Orchha Chhatris Cenotaphs - Frank & Jen Travel India 17
Our last destination in Orchha is the chhatris, or cenotaphs, by the Betwa River. These are empty tombs of past Orchha kings, and are virtually devoid of tourists. A serene place to sit and relax for hours, time seems to have frozen here as everything still looks like they did hundreds of years ago. A single photo of the cenotaphs brought us to Orchha, and this little village has been one of the highlights of our trip. Technical notes: Shot in 1080p HD with a Canon 60D camera. Most photos are HDR. Music credits: "Shape of Sense" by Faro, "Peace of Mind" by Two Steps From Hell. Please subscribe for all future episodes from India (about 30 episodes)! Orchha Palace Complex & Raj Mahal - Frank & Jen Travel India 15
Frank's magical afternoon walk continues outside Jahangir Mahal amongst deserted ruins. The camel stables rooftop offered a spectacular 360 degree view of the countryside, and the eerie royal garden was made all the more surreal by a live prayer from a mystery source. We wrap up the day at Raj Mahal, where monkeys roam (and engage in crazy animal sex, crazily short that is) outside, and beautiful wall paintings are rumored to be inside. "Taking crystal clear pictures under the light of a full moon, having walked in the steps of history for hours on end, with no crowds and only serenity, I realize that I just had one of the best afternoons of my life." Technical notes: Shot in 1080p HD with a Canon 60D camera and 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS lens. Photos are HDR panoramas. Music credits: "Blood And Glory" by Audiomachine, "Transfiguration" by Two Steps From Hell, "Shivers" by Sultan, "Moonshine" by Two Steps From Hell, "So Serene" by Mark Otten. Orchha Jahangir Mahal Palace - Frank & Jen Travel India 14
Built in the 17th century by Orchha ruler Vir Singh Deo in honour of Mughal emperor Jahangir, the Jahangir Mahal is a massive castle of architectural beauty. Unfortunately Jen was down with the Delhi Belly, so Frank checked out the palace complex himself. From high up in Jahangir Mahal, one could see many of Orchha's ancient landmarks. The camera was put into overdrive taking stupendous HDR panoramas of the countryside, and there were few tourists to obstruct the view. If there was one tourist destination in India that could be considered serene, Orchha must be it. Stay tuned for more palaces and temples of Orchha! Technical notes: Shot in 1080p HD with a Canon 60D camera and 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS lens. Photos are HDR panoramas. Music credits: "Clair Voyant" and "A Hero's Return" by Two Steps From Hell, "Kyne's Peace" by Jeremy Soule from the Skyrim soundtrack. Jahangir Mahal Orchha (Part1) - The Architectural Wonder
Jahangir Mahal, an architectural masterpiece is an intricately carved building that has an aura of stateliness and magnificence. It was built on the lines of Hamam Saras of Emperor Akbar. This lovely piece of architecture is inspired by the Bundela School of Architecture. The frontage of this palace is beautifully adorned with plethora of various geometric patterns and paintings. The paintings depict flowers and peacocks. The palace has 5 storeys and 8 pavilions. On the third floor there is a court where the Orchha rulers met with their subjects. This court is raised over layered colonnades with a broad gallery overlooking it. A cornice in reddish-brown color runs along the boundary of the court. As the name suggests, Jahangir Mahal was built in the honor of the great Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The Orchha ruler, Vir Singh constructed this monument. Vir Singh was a great friend of Jahangir, and their friendship was very old, much before their becoming of monarchs. Vir Singh helped Jahangir at the time when he was in need of help. Jahangir, in order to repy his friend's favor, gave the whole of Bundelkhand to Vir Singh.

Orchha Main Street, Sheesh Mahal Hotel, Market & Restaurants - Frank & Jen Travel India 18
Jen gives a grand tour of our hotel room at the Sheesh Mahal Hotel while Frank shows a view of the main street from Shri Mahant Hostel. We walk through the crowded Ram Raja Temple market in downtown Orchha, and have a rooftop candle night dinner overlooking the main Orchha street - an atmospheric look at life in a typical Indian town. The Canon 60D DSLR with 50mm F1.8 lens gave pretty good low light performance, and allowed us to shoot with only a single candle as the main light source. Technical notes: Shot in 1080p HD with a Canon 60D camera. Photos are HDR panoramas. Music credits: "Love Apple (Lemongrass Wet Dreams Remix)" by Five Seasons, "Wet the Day" by "The Album Leaf", "Need you (right now) (ambient mix)" by Trumpet Thing. Orchha. MP. India - beebah.com
Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India Orchha : A historic town on the Betwa River in central India. The town, surrounded by thick jungle that long made it impregnable, was founded in 1531 and served until 1783 as the capital of the former Orchha princely state. In the early 17th century it was systematically devastated by the forces of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan following the rebellion of the Bundela chief Jujhar Singh. An island in the Betwa, approached by a causeway, contains a large 17th-century fort and palace. Other buildings of historic interest are several temples and a palace of Jahangir, an excellent example of Muslim domestic architecture. There are also several cenotaphs of the Orchha rulers.
