributions to music and dance, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades.
The eighth child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his elder brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon as a member of the Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971. In the early 1980s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including those of "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller" from his 1982 album Thriller, were credited with breaking down racial barriers and with transforming the medium into an art form and promotional tool. The popularity of these videos helped to bring the then-relatively-new television channel MTV to fame. His 1987 album Bad spawned the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror", and "Dirty Diana", becoming the first album to have five number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. With videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream", he continued to innovate the medium throughout the 1990s, as well as forging a reputation as a touring solo artist. Through stage and video performances, Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. His distinctive sound and style has influenced numerous artists of various music genres.

A great song by most of the jackson family.
2300 Jackson Street this is where it all started.. from Gary, Indiana You said to me softly...slowly... "For me, this place has a special significance in my life's most important memories are all here...If in my lifetime, have success and achievements... all the reasons and grounds are derived from here...So,...... I often come back here....linger linger in here...." I also want to tell you... You know, I've been thinking; with all the negativity and stories surrounding the Jackson Family...I thought about 2300 Jackson Street -- a video of the Jackson Family in happier times... Just like with all families, there's the good times and the not-so good times, you know what I'm sayin... We Are One, I know you feel the idea of family... Didn't stop you from being a family, right? Take a trip do...
