The Odd Couple II movie trailer preview from cheapflix
Some arguments stand the test of time. The times may have changed, but thankfully not the traits that make ex-roomies Felix (Lemmon) and Oscar (Matthau) the all-time perfect mismatch. Oscar is still an uncompromising slob who thinks a brown sock and a black sock is close enough. Felix is still a fussbudget who can't pass a spice rack without arranging it alphabetically. After years of going their separate ways, the two are together again, en route to the wedding of Oscar's son to Felix's daughter. They've got the map, the rental car, a tankful of Simon's comedy zingers, and they're getting 1000 smiles to the gallon. Cast: Christine Baranski, Bernard Hughes, Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Jonathan Silverman, Jean Smart

Jack Klugman The Odd Couple dies
The stage and screen actor remained popular for decades and was famous for his gruff but down-to-earth characters. Klugman was loved by millions as the messy one in TV's 'The Odd Couple' The veteran actor also was known as the gruff but idealistic medical examiner in 'Quincy' He lost his voice to throat cancer in 1980s and trained himself to speak again LOS ANGELES — Jack Klugman, the prolific, craggy-faced character actor and regular guy who was loved by millions as the messy one in TV's The Odd Couple and the crime-fighting coroner in Quincy, ME, died on Christmas Eve, his son said. He was 90. Klugman, who lost his voice to throat cancer in the 1980s and trained himself to speak son Adam Klugman said. Jack Klugman apparently died suddenly, and family members were not sure of the exact cause. As word of Klugman's death spread, comedians tweeted their appreciation. "You made my whole family laugh together," wrote Jon Favreau. William Shatner remembered Klugman as "an extraordinary and talented man." Ricky Gervais, tweeting for a generation of fans, cited Klugman's numerous credits and marveled "... and he looked just like my dad." Never anyone's idea of a matinee idol, Klugman remained a popular star for decades simply by playing a gruff but down-to-earth guy, his tie stained and a little loose, a cigar in hand during the days when smoking was permitted. His was an ideal persona for The Odd Couple, which ran from 1970 to 1975 and was based on Neil Simon's play about ...

"Premakes" Up! (1965)
What if... Walt Disney produced "Up" in the 1960s? Ah, the swinging 60s. It was a time when films were dominated by flying automobiles and flying nannies. It was also a time when live-action Disney films flourished and spawned such hits as "The Love Bug", "The Absent-Minded Professor", and "The Monkey's Uncle". In an alternate reality, this era also saw the production of the high-flying adventure-comedy, "Up!". Starring Spencer Tracy and Kirk Douglas, "Up!" followed the oddball escapades of the elderly widower, Carl Fredricksen, and his earnest band of misfits as they traveled through the wilds of South America. Produced two decades after "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros", the film continued the Disney tradition of telling stories set against Latin American backdrops. Editor's Note: I have always enjoyed old Disney movies from the 60s and 70s. They managed to tap into such an imaginatively odd combination of situations and characters (like dinosaur bones and Chinese spies in "One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing", or flying cars and basketball players in The Absent-Minded Professor"). In many ways, Pixar's "Up" continues this charming tradition with its flying houses, talking dogs and gigantic flightless birds. It's a brilliantly written and beautifully imagined film. Oh, and stay tuned for the frame-by-frame breakdown and cheat sheet... there are a couple of Easter eggs hidden in this one. Here's the recipe for the trailer: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, *batteries ...

They are credited with a great number of literary innovations and are seen as major influences of the dada and symbolist movements in art. Ubu Roi (translated as King Ubu and King Turd) is Jarry's most famous work. Ubu Roi eliminates the dramatic action from its Shakespearean antecedents and uses scatological humor and farce to present Jarry's views on art, literature, politics, the ruling classes, and current events. Ubu Roi first saw life as schoolboy farce, a parody of Felix Hebert, one of Jarry's teachers. Co-authored with his friend, Henri Morin, the skit was transformed into a marionette play through several versions. In 1891, Jarry published a story, "Guignol," reminiscent of the Punch and Judy performances popular throughout Europe, which showcased a vile and ...

