  London ⁱ/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, the largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures. Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its square-mile mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the 19th century, the name London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area, governed by the elected Mayor of London and the London Assembly.
  London is a leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence. It is the world's leading financial centre alongside New York City and has the fifth-largest city GDP in the world (and the largest in Europe). London has been described as a world cultural capital. It was the world's most visited city during 2011 and London Heathrow is the world's busiest airport by number of international passengers.   New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world. The city is referred to as New York City or The City of New York to distinguish it from the State of New York, of which it is a part. As a global power city, New York exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment.   Located on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which comprises a state county. The five boroughs—The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island—were consolidated into a single city in 1898. With a Census-estimated 2011 population of 8,244,910 distributed over a land area of just 305 square miles (790 km²), New York is the most densely populated major city in the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. The New York City Metropolitan Area's population is the United States' largest, with 18.9 million people distributed over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km²), and is also part of the most populous combined statistical area in the United States, containing 22.1 million people as of the 2010 Census.

  Christopher Nolan
  Christopher Jonathan James Nolan (/ˈnoʊlən/; born 30 July 1970), also known as Chris Nolan is a British/Americanfilm director, screenwriter and producer.
  He received serious notice after his second feature Memento (2000), which he wrote and directed based on a story idea by his brother, Jonathan Nolan. Jonathan went to co-write later scripts with him, including the Batman series and The Prestige. He also first collaborated with Wally Pfister, who would photograph all his subsequent films. After directing Insomnia (2002), Nolan pitched an idea for a reboot of the Batman film franchise to Warner Bros., eventually making a successful trilogy consisting of Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
  Inception (2010) was an original screenplay by Nolan, a heist film set in the world of "shared dreaming." Nolan co-founded Syncopy Films with his wife, Emma Thomas, and they have produced all his films since The Prestige (2006).
  Nolan has also worked with screenwriter David S. Goyer, film editor Lee Smith, composers David Julyan and Hans Zimmer, special effects coordinator Chris Corbould, and actors Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, Jeremy Theobald, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, and Michael Caine.

  David Julyan (born 1967 in Cheltenham) is an English musician and film score composer. He composed the scores to several Christopher Nolan films including Memento, Insomnia and The Prestige, a collaboration that began with the short film Larceny. Recently he scored the horror movie The Descent and a UK feature, Outlaw. Julyan has also been invited to sit on film music discussion panels at various film festivals, including the BMI Music & Film Panel at the 2004 & 2006 Sundance Film Festivals and the 2002 Flanders International Film Festival Ghent panel on "How To Get Started In Film Music". An interview with him has been included in the book Moving Music.

  Dick Bradsell is a London bartender noted for his innovative work with cocktails, including the invention of many new recipes: The Observer has described him as the "cocktail king", while Waitrose Food Illustrated has compared him to celebrity chefs and the San Francisco Chronicle credits him with "single-handedly (changing) the face of the London cocktails scene in the 1980s." He played a gangster in Christopher Nolan's film Following.

  Emma Thomas
  Emma Thomas is an English film producer. She is known for co-producing critically acclaimed films such as the film adaptation The Prestige (2006), Inception (2010), as well as the Batman film franchise in the 2000s.
  Aside from producing films, Thomas has worked as a script supervisor throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and was an assistant to director Stephen Frears on High Fidelity.
  Thomas graduated from University College London where she met her husband and acclaimed film maker Christopher Nolan. She has produced almost all of Nolan's films since 1997.
  Thomas lives with her husband and their four children in Los Angeles.

• Jeremy Theobald
  Jeremy Theobald is a British actor best known for his portrayal of Bill (credited as "The Young Man"), the main character in Christopher Nolan's major picture debut, Following (1998). Following, for which Theobald was also a producer, was filmed around their day jobs. Jonathan Romney, writing in the New Statesman, noted that "Nolan and his cast are terrific finds: I wouldn't normally say this to struggling artists, but they might want to give up their day jobs." Theobald also appeared in Larceny, a short film shot by Nolan while in the UCLU Film Society, and Doodlebug, another short film by Nolan. Nolan went on to direct Memento, the Hollywood version of Insomnia, Academy Award Nominee for Best Picture Inception, and Batman Begins, in which Theobald had a walk-on part as the "Younger Gotham Water Board Technician". As with many British actors, he has also had a part in an episode of ITV's The Bill.
  Theobald has a degree in Physiology from UCL, and was a Managing Editor of the Journal of Pathology with the publisher Wiley. He is now Executive Editor of the Forum for Global Health Protection, a not-for-profit company sponsored by the Health Protection Agency. He has an interest in publication ethics, and he is currently the Treasurer of the Committee on Publication Ethics, a London-based organisation of biomedical journals.

• Peter Broderick
  Peter Broderick (b. January 20, 1987) is an American musician and composer from Carlton, Oregon. He has released solo material under his own name, been a member of Efterklang, and played with several ensembles as a session musician.
  Broderick was born in the state of Maine in 1987. He learned a number of musical instruments whilst at school, and went on to become a session musician, playing violin, banjo, musical saw, and mandolin on recordings by M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean and others. He played and toured with numerous groups, including Horse Feathers, Norfolk & Western, Loch Lomond and Laura Gibson. In mid 2007, Broderick joined the Danish ensemble Efterklang in Copenhagen to join their touring band after the release of their album Parades. After touring, he released a mini album of solo piano music, Docile, on the Swedish label Kning Disk, as well as a 7″, Retreat/Release, his first full-length album of piano and string based compositions, Float, and an orchestral concept album, Music for Falling From Trees, on the US label Western Vinyl and British label Erased Tapes.

• Tony Rayns
  Antony Rayns (born 1948) is a British writer, commentator, film festival programmer and screenwriter. Much inspired in his youth by the films of Kenneth Anger, he wrote for the underground publication Cinema Rising (its name inspired by Anger's Scorpio Rising) before contributing to the Monthly Film Bulletin from the December 1970 issue until its demise in 1991. He has written for the British Film Institute's magazine Sight & Sound since the 1970s, and has also contributed extensively to Time Out and to Melody Maker in the late 1970s.
  Known for his expertise in East Asian cinema, he provides commentary tracks for DVD releases of Asian films. He coordinated the Dragons and Tigers competition for Asian films at the Vancouver International Film Festival from 1988 to 2006. He has also worked as a translator for English subtitles on films from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Thailand. In the 1980s, he presented a series called New Chinese Cinema on British television, showing (sometimes rare) films and biographies of eminent Chinese directors.
