Niagara Travel: Niagara Escarpment tour: Vertical rockfaces of Dundas Peak
These video clips were taken during my driving tour around the Niagara Escarpment on July 18, 2007. As much as I love Toronto, I occasionally need to get out into the country and enjoy the beauty and serenity of Ontario's rural areas. So at 9 am I met my friend Karel who is a local expert of the area and we set off on a discovery of Halton Region Conservation areas: we started with Mount Nemo Conservation Area, stopped in Lowville, and then admired the Iroquois longhouses in Crawford Lake. After a brief stop in the Hilton Falls Conservation Area we explored the Victorian-era Main Street of Milton as well as its scenic Mill Pond. From here we drove on towards the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area where we enjoyed the view of two waterfalls: Tew's Falls and Webster's Falls. We also hiked out to Dundas Peak, and the rocky platform with its sheer vertical drops provided a stunning view of Dundas and the City of Hamilton. I capped off my country tour with a leisurely drive along Lake Ontario's shoreline past the cities of Burlington, Oakville and Mississauge. You can read the full story at www.travelandtransitions.com Also, my FREE travel ebooks containing stories from my trips to destinations such as Sicily, Havana, Mexico City, New York City, Chicago, Florida, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Halifax and many others are going up right now at www.travelandtransitions.com

Why We Don't Want the Niagara Escarpment Highway
The Government of Ontario is planning to slash a six-lane highway through a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve on the Niagara Escarpment, one of the last breathing spaces in the urban sprawl of the Greater Toronto Area. Once it's gone, it's gone...If you love our natural areas; understand the essential value of our irreplaceable farm lands; are sick of sprawl; and don't want more quarries blasted for stone for this highway (48000tons per km!) then please, attend this meeting and send the following message to our government: Highway? No way! sincerely, Stop the Escarpment Highway Coalition (SEHC) stophighway.com http twitter.com nohighway.blog.com

Escarpment Project - Project Punchowl 2013
On April 7, 2013 groups of people are getting together for a fun and rewarding day of hiking while giving back to nature along the Hamilton escarpment. This video shows the Devil's Punchbowl and talks about what will be happening there. It's an all ages event and a great way for parents to teach their little ones about nature. Students who help are able to get community service hours for the efforts. If you are interested in joining let us know so we know how many supplies are needed.
