  Canada ( /ˈkænədə/) is a North American country consisting of ten provinces and three territories.   Brian Eno
  Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno (born 15 May 1948), commonly known as Brian Eno or simply as Eno ( /ˈiːnoʊ/^{[citation needed]}), is an English musician, composer, record producer, singer, and visual artist, known as one of the principal innovators of ambient music.
  Eno studied at Colchester Institute art school in Essex, England, taking inspiration from minimalist painting. During his time on the art course at the Institute, he also gained experience in playing and making music through teaching sessions held in the adjacent music school.
  He joined the band Roxy Music as keyboard and synthesiser player in the early 1970s. Roxy Music's success in the glam rock scene came quickly, but Eno soon tired of touring and of conflicts with lead singer Bryan Ferry.
  Eno's solo music has explored more experimental musical styles and ambient music. It has also been extremely influential, pioneering ambient and generative music, innovating production techniques, and emphasising "theory over practice". He also introduced the concept of chance music to popular audiences, partially through collaborations with other musicians.

  Britta Phillips (born June 11, 1963, Boyne City, Michigan) is an American musician, songwriter, actress and voice actor. She is best known as the singing voice of the title character of Jem and as one half of the duo Dean and Britta, with her husband Dean Wareham. Her acting credits include the 1988 film Satisfaction.
  Phillips was born in Boyne City, Michigan to a musical family, but grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Her father, Peter Phillips, is a musician, songwriter, jingle composer and former music teacher of Paul Simon. He has also worked on several Broadway plays. At the age of 19, Phillips moved to Brooklyn, New York to pursue a career in music. In 1985, through his musical contacts, Phillips father secured an audition for her for the role of "Jem". Phillips was hired on the strength of her demo for the show's theme song, and that version was the one used in the opening credits.
  Phillips was a member of the bands The Belltower and Ultrababyfat in the 1990s and Luna from 2001 to 2005. Since then, Phillips has released albums with fellow Luna bandmate (and husband) Dean Wareham. Wareham, a former member of the band Galaxie 500, toured with Phillips in 2010 performing the band's back catalog. Phillips has also toured with Ben Lee. Phillips and Wareham have also written score pieces for the Noah Baumbach film The Squid and the Whale and the Morgan J. Freeman film Just Like the Son. Their song "Knives From Bavaria" (Sonic Souvenirs) appears in the Olivier Assayas film, Clean, (starring Maggie Cheung). Their song "Your baby" appears in the Italian movie "A/R Andata e Ritorno" directed by Marco Ponti. In 2001, Phillips provided vocals on the Anika Moa album Thinking Room. In 2007, Britta produced and recorded a cover of Neil Young's "I Am A Child" for the benefit CD Cinnamon Girl - Women Artists Cover Neil Young For Charity. In 2010, Phillips performed vocals on the MGMT single "It's Working" from their album Congratulations.

  Béatrice Dalle
  Béatrice Dalle (born 19 December 1964) is a French actress.
  Dalle was born in Brest, Finistère, France, as Béatrice Cabarrou. In 1985 she married the painter Jean-François Dalle but they divorced in 1988.
  She was working as a model when she met filmmaker Jean-Jacques Beineix. Beineix cast her in the lead role in the 1986 film 37°2 le matin (later released in the United Kingdom and United States under the title Betty Blue). She went on to appear in a series of major roles in French films, including the 1989 film Chimère, which was entered into the 1989 Cannes Film Festival.
  She is seen in a feature role in the 1991 music video "Move To Memphis" by Norwegian band a-ha.
  She made her debut to American audiences in Jim Jarmusch's Night on Earth in 1991. In 1997, she was cast in The Blackout, her first film made in the United States.

  Daniel Lanois
  Daniel Lanois ( /lænˈwɑː/ lan-WAH; born September 19, 1951 in Hull, Quebec) is a Canadian record producer, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. He has released a number of albums of his own work and has produced albums for a wide variety of artists, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Brandon Flowers and Ron Sexsmith. Lanois is best known for his work with Brian Eno, the pair collaborating on a number of projects together and producing several platinum albums for U2, including The Joshua Tree. Three albums produced or co-produced by Lanois have won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, and four others received nominations.
  Lanois started his production career when he was 17, working in his own studio with his brother Bob Lanois in the basement of their mother's Ancaster, Ontario home, recording local artists including Simply Saucer. Later Daniel started Grant Avenue Studios in an old house he purchased in Hamilton, Ontario. He worked with a number of local bands, including Martha and the Muffins (for whom his sister Jocelyne played bass), Ray Materick, as well as the Canadian children's singer Raffi.

