How To Make Plywood Boxes • 1 of 64 • Intro to Woodworking DIY Series
I am going to show all aspects of building a plywood cabinet box. This basic box building technique can be used for building custom kitchen cabinets, an office desk, or bookshelves for your home or workshop. I use Blum hardware and Baltic Birch plywood exclusively. This method is probably not unique to me, but this is how I have been making boxes for years.

Plywood Cabinets AskWoodMan.com In this video I rough out the Baltic birch plywood that I'll be piecing together for my desk project. I talk about inches verses metric and explain that I will do my best to incorporate both in this series. You will see me using the following tools and machines: General table saw, Festool jig saw, Festool vacuum, Festool rapid action clamps, Festool track saw, Festool track connectors. NOTE: I also show the custom 2-sided box I made to store my Festool track saw guides and accessories. And you'll see my Festool vacuum station. Prepping a Plywood Subfloor for Hardwood or Laminate Flooring
Prepping a plywood subfloor is crucial for a long lasting hardwood or laminate floor. For this project you will need a sander, long level, tape measure and a shop vac, a leveling compound, underlayment, a staple gun, a back saw, a circular saw, a drill with driver bits and screws, hammer and pry bar, pencil, moisture text kit, vapor barrier, utility knife and a chalk line and chalk. To begin remove any carpet and baseboards. The subfloor needs to meet 4 requirements as well. It needs to be clean, level, dry and structurally sound. Remove any wax, paint, adhesives, oils, etc. from the floor. A sander will remove all of this debris. Next make sure the floor is level. For any high spots use a sander, for any low spots apply leveling compound. Testing the subfloor for moisture is the easiest way to figure out the moisture level of your floor. Make sure it meets the manufacturers recommended limits. If you notice that a the wood subfloor has loose or creaky boards, screw the boards down. Finally roll out the underlayment in strips and staple down to the plywood. Once the subfloor is prepped, make sure the floor runs square. Now that the subfloor is prepped and measured, you are ready to lay your hardwood or laminate. Cutting rabbets AskWoodMan.com In this video I discuss the box joinery I will use for the plywood boxes. Markus Kayser - Sun Cutter Project
The sun cutter project explores the potential of harnessing sunlight directly to produce objects. the machine is a low-tech, low energy version of a laser cutter. it uses pure sunlight, focused by a ball lens, to repeatedly cut programmed shapes in up to 0.4mm thick plywood as well as paper and card.
The project also explores the merit of analogue mechanized production that draws on the machine technology found in pre-digital machinery and automaton. it uses a cam system, moving an x & y- board to control the shape of the cut. the cams are set into synchronized motion by a small solar-powered motor driving a timing belt.
Each pair of sunglasses made, even though very similar in shape, is still unique, creating a juxtaposition between the machine-made, repetitive and individual, unique object.

Jay Boy's No Budget Tutorials 03: DIY Filming Dolly With 10' Track
I've seen tons of plans for these things. Here's mine! This project can be done for under $100 (if you don't screw it up like I did). The audio is horrid, I know. Don't care though! Below is a list of parts you will need, you can figure out what tools to use. I include some footage at the end, using this dolly. If you have a slow computer, or you don't have the most recent copy of flash installed, panning and side motions (hell, any motion) will look like crap! Viewed this video on a computer other than mine & I couldn't watch it. Too damn jerky! And YES, this is "No Budget" compared to what you would pay for a pro setup.
PARTS:
(1) 32" square x 3/4" thick piece of plywood
(8) Soft inline skate wheels
(2) 32" pieces of 1 1/2" angle aluminum (1/8" wall thickness)
(8) 1/4" / 20x2" hex bolts
(8) 1/4" flat washers
(28) 1/4" nuts
(16) 1 1/4" fender washers
(4) 1/4"x2 1/2" carriage bolts
(2) 10' pieces of 1" sch. 40 PVC pipe
(1) 5/16" drill bit
(1) Medium size drill bit (smaller then your 5/16" bit)
(1) Small drill bit (I used a 9/32" bit for my starter holes)

Sympathetic Resonance
“Sympathetic Resonance” (2009) dimensions vary
african padauk, birch veneer plywood, aluminum, yarn mallets, rotary solenoids, brass, wires, magnets, boot lace, electronic components
Sympathetic Resonance is an interactive musical instrument sculpture that utilizes the keys of a marimba (a mallet-percussion instrument of african origin) to create four and a half playable octaves. The sculpture consists of 56 "units," each containing a different note, as well as a yarn-wound mallet affixed to a rotary solenoid which allows the note to be triggered by a touch-sensitive aluminum keyboard played by the viewer. The sculpture's modular design allows it to completely change configuration from installation to installation. Each unit can be either mounted or placed on the floor or mounted to a wall, and can be connected to the keyboard with a wire of any length. joshuakirsch.com/symres.html

Wooden Mosquito Airplane Manufacturing in Australia -1944 de Havilland DH98
The Mosquito was one of the most remarkable planes of World War Two. The Mosquito in full the De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito was a twin-engine, two-seat bomber that was modified to serve as a fighter which could operate during the day or at night or as a photo reconnaissance plane. In whatever capacity, the Mosquito proved to be immensely successful for a wooden plane. The first Mosquitoes were powered by two 1250 horsepower Merlin engines. To enhance its aerodynamics, all tail surfaces were elliptical and the wings were sharply tapered. The original Mosquitoes were designed to internally carry four 500 lb bombs. The first flights of the Mosquito confirmed what the design team had hoped for the fastest operational plane of its day. The Mks II, III ands IV could fly at 380 mph - 19 mph faster than the Battle of Britain Spitfire and 50 mph faster than the Hawker Hurricane.

Router Techniques AskWoodMan.com In this video I use a flush cut trim bit to edge trim the top of the plywood box and banding flush to the sides. I used my farrier file to smooth the uneven corners before rabbeting. I use my Festool router to rabbet the back of our plywood boxes using a Whiteside rabbet master router bit. I talk about both my Festool and Makita routers. I explain why I prefer using the Makita for certain operations. You will see me demonstrating or discussing the following tools and machines: Farrier file, Festool router, Makita router, carpenter chisel, Whiteside rabbet master router bit, Whiteside over/under flush cut trim bit, Whiteside spiral fluted 1/8" upcut bit.
