DAY AFTER SEPTEMBER 11, 1714
In the 17th Century, during the War of Succession that occurred in the kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula, the Crown of Castile gave support to Philip of Bourbon. The Kingdom of Aragon, the Principality of Catalonia and the kingdoms of Valencia and Mallorca were sovereign and had been part of the federation of the Crown of Aragon or Catalan-Aragonese since the 13th Century. These kingdoms aligned with the pretender Charles of Austria. He offered them sincere guarantees of respect for the constitutions and liberties of the Catalan-Aragonese federation. The victory of Philip of Bourbon meant the end of the rights and privileges of the kingdoms of the Crown of Aragon and they were unified under the laws of Castile. Barcelona fell on 11th September 1714 against the forces of Philip V of Bourbon.

Manifestació Som Una Nació. Nosaltres decidim
The territory that now constitutes the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain, and the adjoining Catalan region of France, was first settled during the Middle Palaeolithic. Like the rest of the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula, it was colonized by Ancient Greeks and Carthaginians and participated in the pre-Roman Iberian culture. With the rest of Hispania, it was part of theRoman Empire, then came under Visigothic rule after Rome's collapse. The northernmost part of Catalonia was briefly occupied by the Moorish (Muslim-ruled) al-Andalus in the eighth century, but after the defeat of Emir Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqiwas's troops atTours in 732 local Visigoths regained autonomy, though they voluntarily made themselves tributary to the emerging Frankish kingdom, which gave the grouping of these local powers the generic name Marca Hispanica. Identifiably Catalan culture developed in the Middle Ages under the hegemony of the Counts of Barcelona. As part of the Crown of Aragon — most historians would say the dominant part — the Catalans became a maritime power, expanding by trade and conquest into Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and even Sardinia and Sicily. The marriage of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon (1469) made them kings of the different Christian kingdoms in the Iberic peninsula, while still keeping the individual laws in each kingdom; in 1492, the last of al-Andalus was conquered and the Spanish conquest of the Americas began. 2009 WRS Pro Tour: The 2009 World Finals (Las Vegas, USA) by J.Cloe
World class riders gathered in Las Vegas on Halloween weekend and battled for the World Finals title, last stop of the WRS 2009 Pro Tour.
A lot of pessure was on Aragon at this final event in Vegas because two riders could have potentially taken his 1st place on the WRL: Chris Haffey and Julien Cudot.
After a brilliant season on the Pro Tour in which he qualified for the Pro Finals, amateur Julien Cudot didn't manage to pass the first round. Chris Haffey, although succeeding at qualifying for the final round, took a hard fall on a disaster true fish and had to retire from the competition.
Despite Wellsmore's (2nd) impressive tricks, Broskow's (3rd) creativity and style, Sizemore's (4th) aggressive disasters and Stockwell's (5th) fast lines, Brian Aragon did not loose his focus and took 1st place by landing stylish hammers and utilizing the whole course including every new obstacles built especially for the Las Vegas Finals.
He was then crowned 2009 World Champion (WRL#1) in front of the Vegas crowd, alongside Chris Haffey (WRL#2) and David Sizemore (WRL#3).

1. Brian Aragon [USA]
2. CJ Wellsmore [Australia]
3. Alex Broskow [USA]
