Tapi River 2012, Surat, Gujarat
Tapi River overflows due to releasing water form Ukai Dam. Since September 5, 2012 evening, water discharges from Dam. Panic, awe, and rumors spread among the people after seeing the heavy water in Tapi. City's Flood Gates closed on Wednesday and as a result some area includes Majura Gate, Chowk Bazar, Variav, Nanpura, Hodi Bungalow, Rander, and Ved Road facing difficulty because of drainage water. There was a heavy traffic problem on Sardar Bridge, Swami Vivekanand Bridge, Mota Varachha Savji Korat Bridge, Kapodra-Utran Bridge and Nehru Bridge. Hope, Surat will not repeat 2006 situation.

Crossing the Tapti river - Akola-Ratlam MG Pass (Dec. 23, 2008)
Between Tukaithad and Ratnapur, we crossed the Tapti river. The river seemed so puny compared to what it is near Surat. By this time, a few travelers had already occupied the aerial seats, if you know that I mean!

Tv9 Gujarat - Country made liquor made in the middle of Tapi River, Surat
Following our Save River Campaign we found out that in the pious Tapi river illegal work of making country made liquor is going on. Under the open sky and on the island like area of Tapi river this activity is practiced openly. Bootleggers arrives after the liquor is made and take away the liquor in boats. This activity is going on under the Savji Korat Bridge and the area is a little away from Kapodra Police Station. When these bootleggers saw our team they ran away leaving behind the entire ingredients and instruments of making the liquor. This is not just one place but many areas on the bank of the Tapi river have become the center of such bhattis.
