Glory: Best Comic You're Not Reading Yet.
CBG19 reviews and rants about one of her favorite new comic series, Glory. Glory (2012) originally was a character from image comics last seen in regular publication in 1998. The new Glory picks up 14 years later with a radical departure from her original character. "Glory is a fictional character originally from Image Comics, and later on from the Awesome Comics comic book series created by Rob Liefeld. In 2011 it was announced that Joe Keatinge would be the writer for a relaunched Glory ongoing series with artist Ross Campbell. The series was not renumbered and begins at issue #23. Glory's history is retooled, establishing the Amazons and Demons as aliens. Glory was also redesigned to be more muscular and covered in battle scars." - Winkipedia The New Glory (2012) comic is reviewed. THE WALKING DEAD "Opening Titles"
For more information, visit www.exmortisfilms.com.
"Making of" now available at http://www.artofthetitle.com/2010/10/29/the-walking-dead/
"We are arriving at that unique moment in time where the
term "fan-made" becomes moot. This is extraordinary."
- Damon Lindelof, Executive Producer, LOST
"Kudos to Daniel Kanemoto for his terrific fan version of
THE WALKING DEAD opening titles -- they rock big time!"
- Gale Anne Hurd, Producer, THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, THE ABYSS, THE WALKING DEAD
My favorite "exclusive" from this year's Comic-Con was a beautiful painting by legendary artist Drew Struzan, featuring a horde of zombies from THE WALKING DEAD. Frank Darabont is adapting the apocalyptic Image Comics book created by Robert Kirkman, and man, it looks really, really great.
As I was admiring Struzan's work of art, I wondered what the opening titles to this terrifying new television show might look like... so I animated a spec title sequence using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.
Just so there's no confusion, I'm not affiliated with the production in any way -- I'm simply a huge fan of both Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman, and this is my attempt at creating a cinematic introduction to one of the all time great "continuing stories of survival horror."
THE WALKING DEAD premieres on October 31st on AMC.

Animated by Daniel M. Kanemoto
"The Walking Dead" Artwork by Charlie Adlard & Tony Moore

Diego Stocco - Bassoforte
Few days ago I started thinking about how I could re-purpose the keyboard of the dismantled piano I keep in the garden, so I thought to build a new instrument by combining it with some other parts I had laying around. I ended up with this mechanical hybrid thing I thought to call "Bassoforte" (bass + pianoforte).
The neck is from a broken electric bass, as a bridge I used a cabinet handle, the pickups are from a guitar, and the part at the top where the strings are attached is a chimney cap, which works as resonator as well as percussive sound.
The track I created is a tribute to my Dad who is a big fan of Western comic books and "spaghetti western" films, and because of him I am too.
I hope you'll like it!
The track is available also at my Bandcamp page: http://diegostocco.bandcamp.com/track/bassoforte
Here you can see a gallery with pictures and more detailed descriptions: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Bassoforte/535175
UPDATE 2/20/11 If you're curious to know more about the instrument in the background, you can watch this video I just made: http://vimeo.com/20157158

I'm Comic Sans, Asshole
A short monologue from the perspective of the typeface comic sans.
By Joe Hollier
www.joehollier.com
The original monologue was written by Mike Lacher
http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/monologues/15comicsans.html
The voice of Comic Sans was Stephan Pacuk.
Music used was
Beirut - A call to arms
Bee Gees - Saturday Night Fever
Children of Bodom - Downfall
The Books - Thankyoubranch
This was a class assignment for Paul Sahre's Typography class at SVA.

***For the record, I actually hate comic sans, Paul Sahre had asked us to write down our least favorite typeface, and then we had to make an animation about that typeface.
