Duing the lst two weeks of nov 2012, culminating on Dec 1, 2012, the Free Syrian Army Mounted a strategic attack from the line Damascus - Al Kiswah, which created a gap in the Syrian Army lines at Al hajar al aswad Air defense base and yielded large amounts of military booty. The FSA Battalions then exploited the breakthrough, and reserve battalions advanced along the axis of attack via Darayya supporting the spearhead battalions, which were veering north east to first capture Marj al-Sultan where the 4th Armored Division's Helicopter Regiment was Based, and then then to attack and relieve the encircled Rebels at Douma.
