The Mughals (1526-1707)
The Mughal Empire was an imperial power in the Indian subcontinent from about 1526 to 1757. The Mughal emperors were Muslims and direct descendants of Genghis Khan through Chagatai Khan and Timur. At the height of their power in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, they controlled most of the subcontinent—extending from Bengal in the east to Balochistan in the west, Kashmir in the north to the Kaveri basin in the south. Its population at that time has been estimated as between 110 and 150 million, over a territory of more than 3.2 million square kilometres (1.2 million square miles). The "classic period" of the empire started in 1556 with the accession of Akbar the Great. Under his rule, India enjoyed much cultural and economic progress as well as religious harmony. Akbar was a successful warrior; he also forged martial alliances with several Hindu Rajput kingdoms. Some Rajput kingdoms continued to pose a significant threat to Mughal dominance of northwestern India, but they were subdued by Akbar. The reign of Shah Jahan, the fifth emperor, was the golden age of Mughal architecture and the arts. He erected many splendid monuments, the most famous of which is the legendary Taj Mahal at Agra, as well as the Pearl Mosque, the Red Fort, the Jama Masjid of Delhi, and the Lahore Fort. The Mughal Empire reached the zenith of its territorial expansion during the reign of Aurangzeb. During his lifetime, victories in the south expanded the Mughal Empire to more than 1.25 million ...

Islamic Mughal Empire -- 1857 War Against the British Empire Part 1 of 7
Lecture by William Dalrymple on India's 'First War of Independence' at the Gresham College. The people of India, Hindus and Muslims united spontaneously in an uprising against the increasing racist and arrogant British East India Co, a front Company for the British Empire in India. The population rallied round the Mughal Emperor, seen as the legitimate leader of the Indian people. The British (with Sikh and Afghan mercenaries) defeated the Mughal supporters and went on the loot and massacre the population of Delhi -- 100000 people are estimated to have been killed in Delhi. This lecture is based on Dalrymple's book 'The Last Mughal', which I recommend, he also wrote 'White Mughals' another good read. I also recommend 'The Magnificent Mughals' by Zeenat Ziad, published by OUP Pakistan -- A must read for anybody interested in the Mughals. Please rate and subscribe to my channel. I do not own this video, it has been uploaded for educational purposes only.

Mughals and Ottomans - The Mighty Mughal Empire - Babür İmparatorluğu - Moğul ve Osmanlı
Selam Eleykum! Mughals = Ottomans = Muslim Turks!!! Mughal is a Corrupted word for Mongols. The Ppl of Mongolia are called as Mongols. Since Genghiz Khan started his conquest from Mongolia, the descendants were called as Mongols. They were all Tartar-Turks descended from the HUNS!!!! Babur was the descandant of Chengiz Khan, whose grandsons embraced Islam. Thus the last stock of non-muslim Tartar-Turks also became muslims. Witnessing the subjugation and oppression by the Chrisitians of Spain towards the Muslims of Spain, also the Portuguese invasion of West coast of India, the defragmentation of Delhi Sultanate, the Ottoman Caliph commissioned Babur with their newest military technology - the Matchlocks. The aim of Babur was to Unite Hind again and raise the banner of Islam high once again.! History of the Caliphate in the Indian Subcontinent : www.hizb.org.uk Hind-istan = Land of Hindi people "-istan" is the suffix in Turish which means " Land of" Clearly the name of current Hindustan (Litrelly means land of hindus) is misnomer as it makes no sense as here are 30% muslims present. Its a land of muslims as well. ***************** Quotes on Islamic History of Al-Hind : www.cyberistan.org Aurangzeb : www.albalagh.net Throughout its existence the Delhi Sultanate (1205-1526), remained a legal part of the worldwide Muslim empire functioning under the de jure suzerainty of the Abbasid caliphs. Sultans considered themselves the deputies of the caliph and derived their validity ...

Mughal Warriors - Taj Mahal construction, specification and history
The Taj Mahal was built on a parcel of land to the south of the walled city of Agra. Shah Jahan presented Maharajah Jai Singh with a large palace in the center of Agra in exchange for the land. An area of roughly three acres was excavated, filled with dirt to reduce seepage and leveled at 50 meters above riverbank. In the tomb area, wells were dug and filled with stone and rubble as the footings of the tomb. Instead of lashed bamboo, workmen constructed a colossal brick scaffold that mirrored the tomb. The scaffold was so enormous that foremen estimated it would take years to dismantle. According to the legend, Shah Jahan decreed that anyone could keep the bricks taken from the scaffold and thus was dismantled by peasants overnight. A fifteen kilometer tamped-earth ramp was built to transport marble and materials to the construction site. Teams of twenty or thirty oxen were strained to pull blocks on specially constructed wagons. An elaborate post-and-beam pulley system was used to raise the blocks into desired position. Water was drawn from the river by a series of purs, an animal-powered rope and bucket mechanism into a large storage tank and raised to large distribution tank. It was passed into three subsidiary tanks, from which it was piped to the complex. The plinth and tomb took roughly 12 years to complete. The remaining parts of the complex took an additional 10 years and were completed in order of minarets, mosque and jawab and gateway. Since the complex was ...

Lata - Mohabbat Ki Jhooti Kahani Pe Roye - Mughal-E-Azam [1960] from Kirankafe.avi
Added: 02/03/2010 "Mughal-e-Azam" (Hindi: मुग़ल-ए आज़म, Urdu: مغلِ اعظم, English: The Emperor of the Mughals) is a 1960 Indian epic film produced and directed by K. Asif. The lavish production took nine years to finish. The film broke box office records in India when released and held the record for the highest grossing film ever until the 1975 film Sholay broke its record. Starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Durga Khote and Johnny Walker. Music is by Naushad and lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni. In 2004, a colorized version created by Rajeev Dwivedi and Sankranti Creations was released theatrically marking another success for the film. This is one of the biggest and arguably the biggest box office hit movie in Indian cinema. Adjusted for inflation, the movie's net revenue would put it on top of all Bollywood movies released until March 31, 2009. Mughal-E-Azam's soundtrack was composed by music director Naushad, and was named as the second best Bollywood soundtrack ever, by planetbollywood.com. Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain says, "I was considered for the role of the young Salim. But the role was eventually played by Jalal Agha." This is the first full feature-length movie to be revived/colorized for a theatrical re-release in the history of world cinema. Some Hollywood movies have been colorized, but only for re-release on home video. This was (counting Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas) the most expensive film ever made in Indian history. Tailors ...
