Demonstration of the Moog Minimoog
Demonstration of the Moog Minimoog
This is a portion of a discussion concerning how great the Moog Minimoog is. Basically a very small demonstration of a fraction of the sounds and capabilities of the Moog Minimoog... perhaps the most beautiful, beautiful sounding, and functional synthesizer ever produced. Feel free to link to this video or post it on your page, but please give me credit by marking it "by Marc Doty." Thanks!

A Brief History of the Minimoog, 1970s
A Brief History of the Minimoog, 1970s
Follow the life of the Minimoog Synthesizer from its inception through its prolific contributions to poplular music throughout the last 4 decades. In this first installment documenting the journey of the Minimoog synth through the 1970's, we explore the musicians and the people that were instrumental in bringing the instrument to prominence. We also sit with one of Moog Music's earliest engineers, Bill Hemsath, who recalls the process of the Minimoog's birth and sheds some light on what sets the Moog synthesizer apart from other analog synths. The YouTube Minimoog
The YouTube Minimoog
This is the first video of a series of videos which demonstrate the sound, functionality, and operation of the Moog Minimoog. This series of videos is interactive. You choose a knob, and your choices will alter the sound you hear. By navigating through the various choices, you'll be able to get a general idea of the function of some of the knobs on the Minimoog. Each setting made by your choice is shown, so you can see the specific settings that lead to specific sounds. If you keep watching beyond the interactive portion of each video, you'll find a section which describes the specific function of the section you've chosen. If you move in a direction you don't want to go, wait for the interactive screen to come up, and just click on the keys of the keyboard, and you'll move back a step. Thanks for watching and have fun experimenting! Even with the relatively few choices you currently have, there are a lot of combinations you can come up with!

DOEPFER DARK TIME Sequencer + ARP Odyssey, Minimoog, Korg MS-20, Korg Monopoly | HQ DEMO
DOEPFER DARK TIME Sequencer + ARP Odyssey, Minimoog, Korg MS-20, Korg Monopoly | HQ DEMO
The DARK TIME is a fantastic analog sequencer. It has MIDI, CV / Gate and also TRIGGER IN / OUT for vintage sequencers or rhythm machines. In my opinion, it is much more comfortable than the Korg SQ-10, which I had. The steps run not just forwards - they also can run backwards or in random. Also a great feature is the quantizer - like on the ARP sequencer. In MIDI mode, the two rows can send at two different MIDI channels. The DOEPFER DARK TIME was originally designed to be used with the DOEPFER DARK ENERGY synth, but you can use it with every synthesizer which has MIDI or CV/GATE. Sometimes (it depends on your synth) you will need a converter or a additional interface (for example: ARP needs +12 volts to trigger the envelopes instead of +5V; Also the Minimoog needs a switch trigger). I always wanted a sequencer like this! I played the Doepfer DARK TIME with ARP ODYSSEY, MINIMOOG, KORG MS-20, KORG MONO/POLY and YAMAHA TQ-5. There is also a sequence, where the Dark Time is synced with a Roland CR-78 (through trigger signals, not MIDI) and controls an ARP Odyssey at the same time.

MOOG MINIMOOG - uncommon sounds | HQ DEMO
MOOG MINIMOOG - uncommon sounds | HQ DEMO
This video shows the Mini Moog in action. The Minimoog is a monophonic analog synthesizer with an outstanding, excellent sound - the "Moog sound". The modules inside the Minimoog are of the same high quality like those in Moog modulars. I wanted to show, that the Minimoog is also able to produce rather "digital" timbres and "untypical" sounds. I played the Mini with Yamaha ProR3 reverb and Roland DEP-5 for delays.
