John Edward Boulting (21 December 1913 – 17 June 1985) and Roy Alfred Clarence Boulting (21 December 1913 – 5 November 2001), known collectively as the Boulting brothers, were English filmmakers and identical twins who became known for their popular series of satirical comedies in the 1950s and 1960s. They produced many of their films through their own production company, Charter Film Productions, which they set up in 1937.
The twin brothers were born to Arthur Boulting and his wife Rosetta (Rose) née Bennett in Bray, Berkshire, England on 21 December 1913 (though both brothers later gave their birthday as 21 November in Who's Who and elsewhere). John was the elder by half an hour. John was named Joseph Edward John Boulting and Roy was named Alfred Fitzroy Clarence Boulting. Their elder brother Sydney Boulting became an actor and stage producer as Peter Cotes; he was the original director of The Mousetrap. A younger brother, Guy, died aged eight. Both twins were educated at Reading School, where they formed a film society. They were extras in Anthony Asquith's 1931 film Tell England while still at school.

Twisted Nerve is a 1968 British-American psychological thriller film directed by Roy Boulting and starring Hywel Bennett, Hayley Mills, Billie Whitelaw and Frank Finlay. The film follows a disturbed young man, Martin, who pretends, under the name of Georgie, to be mentally retarded in order to be near Susan—a girl with whom he has become infatuated—and who kills those who get in his way.
The film opens with Martin playing catch with his younger brother Pete, who has learning difficulties and lives in a segregated school in London. Martin is the only remaining figure in Pete's family life; their father died years ago and their mother has a new life with a new husband. Martin expresses concern for his brother's well-being to the school's physician, who is comfortable with Pete's progress.
After the title sequence, Martin is shown in a toy store, gazing at Susan, who purchases a toy. As she leaves, Martin follows after having pocketed a toy duck. Two store detectives ask them to return to the manager's office. The detectives assert that Martin and Susan were working together to allow Martin to steal a toy. Susan assures them she has never met Martin. The manager asks Susan for her address and Martin appears to make a mental note when she offers it. When questioned by the manager, Martin turns soft, presents himself as mentally challenged and calls himself "Georgie". Sympathetic to him, Susan pays for the toy. Certain that this was a misunderstanding, the manager lets them leave.
Rotten to the Core is a 1965 British comedy film directed by John Boulting.
It includes a young Anton Rodgers as the leader of a group of criminals, who attempt to stage an elaborate heist towards the end of the film.
Britain's famed comedy brothers John Boulting and Roy Boulting created this caper about a trio of crooks plotting to retrieve their ill-gotten booty. Upon finishing their sentence for pulling off a heist, they immediately go in search of their one-time leader, The Duke (Anton Rodgers). He was supposed to safeguard their share of the money, but the Duke's girlfriend Sara (Charlotte Rampling) informs them the Duke is dead, and the money is long gone. The gang discovers that she's lying, however, and that the Duke is masquerading as the head of a spa, the Hope Springs Nature Clinic, where he is planning a felony with some criminal cronies.
Eric Sykes plays a policeman who attempts to go undercover without much success. (As one character puts it "You can see his flat feet from here".)

As an actor, he is perhaps best known for his roles in Brighton Rock, The Great Escape, 10 Rillington Place, Miracle on 34th Street (1994), and Jurassic Park.
He was the older brother of David Attenborough, a naturalist and broadcaster, and John Attenborough, an executive at Alfa Romeo. He was married to actress Sheila Sim from 1945 until his death.
Attenborough was born on 29 August 1923 in Cambridge, the eldest of three sons of Mary Attenborough (née Clegg), a founding member of the Marriage Guidance Council, and Frederick Levi Attenborough, a scholar and academic administrator who was a fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and wrote a standard text on Anglo-Saxon law. Attenborough was educated at Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys in Leicester and studied at RADA.
This sequence from the Boulting Brothers' film shows the impact of the Rev Smallwood's (Peter Sellers) initiative to give free food away, with Eric Sykes, Irene Handl and Miriam Karlin; Rodney Bewes can also be seen as a milkman, unless you blink
A rare chance for Terry to step out of character as he plays cockney criminal, Alfie Green, in this Boulting Brothers comedy. He shares this scene with the great Ian Carmichael.
A riotously funny crime caper in the classic tradition of Two-Way Stretch and The Lavender Hill Mob, Rotten to the Core boasts a top-notch cast with early roles for Anton Rodgers and Charlotte Rampling; produced, directed and co-scripted by the legendary Boulting brothers, this rare comedy gem earned a BAFTA Award nomination in 1966 for art director Alex Vetchinsky. Rotten to the Core is presented here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements, in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio. Ian Carmichael, OBE (18th June 1920 - 5th February 2010) was an English film, stage, television and radio actor. Among his most famous big screen characters were the well-meaning but incompetent Stanley Windrush in the Boulting Brothers satires Private's Progress (1956) and I'm All Right Jack (1959), as well as the hapless title character in Lucky Jim (1957), an adaptation of the Kingsley Amis' novel also by the Boultings. He also played the archetypal comedy gent, Bertie Wooster, in the BBC series World of Wooster (1965-67), based on the PG Wodehouse Jeeves books. PUBLIC DOMAIN News item.
Rowan Joffe's adaptation of Brighton Rock transports the Boulting brothers classic noir to the mid-'60s, a suitably punchy setting where gang violence plays out against a backdrop of mods and rockers. Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough step into the worn shoes of Pinkie and Rose, and the pair talked us through a seaside shoot that - surprisingly - also played out with its own cast of real-life mods and rockers. Director Joffe, meanwhile, explained the pressures of re-adaptating a Graham Greene classic - cinema's equivalent of a don't-look-down experience. http://www.empireonline.com/interviews/interview.asp?IID=1181

Hywel Bennett plays 'Georgie' to an unsuspecting Hayley Mills in this scene from the Boulting Brothers' film 'Twisted Nerve'.
Here we can see a screen comparison of the infamous scene of Pinkie recording his voice for Rose. This chilling scene differs slightly in pace between the two versions, as does the final scene, which can also be seen. Brighton Rock is a 1947 British gangster film noir directed by John Boulting and starring Richard Attenborough as violent gang leader Pinkie Brown (reprising his breakthrough West End creation of the character some three years earlier), Carol Marsh as the innocent girl he marries, and Hermione Baddeley as an amateur sleuth investigating a murder he committed. The film was adapted from the 1938 novel Brighton Rock by Graham Greene, and was produced by Roy Boulting through the Boulting brothers' production company Charter Film Productions. Dragnet is a radio and television crime drama about the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police detective, Sergeant Joe Friday, and his partners. The show takes its name from an actual police term, a "dragnet", meaning a system of coordinated measures for apprehending criminals or suspects. Dragnet debuted inauspiciously. The first several months were bumpy, as Webb and company worked out the program's format and eventually became comfortable with their characters (Friday was originally portrayed as more brash and forceful than his later usually relaxed demeanor). Gradually, Friday's deadpan, fast-talking persona emerged, described by John Dunning as "a cop's cop, tough but not hard, conservative but caring." (Dunning, 210) Friday's first partner was Sergeant Ben Romero, portrayed by Bart...
