Beowulf & the Anglo-Saxons (Part 1)
Miraculously preserved over the centuries, its artistic importance was unrecognized until an essay by JRR Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings) revealed its unity and multi-dimensional structure. Beowulf is now regarded as the most important manuscript the Anglo-Saxons have handed down to us, of immense linguistic as well as poetic value. This program sets out to trace the origins of the tribes that brought this epic into being, the war-like Northmen from Sweden, Denmark and Germany who were to conquer and settle regions of a more clement and fertile island that would become known as England, named after the tribe of the Angles. Using 3-D animation, location footage, archive materials and interviews, the Beowulf epic is examined in the light of the civilization that created it. It investigates their religious beliefs as well as their everyday life, and suggests that, old as the poem is, it may have roots in an even more ancient fertility cult.

Romney Adviser: Obama Doesn't Appreciate "Anglo-Saxon Heritage" of Britain, US
Watch: youtube.com slatev.com Follow twitter.com facebook.com Why would Mitt Romney be a better president than Barack Obama when it comes to relations between the United States and the UK? According to one Romney adviser, the former Massachusetts governor would better respect the two countries' "Anglo-Saxon heritage." Part of an interview with the Telegraph newspaper during the GOP candidate's first major international foreign policy tour, the comments are raising eyebrows because of their hint at drawing a distinction between Romney and Obama over race. The suggestion is that, since president Obama's heritage lies in Africa instead of one of the Germanic Caucasian tribes that settled Britain and other parts of Europe, he doesn't fully understand what the adviser called the "special" relationship between the two countries. The advisers, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not supposed to insult a sitting president in the foreign press, also said Obama was "comfortable with American decline." President Obama, for his part, has suggested that his opponent is at best a foreign-policy novice. He may have a point—at least when it comes to Romney's advisers.

The Anglo-Saxons in Britain
For over 600 years the Anglo-Saxons were settled in Britain replacing many of the Roman stone buildings with new buildings of their own. At the same time they brought Christianity to the country. The reign of the Anglo-Saxons came to an end in 1066 but they will be remembered not only for the vast political change they brought with them but for the amazing craftmanship and ornate artifacts and Jewellery that they left behind. They certainly earned their place in history !!

Dr Len Horowitz - Anglo American Flu Genocide
The "Big One" is coming, experts say. The growing H1N1-H5N1 recombined flu pandemic implicates the Anglo-American Vaccine Pipeline, proves world leading consumer health protector, Dr. Leonard Horowitz, using documents published by implicated officials. Dr. Horowitz reports here on the leading Anglo-American network of genetic engineers manipulating, mutating, and distributing the pandemic flu viruses. The evidence compels you, for the benefit of public health and safety to seriously consider, even decree, a conspiracy to commit genocide, according to this Harvard trained expert in "psychological operations" and emerging diseases. Here, Dr. Horowitz exposes Dr. James S. Robertson, England's leading bioengineer of flu viruses for the vaccine industry, and avid promoter of US Government funding for lucrative biodefense contracts. This presentation supplements Dr. Horowitz's SPECIAL REPORT on the "Mexican Flu" in which he focused on Novavax, Inc., in Bethesda, Maryland, receiving from Dr. Robertson, through the "vaccine pipeline," genetically-modified recombinants of the avian, swine, and Spanish flu viruses, H5N1 and H1N1, nearly identical to the unprecedented Mexican virus is reportedly making its way back in the Fall in the form of "The Big One." This production, with supplemental reading at www.fluscam.com, is a prologue to Dr. Horowitz's forthcoming SPECIAL REPORT II--a segment that condemns the American Baxter Corporation that England, and other European nations, has ...

6df Galaxy Survey fly through
The 6dF Galaxy Survey has collected more than 120,000 redshifts over the southern sky over a 5 year period from 2001 to 2005. Its goal is to map our southern view of the local universe, and use the peculiar motions of one-tenth of the survey to measure galaxy mass. It covers more than eight times the sky area of the successful 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey.

Red Gold | trailer
The Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska is home to the Kvichak and Nushagak rivers, the two most prolific sockeye salmon runs left in the world. Mining companies Northern Dynasty Minerals and Anglo American have partnered to propose development of an open-pit and underground mine at the headwaters of the two river systems. The exploration site is the second largest combined deposit of copper, gold, and molybdenum ever discovered and has an estimated value of more than $300 billion.
Despite promises of a clean project by officials, the accident-plagued history of hard rock mining has wrought one of the biggest land use battles Alaska has ever faced. Documenting the growing unrest among native, commercial, and sport-fishermen, Red Gold is a portrait of a unique way of life that will not survive if the salmon don’t return with Bristol Bay’s tide.

Encore: Between Two Worlds -- Life on the Border
No writer understands the border culture between Mexico and the United States more intimately than Luis Alberto Urrea, this week’s guest on an encore broadcast of Moyers & Company. His own life is the stuff of great novels. Son of a Mexican father and Anglo mother, Urrea grew up first in Tijuana and then just across the border in San Diego. Over the years he has produced a series of acclaimed novels, including The Hummingbird’s Daughter, The Devil’s Highway, and his latest, Queen of America – each a rich and revealing account of the people of the borderlands that join and separate our two nations.
Earlier this year, a number of books were removed from Tucson, Arizona classrooms when the Tucson school district eliminated a Mexican-American studies program on the accusation it was “divisive.” The program included references to Urrea’s work. Urrea talks with Bill Moyers about that episode as he unfolds the modern reality of life on the border.
Three of Urrea’s books were among scores of others removed from classrooms earlier this year when the Tucson school district eliminated Mexican-American studies on the accusation it was “divisive.” But there’s no ban on ideas in Bill’s studio, and Urrea talks with Bill Moyers about that episode as he unfolds the modern reality of life on the border.

'Anglo-Saxon Heritage' Remark By Romney Adviser
"An adviser to Mitt Romney told a London paper that Obama has not been an effective partner for Britain because he doesn't "fully appreciate" America's "Anglo-Saxon heritage"...".* Taken together with previous comments, it appears the Romney campaign is not 'one of us' and blowing a racial dog whistle. The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read more here from Judd Legum of Think Progress: thinkprogress.org Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: twitter.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com
