Delosperma nubigenum 'Basutoland' - Trailing Hardy Ice
Bright yellow, flat, dime-sized florets peep above succulent, fleshy lime green trailing foliage in May -- June. Same cascading habit as cooperi, making an excellent ground cover at just 1-2", it is irresistible peeping out of a stonewall, in the rock garden or between stories on a walkway. www.treadwellplants.com

Lesotho / the Kingdom of Lesotho
Lesotho , officially the Kingdom of Lesotho, is a landlocked country and enclave—entirely surrounded by the Republic of South Africa. It is just over 30000 km2 (11583 sq mi) in size with an estimated population of almost 1800000. Its capital and largest city is Maseru. Lesotho is the southernmost landlocked country in the world. It is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The name "Lesotho" translates roughly into "the land of the people who speak Sesotho". About 40% of the population live below the international poverty line of US$1.25 a day. In 1854 the British pulled out of the region, and in 1858 Moshoeshoe fought a series of wars with the Boers in the Free State-Basotho War, losing a great portion of the western lowlands. The last war in 1867 ended when Moshoeshoe appealed to Queen Victoria, who agreed to make Basutoland a British protectorate in 1868. In 1869, the British signed a treaty at Aliwal with the Boers that defined the boundaries of Basutoland and later Lesotho, which by ceding the western territories effectively reduced Moshoeshoe's kingdom to half its previous size.Following the cession in 1869, the British initially transferred functions from Moshoeshoe's capital in Thaba Bosiu to a police camp on the northwest border, Maseru, until administration of Basutoland was transferred to the Cape Colony in 1871. Moshoeshoe died on March 11, 1870, marking the end of the traditional era and the beginning of the colonial era, and was buried at Thaba Bosiu ...

Bathepu Dance (1957)
Rare footage of the dancing ritual of women healers, once referred to as "witch doctors," in the mountains of Southern Africa 1957 (with "novitiates" clad in orange) -- filmed by a missionary priest at the time, who had gained the trust of the village where this took place.

Stamps are chiefly used in typical olde tyme condition from superb to faulty, ranges on almost every page for every colony from Aitutaki, Antigua, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados & Basutoland to Zululand with (amongst so much more) stronger showings from such places as Canada, Cape of Good Hope, Ceylon, Cyprus, Great Britain starting with 1840 1d black & 2d blue with strong ranges throughout (these few pages probably catalogue £8000+), Hong Kong, India, Mauritius, Natal, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Transvaal, Trinidad, etc, etc. A fascinating olde tyme collection with many classics and high cat price items - biggest is probably the New Zealand 1856 2d blue unused SG 5 (£3000, with 3+ margins) amongst many other Chalon classics! Will take the lucky buyer some time to hunt through. A highly recommended olde Empire miscellany! (approx 2000+ stamps).

Jeanne de Casalis & Gordon Harker - Mrs Feather - No. 2: Engaging a Servant (1933)
On this record Jean de Casalis is joined by 30s British comedy film actor Gordon Harker (7 August 1885 -- 2 March 1967) who played the title character in the Inspector Hornleigh films with Alastair Sim. Not known to have done many records, this is possibly his only one as I've not discovered any others. Here he plays a butler looking for a new position with Mrs Feather. Jeanne de Casalis (22 May 1897 -- 19 August 1966) was an African-born British actress of stage, radio, and film. Born in Basutoland as Jeanne Casalis de Pury, she was educated in France - where her father owned one of the largest corset retailers, Charneaux - and began her career in music before working in London. She appeared on stage in The Mask of Virtue with Vivien Leigh (1935) and in the Agatha Christie mystery, The Hollow. Her best-known films were Cottage to Let (1941) and Jamaica Inn (1939). Her radio, stage and record comedy character was Mrs. Feather, a befuddled midle-aged woman often confused and easily mislead. The character also shows up in a few short comedy films. Many of the sketches were one-sides telephone conversations where we just hear Mrs Feather's side of the conversation. She married English actor Colin Clive, best remembered for Frankenstein (1931), in June 1929, though they were later estranged for several years before his death on 25 June 1937 from tuberculosis. Her second husband, whom she married around 1938, was RAF Wing Commander Cowan Douglas Stephenson; they lived at ...

Che BM Konuşmasi
Her şeyden önce, Küba temsilciler heyeti olarak burada tüm dünyanın sorunlarını tartışan ulusların arasına katılan üç yeni üyenin toplantımızda bulunmasından mutluluk duyduğumuzu belirtmek isteriz.
Küba, küçük ülkelerin egemenlik haklarını koruyan ilkelerin her an sınandığı bir yerdir.
Çünkü, ABD, Güney Vietnam’a karşı yıllardır sürdürdüğü savaşı artık Vietnam Demokratik Cumhuriyeti’ne sıçratmak amacında. S

Jeanne de Casalis - The Telephone Engineer (radio excerpt) (1930s)
An excerpt from a BBC radio show of unknown origin, likely mid-1930s. Taken from a 60s BBC vintage variety LP. Jeanne de Casalis - Mrs Feather in Electric Economy (1943)
This special wartime record was produced by The Gramophone Company (HMV) to both advertise British Gas and Electricity and advise on conserving energy supplies during the war using the popular 'Mr Therm' advertising brand. The A Side was Tommy Handley and Dorothy Summers from BBC radio comedy ITMA for the British Commercial Gas Association in a comedy sketch called 'Mrs. Mopp Joins The Home Guard' with Tommy as Mayor Handley of Foaming-at-the-Mouth, the contemporary setting for the series of ITMA at that time. That can be found in the Tommy Handley & ITMA folder on my channel. This is the B Side of that same record, for the British Commercial Electrical Development Association, and is Jeanne de Casalis as Mrs Feather in 'Electric Harmony' on the phone to Mayor Handley as a resident of Foaming-at-the-Mouth' although this is Casalis' usual one-sided conversation adn we don't actually hear Tommy Handley on this side of the record. A very rare curiosity! Jeanne de Casalis (22 May 1897 -- 19 August 1966) was an African-born British actress of stage, radio, and film.
