Hanging Gardens of Babylon (Ancient Iraq)
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were considered to be one of the the greatest Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one of the Wonders which may in fact have been legendary. They were purportedly built in the ancient city-state of Babylon, near present-day Al Hillah, Babil, in Iraq. They are sometimes called the Hanging Gardens of Semiramis (in reference to the legendary Queen Semiramis). The gardens were supposedly built by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II around 601 BC. He is reported to have constructed the gardens to please his homesick wife, Amytis of Media, who longed for the trees and fragrant plants of her homeland. The gardens were said to have been destroyed by several earthquakes after the 2nd century BC.

The Babylon Mystery Part 1
Babylon [from the Akkadian bāb-ilû, meaning "Gateway of God"] was a city of ancient Mesopotamia, the ruins of which can be found in present-day Al Hillah, Babil Province, Iraq, about 85 kilometers (55 mi) south of Baghdad, in the fertile Mesopotamian plain between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The earliest source to mention Babylon may be a dated tablet of the reign of Sargon of Akkad (ca. 24th century BC short chronology). The so-called "Weidner Chronicle" states that it was Sargon himself who built Babylon "in front of Akkad" (ABC 19:51). The Eastern Canaan Amorites conquered and settled in Babylon, making it their capital in 1959 BC. From there, the old Babylonian Kingdom was born. The Kingdom then expanded into a mighty Mesopotamian Empire under the rule of its famous king: Hammurabi, sometime in the 18th century BC. At that time, Babylon flourished and became the cultural and economical capital of the entire Fertile Crescent. It also became the seat of the renown Code of Hammurabi, the first code of law in Human History. It was the "holy city" of Babylonia approximately 2300 BC, and the seat of the Neo-Babylonian Empire from 612 BC. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It has been estimated that Babylon was the largest city in the world from ca. 1770 to 1670 BC, and again between ca. 612 and 320 BC. It was perhaps the first city to reach a population above 200000. It is recorded that Babylon's legal system developed a ...

I absolutely fucking love this tune! The bass, the vocals, but most of all the drums half way through when it drops. The ways its sliced and done perfectly with the bass. I remember the first time i heard this on Origin Fm, i was recording it and they played "Rude & Deadly - Mash Dem Down" then this, and then i was listening to it over & over & i fucking love it. Only found out the name of it when i got it the other day, i was listening to all the name records that came into the i work at and as soon as i put the needle on it my stomac dropped, i never thought id find it. Fuckin love it soooooooooooooooooooo much!!!

Ancient Babylon
RE-UPLOADED AFTER ACCOUNT DELETION My video of ancient Babylon. Babylon was a city-state of ancient Mesopotamia, sometimes considered an empire, the remains of which can be found in present-day Al Hillah, Babil Province, Iraq, about 85 kilometers (55 mi) south of Baghdad. All that remains today of the ancient famed city of Babylon is a mound, or tell, of broken mud-brick buildings and debris in the fertile Mesopotamian plain between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, in Iraq. Historical resources inform us that Babylon was at first a small town, that had sprung up by the beginning of the third millennium BC (the dawn of the dynasties). The town flourished and attained prominence and political repute with the rise of the first Babylonian dynasty. It was the "holy city" of Babylonia by approximately 2300 BC, and the seat of the Neo-Babylonian Empire from 612 BC. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The form Babylon is the Greek variant of Akkadian Babilu (bab-ilû, meaning "Gateway of the god(s)", translating Sumerian Ka.dingir.ra). In the Hebrew Bible, the name appears as ??? (Babel), interpreted by Book of Genesis 11:9 to mean "confusion" (of languages), from the verb balbal, "to confuse".

David Gray - Babylon
Lyrics: Friday night I'm going nowhere All the lights are changing green to red Turning over TV stations Situations running through my head Looking back through time You know it's clear that I've been blind I've been a fool To open up my heart To all that jealousy, that bitterness, that ridicule Saturday I'm running wild And all the lights are changing red to green Moving through the crowd I'm pushing Chemicals all rushing in my bloodstream Only wish that you were here You know I'm seeing it so clear I've been afraid To show you how I really feel Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made If you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now Babylon, Babylon Sunday all the lights of London Shining , Sky is fading red to blue I'm kicking through the Autumn leaves And wondering where it is you might be going to Turning back for home You know I'm feeling so alone I can't believe Climbing on the stair I turn around to see you smiling there In front of me If you want it Come and get it Crying out loud The love that I was Giving you was Never in doubt Let go your heart Let go your head And feel it now

The Bags-Babylonian Gorgon
The Bags were one of the first generation of punk rock bands to emerge out of Los Angeles. The Bags was formed by Alice Armandariz and Pat Morrison, who had met at an audition for Venus and the Razorblades, Kim Fowley's next attempt at creating a band after The Runaways had left him. Alice and Pat decided to form their own band and from this The Bags were born. They took the band's name and their stage names "Alice Bag" and "Pat Bag" from a gimmick that the band used during early performances where they would perform with grocery bags over their heads (the practice didn't last, in part due to an incident where Darby Crash of The Germs ran up on stage and ripped the bag off of Alice's head). Alice Bag was the vocalist and Pat Bag played bass. The band was rounded out by guitar players Craig Lee and Rob Ritter, and Terry Graham played drums. The Bags played their first show at The Masque on September 10, 1977. The band's live shows soon became legendary. The concerts were riotous affairs including altercations with celebrities, such as one between singer Tom Waits and drummer Nicky Beat at The Troubadour. By 1979, they had released their first record, a single called "Survive", backed with "Babylonian Gorgon", released by independent record label Dangerhouse Records. "We Don't Need The English" was included on the Yes LA punk compilation released by the same label. After this, Pat left the band. In 1980 the group, minus Pat, was filmed by Penelope Spheeris for the seminal ...

