Prehistoric Women is a 1967 adventure film. Also known as Slave Girls, the film starred Martine Beswick, Michael Latimer and Steven Berkoff. One of the most bizarre films ever released by Hammer, it was produced using sets and costumes left over from the film One Million Years BC (1966), which had starred Raquel Welch and featured Martine Beswick. Deep Rising (1998)
Deep Rising is a 1998 American action horror film directed by Stephen Sommers and starring Treat Williams, Famke Janssen and Anthony Heald. It was distributed by Hollywood Pictures and Cinergi Pictures and released on January 30, 1998. Stephen Sommers began writing the script to Deep Rising, then called Tentacle, when he worked at Hollywood Pictures in the mid-1990s. Claire Forlani was originally cast as Trillian St. James, but dropped out after just three days, due to creative differences with Sommers, and Famke Janssen was subsequently cast. Janssen almost didn't get the part because the producers felt she was too recognizable from GoldenEye, but they relented. Harrison Ford turned down the role of John Finnegan, which later went to Treat Williams, and the film's budget was later downsized. On its opening weekend the film made $4737793 (42% of its total gross), ranking #8. more at: en.wikipedia.org www.imdb.com www.allrovi.com www.rottentomatoes.com home.online.no www.scifi.com www5b.biglobe.ne.jp www.stomptokyo.com www.badmovieplanet.com

Slaughterhouse-Five is a 1972 film based on Kurt Vonnegut's novel of the same name. The screenplay is by Stephen Geller and the film was directed by George Roy Hill. It stars Michael Sacks, Ron Leibman, and Valerie Perrine, and features Eugene Roche, Sharon Gans, Holly Near, and Perry King. The scenes set in Dresden were filmed in Prague. The other scenes were filmed in Minnesota. Vonnegut wrote about the film soon after its release, in his preface to Between Time and Timbuktu: "I love George Roy Hill and Universal Pictures, who made a flawless translation of my novel Slaughterhouse-Five to the silver screen ... I drool and cackle every time I watch that film, because it is so harmonious with what I felt when I wrote the book." more at: en.wikipedia.org www.imdb.com www.rottentomatoes.com www.allrovi.com movies.nytimes.com

BLISS (Ray Lawrence, 1985)
BLISS
Dir: Ray Lawrence, 1985.
129 min. Australia.
Coarsing with eye-popping visuals, lacerating gags and meticulously choreographed set pieces, Bliss is unlike any film you’ve ever seen before. (That said: if Monty Python, Don DeLillo and The Wall crawled into an unholy pit and commingled, their spawn might begin to scrape its surface.) Australian director Ray Lawrence’s audacious avant-comedy follows Harry (Barry Otto), a chain-smoking ad exec who dies for four minutes, only to return to life and find things a little.... off. As he tries to right his firm’s wrongs before it’s too late, he uncovers an affair his wife (Lynette Curran) is having with his business partner, a drug ring lorded over by his teenage son, and the weirdly comforting likelihood that he never came back - he’s just in Hell.
Co-written by satirist Peter Carey (based on his novel of the same name), Bliss cost Lawrence the director’s seat for 16 years, a cine-grenade that first detonated at Cannes 1985; over 400 people walked out. Spectacle is pleased to present the original director’s cut of this long-censored cult classic.
“It's an interesting twist on the many films in which dying brings beneficence; here, it's just the opposite. Director Ray Lawrence milks the absurdity of the surreal situations for laughs and pathos in a take-no-prisoners style that challenges audiences' tolerance for eccentricity.” - Michael Betzold, AllRovi
“The filmgoer is subjected to the most indelicate scenes of hellish living: bellies being ripped open, surgically, with the parts billowing out; ugly insects crawling over a person; fornication in a restaurant. During some short intervals, words and phrases become unintelligible. If nothing else, this film is different.” - Richard F. Shepard, The New York Times
“Part surrealist comedy and part mid-life crisis drama, its madcap energy and anarchic intelligence put it in a class of its own.” - TimeOut New York

Sun Ra (* 22. Mai 1914 in Birmingham, Alabama; † 30.
Bemerkenswerte Sun-Ra-Alben der 1950er Jahre sind unter vielen anderen Super-Sonic Jazz, Sun Ra Visits Planet Earth, Interstellar Low Ways, Angels And Demons At Play, We Travel The Spaceways und Jazz in Silhouette.
Bemerkenswerte Titel aus dieser Periode sind unter anderem The Magic City, When Sun Comes Out und Other Planes Of There.
