This is a run along I-280 in San Francisco County, leading up to the northern terminus in San Francisco. The ride starts south of the CA 1 South turnoff to Pacifica in Daly City and follows it to Sixth Street. After that, I turn around and follow I-280 South to just past the U.S. 101 junction.
This is the finale to my Bay Area subset season and the last Bay Area video from my May 2013 trip.

San Francisco
San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California and the only consolidated city-county in California. San Francisco encompasses a land area of about 46.9 square miles (121 km2) on the northern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, which makes it the smallest county in the state. It has a density of about 18,187 people per square mile (7,022 people per km2), making it the most densely settled large city (population greater than 200,000) in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City. San Francisco is the fourth-most populous city in California, after Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose, and the 13th-most populous city in the United States—with a Census-estimated 2014 population of 852,469. The city and its surrounding areas are known as the San Francisco Bay Area, and are a part of the larger OMB designated San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland combined statistical area, the fifth most populous in the nation with an estimated population of 8.6 million.

San Francisco Bay Area
The San Francisco Bay Area is a populous region surrounding the San Francisco and San Pablo estuaries in Northern California. The region encompasses the major cities and metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, along with smaller urban and rural areas. The Bay Area's nine counties are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. Home to approximately 7.44 million people, the nine-county Bay Area contains many cities, towns, airports, and associated regional, state, and national parks, connected by a network of roads, highways, railroads, bridges, tunnels and commuter rail. The combined statistical area of the region is the second-largest in California (after the Greater Los Angeles area), the fifth-largest in the United States, and the 43rd-largest urban area in the world.
The United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) does not use the nine-county definition of the San Francisco Bay Area. The OMB has designated a more extensive 12-county Combined Statistical Area (CSA) titled the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area which also includes the three counties of San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, and San Benito that do not border San Francisco Bay, but are economically tied to the nine counties that do.

New Jersey
New Jersey is a state in the Northeastern and Middle Atlantic regions of the United States. It is bordered on the north and east by New York, on the southeast and south by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by Pennsylvania, and on the southwest by Delaware. New Jersey is the fourth-smallest state, but the 11th-most populous and the most densely populated of the 50 United States. New Jersey lies entirely within the combined statistical areas of New York City and Philadelphia and is the second-wealthiest U.S. state by median household income as of 2014.
New Jersey was inhabited by Native Americans for more than 2,800 years, with historical tribes such as the Lenape along the coast. In the early 17th century, the Dutch and the Swedes made the first European settlements. The English later seized control of the region, naming it the Province of New Jersey after the largest of the Channel Islands, Jersey, and granting it as a colony to Sir George Carteret and John Berkeley, 1st Baron Berkeley of Stratton. New Jersey was the site of several decisive battles during the American Revolutionary War in the 18th century.

The branch was located at that site for almost 38 years, until the building that housed it was demolished during construction of Interstate 280. Glen Park Branch was then housed in several different locations over the course of 42 years until a multiuse building was constructed in the neighborhood at 2825 Diamond Street. Part of the new building was designated just for the library. The branch opened on October 13, 2007 and became the sixth branch to be renovated through the Branch Library Improvement Program.

Welcome aboard Community Coach route 77X. Our bus today is brand new 2016 MCI D4500CT 17006, as we ride the entire line from Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City to Headquarters Plaza in Morristown by the Green. This was my second time on one of the new motorcoaches that will soon be replacing the bulk of the old MCI fleet that dates back to the early 2000s.
I have to say that I was quite impressed with the smoothness of the updated powertrain, which is a Cummins ISX12 (425 hp and 1450 lbft torque) with Cummins C-brake (jake brake) mated to an Allison B500 Gen V 6-speed transmission. We do hit the governed top speed of 70 MPH while on Interstate 280 just after the 1st Street on-ramp merge (26:10). The updated engine brake software makes stops much smoother; instead of the jake brake being constantly set to a specific level of output, the brake output varies depending on how far the brake pedal is depressed by the bus operator. This means that there is more constant and active blending of the engine brake and the air brakes.
The Cummins ISX engine shares some auditory similarities with, but doesn't sound exactly like the old Detroit Diesel Series 60; the quality of the base is a bit throatier with the Cummins. Additionally, you can hear the variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) adjusting as the engine returns to idle speed. The seats were also of a different quality; the cushions do not sink as far down, but instead stay firm at the points where you want your body to be supported. Overall, I can say that I'm looking forward to the bulk of the 1100+ order coming in to replace the old MCIs on NJT and Lakeland (among other carriers). Enjoy the ride =)

Welcome aboard Community Coach route 77X. Our bus today is brand new 2016 MCI D4500CT 17006, as we ride the entire line from Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City to Headquarters Plaza in Morristown by the Green. This was my second time on one of the new motorcoaches that will soon be replacing the bulk of the old MCI fleet that dates back to the early 2000s.
I have to say that I was quite impressed with the smoothness of the updated powertrain, which is a Cummins ISX12 (425 hp and 1450 lbft torque) with Cummins C-brake (jake brake) mated to an Allison B500 Gen V 6-speed transmission. We do hit the governed top speed of 70 MPH while on Interstate 280 just after the 1st Street on-ramp merge (26:10). The updated engine brake software makes stops much smoother; instead of the jake brake being constantly set to a specific level of output, the brake output varies depending on how far the brake pedal is depressed by the bus operator. This means that there is more constant and active blending of the engine brake and the air brakes.
The Cummins ISX engine shares some auditory similarities with, but doesn't sound exactly like the old Detroit Diesel Series 60; the quality of the base is a bit throatier with the Cummins. Additionally, you can hear the variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) adjusting as the engine returns to idle speed. The seats were also of a different quality; the cushions do not sink as far down, but instead stay firm at the points where you want your body to be supported. Overall, I can say that I'm looking forward to the bulk of the 1100+ order coming in to replace the old MCIs on NJT and Lakeland (among other carriers). Enjoy the ride =)

The branch was located at that site for almost 38 years, until the building that housed it was demolished during construction of Interstate 280. Glen Park Branch was then housed in several different locations over the course of 42 years until a multiuse building was constructed in the neighborhood at 2825 Diamond Street. Part of the new building was designated just for the library. The branch opened on October 13, 2007 and became the sixth branch to be renovated through the Branch Library Improvement Program.