And bleed, red as blood- Red as when. She's my Babylon. No I don't want to see you go. No I don't want to be alone. So rest your hand - you're all mine. I can't stay awake, my eyes fall down. REdrama - Babylon
Album: Everyday Soundtrack (2003) Very tight track from the Finnish rapper REdrama. Big up's to all the graffers, bombers and writers in these pictures again. Lyrics: Everyday it be getting more weird Babylon trying to interfere Open your eyes and open your ears And y´all see what I mean I swear Living in Babylonian times / my rap flowing like rhymes / Spitting it ´til the day these Babylonians die/ There´sa blast blowing inside my head / filling me with dread / Got me thinking that I´m already dead / now my head´s heavy like lead / but then I wake up / It was all a dream, it wasn´t real like make up / I escape up away from this world of fake fucks / Meditating, maintaining my mental shape ups / I stay puffed / tired of being late for the bus / Now I´m savage hungry and got a taste for luck / I´m slaved and chained up / on the wall of a system that hates us who love but love those who make bucks / This wasn´t the plan according to the Creator / Traitors built their world on pillars of fake trust / but now as the race is paced up/ I turn my face up and head forwards for a fate that´s greater. Everyday it be getting more weird Babylon trying to interfere Open your eyes and open your ears And y´all see what I mean I swear Everyday it´s like I feel them testing me / Nevertheless they never be getting the best of me / Messing with me / Making me think and act hectically / They on a quest you see / always stressing me/ No rest for me / Oppressing me / Tempting me / like pills ...

Civilization 2.6 - Babylonian Math
www.drdavidneiman.com. Part 6 of "Cradles of Civilization Lecture 2". Dr. Neiman reviews Babylonian advances in astronomy and mathematics. He also credits the Babylonians with devising some of civilization's most basic concepts: dividing the circle into 360 degrees, the day into 24 hours and the hour into 60 minutes. Dr.David Neiman (1921-2004) was an internationally renowned scholar, speaker, and writer who inspired many people. His life's work concerned the intricate relations between Christianity, Islam, and Judaism throughout history and in modern times. Dr. Neiman made history come alive through his dramatic presentations and unique interpretations. In light of our current world situation, Dr. Neiman's work is not only extremely relevant but also remarkably prescient. More than anything, Dr. Neiman was a keen observer of the human condition. His words convey our shared history with clarity, humor, and humanity. Dr. Neiman was the first Jewish scholar appointed to teach Religion at Boston College, one of America's leading Catholic Universities. He served as Professor in the Department of Theology for a quarter of a century. While there he was also invited to teach at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. After retiring from Boston College, Dr.Neiman moved to Los Angeles, where he taught at Loyola Marymount University, St. John' s Seminary in Camarillo and the University of Judaism in Bel Air. Ancient Babylonian Music Played on Replica 3000 Year Old Lyre!
A clip from my new album, "The Ancient Biblical Lyre". This ancient wedding song of the Babylonian Jews in Israel was carefully collected and transcribed almost a century ago by the musicologist AZ Idelsohn. It is played here on a replica of the ancient Biblical "Nevel" Lyre - one of the lyres once played by the Levites in the Temple of Jerusalem to accompany the singing of the Levitical Choir... The translation of the song is: "I will sing songs to God at the coming of the redeemer. This terrified, innocent,& fair daughter - hurry to redeem her now.Elijah will come & she will be redeemed" The traditional music of the Babylonian Jews is unique, as it may well be the "Invisible Baggage" of the Jews who were sent into exile there, after the destruction of the First Temple of Jerusalem by King Nebuchadrezzar II, in 586BC! These melodies therefore, MAY be representative of the very earliest aural memory of Jewish music, EVER...from the almost Legendary Era of the Ark of the Covenant, & King Solomon's Temple! Babylonian Talmud
www.vho.org THE JEWISH RELIGION Its Influence Today. What is Talmud? The Talmud is composed in a mixture of Hebrew and Aramaic (the latter was the spoken vernacular of Babylonian Jews). In general, formal statements by the Amora'im are formulated in Hebrew, whereas the explanations and discussions of those statements are worded in Aramaic. The first part of a Talmudic passage is the Mishna. The beginning of a Gemara passage, following the Mishna passage to which it is attached, is designated by an abbreviated form of the word printed in large bold letters. www.sacred-texts.com
