Difficulty of French Model in Nepal: Dangers of cohabitation - Part 1
At a time when Nepal is reeling under serious debates concerning the system of federalism and forms of governance, some political parties have been advocating in favor of French model (semi-Presidential system), which they claim would be suitable in Nepal. In the French model, the popularly-elected President nominates the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, and presides over the latter. In this model, the Prime Minister is often subservient to the President since the latter can remove the former, as can the parliament. If the directly-elected President's party fails to win a majority in Parliament he/she will face extreme difficulty in passing the party's polices and the budget through the legislature. In such a system, the President and Prime Minister are both active participants in the day-to-day administration of the state. France has witnessed three periods of cohabitation, but each is notable for illustrating the oscillation of powers between the President and Prime Minister. Mitterrand-Chirac Period (1986-1988), Mitterrand-Balladur Period (1993-1995), Chirac-Jospin Period (1997-2002). This report is an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of French model in Nepal. A report by Pramod Raj Sedhain after reporting the French Presidential Election -- 2012.

Semi-Expanded Presentation to Attn. of US Presidential Commission on Bioethics (embeddable video)
{List of Guest Speakers is further below.} PLEASE NOTE: This video, due to file-size, may take a while to load completely for smooth viewing - When the grey bar along the bottom of the player reaches the far right, the video has loaded. When I checked the file online, at a connection speed of 48 MBPS (megabytes per second), it took 2.5 hours to load the highest resolution (480 pixels). The 360-pixel resolution (medium size) file loaded immediately. Therefore IT IS PROBABLY MOST TIME-EFFICIENT TO VIEW THE 360-PIXEL RESOLUTION FILE that could still be viewed in Full Screen (that defaults to 480 pixels but can be changed at the beginning to 360 pixels). To start the file's loading, for this or any other video that I've seen on YouTube, it is necessary to start playing the file for up to the first 15 seconds prior to pausing & returning the circular button to zero seconds (ie to where the video will be ready to be played from its starting point once the grey bar has finished loading all the way to the right). The grey bar's gradual loading to the right is the indicator of the video's loading progress. IF you would like to view the video at FULL SCREEN, please start the loading process within the full screen viewer - After this process has begun, then you could return to the smaller viewer while waiting for the video to load. (This is due to the default resolution for loading in the smaller screen viewer being smaller than the default resolution for loading in the full screen ...

Previous Libyan regime is a dictatorial tyrannous King of King Gaddafi regime and similar to any absolute monarchy regime with dictatorial tyranny. www.taghyeer.net إذا لم تشارك اليوم فلا تشكوغداً BBC Documentary Why democracy - Egypt We Are Watching You Film Context In 2005, Mubarak announced that Egypt would hold multi-party presidential elections in Egypt. The elections were given strong support by the US government. The vote was marked by violence and fraud; it was boycotted by large parts of the opposition because they believed it was run unfairly. The voter turnout was remarkably low according to the Carnegie Endowment it was a mere 23 percent. Regardless, the US Government described it as a victory. Mubarak won a fifth term in office and very little was done to address the unfair aspects of the elections. In response to indifference about government and democracy three Egyptian women formed Shayfeen to educate the people about democracy. Political History Egypt was under monarchic rule until 1952 when Gamal Abdel Nasser came to power. Nasser was president from 1954 until he died of a heart attack in 1970. Nasser was a proponent of Pan-Arab nationalism, socialism and the non-alliance movement. He is famous for leading Egypt into the Six Day War with Israel in 1967, which Egypt lost. In 1970 Anwar Sadat came to power. Sadat is most famous for signing the first peace agreement between Israel and an Arab country. The peace agreement was signed in 1979 and is believed to have been the reason for his assassination in 1981. Since then Mubarak has been in power. Experience Mobile Mobile
Lost Boys (an Interactive Agency) invited me to do something for their agency Christmas card.
We took this as an opportunity to reinterpret the Christmas tree and its role as the traditional focal point for a communal space. 'Mobile Mobile' is a six metre circumference interactive sculpture, and signature piece for the entrance of the Lost Boys London Brick Lane studio.
To cut a long story short, after a company-wide upgrade the agency had a lot of old mobiles gathering dust. We took these, built and hoisted a gigantic interactive chandelier/mobile that plays Christmas jingles in their reception.
To add a little xmas spice to the mix, anyone could go online, compose and play their own jingle (and enjoy annoying the hell out of people waiting around in the reception). This was achieved by playing the thing live, using your computer keyboard from a web browser.

Details on how we made it and some behind the scenes content are available on my blog: http://www.theophane.co.uk/mobile-mobile
Mobile Mobile has been made as a semi-permanent hanging (exhibition) space. In January the mobiles will be replaced with another hanging media, then updated month in, month out.
Mobile Mobile is just one in a line of many great lo-fi art/build concepts; from the Design Museum's Aquarium, Digital By Design, Troika and The Cloud, the Printer Bleeping Thingy (I can't remember who did it), all the great work by W+K, and of course, AKQA's wonderful microwaves from last Christmas.
Looking forward to many more to come.

Iceland. Land of contrasts: Hot water and Ice, situated in the North Atlantic, right above the mid-ocean ridge that separates America and Europe.
Shooting was done in two stays (2 weeks each) in 2005 & 2006 (both in September) with a result of 15 hours of footage.
Camera was a SONY Z1. I used some COKIN semi-grey Filters in some of the shots to get the sky as dark as I wanted it to be. Almost no color correction was done in the post, but the timelapse and slo-mo.
