700+ forest fires burning in BC

There are now more than 700 forest fires burning in BC. This situation was predictable. Drive or roads and it becomes painfully apparent that the situation will continue to be repeated in the years to come. To do nothing is negligence and to say there is nothing that can be done to lessen the fire hazard is succumbing to a defeatist idea. 40 years ago we sent a small capsule into space and put man on the moon, against all odds the impossible was accomplished. When I see dead trees right up against a condo complex, something that is not only dangerous to life but could cost us all in fire fighting costs, I refuse to except that everything is being done to make the forests safer and to lessen the chance for fires. The Kirats are the aborigines of north-eastern Himalayas. According to various scholars, historians, they came to Nepal in about 800 BCE to 700 BCE and ruled over it. It was only when a young teen was asked to clean up the tomb that the scrolls were found. Fascinatingly, due to recent technology the metal scrolls were able to be unrolled and read. It was pleasantly surprisinging to find the scripture Numbers 6 inscribed on them. Armies were stationed along the wall as a first line of defense against the invading nomadic Hsiung Nu tribes north of China (the Huns). Signal fires from the Wall provided early warning of an attack. The Great Wall is one of the largest building construction projects ever completed. It stretches across the mountains of northern China, winding north and northwest of Beijing. It is constructed of masonry, rocks and packed-earth. It was over 5000 km (=10000 Li) long. Its thickness ranged from about 4.5 to 9 meters (15 to 30 feet) and was up to 7.5 meters (25 feet) tall. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the Great Wall was enlarged to 6400 kilometers (4000 miles) and renovated over a 200 year period, with watch-towers and cannons added.