  David Roback (born April 4, 1958) is a guitarist and songwriter best known as a member of the duo Mazzy Star.
  Roback grew up in Los Angeles and attended Palisades High School, graduating in 1975. He was a classmate and neighbor of John Hoffs, the brother of Susanna Hoffs, who would eventually become the lead singer of the all-girl band The Bangles. He and his brother Stephen Roback, a bass guitarist, formed a band called the Unconscious, which also included Susanna Hoffs.
  Roback was active in the Paisley Underground music scene in L.A. in the early-to-mid 1980s as the leader of the band Rain Parade which was immensely popular on the L.A. club circuit. Shortly after the release of the band's first album Emergency Third Rail Power Trip, in 1983, Roback left Rain Parade to join Rainy Day, a collaborative effort with a number of L.A. musicians in the Paisley Underground. After releasing their self-titled album, Roback formed Opal (which was initially called Clay Allison), with vocalist/bassist Kendra Smith, formerly of The Dream Syndicate. After one EP and one full length album Kendra Smith was replaced by Hope Sandoval but this lineup never released an album as Opal. David changed the name of the band to Mazzy Star in 1989.

  Born in New Delhi, India, and raised in Cache Bay, Ontario, Emily Haines grew up as a dual citizen of Canada and United States, the latter after her American-born parents. She is the daughter of Canadian poet Paul Haines. Her sister is the Canadian television journalist Avery Haines and her brother is Tim Haines, owner of Bluestreak Records in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
  After settling in Peterborough at the age of three, she grew up in a house rich with experimental art and musical expression. Paul would often make cassettes of rare and eclectic music for his daughter to listen to and her early influences included Carla Bley, Robert Wyatt, and later PJ Harvey. By her teens she followed her parents' footsteps by attending the Etobicoke School of the Arts (ESA) to study drama. There she met Amy Millan and Kevin Drew, with whom she would later collaborate in hHead. Emily also briefly dated Kevin Drew.

  Martha Henry, CC (born February 17, 1938, Detroit, Michigan) is a Canadian stage, film, and television actress, who is best known for her appearances at the Stratford Festival.
  Martha Henry grew up in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills and attended Kingswood School (today Cranbrook Kingswood School).
  She was an early graduate from the National Theatre School in Montreal, and became a leading actress at the Stratford Festival, appearing in leading roles from the late 1960s until the early 1980s. During these years she won acclaim in several roles including Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (1969), Isabella in Measure for Measure (1976), Olga in Three Sisters (1976), and Paulina in The Winter's Tale (1978).

Nolte's paternal grandfather was of German descent. Nolte's maternal grandfather, Matthew Leander King, invented the hollow-tile silo and was prominent in early aviation. His maternal grandmother ran the student union at Iowa State University. He has an older sister, Nancy, who was an executive for the Red Cross.

  Olivier Assayas (born January 25, 1955) is a French film director and screenwriter.
  He made his debut in 1986, after directing some short films and writing for the influential film magazine Cahiers du cinéma.
  Assayas's father was French director/screenwriter Jacques Rémy (1910–1981). Assayas started his career in the industry by helping him. He ghostwrote episodes for TV shows his father was working on when his health failed.
  Assayas's film Cold Water was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.
  His biggest hit to date has been Irma Vep, starring Hong Kong star Maggie Cheung, which manages to be a tribute both to French director Louis Feuillade and to Hong Kong cinema.
  While working at Cahiers du cinéma, Assayas wrote lovingly about European film directors he admires but also about Asian directors. One of his latest films is a documentary about Taiwanese filmmaker Hou Hsiao-Hsien.
  He married Hong Kong movie actress Maggie Cheung in 1998. They divorced in 2001, but their relationship remained amicable, and in 2004 Cheung made her award-winning movie Clean with him.

  Tricky (born Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws, 27 January 1968) is an Englishmusician and actor. As a producer and a musician, he is noted for a dark, rich and layered sound and a whispering sprechgesang lyrical style. Culturally, Tricky blends different styles, particularly in his musical fusion of rock and hip hop, high art and pop culture.   Tricky was born in Knowle West, Bristol, England to a Jamaican father and a mixed-race Ghanaian-English mother. His father left the family before he was born and his mother, Maxine Quaye, committed suicide when he was only four. He named his solo album after her - Maxinquaye - and once said that though he hardly knew her, he feels like she's speaking through him with his words.
  He spent his youth in the care of his grandmother, who often let him watch old horror movies instead of going to school. At 15 he began to write lyrics ("I like to rock, I like to dance, I like pretty girls taking down their pants" MixMag 1996).^{[citation needed]} At 17, he spent some time in prison because he bought forged £50 notes from a friend, who later informed the police.
