Britain's Best Breaks ~ Brighton & Hove
Visit our website and find some great holiday deals! britainsbestbreak.tv Welcome to Brighton and Hove, playground of the 21st century, a place where having a good time is a way of life, where decadence stretches back to the days of the decadent Prince Regent. These days, it's the City of Brighton and Hove. How grand, how grown up, how typically Brighton to give itself a double barrelled name and parade its gold chain to the world, before nicking behind the bike shed to strip down to its latex bikini once the sun has gone down. Brighton is famous for its antiques and the North Laine is second only to Tunbridge Wells in the area for a good bargain. But Brighton is also deeply contemporary and has learnt how to decorate with a little help from the gay community; it probably has a higher rate of Brabantia bins per capita than anywhere else in the South East - which means that it's a dream if you can't sleep for fantasising about interiors. If the rise in house prices mean that you can't buy a roof in Brighton any more, at least you can still afford the retro wallpaper.

Nazi EDL/MfE Humiliated in Brighton: Sun 22 April 2012
REMEMBER THESE FACES!!! portsmouthnaziwatch.blogspot.co.uk Racist EDL front organisation the March for England [MfE] attempted to bring hatred and bigotry to the streets of Brighton on Sunday 22 April 2012. A tiny number of fake 'patriots' were heavily outnumbered by anti-fascists who made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that fascists are not welcome on the streets of Brighton. Police estimates reveal that by the end of the march the fascists only numbered a derisory 120, the anti-fascists numbered up to 1000 and lined the streets of their "march". The fascists had to hide behind police lines in fear at the anger of Brighton residents who did not want these far-right extremists bussed in to spread race hate on the streets of a peaceful, diverse and multi-cultural city. Whose streets? Clearly not the nazi EDLs!!!

Although organisers expected a crowd of around 60000 people, the event instead attracted an estimated 250000 who crammed the promenade and beach between Brighton's piers. Local police forced the event to end early amid safety concerns, overcrowding, and one death. After the music had finished and the crowd began to dissipate, traffic ensued throughout the Brighton area with many caught in traffic jams until the morning. In June 2005, Fatboy Slim filled the Friday night headline slot on the "Other Stage" at the Glastonbury Festival. In 2006, Fatboy Slim filled the Saturday headline slot at the Global Gathering festival, Long Marston Airfield in the English Midlands. He played a two hour set, appearing in front of a visual stage set comprising video screens and 3D ...

KI: Michael Levin
I first became aware of Michael Levin's photographs in 2010. His photographs of everyday places and common subjects are transformed into something much more when he views them through his lens...absolutely stunning! Being that a large majority of Michael's work is done in Japan, I instantly had a connection to it as I too have a bond with Japan and have traveled and documented the landscape extensively in my own way. After watching my film Hayaku (http://vimeo.com/12112529) Michael contacted me regarding a project he was working on and felt it might be of interest to me. He told me that he really appreciated my work and recognized the dedication and effort that went into it. I agreed to go on a trip with him to Japan and work on his project. But for me, there was a greater opportunity at hand. We had several conversations and I gave him some ideas about expanding the project and he really took to it. A month later and we were in Japan having beers and sushi.
I wanted to document Michael at work, in Japan, in a way that hasn't really been explored with photographers. I told Michael of my idea to make an artistic representation of his experiences in the Land of the Rising Sun - to show him in his working environment in a way that complimented his work. Not to explain it with words, but to feel it through the flow of the film. I wanted to show the process, the journey, the adventure in a way that would give the viewer an emotional connection to Michael and his photography.
The final result is something that I think is truly original… something that showcases who Michael is, and more importantly, what his work is all about. This film is a collaboration between Michael and I and our love for photography, film, Japan and adventure. This is a subject that Michael and I are continuing to explore as we plan more trips together, more films and more adventures.
I hope you enjoy!
**Michael will be conducting a photography workshop in Brighton, UK. this September.

This is Brighton
I started shooting not long after my thirteenth birthday, and what began as a test, turned into a project that would take 9-10 months of on-and-off shooting to complete. I shot over 45,000 stills including reshoots, not all of which made the final cut, and eventually decided that I had most of the footage I had set out to get for my film.
Shot as a series of stills on a Sony A230. Tilt-Shift effect applied in AE. Edited in FCP.
The music is by the wonderful 'Cinematic Orchestra' who kindly let me use their tracks.
The film itself is dedicated to Rob MacDonald who sadly passed away this year.

Kitesurfer Jumps Brighton Pier - Lewis Crathern Kitesurfing Stunt
Today ex-British Kitesurfing Champion, Lewis Crathern braved the storm and successfully jumped the Brighton Pier! In Gale force winds Lewis attempted for 2 hours to navigate the choppy waters and find a path to launch over the pier but with no success. But never one to give up Lewis strapped on a bigger kite and fearlessly launched his way over Brightons Iconic Palace Pier. Worthing based Lewis hit the world news, last year, when he and friend Jake Scrace, took on another storm and took on Worthing pier. Brighton Rock Trailer - Brighton Rock Movie Trailer
www.blockbuster.co.uk - Coming Soon. Adapted from Graham Greene's iconic 1939 novel, BRIGHTON ROCK charts the headlong fall of Pinkie, a razor-wielding disadvantaged teenager hell bent on clawing his way up through the ranks of organized crime. At the heart of the story is the anti-hero Pinkie's relationship with Rose - an apparently innocent young waitress who stumbles on evidence linking Pinkie and his gang to a revenge killing that Pinkie commits. After the murder, Pinkie seduces Rose, first in an effort to find out how much she knows and latterly to ensure she will not talk to the police. A love story between a murderer and a witness; can Pinkie trust Rose or should he kill her before she talks to the police? Can Rose trust Pinkie or is she next in line? Brighton Rock stars a remarkable cast including Sam Riley (Control) as Pinkie, Andrea Riseborough (BAFTA nominee for Margaret Thatcher: the Long Walk to Finchley) as Rose, Oscar winner Helen Mirren (The Queen) as Ida and John Hurt (1984, The Proposition) as Phil Corkery.
