A Conversation With... Kathleen Turner & Edward Albee
Kathleen Turner and Edward Albee reflect on his plays, the reviews, inspiration, and what he considers to be the emerging "commercialism" of Broadway theater. "The problem about live theater is it costs so damned much to put on," says Albee "an audience that goes to the theater for escapism is a different audience than one that goes to engage and think about stuff.

Edward Albee's The Zoo Story
Inspired by Edward Albee's appearance at Bucknell University last spring as the Janet Weis Fellow in Contemporary Letters, Diego Chiri'11 directs Albee's 1958 play "The Zoo Story." In this, Albee's first play, two strangers meet on a summer afternoon in Central Park, New York City. Peter is a married man who works for a small publishing house and Jerry is an isolated man who has just come back from the Zoo. This encounter challenges their perceptions of love, failure, and interpersonal connections as the mystery of what happened at the zoo develops into a shocking conclusion. I don't own this play. Edward Albee: How does he create his characters? An interview with Neal Marshad
Edward Albee, award-winning playwright stepped on stage to give a series of improvisational performances for the benefit of LongHouse Reserve on July 10, 1999. A long-time resident, Albee does most of his writing in Montauk, NY, where he remains an avid supporter of LongHouse Reserve. In this interview by Neal Marshad, Mr. Albee details how he uses a proven technique to define the characters he creates by incorporating audience suggestions as a point of departure for his dramatic sketches. Since Albee's first play, "The Zoo Story" premiered in 1959 in Berlin, he has been active in the theatre ever since. His first full-length play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" has been performed over 600 times. The master playwright has won three Pulitzer Prizes, two Tony's, as well as a Drama Critics Circle Award and an Outer Circle Critics Award. Produced by Neal Marshad.

Backstage Tour of Edward Albee's 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' At Broadway's Booth Theatre
Take a guided tour of Broadway's Booth Theatre with 'Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' cast members Madison Dirks and Carrie Coon! broadwaysbestshows.com One of America's most acclaimed theatre ensembles will take on one of the greatest plays of the 20th century when the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? comes to Broadway to celebrate the play's 50th anniversary. Straight from a sold out run at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf happily arrives on Broadway with its original cast intact. Tracy Letts and Amy Morton (both of August: Osage County fame) star as George and Martha, two of the most iconic characters in theatre history who wile away their enjoyably miserable marriage by engaging in verbal contests of acerbic wit. Potentially the greatest American play ever written about the institution of marriage, Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf will leave you breathless, drained, fatigued, depressed...yet in a state of complete theatrical ecstasy. Drama just does not get more juicy than this.
