Light's Vision - 360Ambience.com
www.360ambience.com http - become a Facebook fan. The first piece to launch the 360Ambience series. Fantastic Scenery from around South Australia It may look like a "Panoramic Shot, but is an ultra smooth 360' panning Don't forget to become a fan ! ---------------- Location info : The first surveyor-general of Adelaide, South Australia, Colonel William Light designed a layout and development programme for the city. This plan is now known as "Light's Vision". Notable aspects of Light's plan are that the city centre is laid out in a grid-like pattern, with squares in the centre of the city and in the centres of the four quarters of the city, and the city is surrounded by Parklands. Legend has it that William Light stood on Montefiore Hill (in North Adelaide) in 1837, pointed at what would one day become the Adelaide city centre, and began planning the city. This moment is commemorated by a statue by Glaswegian sculptor Birnie Rhind on Montefiore Hill (moved from its original Victoria Square position in 1938), pointing at the City of Adelaide below. With the passage of time, both the commemorative statue and the piece of land on which it stands have also come to be referred to as "Light's Vision", rather than its official full name "Light's Vision commemoration". Light's decision on Adelaide's location was initially unpopular among the settlers, including with South Australia's first governor, John Hindmarsh, but Light persisted and eventually managed to convince Hindmarsh ...

Hawker Hurricane II
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter aircraft designed and predominantly built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. Some production of the Hurricane was carried out in Canada by the Canada Car and Foundry Co Ltd. The 1930s design evolved through several versions and adaptations, resulting in a series of aircraft which acted as interceptor-fighters, fighter-bombers (also called "Hurribombers"), and ground support aircraft. Further versions known as the Sea Hurricane had modifications which enabled operation from ships. The Hurricane was significant in enabling the Royal Air Force (RAF) to win the Battle of Britain of 1940, accounting for the majority of the RAF's air victories. About 14000 Hurricanes were built by the end of 1944 (including about 1200 converted to Sea Hurricanes, and about 1400 that were built in Canada), and served in all the major theatres of the Second World War. Design and development H is for Hurricane, British children's alphabet book from the Second World WarThe Hurricane was developed by Hawker Aircraft Ltd in response to the Air Ministry specification F.36/34, (modified by F.5/34) for a fighter aircraft built around the new Rolls-Royce engine, then only known as PV-12, later to become famous as the Merlin. At that time, RAF Fighter Command comprised just 13 squadrons, each equipped with either Hawker Furys, Hawker Hart variants, or Bristol Bulldogs -- all biplanes with fixed-pitch wooden propellers and non-retractable undercarriages.[1] The ...
