NATIONAL ANTHEM OF BASQUE
The Autonomous community of the Basque Country is one of the territories where Basque is spoken. The modern extend of Basque speaking territories are also called the Basque Country (Basque: "Euskal Herria"). The following provinces make up the Autonomous Community: * Alava (Spanish Álava, Basque Araba), capital Gasteiz (Spanish Vitoria) * Biscay (Spanish Vizcaya, Basque Bizkaia), capital Bilbao * Guipuscoa (Spanish Guipúzcoa, Basque Gipuzkoa), capital Donostia (Spanish San Sebastián) Before the Spanish Constitution of 1978 and its system of autonomous communities, these three provinces were known in Spanish as the Provincias Vascongadas. The political structure of the autonomous communities is defined in the Gernika Statute, which was approved by the majority in a referendum, that was boycotted by part of the population, on October 25, 1979. In 2003, the governing Basque Nationalist Party proposed to alter this statute through the Ibarretxe Plan. The project, though approved by majority in the Basque chamber, was finally rejected by a large majority in the Spanish Cortes.

Monster Waves of Europe: Basque Country - Playa Gris
Called Euskadi or Pais Vasco, the Basque region is more a country within a country, or a nation within a state. This beautiful place is a region at the north of Spain. It is defined as an autonomous community of three provinces within Spain, and culturally including a fourth province and a small portion of France. The Basques have sought autonomy from Spain since the 19th century.

Come to The Basque Country. Come to Euskadi.
The Basque Country (Basque: Euskadi, Spanish: País Vasco) is an Autonomous Community of northern Spain. The Basque Country borders with the Cantabrian and Burgos provinces to the west, the Bay of Biscay to the north, France and Navarre to the east and La Rioja (the Ebro River) to the south. The territory has three distinct areas, that are defined by the two parallel ranges of the Basque Mountains. The main range of mountains forms the water divide of the Atlantic and Mediterranean basins. The highest point of the range is in the Aitzkorri massif (1551 m). Spanish and Basque are co-official in all territories of the Community. Basque cuisine is an important part of Basque culture. According to the Michelin guide, the third best restaurant of the world is located in San Sebastian. The most popular dishes there are the seafood, fish (for example Marmitako) and the "Pintxos". It's popular to go to the Basque Country for the food, especially the "pintxos". Many people do something that's called "ir de pintxos", Basque version of pub crawl.

WORLD HERITAGE IN THE CATALAN COUNTRIES / PATRIMONI DE LA HUMANITAT ALS PAÏSOS CATALANS
The territory that now constitutes the autonomous community of Catalonia in Spain, and the adjoining Catalan region of France, was first settled during the Middle Palaeolithic. Like the rest of the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula, it was colonized by Ancient Greeks and Carthaginians and participated in the pre-Roman Iberian culture. With the rest of Hispania, it was part of theRoman Empire, then came under Visigothic rule after Rome's collapse. The northernmost part of Catalonia was briefly occupied by the Moorish (Muslim-ruled) al-Andalus in the eighth century, but after the defeat of Emir Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqiwas's troops atTours in 732 local Visigoths regained autonomy, though they voluntarily made themselves tributary to the emerging Frankish kingdom, which gave the grouping of these local powers the generic name Marca Hispanica. Identifiably Catalan culture developed in the Middle Ages under the hegemony of the Counts of Barcelona. As part of the Crown of Aragon — most historians would say the dominant part — the Catalans became a maritime power, expanding by trade and conquest into Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and even Sardinia and Sicily. The marriage of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon (1469) made them kings of the different Christian kingdoms in the Iberic peninsula, while still keeping the individual laws in each kingdom; in 1492, the last of al-Andalus was conquered and the Spanish conquest of the Americas began. The Basque Country is an autonomous community in northern Spain with capital city Vitoria. Come to Spain. Come to Cantabria.
Cantabria is a Spanish province and autonomous community with Santander as its capital city. It is bordered on the east by the Basque Autonomous Community (province of Biscay), on the south by Castile and León (provinces of León, Palencia and Burgos), on the west by the Principality of Asturias, and on the north by the Cantabrian Sea. Cantabria is the richest region in the world in archaeological sites from the Upper Paleolithic period. The first signs of human occupation date from Lower Paleolithic, although this period is not so well represented in the region. The most significant cave painting site is the cave of Altamira, dated from about 16000 to 9000 BC and declared, with other nine Cantabrian caves, World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Spanish is the official language of Cantabria. The eastern part of Cantabria contributed to the language's origins in a significant way. Cantabrian language, or Mountain language, is hardly preserved in the West of Cantabria and some zones of the Pas Valley and the Valley of Soba, in its Eastern zone. This language has neither regulation nor official recognition. Despite its small size, there are seven natural areas of undoubtable interest in this autonomous community: Picos de Europa National Park Collados del Asón Natural Park Santoña, Victoria and Joyel Marshes Natural Park Macizo de Peña Cabarga Natural Park Oyambre Natural Park Saja-Besaya Natural Park Dunes of Liencres Natural Park
