KOREAN WAR-Battle of Aerok Hill 韓國戰爭
The Korean War (Korean: 한국전쟁 or 조선전쟁, Hanja: 韓國戰爭 or 朝鮮戰爭; 25 June 1950 -- 27 July 1953)was a war between the Republic of Korea (South Korea) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). It was primarily the result of the political division of Korea by an agreement of the victorious Allies at the conclusion of the Pacific War at the end of World War II. The Korean Peninsula was ruled by the Empire of Japan from 1910 until the end of World War II. Following the surrender of the Empire of Japan in September 1945, American administrators divided the peninsula along the 38th parallel, with US military forces occupying the southern half and Soviet military forces occupying the northern half.[15] The failure to hold free elections throughout the Korean Peninsula in 1948 deepened the division between the two sides; the North established a communist government, while the South established a nominally democratic government. The 38th parallel increasingly became a political border between the two Korean states. Although reunification negotiations continued in the months preceding the war, tension intensified. Cross-border skirmishes and raids at the 38th Parallel persisted. The situation escalated into open warfare when North Korean forces invaded South Korea on 25 June 1950. It was the first significant armed conflict of the Cold War. In 1950, the Soviet Union boycotted the United Nations security council, in protest at representation of China by ...

DJ Soulscape - The Sound of Seoul in New York
The postwar Korean peninsula was a melting pot for both Eastern and Western cultures. This interaction led the music business to grow significantly as clubs were founded around the U.S. military bases. Many musicians who played for the clubs had interpreted and localized rock, jazz, soul and boogaloo in various styles. However, such unique music was suppressed and vanished due to the political interest of the military regime in the mid ‘70s. Today, the music that once thrived during those periods remains discontinued and forgotten.
DJ Soulscape, a critically acclaimed musician and an avid vinyl collector, has spearheaded a project to uncover the lost archives of Korea’s musical past. The Sound of Seoul and More Sound of Seoul compilations were conceived to revisit lost Korean music of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
With the success of this series in Korea, Essentic in partnership with DJ Soulscape, have decided to coordinate several functions to introduce such unique vintage sound in conjunction to Soulscape's recent trip to New York City.

KBS Weather Graphics
We have carried out a project to improve the weather forecast graphics with the KBS news graphic division in 2011.
Based on preliminary study, we discovered that there was no single system on weather graphic designs of the news channels including the programs of the open air broadcasters. We decided on the style of icons and established a set of rule to design the information pages.
Accuracy is the key of weather reporting programs. We decided to show accuracy even from the design of a map. We checked the GPS information for the coastal lines of the Korean Peninsula and locations of major world cities and matched them with 3D data by forming a special team.

Korean Peninsula Relationship At All-Time Low
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com As North Korea's ruler Kim Jong-il's funeral ends, Pyongyang sends a strong New Year message to South Korea. North Korea will "never [have] contact with South Korea, Lee Myung-bak's government". They also threatened South Korea with revenge for "restrictions on private condolences to Kim Jong-il". South Korean Leader Lee Myung-bak stated that the Korean Peninsula's situation has crossed a turning point. He also stated that it presents a new opportunity. Lee Myung-bak gave a speech on Jan.2 saying his main goal is maintaining peace and stability across the Korea Peninsula. South Korea still opens the window widely towards North Korea. Lee Myung-bak said he hoped this year he can breakthrough the North Korean nuclear issue. As long as they stop all nuclear activity, there will be a hope of restarting six-party talks. Lee Myung-bak warned that if North Korea makes a challenge, South Korea will react with a strong response. North Korea state media sent a message, reinforcing leadership of only Kim Jong-un. It also stated that the army vows to defend Kim Jong-un "to the death". The message also stated US troops should be removed from South Korea, emphasising the issue of food shortages. The New Year message in 2011 had a soft tone of "dialogue and cooperation", but this year it had the opposite tone. It blamed South Korea for fighting with them and preventing it's people mourning Kim Jong-il. Pyongyang ...

Riz Khan - Korean Peninsula crisis
A four-day joint military exercise between the US and South Korea barely a few hundred kilometers from the North Korean coastline is adding to ongoing tensions in the region. Kim Jong-il's government has called the war games "serious provocation" and is threatening to retaliate. Could the latest developments trigger another armed confrontation between the two Koreas and how is the latest crisis affecting ties between their two allies - the US and China?
