Rain - Whine and Wail [1970 Progressive Rock / Funk Norway]
Uploaded by Rich at aftersabbath.blogspot.com the blog for 60s-70s heavy obscurities. CD RAIN - Norsk Suite, Norway 1970 (SHADOKS 147) CD in jewelbox - 20 minute bonus track - www.psychedelic-music.com RAIN, Norway's most well kept secret has been betrayed and solved! This great band has only released a very rare 45 EP as a soundtrack for the Norwegian movie RIVALEN. Very much like Frank Zappa and The Mothers, RAIN's complex compositions are based on the skills of modern classic composers such as Varèse and Strawinsky. As a strong influence they've mentioned Vanilla Fudge. 10 great tracks with horns and orchestra arrangement, with great fuzz guitar, hammond organ and amazing vocals. A Norwegian rock band who had the urge to exceed limits, both musically and technically. Rain was Carl Jørgen Kiønig - drums / Knut Heljar Hagen - organ, piano, vocals, bass / Åsmund Feidje - guitar, violin, vocals, bass. This album was recorded in 1969/70, beside 7 own composition they play mind blowing versions of A Day in the life, Strawberry Fields Forever and Isolation. Their very complex and difficult arrangements required a lot of practice to turn their concerts into a total experience with a spectacular psychedelic light-show and experimented with "surround" sound. What a great album this is! Has a 20 minute long bonus track! Here is an interview with the band :- psychedelicbaby.blogspot.de

Mr. Stewart Wave of Bad Dreams (Progressive rock Gm suite)
Mr. Stewart Wave of Bad Dreams The song is divided in 4 parts Pt1 - 00:00 until 2:17 where bass guitar comes in Pt2 - 02:18 until 4:38 where piano comes in Pt3 - 04:39 until 6:48 where "The trip" voice comes in Pt4 (aka The Trip) - 06:49 until the end And this is what it is about: Every time the first riff plays (it plays 3 times during the song, a bit different each time. At the beginning two guitars, 6:00 on the nylon acoustic guitar and about 10:15 on the piano fade-in just before the "noise" part ends.) This guy named Mr. Stewart is falling asleep. Pt 2 is about his dream and he is dreaming of "john the killer". The phone rings at his house and almost wakes him up at the end of part 2, and there is a TV on where he hears voices. He stays a long time bed between dreams and reality before falling asleep again. Part 4 comes in with him dreaming nicely and when someone turns the TV louder the sound appears in his dreams. Ring ring ring. Dreams nice again, song ends. =D Pt. 1: - Pt. 2: Hey John was a simple boy who lived around the town No one took care of him As his folks were not around Since he was a little child He learned to look for himself Never really wondering why Or leaving it to someone else Since he left his home He learned to kill for himself (gravado errado xD) Never really wondering why He would do it all the time he left his soul somewhere behind the devil's lair and there is nothing to it until you know you're gone he left his head somewhere lost in the ...

Periphery - Erised
This song has a rather interesting story. My girlfriend likes it when I play guitar while she plays COD, and sometimes we do so whilst under the influence of things. When in such a state, I really enjoy just making trippy sounding patches on my Axefx II and jamming on those. Sometimes I jam on something that i am curious to hear recorded just to see what would happen, and that is the story of how the original demo for this song was born. At around 2 minutes originally, it was rather short, and it didn't have much of an arrangement or anything to it really. I sent it to the guys, but only because I like to send them everything I record, even if it isn't necessarily appropriate for Periphery. The guys said they liked it, but I thought that would be the end of that. Only a few days later, however, Spencer sent me a demo of the song with the parts rearranged to accommodate vocals, and that blew everyone away. The demo was a bit on the bland side before, but Spencer managed to turn it into a vocally driven powerhouse, and did an incredible job on hitting every sweet note on the chorus. From that point on we knew we had to make this a full idea, so once again when Mark, Jake and I were on retreat we decided to work on finishing the idea up and making it a complete song. Interestingly enough, I originally demoed a completely different second half to this song which the guys dug but after spending some time with it, I honestly felt it was decent and not great like I wanted it to ...

Ueberschall Prog Rock Demo
www.audiopronews.com www.facebook.com Supporting and Promoting; Video Details for this article: www.audiopronews.com Ueberschall presents Prog Rock, the latest release from our Vodovoz series. This cutting edge construction kit library is inspired by the great progressive rock bands of the 70s and 80s. Prog Rock influenced many contemporary music styles, such as dubstep, electro house and metal. The main characteristics of prog rock are the extended use of synthesizers, organs, and sound-effects as well as complex rhythmic structures and instrumentation. Influenced by a wide range of genres, ranging from classical music to jazz and science fiction soundtracks, the epic arrangements are often breaking the boundaries of traditional rock music. Ueberschall Prog Rock Content Ueberschall Prog Rock comes with pre-produced construction kits with a total of 1200 loops. Each kit offers a complete mix for demonstrative purposes. In addition, Ueberschall provides mixes of the complete backings and the drum sets, which are particularly useful for song-sketches, digital DJ-sets and productions under time pressure. Each construction kit also contains loops of all single instruments (basses, guitars, synths, pianos, organs, effects, drums and percussion). These loops have been recorded and prepared using professional equipment and offer total freedom while arranging and mixing. The options are widespread, ranging from adding single loops to an existing track up to the construction of ...

In Deep: Progressive Rock
This lesson continues at: www.guitarworld.com The following content is related to the September 2012 issue of Guitar World. For the full range of interviews, features, tabs and more, pick up the new issue on newsstands now, or in our online store:store.guitarworld.com With the growing popularity of rock music in the mid-to-late Sixties, a great many young up-and-coming musicians were inspired — and encouraged — to push the limits of the musical form beyond anything that had come before. The very roots of what was to become known as the progressive rock movement may be hard to pin down, but no doubt the musical experimentation of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan encouraged an ever-widening musical palette, inviting the musical creativity of early progressive bands like Pink Floyd, the Moody Blues, Soft Machine, Procol Harum and Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention.
