OFFENBACH - Mantador (1973)
Offenbach emerged in 1970 from the transformation of various bands throughout the 60?s, the last being "LES GANTS BLANCS" lead by the Boulet brothers who were then inspired by the psychedelia of the times and artists like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. The lineup is then comprised of Gerry Boulet (keyboard & vocals), Jean Johnny Gravel (guitars), Michel "Willie" Lamothe Jr (bass) and Denis Boulet, who left the band after the first record to be replaced on drums by Roger (Wézo) Belval. That year they meet with musician, poet and filmmaker Pierre Harel whom they integrated to the band as singer and author, and would then release the soundtrack to his movie "Bulldozer" in 1973. The first LP came in 1971, "Offenbach Soap Opera" and became one of the first "rock" albums with songs in French coming out of Quebec. But with scarce success, the band searching for a way to gain attention, Pierre Harel proposes they present a "Mass for the Dead" at the St-Joseph Oratory in Montreal. The project is surprisingly accepted by the religious authorities and the Mass is presented November 30th 1972, attracting 5000 people to an eclectic performance of rock mixed with liturgical Gregorian chants recorded on a 16 track and released in 1973 as "Saint-Chrône-de-Néant". They spent most of the next couple of years in France touring and filming a documentary of the band called "Tabarnac", also released as a double LP with a certain success. Pierre Harel then left the band and OFFENBACH came back ...

Fix-It Felix Jr. Gameplay
A gameplay round of Fix It Felix Jr. by Disney for internet browser (found at their official Wreck-It Ralph website, disney.go.com ). Fit-It Felix Jr. is an adaption of the fictional game of the same title from the upcoming animated film, Wreck-It Ralph. It strongly resmbles the coin-op arcade games from the early 80's (namely Donkey Kong). In the game, the player takes the role of Fix-It Felix as he climbs the Niceland Apartment building to replair the damage caused by Wreck-It Ralph. Felix can move in four directions using the arrow keys and can repair broken windows with the press of the space bar. He must also avoid falling debris from Ralph's rampage as well as horzontally flying ducks. Occasionally, residents of the aparement building will place a pie on a window sill that will award Felix extra points and a free life.

Lhasa de Sela ~ De cara a la pared (Lyrics)
Lhasa de Sela: De cara a la pared (Face au mur/ Facing the wall) from album "LA LLORONA" (1997) Lhasa de Sela/Yves Desprosiers "La Llorona" (the Wailing Woman) is the name of a legendary Mexican woman who threw her children into the river in her anger and jealousy. The villagers found her dead as well the next morning, and her ghost continued to roam the earth, wailing for her lost children. That title is appropriate enough for this splendid, unexpected collection of songs (only three are not original). Lhasa's voice is haunting, much like the mythical wail of "La Llorona." There is an urgency and passion in her singing. My favourite song has to be "De cara a la pared," a haunting waltz with unusual sound effects (rain, splashing, musical saw). ...... Listen to the opening track, "De Cara a la Pared" as she hauntingly invites you into her own cabaret, joining in as though her voice is a violin, softly, seductively enticing the listener entry into her world. The comparisons to the two above mentioned artists stop there and really do no justice to her brand of music created with Yves Desprosiers. This is really a collaboration as Desprosiers pens many of the songs with her and plays no less than eight instruments! He also is the producer (from critics).

Felix Mendelssohn - Piano Concerto No.1 in G minor Op.25
Here we have Novita Jap performing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No.1 in G minor Op.25 for her Classical Graduating Recital at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25 (1930 -- 1831) 1. Molto Allegro con fuoco 2. Andante 3. Presto -- Molto Allegro e vivace Novita was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. She began her piano lesson at the age of four. She won the first prize for French Piano Competition in 2005. In 2006 she joined IPF (Indonesian Piano Recital) which was held in Jakarta, Indonesia and she was chosen to perform at the Erasmus Huis (Dutch Embassy). In 2008, she received an honorable mention award in Ananda Sukarlan National Piano Competition. She took Diploma of Music under tutorship of Mr Frank DeMeglio at Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore from July 2007 to May 2009. She completed her Bachelor of Music under tutorship of Ms. Irina Klamka at Australian Institute of Music inSydney at the end of trimester 1, 2011. She is currently completing her Graduate Diploma in Music at Australian Institute of Music with Zsuzsanna Giczy. Mendelssohn composed this first piano concerto in a short time span with evidence confirming that it was indeed produced at lightning speed. Mendelssohn himself announced in a letter to his father that his first piano concerto was "a thing quickly thrown off", unlike his other most popular achievements such as the E minor Violin Concerto, the Hebrides Overture, or the much‐loved A Midsummer Night's Dream ...

Felix Da housecat - Jack U
In Chicago during the early '80s, the House music revolution grabbed Felix's attention. For Felix, it centered around Chicago's 102.7 and the pioneering Hot Mix DJs. "I remember listening to Farley 'Jack Master' Funk, Mike 'Hitman' Wilson, Micky 'Mixin'' Oliver, and Kenny 'Jamming' Jason," Felix says rattling off the city's House pioneers. By 14 he too was recording house music on his four-track. A school friend introduced him to DJ Pierre who he collaborated with on their classic house track "Phantasy Girl". But Felix's tastes weren't limited to a single genre. His senior year he played in Uncut, a band with an R&B-like vibe. After graduation he enrolled at Alabama State and began making hip-hop. After two years in the Deep South (an experience he compares to "prison") he flunked out. In 1991, Felix moved into his parents' basement, studied audio engineering at Columbia College and worked at Eduardo's pizzeria. "It was rough," he says. "I hated those ovens and I kept thinking something's got to give." What finally gave was Pierre's once-in-a-lifetime offer. "Once I got to London and saw all those punk rockers," Felix says, "I thought `this is where it's going to happen.'" Armed with a box of DATs, Felix made the rounds. "It was crazy," he says, "I'd walk into a label cold, play a track, and they'd sign it!" He quickly sold "What's Love About" to Freetown Inc and "Thee Dawn" to William Orbit's Guerilla label and returned to the states with more money then he'd ever seen ...

TEDxThessaloniki - Yannis Smaragdis - The courage to find our destiny
Inspired from the TEDxThessaloniki 2012 theme, the Courage to Create, as well as his own experiences, the awarded film director Yannis Smaragdis gives a fascinating and inspiring talk about the power of our inner light. According to him crucial steps on the road to find our destiny is to move from "I" to "We", receive life's positive messages and listen carefully to our inner oracle. Yannis Smaragdis first studied film in Greece and France. His debut in 1972, the short film Two Three Things..., received the First Prize at the Athens Film Festival, as well as a Special Mention at the Montreal Film Festival. Since then he has worked on documentaries, films, television series and opera staging. His film Cavafy (1996) was awarded with the Greek State Awards for Best Film and Best Director, participated at the Berlin and Toronto Film Festivals and was nominated for a Felix European Film Award. An international production and a major box-office success, El Greco (2007) was awarded with eight Greek State Awards (for, among others, Best Film and Best Director) and participated in major film festivals around the world (such as Toronto, Sao Paolo and Cairo). Other major films by Smaragdis include God Loves Caviar, Spyros Louis, Les enfants gâtés, Ave Taso Karatasso, The Aegean: From Homer to Elytis, and Intrigues in Constantinople (Hadjimanuel).
