Ground Zero: Syria (Part 1) - Assad's Child Victims
VICE commissioned renowned photojournalist and videographer Robert King to embed on the front lines with the Free Syrian Army in Aleppo. War-zone chaos ensued. In this episode, Assad forces hit Al Qusayr with a rocket attack while Robert is filming - it was targeted directly. Syrian activist: Lethal attack on bakery was a 'message'
At least 90 people were killed and scores others injured in an air strike on a bakery in Syria's central Hama province, activists said. Activists on Sunday told Al Jazeera that the death toll was likely to rise in the town of Halfaya, where the strike hit. Mousab al-Hamadee, an activist in the suburbs of Hama, told Al Jazeera that Halfaya and nearby towns have witnessed heavy shelling since rebels began advancing in the province. Al Jazeera spoke to Hamadee.

Full Speech of Dr. Bashar al-Assad President of the Syrian Arab Repubblic, Damascus 06/01/2013
President al-Assad : Out of Womb of Pain, Hope Should Be Beget, form Bottom of Suffering Important Solutions Rise DAMASCUS, SANA_ President Bashar al-Assad said If pain is pervading like a dark cloud over the country, the emotional state only, with its sublimity, is not enough to compensate the loss of the loving ones or the restoration of security and peace to the country or providing bread, water, fuel and medicine nationwide. In his speech on the latest developments on Sunday, President al-Assad added that out of the womb of pain, hope should be beget and form the bottom of suffering the most important solutions rise, as the dark cloud in the sky conceals the sun light, but it also carries in its layers rain, purity and hope of welfare and offering. President al-Assad said "These feelings of agony, sadness, challenge and intention are huge energy that will not get Syria out of its crisis unless it turns this energy into a comprehensive national move that saves the homeland from the unprecedented campaign hatched against it," The President added " This national move is the only balm to the deep wounds which affected our society and were about to divide it as it is the only way that is able to keep Syria geographically and making it politically stronger. sana-syria.com

In an interview with the Syrian Arab TV, Amin Khan pointed out that the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) condemns terrorism across the globe without any discrimination. He added that the terrorists in Syria are receiving money and weapons from Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, pointing out that the so-called "Free Army" is just a group of terrorists. He asserted that Syria has been the victim of the same terrorism targeting Pakistan and other countries because al-Qaeda organization which was fighting in Afghanistan against the US occupation is now present in Syria. Syria. The other side.
Following the recent events that took place in Syria, people all over the world used to see this country like it presented by media. I have been twice there and can assure you Syria is a wonderful land with its age-old traditions and unique culture. First, I came to Syria together with my friends in August 2010. That's exactly when I shot my first video about the place. Later Blake Whitman showed it on vimeo.com HD channel. The movie was warmly met and watched by a great number of people, what gave me an opportunity to take part in another project in Syria in February this year. It was a documentary about the country made in 20 days. I was DOP in a second unit. The video you see I made together with my friend from my Syrian shot here, at home. I wish people remembered Syria a great and marvelous country like it really is! Thank you!

A Day in the Life of a Syrian Citizen Journalist
Hussein worked for his family's real estate company before the Syrian uprising became increasingly violent 8 months ago. Frequent bombings and gunfire between President Bashar al-Assad forces and Syrian rebels turned the country into one of the most dangerous place in the world. Most jobs in Syria, including Hussein's in Qusayr, disappeared.
Hussein, a pro-revolution activist who asked not to use his last name for fear of retribution, began taking pictures and videos of the violence and sending them to TV stations, free of charge. Blockades and attacks on foreign journalists in Syria has made real-time information about the conflict more and more scarce.
Broadcaster are increasingly relying on untrained citizen journalists like Hussein for insight into what's going on in the country.
In this eye-opening Storyhunter video, Hussein tells his story.

Nearly all its students are Palestinian, coming of age in a society obsessed with its Palestinian identity and right to return to its homeland.
Two schoolgirls are breaking the mould. Shaza and Rahaf dream of serving the Palestinian cause though rap music, but their plans put them on a collision course with their parents and traditionalist head teacher as they try to bring their radical rap into the classroom.

NATO deploys missiles & troops on Syrian border
NATO has begun deploying surface-to-air missiles and troops on Turkey's border with Syria. The Alliance approved the reinforcements last month, after Ankara requested support. NATO claims the move is to help defend its member from the conflict in Syria. But Moscow said the deployment will only serve to escalate tension in the region. Germany and the Netherlands are preparing to ship six more Patriot batteries early next week, they'll be operational by the end of January. However, Jeremy Salt, a Middle Eastern history and politics professor from Bilkent University says NATO is actually now realizing who it's supporting, and losing its appetite for direct action in Syria. American Journalist James Foley Kidnapped in Syria
visit and subscribe to www.minwashington.com A freelance American reporter was kidnapped in war-torn Syria six weeks ago and has been missing since, his family revealed Wednesday. US journalist James Foley, 39, an experienced war reporter who has covered other conflicts, was seized by armed men in the northern province of Idlib on November 22, according to witnesses. Foley who last supplied AFP with video material the day before he disappeared, was picked up in the town of Taftanaz by four men who later released his driver and translator, the witnesses said. The reporter was travelling with another journalist who has also been reported missing, but whose family has requested that he not be identified. No group has claimed responsibility for the abductions, in a country which has been racked by bitter civil war since the start of an uprising by rebels opposing President Bashar al-Assad's regime nearly two years ago. Foley's family, which had earlier asked media groups not to report the abduction in the hope that a low profile would assist in efforts to free him, broke their silence Wednesday to reveal his plight. "We want Jim to come safely home, or at least we need to speak with him to know he's okay," said John Foley, father of the missing reporter who also contributes to the US-based international news website GlobalPost and to major US TV channels. "Jim is an objective journalist and we appeal for the release of Jim unharmed. To the people who have Jim, please contact ...