CIA Archives: The Battle of Ia Drang Valley - Vietnam War Documentary Film (1965)
The Battle of Ia Drang was the first major battle between regulars of the United States Army and regulars of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN / NVA) of North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The two-part battle took place between November 14 and November 18, 1965, at two landing zones (LZs) northwest of Plei Me in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam (approximately 35 miles south-west of Pleiku) as part of the US airmobile offensive codenamed Operation Silver Bayonet. The battle derives its name from the Drang River which runs through the valley northwest of Plei Me, in which the engagement took place. "Ia" means "river" in the local Montagnard language. Representing the American forces were elements of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division: the 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion of the 7th Cavalry Regiment, and the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army, facing elements of the B3 Front of the PAVN and Viet Cong. The battle involved close air support by US aircraft and a strategic bombing strike by the B-52s. The initial Vietnamese assault against the landing 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry at LZ X-Ray was repulsed after two days and nights of heavy fighting on November 14-16. However, the follow-up surprise attack on November 17 that overran the marching column of 7th Cavalry 2nd Battalion near the LZ Albany was the most deadly ambush of a US unit during the course of the entire war. About half of some 300 American deaths in the 35-day Operation Silver ...

John Schroeder and His Orchestra - Girl Talk
John Schroeder and His Orchestra bring us this easy going, slightly up tempo version of Neil Hefti's great tune "Girl Talk". Originally written by Hefti in 1965 for a movie called "Harlow", the song soon started it's own "career". Several performers such as eg Julie London, Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett had considerable success with their interpretations of the song. And does the name "Hefti" remind you of television maybe ? Well, then your memory is not letting you down, as Neil Hefti wrote the theme music for the TV series "Batman" (starring Adam West) and also for "The odd couple". Hefti, who was a jazz trumpeter, composer and arranger, indeed was one of the few musicians who worked together with some of the "big ones" like Harry James, Woody Herman and Count Basie. After an intense and long career, Hefti died in 2008, aged 85. He received numerous Grammy nominations for his work, two of them for this wonderful tune, "Girl Talk". From the 1970 album "Latin Escapade" here are John Schroeder and His Orchestra ensuring that your weekend starts in a relaxed way :) Enjoy

Li'l Darlin' & Girl Talk Medley by: Neal Hefti
"Li'l Darlin' & Girl Talk Medley". Written by: Neal Hefti. Performed by: Neal Hefti and His Orchestra. Album: The Very Best of Neal Hefti and His Orchestra. ©1957/1965 Recordings, Rare & Out-Of-Print. This medley features a smoking hot and harmonized "Big Band Brass & Hall String Sections" & the forever catchy breathy "Doo Wah" Vocal Choir. Trumpeter "Neal Hefti" is especially known for his charts for Count Basie such as "Lil' Darlin", "Cute" and also "Girl Talk", "Late Date" & "The Odd Couple Theme". I am certain that "Henry Mancini" analyzed Neil's Brass Arrangements and especially the Male & Female Vocal Choirs he utilized in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" soundtrack. I really dig the "Jazzy Retro Hip & Cool Swing" of this genre indeed! I remixed & edited the track through Bias Peak Pro & GarageBand. Streaming compensation was performed on this recording to achieve it's optimal resolution peak. DSP Effects Ghosting and Audio Slate were added protection for the artist and myself for the work rendered to deter public exploitation. All rights are owned by the artist and record company exclusively. Remixed & Edited by Migs Emano for Jazmix Arts & Entertainment, 2012 Big Band Jazz.

Ernie Kovacs & Edie Adams Guest on "What's My Line"
[From "Kovacs Corner" on YouTube.com] - For many years, one of the mainstays of the CBS Sunday night schedule was the game show "What's My Line" hosted by ABC Vice -President in charge of news, special events and public affairs, religious programs, and sports John Daly (or "John Charles Daly" as he was introduced every week by panalist Bennett Cerf). This week Ernie Kovacs, with wife Edie Adams, made the transition from one of the blindfolded guest panelists to a "sign in please" guest. Edie had recently won for the audition to play the role of "Daisy Mae" in Broadway play "Li'l Abner", which was based on the syndicated comic strip drawn by Al Capp. That performance ultimately won for her that year's Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. The Broadway production, directed and choreographed by Michael Kidd and orchestrated by Philip J. Lang, opened on November 15, 1956 at the St. James Theatre where it ran for 693 performances. The original Broadway cast also starred Peter Palmer in the title role, and included Howard St. John as "General Bullmoose", Stubby Kaye as "Marryin' Sam", Tina Louise as "Appassionata von Climax", Julie Newmar as "Stupefyin' Jones", Charlotte Rae as "Mammy", Carmen Alvarez as "Moonbeam McSwine", Ted Thurston as "Senator Jack S. Phogbound", and Tony Mordente as "Lonesome Polecat". Tony Randall (co-star of the later TV-series "The Odd Couple") appeared as that week's "What's My Line" guest panelist. Previously that chair was held by a ...

Paul Weller: "Going Places" on Gibson Southern Jumbo Guitar
Had a little trouble getting the track to start (ha ha...). This is one of Weller's more cheery numbers (along with "Headstart"), fairly easy to play, but a couple of tricky transition chords to suss out, plus the odd timing at the end.
