Short video of red kites feeding at Gigrin Farm. It's a pretty spectacular display to see these birds up so close, well worth driving there to see it. More information can be found at gigrin.co.uk

Bellringing at Welshpool, Powys.
Skip the first 40 seconds to get to the start of the ringing. Outside of England full-circle change ringing is far less popular, with most churches in the rest of the world having bells hung for other styles of ringing or no bells at all. Wales is something of an exception, due to its location next to England and the fact that large parts of it have, over time, become greatly influenced by the English (There is scope here for a full history lesson, but I'll stop!) The border town of Welshpool has a ring of 8 bells in its parish church. 6 of the current bells were cast in 1824 by Thomas Mears the second, whilst the remaining 2 were cast at later dates - possibly recastings of original Mears bells. The largest bell weighs about 3 fifths of a ton, so they are about 'average' size. This tower was host to the all Wales striking competition in September 2012. This is the Mid-Wales branch ringing the test piece - a touch of Grandsire Triples. This was recorded at the request of laurabellringer, who rang the 2nd. Sorry about the long pause at the beginning: the signal to start was given and then they took a while to actually get going! And I'm too lazy to find out how to edit this out.

South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed Powys Police Firearms Collaboration
South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed Powys Police Forces launch a Joint Firearms Training Unit. The Unit will bring together Firearms Training Specialists at one location; Waterton in Bridgend. Twenty four officers and members of staff from the three forces involved, will make up the Unit. They will deliver firearms training to command, specialist and Armed Response Vehicle officers from the three forces. This collaboration project will provide resilience and increased access to resources and expertise. It will also ensure that training, policy and procedures, are standardised to the highest level across all three Force areas. The project is expected to create potential savings in terms of training delivery and shared equipment costs.

Monteath and Powys Laser Scanning Applications (long).wmv
A sample of Monteath and Powys surveyors Newcastle, NSW, Australia, 3D laser scanning applications. Laser scanning is a fast and entire survey solution for a wide range of industrial, mining, planning, infrastructure construction and architectural needs. Our Leica HDS7000 scanner can collect data at a rate of up to 1 million points per second with an accuracy of +-2mm for close range applications. Scanning greatly reduces the field component of a survey reducing machinery shutdown times. Measurements are taken remotely, eliminating safety problems evolved with working near high voltage, vehicle traffic and difficult or elevated access areas.
