SYRIAN people wants GOVERNMENT to WIN the WAR as REBELS atrocities get WORSE (US FUNDING continues) The Arab League has postponed Sunday's crisis meeting on Syria, where rebels are struggling to regain ground in the country's biggest city, Aleppo. Foreign ministers were to discuss a new envoy to Syria to replace Kofi Annan, who quit earlier this month. UK-based journalist and broadcaster Neil Clark says fighting in Syria will only escalate, as the rebels get strong support from their western backers aimed at regime change. Syria: Iranian prisoners freed
www.euronews.com Forty-eight Iranian hostages have been set free by Syrian rebels. They've been released in exchange for 2130 civilian prisoners held by the Syrian government. The Iranians were seized in early August by rebel forces who accused them of being members of Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps sent to fight for the regime. Iran, one of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's closest allies, denied this saying they were Shi'ite Muslims visiting shrines. The Turkish aid agency which helped broker the deal says the prisoners have now been taken to Damascus accompanied by Syrian and Iranian officials. Syrian Kurds seek essential supplies in Iraq
Many Syrians are also seeking refuge in Iraq. About a thousand refugees cross into the country's Kurdish region every day through official border crossings. But, many more are using dangerous routes to transport essential supplies. The Kurdish regional government is allowing it, even though it goes against the policy of Iraq's federal government. Omar Al Saleh has this exclusive report from Irbil.

Syria News 6.1.2013, President Bashar al-Assad's Full Speech Highlights, Dar al-Assad Center
President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday said if pain is pervading like a dark cloud over the country, the emotional state only, with its sublimity, is not enough to compensate the loss of the loved ones or the restoration of security and peace to the country or providing bread, water, fuel and medicine nationwide. sana-syria.com Delivering a speech on the latest developments in Syria and the region at Dar al-Assad Center for Culture and Arts in Damascus, President al-Assad added that "out of the womb of pain, hope should be begotten and from the bottom of suffering the most important solutions rise, as the dark cloud in the sky conceals the sun light, but it also carries in its layers rain, purity and hope of welfare and giving." President al-Assad said "These feelings of agony, sadness, challenge and intention are huge energy that will not get Syria out of its crisis unless it turns this energy into a comprehensive national move that saves the homeland from the unprecedented campaign hatched against it." "This national move is the only balm for the deep wounds which affected our society and were about to divide it as it is the only way that is able to keep Syria geographically and making it politically stronger," the President added.

Chemical Syria: 'Enemies of Allah will die like rabbits'
Syria's military is preparing to use chemical weapons against rebels, and is awaiting final orders from President Assad according to un-named US officials quoted in the American media. Washington says THAT would be all the reason it needs to intervene in the conflict. And as RT's Middle East correspondent Paula Slier reports, the timing of these unsubstantiated WMD revelations may not be coincidence. Also, RT talks to Dr. Ali Mohamad, the editor in chief of the Syria Tribune online magazine. Syrian Government Looks East for New Sources of Medicine
voaspecialenglish.com | http From VOA Learning English, this is the Health Report in Special English. Syria's prime minister recently said his country will search for alternative markets to secure medicines. Medical drugs are in short supply because of the conflict between supporters and opponents of President Bashar al-Assad. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is trying to crush the revolt against his rule. The violence has raised an outcry in Western countries and some Arab states. The European Union and the United States have placed sanctions on the Syrian government as a result of the violence, but these sanctions are also having a negative effect. Medicine is in short supply. The prime minister has said his country will "go east" in search of new providers of medicine. Recently, he said Syria will look to China, Iran, Korea, Latin America and Russia for some medicines. He added that a number of international organizations are cooperating with the Syrian government to provided necessary drugs. The World Health Organization said in August that many of the main drug makers in Syria have closed down. This has caused severe shortages of medicines for treating chronic diseases.Syria's Health Minister said the most needed drugs are hormonal treatments and cancer medicines.Syria used to produce most of its medicines and drugs before the violence started. Ninety percent of Syria's pharmaceutical factories are in the Provinces of Aleppo, Homs and Damascus. They have suffered ...

Will the Syrian Government Survive? Former US State Department Director vs Syrian MP
"Will the Syrian government - or as some call it "Assad regime" - survive?"... This question has surely been asked by many, with people making all sorts of predictions. This video shows two sides of the prediction spectrum. On one hand, former Policy Planning Director at the US State Department, Anne-Marie Slaughter, predicts that there is no way that President Bashar al-Assad will survive 2013, after making a similar failed prediction for 2012. On the other hand, Syrian Member of Parliament (MP) Khaled al-Abboud states that the Syrian government is standing "at the gates of victory".

Chossudovsky: West Attempts to Destabilize Syrian Government
Syrian security forces have clashed with foreign-sponsored insurgents in several areas of the northwestern city of Aleppo. Meanwhile, the Syrian state TV said the army has arrested a group of Turkish and Saudi officers in Aleppo. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told the Turkish Cumhuriyet daily in an interview in early July that Turkey "has supplied all logistic support to the terrorists who have killed our people." Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the turmoil in Syria that began in March 2011. On August 5, US senators John McCain, Joseph Lieberman and Lindsey Graham said Washington should "directly and openly" provide assistance, including weapons, intelligence and training, to the insurgents in Syria. On June 21, the New York Times reported that a group of CIA officers are operating secretly in southern Turkey and that the agents are helping the anti-Syria governments decide which gangs inside the Arab country will receive arms to fight the Syrian government. Press TV has conducted an interview with Professor Michel Chossudovsky, Director of the Centre for Research on Globalization, to further discuss the issue. 'Rebels behind Houla massacre, US plan to destabilize Syria in full swing'
The Syrian government says the massacre of more than a hundred people in the Syrian town of Houla was the work of armed terrorist gangs. This, as the US Secretary of State admits military planning for action in Syria is already going ahead, but Moscow has vowed to block any moves for outside interference at the UN. Activist Sara Flounders talks to RT. She says Washington was never interested in a diplomatic solution in Syria. 'No chance of unity government in Syria'
Iraq's Foreign Minister is blaming al-Qaeda members for orchestrating the uprising against Syria's president. In a news briefing, he said militants from the terror network were flowing into Syria. Violence there is worsening, with over a hundred people killed in the last three days. Reports say fighting's intensifying in Homs, where troops are clashing with rebels. Paul Sheldon Foote, a Middle East expert from California State University, says he doesn't believe the coalition government is possible in Syria. 'US-led NATO arming death squads in Syria: Webster Tarpley
United States- and NATO-backed Syrian militants create a deadly threat to all foreign nationals in the country, a prominent expert tells Press TV. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011, with the Syrian government saying the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of militants are from foreign countries. World will see century's biggest bloodbath in Syria, if militants win: Webster Tarpley
A prominent political analyst says if the insurgents in Syria were to gain control of the country, it would 'unleash a genocide machine' that would cause a "colossal bloodbath" unprecedented throughout the century. The comment comes as a fresh online video apparently shows foreign-backed insurgents in Syria killing in an uncivilian execution style. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence. The Syrian government also says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of armed militants fighting the Syrian government are foreign nationals. Press TV has conducted an interview with author and historian, Webster Griffin Tarpley from Washington to further discuss the issue at hand. NATO set to attack Syria?
The UK and the US have drafted new sanctions aimed at the Syrian Government during the UN Security Council discussions. Russia and China don't support the initiative created under the so-called Chapter #7, which implies foreign military intervention into the country - it will put pressure on the Syrian Government and make the situation worse, they argue.
