Insight with Alan Rusbridger, Editor of The Guardian: Getting it Right on the Left
25/06/2008 - Stephen Sackur talks to Alan Rusbridger about his role as one of Fleet Street's longest-serving editors. What have been the high and low points during his time on the paper? How is The Guardian coping with the challenges facing print? With major changes taking place within The Guardian and the biggest editorial overhaul in the paper's history, will The Guardian's multi-media strategy be enough to survive the current climate? Alan Rusbridger has been editor of The Guardian since 1995. Founded in 1821, The Guardian has a long history of editorial and political independence. Rusbridger was previously a reporter, columnist, features editor and deputy editor of The Guardian. He worked for The Observer and as Washington Editor of the London Daily News before returning to The Guardian in 1987. He is a member of the main board of The Guardian Media Group and of the Scott Trust, which owns The Guardian. Stephen Sackur is the regular presenter of HARDtalk, the current affairs interview programme on BBC World and News 24. Previously, Stephen was the BBC's Europe correspondent and, prior to that, the BBC's Washington correspondent.

Reputation Management Atlanta | 601 212 5433 | Online Reviews Management
The top 4 sites to be concerned with for reputation management are Google Places, Yelp, Facebook, and Twitter. There are many other websites you should also keep up with, however these four will be your bread and butter. Trying to run a business while trying to juggle responding to comments/reviews, writing press releases, blog posts, and encouraging new and existing customers to post can be overwhelming. Reputation management is the practice of monitoring the reputation of an individual or brand, addressing contents which are damaging to it, and using customer feedback to get feedback or early warning signals to reputation problems. Most of reputation management is focused on pushing down negative search results. Reputation management may attempt to bridge the gap between how a company perceives itself and how others view it. Online reputation management is the practice of monitoring the Internet reputation of a person, brand or business, with the goal of emphasizing positive coverage rather than negative reviews or feedback. Prior to a July 2007 story in the Washington Post the term online reputation management was unknown. Reputation management for individuals maybe referred as online identity management (OIM), online image management, online personal branding or personal reputation management (PRM). read more here en.wikipedia.org additional advertising information here www.google.com other references 1.^ Paul Harris (August 1, 2010). The Exile Nation Project
An Oral History of the War on Drugs & The American Criminal Justice System
A film by Charles Shaw
The Land of the Free punishes or imprisons more of its citizens than any other nation. This collection of testimonials from criminal offenders, family members, and experts on America’s criminal justice system puts a human face on the millions of Americans subjugated by the US Government's 40 year, one trillion dollar social catastrophe: The War on Drugs; a failed policy underscored by fear, politics, racial prejudice and intolerance in a public atmosphere of "out of sight, out of mind."
The United States has only 5% of the world's population, yet a full 25% of the world's prisoners. At 2.5 million, the US has more prisoners than even China does with five times the population of the United States. 8 million Americans (1 in every 31) languish under some form of state monitoring known as "correctional supervision." On top of that, the security and livelihood of over 13 million more has been forever altered by a felony conviction.
The American use of punishment is so pervasive, and so disproportionate, that even the conservative magazine The Economist declared in 2010, "never in the civilized world have so many been locked up for so little."
The project will unfold over a two year period, beginning with the release of this feature-length documentary and then continuing on with the release of short films and complete interviews from each of the 100 participants in the project, meant to represent the 1 in 100 Americans that are currently sitting behind bars.
The Exile Nation Project is made possible by a generous grant from the Tedworth Charitable Trust and the openDemocracy group, in association with Exile Nation Media. All content produced is non-commercial and available for free distribution under a Creative Commons license.

Meg Pickard, Guardian Media Group on Extending the Conversation
Recorded at the NPOX-XMLab in Amsterdam on November 18th 2009, Meg shares some of the ways they are using social media technology at the Guardian Newspaper Group. This interview complements her presentation she gave in Hilversum the day before.
Meg Pickard is Head of Communities and User Experience, The Guardian but usually describes herself as a creative geek. As Head of Communities and User Experience for guardian.co.uk, she is responsible for developing and managing existing and new social web strategy and participatory experiences for The Guardian and The Observer.
Her background is in anthropology: she conducted ethnographic research into community participation and cultural identity first in Bolivia and subsequently online in the mid-nineties before eventually succumbing full-time to the Internet industry's bright lights over a decade ago.
Since then, she has conceived, shaped and developed hundreds of editorial, commercial and community projects for big companies (like AOL, where she was Consumer Experience Lead for Social Media products & initiatives) as well as through consulting roles with a range of small start-ups, global brands and charities. Meg's particular areas of interest are community engagement and the emergence of new forms of collaborative and participatory media. She has been blogging since it started with a W, and lives in London and online.
